Tatte’s Dominance Continues With Planned Expansion to Seaport | Eater Boston

"Located on the waterfront in the Seaport District, Pier 4 is a mixed-use development whose ground floor will house Tatte’s new bakery; construction on the Pier 4 project could conclude in late 2018. The building is being positioned as a culinary destination—Or called Pier 4 “a slice of green heaven on the water” and said its unbeatable location was a natural fit—and it will also include a yet-to-be-named farm-to-table restaurant from Woods Hill Table’s Kristin Canty." - Dana Hatic

We had a second floor balcony room that was pleasantly decorated and was in very good condition, unlike some beach hotels. The view was good, the beds were comfortable and the pool looked nice, though we didn’t use it. I didn’t like the towels, which were thin and scratchy. The breakfast is pretty basic. There are good restaurants in the area. We’ve stayed here a few times, always in balcony rooms, and will be back.

I didn't have the privilege of being a guest at the hotel but you must try the restaurant! It was excellent in every way that it could be so! The service was great, the food exquisite and the ambiance was to " live" for!! I was there with friends and like others" I'll be back"! Do yourself" a flavor " and partake! It was well worth the trip and time! GET YOUR TASTE BUDS READY AND YOU'LL BE SO GLAD YOU DID!!!!!

We booked a room block for our wedding weekend and Dawn went above and beyond starting from when I asked for the block months before. She was in constant contact, always checked in and made me feel stress free the entire process! Our weekend at the Pier 4 was amazing from start to finish surrounded by friends and family at the pool with the amazing view. The rooms were kept extremely clean and the staff was very responsive if something was needed. I highly recommend the Pier 4!

I'm going to start my review by letting you know I wasn't an overnight room guest - I was there for a small event. I really liked the location of the hotel and when you walk in it's nautical, cozy and just smells like a beach vacation! I'd planned to talk to my family about vacationing here next summer - Until I dealt with the lady at the front desk. She was so curt and unpleasant that I completely wrote this place off. (You're in hospitality, if you can't be nice you shouldn't be at the front of the hotel.) She was rude and sarcastic to other members in our group. She was way over the top passive aggressive - she wouldn't even make eye contact when people walked into the lobby just looked down at the floor and snapped out her questions. Based on my interactions with her and overhearing the interactions of her with not only our group, but people paying $120+/night to stay there - I'd never stay nor recommend someone staying.

Dawn was extraordinary in making our wedding block amazing. She took time to make sure every guest had a room, even if they were on a wait list. She hand delivered our welcome bags to each room and made sure each guest knew about their transportation options. She was a joy to work with, so kind, and made our end of things so stress free. Rooms were clean and neat!

Stayed here while visiting family in Somers Point Well maintained facility with ample on site parking. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Comfortable, clean room with refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and step in shower. We had a Bayside room which overlooked the pool and offered a stunning view of the bay. Located at the west end of the causeway with easy access to Ocean City.

Google
This place is clean, the staff is friendly, the location on the bay is perfectly fine, very easy to get to the 9th street bridge into OC. 2 stars because the mattress was the hardest, lumpiest, most uncomfortable mattress I have ever tried to sleep on. It was like a medieval torture device. I woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating back pain and spent the rest of the night sleeping in the chair in our room. The floor was actually softer than the bed. Don't know why anyone would pick this for all of their beds. It wasn't firm it was concrete. Otherwise this place gets 5 stars from me.

Spent 4th of July weekend. Place booked and filled with happy people. So impressed with the beautiful location, the spotless, well maintained rooms, and the absolute best service possible. Everyone anticipated your needs and responded to you before you even asked for help or a question. We had the best time and will be back again. Thank you to the entire staff.

