Since patient experience has not responded to my three emails I’m reviewing my recent experience at Piedmont Atlanta hospital. I was there from 11/18/2025-11/22/205. My recent hospitalization at Piedmont Atlanta following a 3 level back surgery has been one the worst experiences ever. The surgery went smoothly. The aftercare was not adequate at all. The first night the nurse was attentive somewhat because I was coming off of anesthesia and didn’t require much. I think it was Thursday that I had to ring the bell for assistance and then it took forever for people to respond. One night I was yelling out for someone to come so I could get pain meds because I couldn’t reach the call button. I asked the last to leave it on the bed. Obviously she didn’t do that because I couldn’t find or reach it. Medication was supposed to be given at 8:50 Pm she arrived at 11:14 pm saying she has my medication. My friend called one day to speak with the charge nurse about the lackluster care, she came in once. I don’t remember what she said. I think I felt better by Friday and asked to speak with the manager. I was told she was on vacation and no one was covering her. Then the tech comes in with the contact information for patient experience and within a few minutes someone from “patient experience” came in asking me why didn’t I want the nursing staff to walk me? Which was lie because I didn’t even know that was an option and my frustration was with the lackluster treatment from the nursing staff and medications. I don’t think she really addressed my concerns but she did state that pain medications were PRN. I didn’t know that either but I would think the nursing staff would check on their patients outside of treatment and lab checks. I didn’t have to “ask” for the pain medication any other time. There’s so much more I just can’t write it all. And on top of that the room was not kept too clean and didn’t even flush after me a few times. The last Tech threw the wipes in the toilet. After I already had told here they were not disposable. You wanna know how I know she threw them in the toilet because the last time I struggled to the toilet on my own the toilet was not flush. Your people need to do better. Teara the tech, Jennifer from OT and Clement from PT were great. It was an OT person and respiratory person that found me in distress and helped me. Jennifer really helped me after I had been laying in my urine for an hour. The nursing staff didn’t come or they came later. Even though I could barely walk I was so glad to go home.

My overall experience was very positive. The nurse who attended me was informative ( she explained the procedure and then followed up each time she performed a task in the procedure to make sure I understood, to determine if I had any questions, and to make sure that I was not experiencing any symptoms, especially pain). She started the IV without causing me any pain or discomfort, which is highly unusual given that my veins are small and tend to roll. It takes someone with experience, skill, patience, and care to perform as she did, remarkable in that there wasn't even discomfort. Again, she went over the procedure, highlighting possible side effects as well as what to do if I experienced problems after leaving the infusion room. I asked one question. She spent time and energy researching and came back to tell me what she found AND presented me with a written (hard copy) of her findings. I regret that I can't remember her name. She was a consummate professional and an exemplary health care provider. Because of her I do not have any emotional or mental blocks regarding future infusions. (I am scheduled for numerous infusions.) Feedback regarding other specific personnel. Although I have had numerous infusions (chemo, etc.) and hospital experiences, not once did anyone prepare me to wear a mask before entering the area. I would have appreciated a heads up. Naturally, upon arrival I was provided a mask and was asked to wear it. A very slight, but important point (being prepared would have been helpful). The most concerning aspect in the infusion room was the fact that the health care providers in charge did not ever introduce themselves nor stop by to check on me. I found this unusual and slightly disconcerting. I have had extensive medical experiences, both out patient and in patient treatments, some emergency, some scheduled. Always, the person in charge atleast greets me and usually comes to check on me, if only in a cursory manner. It did not appear that it was overly busy, or had any emergencies to be addressed. I was just surprised, especially given that I am scheduled to have multiple infusion visits. Again, a minor detail, but in comparison to the outstanding care I received it was very noteworthy. My perspective is that feedback is not intended to be criticism in any form. I am simply attempting to acknowledge remarkable care as well as share my previous health care experiences in comparison. It is possible that my expectations were unreasonable and/or I did not know the demands that were being addressed at that time. I have two health care doctors with Piedmont. I have a very positive relationship with both. We act in partnership when making decisions regarding my body's conditions and treatments. I respect and trust these practitioners. I think that they are "fabulous". Their names are: Dr. A. Iatridis (sleep/pulmanology) and Dr. W. Machua (rheumatology). I greatly appreciate their care. Sincerely, Erma Watson

How do you expect people to recover in such nasty conditions? This is atrocious!!! The ceiling is falling down with what looks like mold underneath the wallpaper, the floor is full of dirt and debris, the sink looks like crud all around it, the ceiling had god knows what on it. Update: Thanks to Lena, he was able to move into another room. Besides the old dirty floors, the only need is to replace a ceiling tile where it looks as though there is a water leak somewhere.

