The atmosphere is hard to beat. The food is what you’d expect from a bar. Fish tacos were good but you won’t mistake it for a gourmet seafood restaurant. The service was OK just seemed like they had a lot of tables per server so they were stretched then. It’s a great place to watch the beach while you eat, even though you may have to fight off a few birds as you’re trying to eat your French fries. If you are busy, the beach near the pier I’ll recommend you eat here out of convenience.

I ordered the shrimp tacos and fried flounder — both were delicious. The frozen margarita was tasty and refreshing, although it didn’t have much of an alcohol kick. We sat out on the patio, which had a nice view and a relaxing vibe. The biggest issue was the service. The food takes a bit long so when we asked our server about it, she replied that it had only been ten minutes — with an unfriendly expression. She never came by to check on us during the meal, we have to ask for water and silverware. Also, she also forgot our soup. Everything else was lovely, but the service experience could’ve been much better.

5 Stars! The Pier at Folly Beach absolutely delivered! The food was top notch — fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The staff was incredibly friendly and on point the entire time, making the experience even better. And you just can’t beat that view — absolutely stunning! Prices were reasonable too, which was a nice surprise. We would (and definitely will) be back again. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Folly Beach!

Google
Food was fabulous! We had chicken fingers, turkey club wrap, French fries, and Pier salad add chicken. I do not know how they season that chicken breast, but it was sooo good! Definitely had cilantro and maybe lemon and pepper. The strawberry margarita was okay. Could have used a bit more strawberry puree. There was also live entertainment. He had not started singing before we left, but the seagull was a great opening act.

Google
The place is in a beautiful location right at the pier. The decor is well done and maintained. The layout was open but not too loud. The food was tasty. I had She crab soup which was perfect! Well seasoned and had a healthy portion of crab. I also had blackened fish tacos which were good but not great. A little tough to eat the way they were served. We also had fried pickle chips which were good as well. The place is worth the visit if for nothing but the soup and atmosphere!

Google
I can't speak for the food, but the cocktails 🍹 are great! Especially the frozen and specialty cocktails. I don't often splurge on the high-cal drinks. These are worth the calorie treat 😎 Take a seat at the outside bar for the ocean view & breeze 🏖️

My boyfriend and I visited here with some friends while visiting Charleston and had a great experience! The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating and we decided to sit inside because it was a pretty windy day. The inside area is decorated super cute and on theme for being right on the beach. Our server was absolutely amazing! I wish I caught her name, she truly gave us a great experience with being the perfect level of attentive and making sure everything was right for us. I ordered the Cajun pasta and it was so good it’s been days since I’ve had it and it made me want to come back and leave a review. They offer a range of food options that are a little bit on the pricey end, but I think it makes sense considering the location and type of food they serve. My boyfriend ordered a seafood plate and our friends ordered the same pasta I did and a Philly cheesesteak and loved their food as well. If we’re ever in the area again I’d definitely come back!

While staying at Tides, we ate there twice this past weekend. May 15th for dinner, no problems, good food, service, and view! On Saturday, May 17th, we walked into the restaurant at 10:04am and the fellow inside said they would reopen at 11am for lunch. I explained it says they serve breakfast until 10:30 on the website. He said they stop seating at 10am. I again told him the website did not mention anything about that and asked if we could order to go. Then he said he would go ahead and seat us. Our waitress was not happy and it showed. We decided to sit inside this time because we just needed to hurry, eat, and leave. They did not want to be bothered. The waitress was very rude. Many more people were turned away before 10:30. On our way back into the hotel, we passed a sign (See pic) advertising breakfast on the Pier until 10:30. So which is it?

Yelp
The food was Surprisingly great! Brie was very attentive and efficient. On a SLOW Monday night right before the kitchen closed, my wife & I had a great meal!!

Yelp
I really wish I took a picture of the food because dang was I disappointed. We were the only people there on MLK DAY FOR LUNCH UNTIL 1 other family walked in.. got our drinks and order placed right away. Side note: the tacos can only be grilled/blackened. Not fried!! Even though they have fried seafood on the menu. We opted to start with a pretzel (said it came with cheese and mustard and we had to ask for the mustard. Also, why was it fried to absolute death? Not sure. Seems like an odd thing to fry. I feel like I've always had them boiled and baked but who am I? Got my bang bang shrimp as an entree (slaw was absolutely inedible as it was far over seasoned. The shrimp was a decent size. Debatable if it was fresh though because it was a bit over cooked as well. My friend had a chicken sandwich that looked decent but she wasn't thrilled about it either. Whenever we needed anything there wasn't a server or bartender in sight. Instead they were all in the kitchen talking loudly and enjoying themselves. It was painful leaving a tip to say the least. I get it though. 99% of the business is vacationers and they don't have to blow it out of the water. Wish we would've just gone to Rita's!

