America's Best Seafood Markets

"A nearly 50-year-old market that emphasizes sustainable, boat-to-table sourcing through partnerships with a local longline fishermen’s association, supplying island-favored catches such as ahi, hamachi, mahi mahi, and live lobsters. The market is popular for poke kits and sashimi trays (available for advance order), and visitors can easily access adjacent restaurants and sushi purveyors that showcase island-sourced fish and preparations." - Julekha Dash

If you love extremely good sashimi for an unbeatable price, its here. 2nd time visiting with my wife, this time we brought our own rice and enjoyed it all in the car. Love this place! Din’t want to give this place a rating because i’d like to keep it a hidden gem but i wont be coming back to Oahu any time soon. Your tummies wont be disappointed!

Wow what a find!! Super fresh sashimi. The yellowtail was fantastic. We also had amazing Ikura and salmon. Definitely stopping back in before leaving the Island.

Omg! This is the best sashimi on the Island! Price is around $15-$20 a box but it worth every bites! So fresh and melt in your mouth! The place is just open very nice and super cleaned and there are public room next building very convenient

Excellent spot for whatever reason. The fish market is just as fascinating as the restaurant, with excellent service. The most excellent breakfast I've had on the island. My all-time favorite was fish with eggs. Fish is incredibly juicy and delicious. Great fresh cutch for grilling at home is also available in the store.

7/2024 Pretty good buys, especially on lobster. Occassional steal in order to move out product. They do ready poke packs and also ikura. The smoked dip is to die for. My most frequent buy. 😉✌️

This place has great selection of raw fish! Our pick was the salmon sashimi ($9) and ahi sashimi ($15). Their prices are great and the fish are super fresh! The ahi was our favorite.

My wife and I stumble into this place while deciding where and what to eat and I’m so glad we walked in because like we said “the rest is history” the freshest fish you can get at a fair price and the Boss is very friendly, he even let me have a tray of uni for free. I’ll definitely will be going to this place in a regular basis. Don’t take my word for it, go try’um!

Yelp
We tried Pier 38 Fish Market's quality Prime Beef! We cooked Prime Ribeyes on our Mini Green Egg! It's was a fun little date night meal. We cooked to medium... it was amazing!!! So tender and tasty! (I kinda spiced it up!). We found our place to buy quality beef when we are grilling at home!!! We have a large Green Egg as well, we've ordered their Father's Day box (which looks awesome!) that has a Tomahawk Steak and Filet Mignon AND Lobsters Tails AND gift certificate for the fish market!!! Can't wait !!

Yelp
Great spot for seafood with good drinks. They have lots of seating to include outdoors and at the bar area. We've sat at the bar both visits and their service was timely and friendly!

Yelp
The fish auction on Saturdays from 6-7 am is very cool even to witness. It's $30 to attend. Dress warmly because it's 45 degrees inside.

Yelp
I was looking to buy some sashimi and a friend suggested Pier 38 Fish Market for the price and freshness. He said they also had great poke options where you mix your own. I checked out the website and saw they had several sashimi platter options. I ordered two mixed platters of ahi, salmon and hamachi and one just ahi. Options were to pay upon pick up. I set my date and time when I'd pick it up. The day before thanksgiving I picked up my platters. I was surprised with the store. Not really huge but a lot of options within. I loved that they also had inamona (Kukui Nut) available. I haven't seen that since the old fish market across Ward Warehouse was still around. I picked up a container of that so I could keep it available at home when I buy my poke because there's never enough or even inamona inside! I made my own giant platter with the platters I bought from Pier 38 and it definitely was a hit at the family thanksgiving dinner. The fish was very fresh and tasty. Will definitely keep Pier 38 as my go to place for sashimi in the future as well as other seafood items like lobster and hamachi collar.

Yelp
I went here looking for poke or sashimi, and ended up with some hamachi. The prices are good, fish is fresh, and the staff are super nice and personable! It's just a few fridges, but it's clean and doesn't smell like a fish market at all.

Yelp
There are fresh fish markets all over Honolulu but this is my new favorite. First off Chris greets you like your a long time customer and is very knowledgeable. Most fish Mkts have an unpleasant aroma and are a mess (no names). This is the first time ever that everything was immaculate. Great selection of specialty items like fresh uni. Speaking of fresh there is no fresher or higher quality fresh fish anywhere for retail customers. Shockingly fresh. Can't wait to return. Ok parking.

Yelp
We had an awesome brunch here. We made reservations online with no problem. Our waitress was very attentive and the food we ordered was excellent. I will be definitely returning soon.