Piedmont Hospital has always felt like more than just a hospital to me. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re welcomed with kindness, compassion, and professionalism that immediately puts you at ease. Every experience I’ve had—whether through primary care or other levels of service—has been consistently positive. This visit was no exception. The care I receive at Piedmont feels personal, not transactional, and that makes all the difference. Because of my history with them, Piedmont will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Google
Piedmont Hospital is awesome!!! I am just now recovering from a recent surgery experience and while counting my blessings I think about how nice, attentive and professional EVERYONE was. Check in was seamless, organized, and so easy. The nurses, aides, PA's and Drs. in the pre-surgery area could not have been better! The pre-op RN, Alisa was an angel and very competent in her delivery of service. Once in the OR Dr. Greg Mitchell and the OR staff were at the ready to make certain I had the best possible outcome. What they do today with robotic surgery is nothing short of a miracle. Recovery was a little groggy for me, but I could hear people working hard on my behalf as I was awakening. Later on, in the hospital room, the care I received from EVERYONE was wonderful. The nurses, aides and a several student nurses did everything they could to make my stay as comfortable as possible. If you or a family member are considering a stay at Piedmont Hospital I can highly recommend this fine institution for your care! Blessed and Thankful FPL, Sr.

I recently gave birth to my son at Piedmont Atlanta, and it was truly an amazing experience from start to finish. We began our journey with Nurse Shelia, who was such a calming presence. She spent real time with us, made sure we never felt rushed, and was the perfect person to welcome us into labor and delivery. The next day, we had Nurse Carrie, and she was an absolute God-send. I genuinely loved her! She truly cares for her patients. I originally did not plan to get an epidural, but after she and I talked and tried other pain-management options, I decided to go ahead with it—and it ended up being the best decision. I progressed quickly, but my baby flipped breech at the last minute. Carrie could see how scared I was, and she did an incredible job explaining each step of what was happening. I couldn’t imagine having a better nurse during that moment. Once I got to the OR, my C-section went amazingly well. I was so nervous, but it felt like every single person in that room genuinely wanted the best for me. One of the nurses assisting with anesthesia was phenomenal—I wish I remembered her name. She had such a soothing presence and kept warm blankets on my arms and head to help with the terrible shakes I was having. She took such good care of me, and I’ll never forget her kindness. She was working with Dr. Long on 11/14 in the OR. A C-section was definitely not part of my original plan, but this entire team made sure I was as comfortable as possible and constantly reassured me that everything would be okay. Once we moved to the postpartum unit, the exceptional care continued. The staff anticipated my needs before I even realized I needed anything. Wendy and Terrica were both amazing and helped me manage my pain so well. I also appreciated how my doctors continued to come by and check on me. Dr. Counihan was incredible—she did such a great job with my surgery and was such a comforting, supportive presence throughout my recovery. I truly appreciated her. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. If I could add anything, I would love to see a few more TV channels and maybe a small refrigerator in the room—but I understand it’s a hospital, not a hotel. Even still, Piedmont Atlanta was an amazing place to deliver my baby, and I’m so glad I chose it.

Google
My wife stayed here for about a month. Overall the experience was ok. I think the best 2 things I learned was if you're gonna be there multiple days, buy a parking pass. You can come and go as you please. Second, sometimes you're better off skipping the bridge and walking around the outside of the hospital to the Marcus Heart and Vascular Center and check in there, it's less crowded. The nurses and respiratory people were mostly good from my point of view. I do think if you have a family member or you're in the hospital as a patient that you should keep someone with you as much as you can. They can't get away with certain stuff if someone is watching. Even if they don't really know what they're looking at, their presence matters. Get well soon to whoever reads this.

Google
The nurse was extremely friendly and professional, with excellent bedside manner. She provided clear and thorough pre-op instructions, making sure I understood every step of the process. Her calm and caring demeanor helped ease my nerves. I truly appreciated her attention to detail and compassion.

Yelp
The one of the best hospitals not only in Atlanta but in the South East. Doctors and nurses at Piedmont are on top of their field. The staff keeps this place functioning as good as any high traffic place you will go in Atlanta. Parking is easy and so is navigating the building. I have done countless visits to this hospital and always feel confident that the patients are being treated with the best practices, in fact I recommend it as the top place for medical procedures. The Marcus cardiac center is impressive. It is Located right off Peachtree Rd in Buckhead with spacious rooms and welcome / waiting area. Hospitals can be a depressing and intimidating experience, but every part of Piedmont Hospital is uplifting and relaxing. From the surgery center, to Emergency Room, to the general hospital this is the best there is.

Yelp
Most folks will find time to complaint but not to compliment. I can't thank Dr Anand and his staff at the endoscopy center enough for their care, concern and treatment of my sister's condition. We had a biopsy done there as well as a stent inserted to help liver function and Dr Anand was amazing. Thank you sir for all you do. Paul

Yelp
I recently had an emergency and went into pre-term labor at Piedmont, which is not the hospital my usual OB works at. I'm still recovering mentally and physically, but I wanted to take the time to commend Lydia in the ER for helping me feel safe and being kind while I waited to get a room and for my husband to arrive. When I was finally transferred to a L&D room, Aneeka (I hope I'm not misspelling her name) assisted me through the entire night and helped my husband and I get through what would be the worst 24hrs of our lives. Aneeka made sure to come back the next evening to check on me as soon as she reported back to work, even though she wasn't assigned to my room. Nurse Celia and doctor Meziere delivered our baby and ensured I was as comfortable as I could be during this unfortunate tragedy. The room was spacious and clean. It seemed recently renovated. I was provided with materials and resources for my aftercare at home. I hope they're able to see this and I hope I'm allowed to gift them something for handling me, my husband and baby Liam with care.