Yelp
I like the service here. I don't think it's the best bar in the world, but I really enjoy grabbing a cocktail and walking the pier on a nice day. During Halloween they have themed drinks but my favorite has to be the orange dreamcicle
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the only true ocean side restaurants in this area, so I stopped in for the super rise and breakfast. It is connected to a pier and it has spectacular views. I wish the food had the same. I will say it was fine. The eggs were ok, the biscuit was so-so, but the worst thing was the (maybe ) chopped parsley covering the entire plate. So unnecessary and you can't pick it off. It adds absolutely nothing to the plate. The orange juice was good! The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Recommend for the views but go with low food expectations and it will be fine!
google avatar

Yelp
Very convenient spot to buy quick cocktails at their outside bar. We got 3 frozen margaritas and one seaside sling to take with us back by our chairs which was nice. Our bartender overheard us talk about getting a floater and offered us Grand Marnier. I don't normally like frozen drinks, but was in the mood for one and these were banging. You could actually taste the alcohol and it wasn't super sugary. The downside to convenience is that it costs more! We paid about $70 after tip for 4 drinks but it was worth it!

Yelp
If you are sunburnt coming off the beach Pier 101 Restaurant and Bar is definitely EASY and QUICK. It's a perfect location with great ambiance. We ordered a few drinks at their outside bar and they were delicious ( a bit expensive but for a beach bar- normal). Our server was sweet. A bit slow but we are servers and understand patience is a virtue. This is a good place to stop after the beach for sure. Although my shrimp po-boy was a bit dry and underwhelming, for a beach restaurant it was yummy. Next time I might just order the sweet potato fries- which were SO YUMMY!

Yelp
Folly Beach is where Pier 101 is located. Whenever I'm at the beach I always park in this area because I love the newly renovated pier, food, and the bar. There's also a gift next shop next door and restrooms. My favorite from the bar are the frozen margaritas! Service is always great!

Yelp
Beach Air, Beach Beer , Fried Food on the boardwalk. The ocean views can't be beat; especially, while feeding my face with fish, fries and brew. The views are unbelievable and the true draw for this location. The menu is good for the intended purpose. Get there and enjoy.

Yelp
Went for breakfast and it was really good, great options. The omelet and breakfast wrap and pancakes were all great!

Yelp
We were seated immediately but no server ever took our order. We were not the only ones that just left and went across the street to Rita's.
google avatar

Yelp
The pier at Folly beach is brand new and beautiful! And the restaurant on the pier, pier 101, is a really good beach day spot! You can order alcohol from their bar and drink anywhere on the pier, which is great. Their drinks were good, and they had fun options like frozen drinks and Sunboy spiked coconut water. We tried a couple apps here - the hush puppies and the fried grouper. My parents loved the grouper, saying the fish was tender and batter was light. I loved the hush puppies, especially the hot honey butter they came with. Great spot for a snack! And plenty of seating!

Yelp
So, we were in town for Easter and decided to kill some time at Pier 101 in Folly while waiting for my daughter to get off work. The weather was awesome, around 73 degrees, and the sky was crystal clear You know what goes perfectly with great weather? A cold Modelo! We started our meal with some fried calamari, which was delicious. Then, I had the flounder with fries, coleslaw, and homemade hush puppies with corn kernels inside. Everything was cooked perfectly and piping hot. The portions were generous, and the customer service was top-notch We sat outside on the pier, and it was just beautiful. Not a single cloud in the sky! We found a parking lot across the street from the pier for $15, which wasn't too bad considering how busy it was We'll definitely be coming back here every time we visit Folly Beach. Love that place!

