Piedra - Review - Surquillo - Lima - The Infatuation

"Piedra is small, low-key, and unpretentious, with just a few tables and daily changing dishes shaped by whatever the local pantry and the seasons send—and that’s exactly why we love it. At this Peruvian seafood “omakase,” you trust the whims of the chef Sebastián Vega. The beauty is how you'll delight in marine flavors and clever twists on traditional recipes: ceviches, scallops, and rice dishes with seafood find an elegant balance, lightly bright with acidity. The crema volteada dessert is outstanding. Just be sure to book ahead. RESERVE A TABLE" - Paola Miglio

This place was a surprise. I wasn’t planning on going there because I had no reservation but someone canceled and I got in with my friend. The 7-course meal was outstanding, one of the best ones I’ve had. This place has potential to be one of the top 10 in Lima. And the service also very professional.

I had different expectations for Piedra, the food was ok not what I expected. My self and my son went to Piedra, and the food was very small even thought it was a taste menu for the money we paid it was NOT ok. it was supposed to be a 8 course menu and they did only 7 not sure why. Would not recommend if you want a meal for 2 people we had to share some items. Thanks for the experience but would not be coming back. By the way the Flan was extra $$ and it was delicious.

Piedra came highly recommended by a Peruvian friend, and somehow it still exceeded expectations! Everything was 10/10 from the quality of fish to the flavors to the service. The 9 course menu (8 fish, 1 dessert) plus 3 drinks ended up being around $100 - a lot for lunch but well worth it. I loved the Asian influence in some of the dishes (ponzu sauces, lychee leche de Tigre) and the attention to detail with finishing touches like special oils or salts. I especially loved the sashimi of two temperatures - one side raw, one side broiled at the table - that I was told to eat in one bite. The tiradito was the best I’ve had, and aside from the fish dishes, the house pisco sour that was a little spicy as well as the flan-esque dessert were both divine. The service was also spot on - attentive but not overly formal - and I appreciated the servers patience with me when I asked him to repeat things or speak more slowly because my Spanish is far from perfect. Overall, can’t recommend enough!

It was an amazing experience, best leche de tigre ever. Period. 10/10 would reccomend. Absoulte value for the money. Awesome drinks too. Forgot to take picture of the puding before devouring it 95% 😹. Im a picky eater and this one was really great 🤤

Very creative seafood dishes, beautifully presented, but hit and miss on flavor and balance. Friendly, very personal service. Cute setting. And while I love the mystery of not knowing what's on the menu until it arrives, I'm not as thrilled with not knowing what I'm going to be charged for it. It's not outrageous, but it is expensive.

Would come back only for this one Ceviche. Smoked razor clams and shrimps in ceviche.. Such a great combination! Lychee sauce a bit hard to taste.. But solid presentation Arroz! I am a fan on concolon, burned part of the bottom, with a base of chupe... A MUST! I wanted to add aji but no need.. It's very tasty... Giant shrimp... The sauce was great and the cook was just right! Degollador... A MUST refreshing recommended drink with Pisco! No photo, it was too good Overall great presentation, service, and quality. Its probably one of the best Ceviche restaurants in Peru with innovative creations and great balance. Its not a traditional Ceviche place since they have create, within the seafood traditional dishes, some new great creations. Make a reservation before going, usually its packed.