Yelp
My husband and I had to visit and stay at this hospital several times. But we both received great care. Staff was pleasant and helpful. However, this is a huge institution, and just a thought of it is scary, but considering the size of it, things seem to be running fairly well.

Yelp
The heart surgeon had more than a month to assess the issue with my mother's heart valve. The solution, mitraclips (3). Her heart surgeon literally told me, as they whisked her away, for the non-invasive heart valve procedure, "She will go home in 7 days." Well, she died in 7 days. AND, I NEVER HAD COMMUNICATIONS by this heart surgeon afterwards??!!!!! Another "Heart Specialist" took over??!!!! Piedmont ATL Hospital DID NOT ALLOW ME TO SPEND OVERNIGHT STAYS WITH MY MOTHER IN THE ICU, Room 4. That was THE TIME THAT SHE NEEDED ME THE MOST, or A LOVED ONE NEXT TO HER BEDSIDE!!!!!!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAD TO "go to sleep" at the hotel nearby, every night, WORRY AND FEEL HELPLESS NOT BEING ABLE TO HOLD MY MOM AND SING, TALK TO HER. HOW SCARY it was for my mother to have PM/AM nurses "taking care of her well-being".................. my mother heard everything, from the beeping sounds in her room and from afar, to the doctors and nurses laughing outside her room. GOD KNOWS HOW TERRIBLE THAT WAS. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE HER BACK THE HOMEOPATHIC & VITAMINS TO TAKE, it would've at least given my mother A SENSE OF COMFORT. Shift doctor told me that'd interfere with administrating whatever they were pumping into her body, including high dosages of morphine to numb her pain.... My mother died on March 25, 2022. I rushed to Piedmont ATL Hospital at 2 am, only to discover the oxygen mask was positioned in an awful manner, BLOWING INTO HER EYES??!!!!! I lowered the oxygen mask and held onto her right purple hand. MY MOM AND I, NEVER LOST EYE CONTACT. After my mother passed on, I HEARD THE NURSES outside her room, LAUGHING AND EATING SANDWICHES. THEY DIDN'T GIVE A F*CK, A S**T THAT MY MOM JUST DIED. I walked down the hallway to the exit door, AND EVEN THEN, NO ONE escorted me, and AT LEAST, express sympathy and compassion for losing a parent. Period. SO VERY HORRIBLE, AWFUL, HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! I AM STILL TRAUMATIZED BY THE LACK OF RESPECT FROM THE HEART SURGEON, THE "HEART SPECIALIST", AND ALL THE NURSES AT THE ICU that worked the PM/AM when my mom was ALONE AND AFRAID AF!!!!!!!!! Her heart surgeon should've been honest with me and state she won't survive the non-invasive surgery. He said, "It's always a risk", yet he had over a month of assessments with my mom. My mother really wanted to stay home and pass on in her lovely home. She died looking up at the white ceiling with the depressing fluorescent ceiling lights. TERRIBLE. I had mentioned to the nurses to please move "my mom's bed", FACING THE WINDOW, LOOKING OUT AT THE BEAUTIFUL BLUE SKY AND COLORFUL GEORGIA TREES. No, it didn't happen. My mother, an artist/writer/producer for Ted Turner and the U.S. Government, she was beyond humble, and she didn't have to tell Piedmont ATL Hospital this information. I AM. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO ADMIT HIS/HER LOVED ONE AT PIEDMONT ATLANTA HOSPITAL!!!!!!!! They didn't treat my mom as a HUMAN BEING, they treated her as Just another number. PIEDMONT ATL HOSPITAL, YOU OUGHT TO ALWAYS ALLOW A FAMILY MEMBER OR DEAREST FRIEND TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH AN ICU PATIENT. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
I will forever be grateful to Piedmont! They have taken great care of my loved ones throughout the years. Their cardiology center is the best in all of Georgia! Be forewarned that if you are visiting a patient here, you must bring ID to get registered. Visitation hours end at 9pm. Parking is free for the first 30 minutes and then $7 for up to 4 hours. It costs more after 4 hours, but I've never stayed longer so I don't recall the pricing. The hospital does not validate parking.
google avatar

Alex T.

Yelp
Piedmont is usually pretty good / but the emergency room is a joke. So much for having an emergency. Everyone knows a trip to the ER is super expensive. And the fact I was with a pregnant friend who thought she was having complications and had to wait 7 hours to be seen (still waiting as I text) is unacceptable. Staffing needs to be adjusted because the quality of service and care and at a low!

Miranda H.