Yelp
The service was pretty slow for us to be seated, took about 15 minutes for the hostess to get back. We sat at a high top and were not told that you need to order at the bar. Once we were informed by the bartender, the food came out pretty quick. We got a bunch of apps to share with the table. I enjoyed the peel and eat shrimp and bang bang shrimp a lot. The fried pickles were pretty cucumbery. The nachos were a good size serving.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful beach front setting on Folly Beach. Our food was very good. We both got She Crab Soup. A little thinner than I remember but good flavor and lots of crab. We also ordered Bang Bang Shrimp and Sweet and Spicy wings. Got 6 of each and they were delicious. Wings were all dummies which is fine by me but husband likes the flats. The hostess was very friendly. The waitress was prompt in taking our order but once food came out we didn't see her again. In her defense the outside section was very bury and we were inside.
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
A very stereotypical beach bar vibe, with really slow service but nice views and the day we visited, really great live music. Even though the place wasn't super packed, drink service at the beginning was slow as mloassws. Frozen drinks were good but even with the floater you barely taste the alcohol. Food wise: we ordered a little bit of everything and for the price I'd say the portions are quite large. The mini corn dog nuggets and peel and eat shrimp were good. Calamari fries were a pass. Turkey bacon wrap and chicken tenders were great, and I even recommend their pasta salad. Shea crab soup a bit more watery than expected but had a good flavor. All the fried fish items were great. If you have time to kill and don't mind a weak drink, this place has great beach bar food for the price.

Yelp
Pier 101 is there for the ambiance. Food and drinks are on the pricier side because you are oceanfront on the Folly Fishing pier. Location! Location! This is a chill, no frills coastal bar and grill. If you want fried food, a fruity cocktail or beer and an ocean view, this is your places.
google avatar

Brooke H.

Yelp
The food is good and the location is right on the Folly Beach pier, so very convenient when spending a day enjoying the beach. However, service was a bit slow, though very friendly and apologetic. I enjoyed my cocktail and fish tacos.
google avatar

Jon L.

Yelp
This is your outside bar & restaurant option right on the Folly Beach Pier. This is one of the nicest piers I've seen on the Southeastern SC Coast. It was rebuilt out of concrete after a hurricane. James, Molly and I decided to stop in on a Monday for an afternoon beverage. They each had a Pina Colada and I had the Strawberry Margarita. The Severs were great with courteous and professional service all with a smile and a sense of humor. You'll enjoy a great view of the ocean and remember why you're on vacation.
google avatar

Yelp
Visiting from Missouri, brother-in-law brought us here. I had the fish & shrimp basket. The food was outstanding I really liked the sweet tea. It was nice seating outside. Cheyenne was an outstanding server, she was very professional, personable and very attentive.

Yelp
After a lovely beach day for my friend's bachelorette party, we were walking the pier and were looking for a spot for a snack and drink. It turned out to be more like a dinner, but that was fine by us. Luckily we were able to be seated right away, in spite of our very large party. We had a wonderful time eating outside, with the beautiful sights and sounds of the ocean just right there. Everyone got different drinks and an assortment of appetizers and meals. I got to try a lot of them, and each one was pretty enjoyable. We especially liked the shrimp and grits. Overall, nice place with an even nicer view. Give it a try if you're in the area!
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
Full 5...bartenders are awesome. View is awesome. You can order food from the Pier 101 restaurant. If the bar is full, you can order a drink and sit at one of the many tables on the Pier or walk the pier all the way down. If you're a beach lover, this is a must.
google avatar

Yelp
I took my furst trip by myself from California to South Carolina. Folly beach is a nice long beach which is great if you love walking. I walked up an appetite and this restaurant sits right on the pier on the beach. Great views and even though I don't really care for fried food their fish and chips was honestly the best I ever had!
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
Nice location. Service was so-so. Very casual. The food was ok if you're looking for something casual.
google avatar

Yelp
On the beach in Folly South Carolina Great food is being served at Pier 1 Started off with some fried pickles cooked perfectly then I ordered the pasta dish. The flavor was outstanding. It was a bit spicy however I knew that prior to ordering. Then we had shrimp and grits followed by Mexican street corn. And who could resist the key lime pie. Service was a bit slow but it's a busy eatery so don't be in a rush. Our server was polite and knowledgeable about the menu You cannot beat the ambiance, music on the pier and ocean waves and beach made for a wonderful meal. Check 'em out

Yelp
BEST RESTAURANT ON FOLLY BEACH!!! This is such a relaxed place with with great views and a great atmosphere!!

Yelp
Cool place on the pier. Only had a couple drinks but they were good and customer service was great as well. Will be back.