Yelp
Had lunch today at Nami Kaze right next door to Pier 38 Fish Market . Seen this fish market on television so since I was in the area I was curious to see what they have. To my surprise very fresh fish also prices are very reasonable. They mentioned in the segment on TV that it's very fresh straight from the fishing boats right to their Market . What caught my eye was their crab flakes in a can . I seen it before in some supermarkets but not nowadays. They sell it here only for $16.95 Wow ! That's very cheap normally it would cost about $22.95 at Times. They also carry ready to make poke just need to add the shoyu. Very clean nice selection and friendly staff. When I was leaving someone came in to pick up his pre -order case of king crab legs . I'm curious what they sell it for . Normally during Holidays Costco have the best prices . Maybe I'll be coming here for my future crab legs ha ha . Support local

Yelp
What a fun find! Pier 38 fish market is located in the same complex as Nicos, but they are more towards the back where Namikaze is. There's lots of free parking and open quite late too! I actually attempted to come here twice. It was closed the first time (Monday) when i tried to pay a visit since i was in the area. I finally made it back on another day during their normal operating hours. Its a small location with a tank of crustaceans and a huge fridge with lots of items on display. It was mostly Ahi when i was there, but they also had canned crab too. I was shocked to see that the prices were pretty decent here. The tray i bought was about $17-18 and it was a good amount of otoro in there. I ate the sashimi for a bit and got so bored of eating it that i ended up making negitoro with the remaining slices. It was probably cheaper for me to get the unsliced one in reality. Service was also friendly, but i was also the only one in the shop at the time.

Yelp
P38FM main entrance is located next to Namikaze. Parking lot is located on the canal side of the Fresh Island Fish building, and there is a dirt lot between Namikaze and Nico's Pier 38 Restaurant. Also, a large parking lot fronting Nimitz Hwy. (Note: Don't park along POP Fishing & Marine building or in their parking lot, as you might get towed. Signs clearly state who the parking stalls are deemed for. Not a fun thing getting your car out of the pound.) No restrooms. No seating. Grab 'n Go only Wide variety of take-home & cook fish fillet. The salmon looked really good. Market priced.

Yelp
Small space with excellent seafood and good prices. Nico's fish market across the parking lot has better poke prices, but their ikura prices are the lowest I've seen. They also carry sea asparagus which is often hard to find.
google avatar

Yelp
Great fish and reasonably priced. Good selection of blocks of fish and sliced sashimi.

Yelp
After having lunch at Nami Kazi, my brother-in-law Craig T asked if I wanted to check out the new fish market. The market had a wide display of freshly packaged seafood products. I decided to buy a container of Ikura. This is one of my wife's seafood favorites. Just had some. It was fresh and delicious. If you want fresh off the boat seafood this is the place. Enjoy

Yelp
The quality has really gone down hill. Let me preface that in the past, we would order ahi on their website and always had nice pieces. Yesterday, we ordered the "3 lb Chunk Sashimi Grade" , went to pick it up (the ahi was wrapped up), went home and had this. Picture 1 is what the ahi looked like wrapped up and Picture 2 is what the ahi looked like unwrapped. Obviously not sashimi quality, the ahi looks like it was cut with a bad knife.

Yelp
I want to check out this place on a Tuesday, the shelf is not that full, they have fish filet, and other saccording to the sales, they have more merchandise during the weekend. I pick so Ahi and tobiko and make my poke , the ingredient is pretty fresh. I will for sure going back to check them out on the weekend.

Gena Z.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to check this place out. What a waste of time and $!! We bought a tray of BLUEFIN SASHIMI. it looked so good! Let me tell you, it's horrible! Chewy as heck! It's the worst sashimi we have ever had! I don't recommend buying fish from this establishment! You will be wasting your hard earned money! Really wish I could get a refund!

Yelp
Love how fresh their fish is. the poke kits are my favorite. I never eat poke anywhere else now that I've gotten a taste of fresh fish.

Yelp
Bought a tray of half a dozen oysters all of them were dead... I was wondering why the shells had a plastic strap over them, every single oyster was opened after I removed the plastic strap. They might serve fresh fish but the oysters I bought were trash. How can you leave a tray of dead oysters for someone to buy, it was 11$ for the tray. The cashier gave me 10% off and now I know why....

Stephen C.

Yelp
The fish was good. I bought two 4 lb slabs of salmon and ask them to put them in separate bags as I was going to give one away. When they came out they were both in one bag and the salesperson was afraid to ask the person in the back to rebag them into separate bags. I had to take it home and do it myself.

Yelp
Everything on display looks fresh and prices are extremely reasonable. Only reason I won't be going back after my purchase today is the customer service. The two ladies clearly did not want to be there today and it showed. No greeting, no acknowledgment and definitely no aloha. Just a look of pure annoyance and misery. Not worth it to experience bad vibes.....

Yelp
Fresh fish you say? Right off the pier? Only place to go Pier 38 Fish Market. Price$? Straight from the source. It'll surely end up being your go to place as well.

Jeffrey D.

Yelp
Finally made it out there. You want fresh right from the auction? Prices, cleanliness, customer service #10 Mahalo

Yelp
I don't usually write reviews and I probably shouldn't review this business for my own selfish purposes. But I will because everyone will find out about them anyway. They had a great set up during the pandemic lockdown when they provided fresh fish to the local community when the restaurants were closed. Now they have a retail location and if anyone reads my review I'm gonna regret it cuz they probably won't have anything left when I get there. Fresh fish, great price, nice people. Hope I get there before you :-)