Yelp
I'm not certain I can adequately put into words how inefficient the parking system is at this hospital. Heaven forbid you are ever plagued with the misery of visiting an unwell family member at this hospital. If you are trying to enter the main tower, get ready to waste a good 20 minutes of your life. First, you must make it through the shitstorm of cars in the roundabout area where cars are gridlocked trying to drop off food delivery, picking up patients, wait on valet, or simply hang out. Once you finally make it to the valet area, you're obligated to pay $12. (Before you suggest self-parking, please know that that the self-parking decks are on the complete opposite side of the campus with no clear directions of how to even begin to make the trek to the main tower.) After payment, you can enter the building and join the long line of people to eventually receive a visitor's pass. Have fun standing there while every person has to submit their ID for scanning and have a pass printed for them. This sounds like a quick process but I can assure you you'll be standing at the counter wondering how a hospital can be so inefficient for several minutes. Once you've finally received your pass, hurry up and wait because 2 of the 3 elevators for a 14-floor building are out of service! If this says anything, our family member was on the 14th floor and we were looking for the stairs as an option. The care we received here was great. But I'm writing this with the hope that someone higher up will see this and fix this broken parking system. For such a nice, new, big facility... you'd think they'd have something a little better orchestrated.

Ja'un P.

Yelp
They saved my life. Suffered from an aneurism and they took great care of me. A year later I'm 100% healthier than I have been in a long time. Feeling great.

Yelp
My wife just delivered twins at Piedmont Atlanta and has seen her OB (Dr. Kathleen Khan) since the beginning. Our Piedmont experience was 10/10. The new L&D is beautiful and everyone is very nice and accommodating for patient and spouse. Dr. Ottensmeyer delivered my wife and she was great! The postpartum experience is 10/10 too. Rooms are not as nice but they have a 24/7 newborn nursery, which helped us get some sound sleep between feeding without the worry of watching a newborn. We came home refreshed, which is much much needed! The pediatrician, OB follow-up as well as lactation consulting services are fantastic. I'm a physician myself in another system (Emergency Medicine) and I without a doubt recommend Piedmont. If you end up at Piedmont, lactation gives you a feeding schedule for the first week. This is single handedly the best resource we were given to use at home. Take a picture of it immediately!

Yelp
The Daytime ER Nurse THOMAS has been AMAZING! He has really taken care of me since I entered the ER. When I had to use the toilet he took me and brought me back to my room with no sense of feeling like I inconvenienced him. Then he LISTENED to me when I told him I go frequently and he asked if I would prefer a device. It was properly placed and still worked perfectly after 10 uses or more. He actually came to check on me and my husband and when I mentioned that we had not watten anything all day, he brought us turkey sandwiches and juices. Wow. This since of humanity and decency may nit seem like big deal to most but it truly is a big deal to me and I am eternally thankful to Nurse Thomas for being an awesome E R NURSE at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta. I feel very well taken care of.

Deb S.

Yelp
Went here due to a sense of urgency and regret it. No words can describe how bad our experience was here. Literally, go anywhere else. I'm considering all my options at this point.

Brittany G.

Yelp
These people do not care about the patients that walk in to this ER. It's ridiculous how long patients have to wait to be seen. Currently dealing with abdominal pain and has been sitting over 3 hours and has yet to be seen. There's no communication amongst nurses and patients or front desk. They don't think the amount of pain someone is going through is that important so what's the point of an ER when they don't treat it as such. This hospital treat more homeless than the people who have insurance!

Ananda P.

Yelp
My nurse Giana was great. Between piedmont urgent care and the actual ER- its as if i wasted my time. They started immediately upon my arrival. However, if you have Sickle Cell anemia or any specialized blood condition, do not come here. They (the doctors) do not know much which is scary.

Scott W.

Yelp
I have driven by Piedmont hospital for years. Never needed anything. When my mom was ill we brought her here. I would tell everyone to pick a different hospital. They are so unorganized , rude, people you could ever encounter..doctors do not communicate with staff, very unorganized group not sure about other Piedmont facilities Piedmont Hospital on Peachtree is awful
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
I have never seen such an unorganized and lack of professionalism in a hospital setting. You have Rockdale Piedmont that does not have the man power to run a facility and so they constantly reschedule your appointments to the point that they don't even help you reschedule they just point you back to your doctor. Rockdale's imaging department gives you bad news like in my case, possible breast cancer and then they leave you in the dark and make you chase them for weeks on end. You go through painful mammo and ultrasound biopsies just to be told that the image they saw may have been you taking a breath so they need to start all over again and send you on another wild goose chase. You have Henry Piedmont that is so rude, just unbelievably rude to you. They too like to reschedule your appointments at the last second as if you have nothing better to do then wait on them. They don't return phone calls, they send you all around the world and then back again because they all say what your needing is not their job. You sit and worry with every passing day that you may have breast cancer and all you want to do is get medical care. No one should have to be this stressed out. And that is what Piedmont does best! Stress you out! If you are in any situation where you can go elsewhere, please do. Don't be stuck in limbo like me for months on end worrying and waiting. Piedmont is not health care, they are a nightmare.
google avatar

Lee C.

Yelp
Good hospital but you have to question the medical degrees of some of the nurses on the 5th floor. They want to give you shots and medication you don't need Plus they can't fix the AC units that are broken
google avatar

Regina B.

Yelp
This hospital is TERRIBLE!! The nurses lack compassion. They only want to sit at a desk on their phones. Or stand in the highway and talk to each other. They leave patients wet and soiled for HOURS!! They don't know how to do something as simple as draw blood. it's ridiculous. People seem to get worse when they come to this hospital.