Yelp
We had friends visiting who wanted to get out to the beach but it was a windy, cool day. We decided to head out to Folly and see the new pier. This spot is in the pier, you can park at the county park lot right in front for $10 (it's very small though). We grabbed a drink from their to go bar to walk with along the pier. None of the drinks were super great and you're definitely paying for the vibes of a fruity drink on a pier. I do wish they used agave straws as it's not the best to serve drinks with straws standing over the water. After our walk, we grabbed an outside table - most of them have a great view of the water which was lovely. Our server was attentive. For food, we got the hush puppies, fried pickles and she crab soup. The hush puppies were the only good thing we had - nice dough and well fried. The pickles tasted like they were made in old oil (burnt taste) and the bottom of the bowl they were in was a ton of oil. The she crab soup was just not up to Charleston standards. All in all, great spot to grab a beer and be by the water. Probably wouldn't come back for more than a small bite to eat though.

Yelp
I stopped in here on Monday with my parents and daughter after walking the beach. Sun was out, but so was the wind. Inside seating was full so we sat on the pier. A little chilly, but nothing that couldn't be enjoyed with the right attitude. We ordered the calamari fries / sticks for an appetizer. They were cooked brilliantly and tasted SO good. I could've just eaten these and been happy. I ordered the fish sandwich for my entrée (flounder) and really enjoyed the flavors. It was cooked very well. I also got a small cup of the she crab soup. Everything tasted excellent and I left fully and happy. Service by Julia was attentive and professional.
google avatar

Luan T.

Yelp
Excellent food considering it is the a prime spot. We ordered: Dawn Patrol (mixed drinks) - very very nice Rum Runners (mixed drinks) Grouper bites were excellent Calamari was very good and tender Fish sandwich - amazing, but I would rather have the basket next time. Shrimp basket - well worth the price! Excellent place to be, sit (inside/outside) and enjoy the day.

Yelp
Convenience is their strong point. Otherwise kinda meh Small menu-the expected fried shrimp, salad, burgers. But definitely seemed lacking variety and options. Kids burger is huge portion so that was a plus. Fries were kid approved but can't really go wrong with fries Cole slaw wasn't "southern cole slaw". Not bad, but not good. Hush puppies were good! Service: took drink order, took food order, never came back until we were ready to go. Offered refills then, but we were finished. We went at 5:00 on a Friday, no wait. Not crowded.
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
View 5 Stars * Best place to sit and watch the water Food 3 Stars * Everything tastes good, prices are pretty steep so be prepared for a larger bill. It's your typical small menu beach type food, very casual. The pictures on their instagram are definitely not what you get. The street corn tasted like the frozen corn on the cob, but then they deep fried it. That gets a 2 Star! Fried Shrimp 5 star! and the Shrimp Salad BLT a 3 star! Way to much onion and burned bacon, super watery (although the flavor was good and shrimp cooked perfectly) and the lettuce!?! Ugh. Help. Side note: Hushpuppies and fries were really good Service 4 Stars *Service was speedy, it wasn't very busy. But no drinks were refilled, bummer. We were there for about an hr from start to finish. Hopefully next time l have a better experience. I will be going back to try some other items that caught my eye. *anywhere on folly you pay for parking $2.50 an hr, so bring you bank card or pay by phone. Some parking lots take cash but it's mostly pay via QR codes. *also they slam you with all the extra taxes and fees on the bill.

Yelp
What a nice spot with a view! Family was in from CA and they hadn't a reference for Carolina Beaches, so we spent the early evening playing in the surf and shell hunting. We had previewed the menu for Pier 101 and figured it was perfect for us, especially being a beach spot, and we knew we'd be sandy and a little messy. We ordered a little bit of everything - but the biggest hits were the shrimp corndogs and hushpuppies. When a tourist come to town, you can't go wrong with that. I had the shrimp salad, but I did not care for the spice on the grilled (???not really) shrimp but otherwise it was a beautiful salad. Margaritas were delicious and the guys LOVED the fried pickles. All in all a win for a family touring the area and giving them a 'beach' experience.
google avatar

Marc J.

Yelp
Great lace to grab a quick bite or a leisurely meal in a clean and friendly environment right on Folly Beach. Attached to the newly rebuilt fishing pier and serviced by plenty of parking, the staff will be happy to provide land or sea options while you take in the views. The drinks are stiff but the servers are laidback!
google avatar

Grace B.

Yelp
Service was fast, food was good, and the ambiance was perfect for the beach. Definitely worth a try, won't disappoint. How could it when you're sitting out on the ocean with a nice breeze and good food?
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Went there for the ocean view. She Crab soup was delicious as were our fish tacos. Service was excellent. The Pier itself was awesome with lots of seating to enjoy a gorgeous fall day.

