We came here on Memorial Day weekend around Noon and a lot of the pie slices were sold out. Come early for all the flavors! The Pie Box is for take out pie slices, whole pies, pastries, and fudge. The restaurant is inside the general store in the middle. If the Pie Box is out of the flavor you’re looking for, you may be able to find it in the general store. There are cute little spots outside on the patio and behind Pie Box to enjoy your food. The lemon meringue was the best I’ve ever had. It came from the fridge and was refreshing for a hot day. 🍋☀️Full of fresh lemon flavor and a good balance between sweet and tart. The crust had a good crumb and wasn’t too heavy or thick. The pecan pie was pretty sweet. It had fresh pecans and the filling wasn’t too heavy. Would be great with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream! If you’re looking for a bigger slice of pie that’s very rich and sweet, this may not be for you!

Oh wow. You have this beautiful rustic bakery that focuses on pies, right by the highway. It's on a barn on a farm type of setting - not pretentious and rather nostalgic. The decors, the vibe, are all authentic and reflects the past in a welcoming way. Head over to the slice fridge and grab various flavors of pies. The bourbon pecan is to die for. Perfect blend of pecans, the gooey stuff, cinammon, and crunch. It is literally one of the best pecan pies I've tasted. The coconut macaroons were also crisp and chewy - brilliantly done. Just with these two, I already was in a happy mood. I don't think they used fresh peaches for the peach pie but oh well, you can't have everything (or perhaps it is not peach season). The only catch - $7 per slice of pie. Yes, it's quite pricey. But I'd have to say, it is worth it. If you're driving up/down to the north of Phoenix, Pie Box is a must stop. Just do it. You'll be grateful that you did.

My husband and I stopped here on our way to Phoenix. We split a few items and the sticky bun and Germans chocolate brownie were delicious. The peach pie was good. The people working were friendly. Would recommend stopping if in the area.

My gf and I split a sandwich so we would have room for dessert. She had peach crump and I had go ol’ apple, both al mode.

This place came recommended by a local as being a staple place to visit. However, coming from the south the pies were a little basic. Although I enjoyed the variety of options to choose from, looks can be deceiving. Some of the pies missed the wow factor. We ordered apple pie, key lime pie, strawberry rhubarb, and a sticky bun. They keep the slice of pies in the fridge, so luckily enough they had a microwave on site for me to warm my pie as I don't like it cold. Overall, we loved the atmosphere, but not sure it was the best pie I have ever had.

If you’re driving up or down the Highway 17 to the north of Phoenix, The Pie Box is a mandatory stop. Just do it. Trust me, you’ll be grateful that you did. It’s more than just a bakery; it’s an experience, a memory in the making, and a truly delicious escape. You’ll know you’ve stumbled upon something truly special: a beautiful rustic bakery called “The Pie Box,” perfectly nestled in a charming humble setting just off Highway 17. The setting alone is worth the visit. It’s idyllic, reminiscent of a picturesque farm, creating a vista of peaceful countryside. The intoxicating aroma of freshly baked pies hangs heavy in the air, a symphony of sweet and savory notes that further enhances the welcoming ambiance. Your senses are instantly heightened, anticipating the deliciousness to come. Outside, a small, charming patio offers additional seating, providing a perfect spot to savor a slice of pie while watching the tranquil countryside go by – a true escape from the everyday hustle. The Pie Box refreshingly avoids any pretentiousness, instead offering a nostalgic and welcoming atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. Stepping inside is like stepping back in time, but with a modern twist. The interior decor is authentically modest, a testament to simpler times. Vintage pie tins are cleverly displayed as wall art, and comfortable, mismatched chairs invite you to relax around worn wooden tables, each with its own unique story to tell. The overall vibe is undeniably warm and inviting, reflecting a simpler time while offering a genuinely modern baking experience. Head straight over to the fridge, a treasure trove of pie possibilities, showcasing a rainbow of tempting flavors. But let me tell you, the strawberry-rhubarb is an absolute must-try. It’s to die for! A perfect blend of sweet and tart, that irresistible gooey filling, a hint of warming cinnamon, with just the right amount of vanilla, and a satisfying textural contrast of the crust in every bite was perfect. It is literally one of the best pies I’ve ever had the pleasure of devouring. And don’t overlook the cookies! These were also crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside - brilliantly done, exhibiting the perfect balance of sweetness and coconut flavor. With just these two treats, I was already in a jovial mood, ready to embrace the day with a sugar-fueled smile. Beyond the barn itself, there are cute little spots sprinkled around outside, both on the patio and behind the Pie Box, perfect for finding your own little nook to enjoy your food and soak in the atmosphere. Now, for the only catch - price per slice of pie. Some might initially balk at the price, thinking it’s quite pricey. But I’d have to wholeheartedly disagree. I’d have to say, it is absolutely worth it. The quality of the ingredients, the care in the baking, and the overall experience justify the cost, and the time spent during the stop. We do it almost every time we make the trip home from Phoenix to our home in Prescott Valley. Hopefully, one day, they’ll make a peanut butter pie. Maybe one day they’ll surprise me.

We stopped on our way into town, to get a pie for a birthday celebration. We had a little sticker shock when we found the pies cost $28. But we figured they must be really good. We chose a banana cream pie. I would say the flavor was average, and I was disappointed in the ratio of filling vs whipped cream on top. I don’t think we’ll go again.

Yelp
Man these pies look so good I forgot to take a picture. The KEY LIME. Thats all I got to say about that! Kidding...... it's the best pie I've ever had. I didn't even know I'd eat key lime, but I'm addicted The Jack Daniel's Pecan is the best pecan pie I've had My Dad is addicted to the blueberry crumb The carrot cake- trying that later today but the gals swear it's so good I better get 2..... that is by the slice. $8.45 a slice better be good lol You get a free Rock Springs pie cutter/server knife when you buy 3 pies! We bought 4 pies today and 2 slices of cake

Yelp
I was passing by the area so decided to spontaneously stop by for a slice of pie. It was 106° outside and the pie box was air-conditioned and very peaceful, a great place to just enjoy a slice and relax. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and made my visit to this historical location that much more enjoyable. Rock Springs was established in 1918 and has a pioneering history to it that is very interesting. More things to do here than just eat pie, a great stop along highway 17 on a road trip.

Yelp
You want Pie! Because this place has pies of all types. It's like a little country store. The pies are huge and the staff was friendly. It's a little drive or ride from Phoenix but so worth it!

Brandon G.

Yelp
Always have to make a stop here anytime we head south on I17. The pies are so good and the decor inside always takes me back in time with all of the relics they have on display.

Yelp
Every type of pie you can imagine was here! They had cherry, apple, strawberry rhubarb, lemon, banana cream, chocolate cream, bourbon pecan, and blueberry. They also had cookies, cinnamon rolls, and breads. This place was so fun! It's pretty small in size, so be mindful of where you step.

Yelp
The pies were incredible! Freshly made and quick and easy service! Calm and quaint feel in and out! Great little pie store! Has a nice patio outside

Yelp
Not sure how many times I've pulled off the highway traveling between Sedona and Phoenix, for the sole purpose of shopping the Pie Box's, "Rock Shop", only to find it closed. Again. I'm certain, however, that this time will be the last time. I think it's also worth mentioning that every single thing sold at this tourist trap is over priced...all the way from their $10.00+ dry cinnamon rolls to their $4.39 gal gas, which I just paid $3.09 for in Cottonwood less than an hour ago. I will never stop again.

Yelp
They ship! Ordering rhubarb crumb when I get home. Yummy!!! Worth the stop on my way to the Phoenix airport.