Freddye J.

Yelp
Was admitted through the ED. Went because of low potassium, admitted to neuro unit (?), 14th floor. Nurses seemed uptight unless they were laughing and talking at the nurses station. My room was right across from there, and they were too loud and it didn't matter what time of the day or night it was. Their noise was loud enough to disturb my sleep. Did not receive two meals. Found out I was in an isolation room (had a cold) and dietary would not enter. Found that out the day I left. Wish someone would have told me. I could have walked out the room and picked up the tray. Was never given a choice of foods, and suspect some trays I did get were incomplete. Not enough food to sustain me, and I don't eat much. Food not appetizing at all. Some techs very pleasant, and others showed in their attitude they would rather be anywhere but there. I do not wish to go back to Piedmont because of this experience. Oh yes! Nurse Carli in ED the one bright spot.

Solai M.

Yelp
The doctors and nurses are very unprofessional and nasty! They lack compassion in a field to help people, they're only there for a check and gossip! They will disclose your information out loud and share it around. Do not and I repeat DO NOT let Doctor Martha James treat you! She will violate your rights if you dare to speak up!

Mary K.

Yelp
Super care. Great place if you have to be sick. We had a few problems with the 5th floor nurses. But other than that I would highly recommend this place.

Chris V.

Yelp
After going to Urgent Care and being told to go to ER for my dad... Took my father to Peidmont Hospital ER because he was extremely dehydrated and his blood pressure was dropping and causing sever lightheadedness. We sat there for almost six hours and never got seen. They even put security outside the waiting room so that people wouldnt leave to be in the hallway unless being asked to come for treatment. At midnight, we left, exhausted, untreated, with a plan we put together to help him recover. The hospital didnt care that we were leaving and showed no remorse for making an 81 year old man wait for 6 hours in their waiting room. So poorly run, its shocking...

Helen K.

Yelp
Do not come to their ER. You will be lucky to make it it Alive! The staff in the ER is rude incompetent and lack empathy. It took 6 hours to get pain meds And 8 hours for a very very painful ectopic pregnancy.

Will C.

Yelp
Great service. I went in for a colostomy reversal and overall I had a great experience before and after as well.

Michele B.

Yelp
I am here in Atlanta for work and I went to the ER last night in excruciating pain and blood coming out of my left ear... I was worried to go to an ER out of state, but this couldn't have been a better experience from the reception to the triage to the nurse and the nurse practitioner that treated me. Everyone was so kind and expeditious in getting me through the process because I was in so much pain, it was the best experience I have ever had in an emergency room situation. I expected to wait hours and was in and out and under an hour.

Valerie W.

Yelp
We received great care from guest services, linen team, care techs, nurses, nurses(yep, they deserve at the very least a double shout out)valet, info desks, public safety and of course the Drs! Also, the Pt/Ot teams and respiratory services! Staying still in ICU 3East and the ICU team is amazing! Great job all around Piedmont Atlanta!! You guys should be very proud of yourselves to have this sort of service across the board!! Next time me or mine need care, we will be coming here. Thanks to all of you! Tim and Valerie White

Yelp
hi all! i am writing this on behalf of my grandfather, Michael Watt. He came to piedmont with a small bowel obstruction. because Piedmont was irresponsible in his case, he died. because he did not receive the care he NEEDED, his organs started to fail. he died the day after Christmas. i would not wish someone being in a hospital crying because a hospital was irresponsible and essentially killed their grandpa on CHRISTMAS DAY on anyone. after this, i found out through legal processes that Piedmont altered the true file he had on them to prevent being sued. sadly we were unable to sue. now, my grandma is lonely after having her spouse of over 60 years wrongfully taken from her. i know a review isn't gonna bring my grandfather back to me, but i hope this can help another family go to another hospital so they can keep their grandpa alive because another hospital gave him proper care. it was the hardest thing i have EVER had to go through, and it was all because Piedmont hospital was irresponsible and unorganized. i will die on that hill. he should still be here today but Piedmont wrongfully took his life. PLEASE avoid this hospital at all costs. i don't want this story to be you.

Yelp
I had an emergency surgery and needed to stay here for 4 nights. The nurses & doctors we're great except for 1 nurse who delayed my pain meds.