Yelp
Not really a fan of the beach or outside dining. I blame my upbringing. Although it has nothing to do with my review. Just a little tidbit to why I gave this place 3stars and a maybe recommendation. Clearly this place is a part of Folly beach. The views of the piers and the beach as a backdrop are very inviting. Again, it is the beach. So be prepared for pigeons on the table or just casually walking under tables. You can eat inside, but when your host and family love the beach..‍ We ordered appetizers, grouper bites, bbq chicken wings, calamari fries, chicken tacos and chicken nachos. The grouper bites were fried fish nuggets. I thought they were greasy and I could have mentioned to fried them a little longer. The calamari fries were rings cut in half with a nice sauce. Nice concept but not what I was expecting. The chicken wings and nachos and tacos arrived at the same time and were very good. The drinks for the table were a Mai Tai's, rum punch and a cool water lime drink. Not too bad. This place is a rest stop for the beach goer who wants to chill on a chair or sit on the pier than the sand. Or for a bunch of NY tourists seeing this Carolina beach town. It's very laid back and on a beautiful day, it's a nice addition for the non-beach goer like myself. However, this place I didn't see any accessibility to the restaurant. Be prepared for that, there are some steps. Will I come back here, not likely. I will recommend going to check it out.
google avatar

Kimberlee L.

Yelp
Over priced and the food was just so-so. Would NOT recommend the shrimp and grits. You definitely pay a pier "tax" to not have to leave the beach to have food.
google avatar

Lorilyn C.

Yelp
I had the crab dip and got sick ten minutes later. The service was fine. The ambiance was exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant on a beach pier. Just...Don't have the crab dip unless you want to ruin a perfectly nice afternoon.
google avatar

Kyndall M.

Yelp
Great food and drinks every time! Service was great and so was the weather! Have been here 5+ times and never have been disappointed!
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
A lovely restaurant and bar on the pier of Folly Beach! The service was wonderful: we were a group of ~12, and we were seated quickly and taken well care of. I loved the food! The shrimp and grits were out of this world. And we were right on the beach--what else can you ask for? Definitely a wonderful little spot when in Folly Beach!
google avatar

Ryleigh A.

Yelp
What are these random fees tacked on to our bill? Food was mediocre and disappointing. We paid almost an extra 20 dollars in fees on top of our food. Will not be returning and telling others to not waste their time.

Abby B.

Yelp
Food was delish! View was unbeatable. The staff were great other than the hostess and the random wait staff sitting outside on carts and boxes glaring at customers.... Our waitress was lovely however and overall I would recommend!! Not that stereotypical southern hospitality but defiantly great food and a GREAT environment!

Kari W.

Yelp
Food so good I recommend the Mahi mahi. Service so good and she was nice. She was fast to bring the food to me
google avatar

Kalyn M.

Yelp
Well, you really can't beat a restaurant/bar on the water. I would say this is a great place if you are strictly looking for location perks, but the food quality did lack a little bit. We tried the fries which were severely over-seasoned and relatively undercooked. We also tried the street corn which was better. The Folly Vice + a floater was great to enjoy at the bar outside, and you're able to walk up and down the pier with any drinks you purchase which was nice. The bartenders were helpful, but seemed slightly overwhelmed - as expected with the high amount of people requesting food and drinks.

K F.

Yelp
Had family here out of town and they wanted to eat at the beach. Food is average. Service was not good. The ladies that work there had major attitudes for no reason. Sad because it could be really good.

Scott H.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance. Great food. Shrimp Po Boy was delicious. Service was very good. Could've been a little more attentive. Live music played in the background. Could've spent the entire evening there.

Nanci Z.

Yelp
Great view and service! We stopped for a cocktail to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary! Hannah made us a perfect Pier Mule. She was very friendly! we didn't have time to try the food but the ocean view and yummy cocktails were perfect!
google avatar

Caney M.

Yelp
The food here was awesome i had fish tacos wife had turkey wrap The waiter was fabulous The view was great I believe our next vacation will be in Folly Beach an will definitely eat here if we do

Yelp
There was literally no service. People were coming in waiting for ages and not getting seated or served. We didn't even get seated and left because they told us a 30 minute wait and we waited for almost 1.5 hours. Left before we got seated, let alone got food. The ambiance was fine ig. It was not worth it. Will not be coming back.
