The 15 Best Pies In London - London - The Infatuation

"Bistro Freddie shows how well a charming, twinkling atmosphere mixes with pies that are about as dainty as a pair of Timberlands. The shallow, golden creations from this stylish Shoreditch French restaurant are filled with a variety of changing delights. Be it a creamy chicken velouté with a dangerously gluggable sauce, or a tender beef tongue and brisket combination that’s best approached with a bottle over lunch and an OOO email afterwards." - jake missing

Steak and Stilton pie was good! The rosemary fries very tasty! Need to come back and try more of the pies to give a better review. They host a free comedy night every Tuesday which was amazing! Enjoyed a great dinner and show on a weekday.

The Piehole Shoreditch is a fantastic little pub that serves amazing food. We opted to eat outside at a street front table. I ordered the pie and mash with mushy peas and grilled onions. I didn't know how good a beef pie with gravy could taste until I had the food from the Piehole. My dinner companion ordered the funghi chicken pie and thoroughly enjoyed it. We shared a serving of sticky toffee pudding with custard for dessert. Words aren't enough to describe the flavors of the pudding and warm toffee and custard. If you find yourself on Shoreditch High Street be certain to drop in on the Piehole Shoreditch for a deliciously satisfying meal you won't soon forget!

Just a shame it wasn’t very busy. Otherwise hard to find fault. Great service, great food and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Like a small but well executed menu - wings and avocado dip tortillas a great start. The Kate Sidney and Filo Souk Chook were both tasty pies with gravy and the rosemary fries were delicious. Owner couldn’t have been more attentive and popped nextdoor (they also own) to get a pint off the pump. Would definitely recommend.

We arrived for an early evening meal as we have a young baby, and soon realised there wasn’t any suitable seating available (our fault, as I’d only booked for two adults). The staff were incredibly friendly and immediately offered a solution: they own the pub next door and were happy to seat us there instead if it would be more comfortable. It was such a thoughtful and unnecessary gesture, but one we really appreciated. The food was fantastic as well, making the whole experience brilliant from start to finish. Thank you!

*** Updated Review *** Finally got back to Shoreditch to find this place open. I thought I’d give it a chance as my previous experience had been to book and turn up to find it closed. Anyway, I had the bruschetta starter, and as I couldn’t decide on the various options & combinations of pies, I went for the recommendation of a pie meal, in this case the ‘Mother Earth’, the mushroom pie on a bed of mash, the mushy peas on top of the pie, all sprinkled with crispy onion. The bruschetta was passable, well presented. The pie itself was okay, it wasn’t mind blowing, maybe my expectations were too high. In hindsight the sprinkled crispy onions were overpowering, so maybe give them a miss. The atmosphere was dark, candlelit, and perhaps more suited to a date night. The service was decent and attentive. All in all, this was okay, but I felt that it was more style over substance.

Excellent crusty pies and rosemary chips. There is an excellent comedy night every Tuesday run by 2nd Row Comedy and Luke Ditchfield. It's free to attend and they programme up and coming comedians every week. Worth checking out!