Yelp
This is long and important if you want good healthcare. Stay away from Piedmont. Let us begin with 6/22/22 when I had a slip and fall and taken to Piedmont Eastside. The care and attention I received, related by my friend, said they were awful and she had a panic attack because it was so bad. Surgery followed the next day and then on the the 26th I discovered they took me off of my depression medicine. This was the first time in my life I had met all 4 stages for Suicide. Thankfully, my son recognized how bad I was and insisted I get back on the Meds. I was left in a full urinated diaper for 5 hours, buzzed and buzzed, and had skin breakdown. The excuse was "we were with another patient". After several days I declined any and all glucose sticks and they were very aware. Thursday the 30th a male nurse came in and I refused the stick so he took my breakfast. I went postal and several came to my room. Shortly there after Mr. High and mighty returned to room with my breakfast try. I refused it because at that point I had no idea where it was, if others looked or breathed on it. Thank God I was discharged that day! 12/21/22 I reached over a Rubbermaid container and hear my chest wall crack. 12/22/23 my son took me to the hospital and they did one, yes count it one xray. It mentioned a collapsed lower right lung. They never investigated all the other issues. My chart stated chest pain and pain on left side. Why would you not have listened to the patient and taken X-rays of the sternum and left side? Beyond negligent. I suffered for an additional week! This is as Piedmont Eastside. I muddled through Christmas and did admit to them I had taken more of the tramadol and toradol they prescribed because the pain was immense. On 12/27 I fell and was found outside my son's apartment. An ambulance came with me arriving at Piedmont Atlanta about 5 pm. Lack of concern doesn't even describe it. They wanted to do a CT of the brain to ensure I didn't have a brain bleed. When the ambulance arrived I did tell them I hit my head. I waited approximately 7 hours and not one time did anyone check to make sure I didn't have a concussion or even die in the waiting room. I finally left and took a Lyft back to my son's apartment. On 12/29/22 I couldn't breathe or walk unaided. Back to Piedmont Eastside. A very through exam with X-rays, CT, etc. It was discovered I had a broken sternum and ribs. No wonder I couldn't breathe. There is absolutely no doubt this happened on 12/21, but they failed to do a thorough exam, CT or X-rays. Piedmont Eastside said they had no rooms and I was left in an observation room the entire 8 days. No bathroom, bedside commode wasn't emptied on a regular basis and the wrong catch was used. Ironically, a CNA would scold me for putting wipes in the catch basin without offering a solution on how I could reach the trash can. When the incorrect catch was used it caused the catch pan to send urine from the left side of the room all the way to the doorway. This caused urine to be all over me and the entire room. It was wiped up but never cleaned like a floor should be. No hot water to wash or shower (I'll add it was super creepy being taken to a shower where anyone could access). 8 days without a shower, washing my hands, brushing my teeth, and so on. My meal trays were just piled right inside the door. I had no way to reach these trays. The bed was in the middle of the room. If I needed to use the bedside commode I had to disconnect everything to reach the commode. I literally thought I was in the basement. Not one time did anyone come in and clean the floors that had someone else's dried blood on the floor and dried blood on the bedside table that rolls with your food. Sheets were never changed, etc. Another ironic experience was one of the few times I had a tray it was chicken Parmesan. The problem is if you can't cut your food are you to eat like a barbarian? Keep in mind my hands hadn't been washed the entire time. I asked for breathing treatments. It was several days before respiratory therapy came. This made a huge difference to help me. Imagine if it was ordered upon admission and not 4 days later. Thank God I was discharged on 1/5/23. For months I complained the sternum didn't heal properly and I kept getting the same response "It takes time". The pain was awful through these months. The end of April I noticed a chest deformity and went to urgent care (Not a Piedmont facility). That doctor was a quack and said it was a lipoma. On 5/9/23 I went back to my regular doctor because the deformity was very pronounced and he ordered at CT stat. No where in the report did it talk about the sternum not healed and one part was now spaced, jagged, and in front of the other part. I called Piedmont on on 6/13 to advise the narrative didn't match the actual CT. Ellen Nicholas advised me it was reviewed by another radiologist and they agreed with the first radiologist. Extremely inept!

Yelp
Went here to deliver my babies twice. I had two pandemic babies (June 2020 and the other in Aug 2021). I must say the care that I had as an African-American woman was phenomenal. I mentioned being an African-American woman only because it's been all over the news that the child birth death rates for African-American women in Atlanta Georgia has been an extremely high. I've been seeing Dr Julia Combs since 2015 as my GYN. When I found out I was pregnant, I had all types of emotions and to add fuel on the fire it was during the Covid 19 pandemic. When I elected to have a C-section for personal reasons, I was comfortable and confident in the doctors I was seeing because they assured my husband and I that we were in great hands. From the care, to the food, to the recovery, I have no complaints. I would recommend this hospital to anybody.

Yelp
I truly do not feel there are words to properly express how appreciative I am in regards to the treatment I just received in this emergency department. I am from out of state and this is the first time I've left my apartment for the majority of the past year; I am chronically ill and have a very serious, painful and progressive disease. That disease tried to ruin me, last night, after making it impossible to eat or drink for days, and depriving me of sleep. After being up all night experiencing worsening symptoms, calling my doctor back home for his opinion, and being told to go to the emergency department immediately, I became overwhelmed with the sheer number of emergency departments in Atlanta, and had no idea where to turn. I took some medicine, attempted to relax in bed for an hour and read every review on this app for every hospital in ATL, and decided on Piedmont. I hobbled in their doors with my cane at approximately 5:00pm, was checked in by 5:05pm, sat down briefly and then taken to triage (where a nurse took my history and a provider took my chief complaint, both whom were extremely kind and sympathetic) at 5:15, sat down in the lobby for another few moments and was then taken back to my clean, private room at 5:37. My own nurse was super empathetic and expressed her disappointment on my behalf, having to see Atlanta like this, but promised I'd be well cared for; I was absolutely well cared for. Within the first ten minutes in the room, I'd had blood drawn, an IV placed, nausea and pain meds administered, IV fluids transfusing and had been seen by my doctor (Dr. Sue, you're FANTASTIC; I can't remember all of the nurses that helped me, but OLIVIA, JEREMY and ALL of my nurses were INCREDIBLY empathetic and very obviously loved their jobs)! My disease causes my veins to be fragile, thin and small, and usually it takes 3-7 sticks to get an IV in me--Jeremy got it on the first try. It infiltrated an hour later after a few doses of meds, which I predicted for them would happen, and it took three more tires between two nurses to get my second IV, which is still better than most. Trust me. It took less than five hours from the second I walked thru the front doors to being discharged, and that time included drinking contrast over the course of an hour for CT, getting that CT, xrays, waiting on the results for them and my labs and having my pain medicated. I received pain medicine approximately every hour, and they tried to convince me to let them admit me because I was still in intense pain, not any better when I left, really, and they were worried. They wanted to *admit me for pain control and observation* due to my disease; we assume a specific issue is developing but won't know for a day or two, and by then I'll be home and treated there, which makes me sad. I'd rather it be here. I know my body and once an acute emergency was ruled out didn't want to have to stay, but PROMISED I'd come back to this hospital if I take a turn for the worse, and I meant it! I haven't felt so seen, so heard and so *important* to medical staff in a long time, let alone a strange, new medical doctor in the ED I'm presenting to from out of state. THANK Y'ALL SO MUCH. You saved me today. Complaints: *forcing patients in an emergency situation to pay for parking in your garage *an admin employee had no place coming into my room and attempting to explain to me (incorrectly) that I wasn't getting more pain meds (which was wrong); she upset and distressed me for no reason *nothing else comes to mind! More commendable things: *I am uninsured and was treated like a damn princess, as far as I'm concerned, and wasn't asked for a dime up front *it was easy to see the staff generally got along and cared for each other and their patients, making the environment feel safe *well lit, clean, decent location in comparison to other ATL hospitals, security, well staffed (as far as evenings go). I didn't eat the food so cannot rate it!

Yelp
My entire process of giving birth was great! My labor and delivery nurses (Taylor, Kyra, and Veronica) were AMAZING!!! I had so much anxiety prior from my first time giving birth in Florida and this experience was completely different. They treated me like TRUE FAMILY and it felt like I had known them for years, I didn't even share my experience until afterwards and I feel so lucky to have had all three of them take care of me during their individual shifts. Event the next day Taylor and Kyra came to my antepartum room and checked on me and I felt so seen and loved. I just truly appreciate seeing people loving what they do while also doing their job very well.

Yelp
This hospital system is insanely bad. If you hate someone who is sick, send them here. My mother was left laying without pain or care for nearly 12 hours. No rooms available. They blamed it on lack of staff. Additionally, they have bizarre Covid policies that lack common sense. Nurses sit as a group at their station without mask and you're allowed to not wear mask, but if you or staff get up and go somewhere, you have to wear a mask or be yelled at. Keep in mind, when they come into your room, they have it below their nose. Go to Northside Hospital instead. Still sitting here after 12 hours waiting on a room. I know they have them, multiple doctors said they have plenty, but can't get people out in them due to staffing.

Yelp
Dr. Adams in the ER is a true POS. I came in with severe back pain. He diagnosed me as having a UTI and told me I was just "seeking pain meds". The next day I had a CT and was diagnosed with severe kidney stone and needed emergency surgery. I would never go back there again.

Yelp
My experience was not good I had a relative get checked in and they had a heart to the young lady her name was Tina Me sitting on the outside waiting to see how my loved one operation went it was horrible I would never forget it. But I can say once they got in surgery was done with the nurses on floor number 6 in the OR... What's awesome my family member is still in there but on another floor .. I will definitely give you a update but I'm hoping that everything goes well until they discharge

Yelp
When I found out I was going to have a premature baby I went to visit different NICU and PICU. I felt something different about Piedmont and chose to deliver my child there. It was super convenient. My doctor's office was literally across the way in another building and my now five year old son attend Piedmont Pediatrics right across the way as well. The staff was very enjoyable. Very punctual and kind. The nurses in the PICU and NICU was so patient with me. They were extremely enjoyable.

Yelp
This hospital is by far the worst hospital i have ever been to . My friend has been here for over a month and is suffering and going through her hardest times. No ones seems to care, or make sure she is comfortable as she can be. with me still having to work, I will call to check up on her and every one never want to give me an update. I am putting a rush on her transfer. The nurses do not have any remorse and care for the patients at all.

Yelp
Piedmont Atlanta Marcus Heart Center is the best. I had a heart procedure and was very frightened. They made me feel comfortable and safe. Every single person I came in contact with was kind and caring, from registration to Dr. Edward Clermont who performed my procedure. Nice music in the cath lab was very soothing. They explained everything thoroughly and were very protective of my privacy. If I have to have another it will be much easier because of their kindness.

Yelp
I'm not using this hospital again. It's been three months since I had a surgery and the billing still isn't straightened out. I was overbilled and they can't seem to apply money I prepaid after all this time. Additionally, communication has been poor across the board. Don't give them any "prepayment" money. The billing software system (PatientCo) can't accurately process the prepayment. When you log in you simultaneously see that your recent bill has been deducted from your prepayment (as one might expect), yet they are also sending you a bill at the same time so it looks like double billing. Apparently the PatientCo software deducts all your bills from the prepayment automatically even though that isn't what they are doing in real-life. Confused yet? Also, I had no explanation up front of what I prepaid for (I assumed the cost after insurance of the entire procedure). I still don't know what I prepaid for; I only know that they can't seem to allocate it anywhere after three months... meanwhile, getting bills on top of that. It would have been beyond helpful to know upfront that I will be getting X amount of bills and have this information also in their online billing system. I should see a line item for each expected bill, and then the amount once it is posted and then successful payment marking after payment made. You're welcome. PLUS, someone marked the anesthesia as out-of-network either in error or as a scam. I'm sorry... if this hospital is in my network, all services at the hospital should be in network. Because of this, I absolutely do not recommend surgery here because guess what? You may have to pay for an out-of-network service. PLUS, I know there are good staff members, but the surgeon I had gave very little information throughout the entire process AND OVER BILLED me. I can see how it was an accident, but it is a total nightmare to resolve on top of the magical mystery tour that my prepayment money is on. Let's just hope that error is accurate per his explanation, as otherwise, I got a procedure I didn't want. I don't have much faith in a hospital that can't get its paperwork straight. It has caused extreme inconvenience. At most I should have spent 15 minutes to go online and pay bills and move on with life. Instead I have to make multiple calls, send multiple messages to PatientCo, Piedmont Hospital and my insurance company in a suck-ass rat-hole maze of billing problems.

Yelp
Don't go to Piedmont....bad on all accounts... you never see the doctors,...case manager said your husband can't live here... knowing we could not take care of him... it's the money....your insurance is not what they expected you are out of there.....do not go there...deaf sentence.

Yelp
Terrible Hospital to investigate their dangerous breast surgeons who disfigured patient. Wrote to Dr. Cohen, the Executive of the Piedmont Hospital and he referred the case to Dr. Robert Miller. Dr. Miller ignored the seriousness of the injury to the cancer patient and sexual attempt by one of their breast surgeons. There is no safe-guard of patients in this hospital. Surgeons who have been involved in this case are: Dr. William A. Barber and Dr. John Symbas. Stay away!

Yelp
The staff was so kind. My mom went to the emergency room to go get a x-ray and we didn't even have to sit for 5 minutes until someone came to get us. I highly recommend coming here for any of your emergencies. Best Customer service.

Yelp
Can you give negative stars? Being here is never pleasant. This is one of the few times I have been here when the cafeteria, The Colier Cafe, was open. As was expected, the food was very tasteless and piled into a white box. What was not expected was the rude way the I was greeted was not, nor was the rude cashier. It seems if you are not a regular customer, hospital employee, these folks could care less about you. They need to understand that many of the people who eat there have never been there before. Nor will they ever return. I guess, for their sake, and that they are government funded. They would not survive as a normal restaurant.

Yelp
This hospital is very inefficient. Most of the nurse staff was nice, but making us sit in the waiting room for 8 hours just to see the doctor with no explanation is ridiculous. Definitely will not be back and recommend you don't bring your loved ones here in any case of emergency.

Yelp
I had a cardiac procedure done in the Marcus Tower and had to stay overnight. Unfortunately, due to a lack of beds on the upstairs floors, I was put into a "room" in the ARU. This "room" was more a bay for after-procedure recovery with no doors, just a curtain that let in a lot of light and sound. I do not think this is an area/room for a person recovering from a heart procedure to be put in. I heard every trash can liner changed by environmental services, every clang from the housekeeping cart, and the voices of staff at the nurses' station. The nurses did put me as far from the station as possible and that was appreciated. All of the staff that afternoon and night in the ARU were great and I have no concerns about them as they were all caring, patient, and supportive. My only other concern involves patient communication. Prior to my procedure, I was not kept informed about the delay (1 1/2 hours) in getting to the procedure room despite having called twice on the call light and twice asking staff passing by my pre-procedure bay area. I understand that things happen in a busy department but keeping the patients informed is so very important. Otherwise, my stay was good! Nancy C

Yelp
Their billing department is the WORST you'll deal with in the health industry. They don't file claims correctly. As a result, your insurance company will DENY the claim. Also, I've given them my proper mailing address many times. They continue mailing bills to the WRONG ADDRESS. Because it's mailed to the wrong address, it doesn't get noticed/paid. So, then they'll turn you over to collections. It all starts with them NOT FILING THE CLAIM CORRECTLY. Please please please listen to me...STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL.

Yelp
This is the absolute worst hospital I have ever been to. I thought Henry Medical Center was bad, but this one has it beat.

Yelp
If you're going to have cardiac surgery in Atlanta area I could not recommend Piedmont Hospital more highly. The building the amenities but most importantly the knowledge and support of the staff is overwhelmingly positive.