Yelp
My family was looking to stay at a place near my Aunt and Uncle's shore house and found this hotel. They decided to stay here since one of our cousin's has come here and said it was his go-to place. The motel is relatively clean, I'll give them that. There's what it ends... First of all, we arrived 15 minutes after check-in was supposed to start. My Mom and I had to drive around the parking lot FIVE TIMES at least before we found a spot (second to LAST SPOT in the back of the parking lot). This is due to all the people going to the restaurant next door (The Crab Trap) and using the hotel's parking......... When we arrive, the woman checking in asked for our license plate number, and when my Mom said she wasn't sure, she pretty much demanded that "by tonight", my Mom needed to take a picture of the license plate to show her (we never ended up doing that...). Since we had a lot of bags, I used a luggage cart that they had in the lobby to bring our bags upstairs. The cart was super hard to navigate and the wheels would barely move. It kept crashing into walls and not moving. There is only one elevator in the entire motel, and it runs slow as molasses. (And the elevator is SMALL), it fits 3-4 people comfortably MAX. Any more than that is super super confining and claustrophobic. When we got into our hotel room, the room seemed clean. The remote is covered in plastic (that we were NOT to remove according to the directions). There was also a sign in the bathroom talking about how all everyone raves about their "spa towels" and how they're able to be purchased for a set price. The towels felt SUPER rough... In addition, if any items were missing, they listed an itemized price list of how much you would pay for each item. Once we got in the room, I left the luggage cart outside our room (figuring that hotel staff would grab it and bring it down). Five minutes after we got in our room, we received a phone call on the hotel phone. I answer and the Front Desk asks if I took a cart. When I said yes and that I left it outside the room, she says "Can you bring it down for the other guests to use since there's only three?" Is it normal for hotel guests to have to bring the cart back down??? I almost wanted to ask what their hourly rate was so that they could pay me... Our hotel room also had a door which appears to be a conjoined room. However, we were nervous since the door didn't 100% close within the door frame (or at least didn't look like it), so we were scared someone from next door could come in if they really wanted to. We slept fine in the room (the bed and the pillows were comfortable enough. In the morning, when we were checking out, we went in the elevator and there was a used condom in the corner......... We notified the front desk and they were appalled that they had never seen that in their 26 years of working as a staff member. Also, the cleaning supplies that the maids were using were very very strong and have a sickening powdery chemical smell. It ended up choking my Nana, and she is used to cleaning with bleach which is strong.. All in all, the motel served its purpose (we were only here two nights), but I wouldn't want to come back...

Yelp
Initially my husband and I found the hostile signage around the hotel to be funny. The vibe of the place is opposite of hospitality. An hour after checking out I got a voicemail stating pillows and covers were missing and we were being charged an additional $90. First of all, hotel pillows are disgusting. Pillows used by the public harbor lots of bacteria and it's always advised to use your own. I have neck arthritis and my husband and I brought our nice tempurpedic pillows. I have never stolen in my life and never will steal. My husband and I drove back to the hotel after we were finished lunch and offered to have the front desk staff search our car because we didn't steal anything. Then the house keeping staff apologized and said she found the pillows and covers. Our $90 would not be refunded until we call and speak to the manager. The 90$ doesn't even match the posted threats in the bathroom which was $70 total... This place is so fraudulent and dishonest. I wonder how many other innocent people have been accused of stealing who haven't. Thankfully we were still in town so we could go back in person. The lady at the front desk Toni was incredibly rude. She eventually said sorry but it was not genuine at all! We were overcharged for our room. We were charged a bay view price $284 a night but stayed at a "city view" room $254. The air conditioner above us was dripping on our balcony. Overall the charge for 2 nights was $651.08 with taxes and fees. We were overcharged by 60$. I have a screen shot from their website of rates. False advertising.... Definitely staying somewhere else when we visit ocean city again! The NJ department of consumer affairs should investigate this place. The culture of the place appears to be shady- definitely need hospitality training! Please be careful! Go somewhere else! The people who work here are so rude and hostile! I left there crying. Don't go here!

Yelp
The building is relatively updated and we liked that each room has a private patio. Sadly, the beds and pillows and blankets were TERRIBLE! Felt like the pillows were stuffed with wood chips and a bag of air. The bedding also smelled like straight bleach. I hope they can take this feedback and update the most important part of a hotel, the bed!

Yelp
Horrible experience .. we drove for many hours and we where tired . Try getting a room and they told us they only had one room left and we took it .. price was moderate . We took the room . Once we got to the place . They have a room to our family member that called after us and they gave them our room and we got a different room .( totally different room from the one they told us on the phone ) so my friend got a room after they told us they only had one ... no problem thats fine we was tired and all we wanted was to sleep ..... but what got me angry was that once we open our room door we found the worse thing ever ... disgusting !!! ... Im not sure if they have it to us to mess with us or what was their deal ... but after they have us another room .. now when we talk on the phone again they said we got the last room .. but yet they had another empty one and the one they gave my friends who they called after us . And just the fact that the receptionist was told to us after we told her that we didn't order a small room we order a big room . And she told me " well you guys can gladly leave " this got me more mad but we was driving over 16 hours to get to rest and on top of that I had 6 more hours to drive home . All I wanted was to sleep and not argue .. The picture bellow show how we open our room for the first time and what we found .

Yelp
Stayed at Pier 4 yesterday for the first time, rooms very nice, beautiful hotel, staff all professional and friendly, will definitely be back soon, Dawn was so personable and friendly.

Yelp
Hotel staff was very nice, room smelled and looked fairly clean. Breakfast was COVID continental everything was prepackaged and available for grab and go. Pool is nice 5ft feels with lifeguard on duty, bottom of the pool does appear sandy, but it's just the lining that's dirty. Great bay view looking into the Ocean Side. Pillows are extremely soft and the bed is a very firm mattress. The bathroom vent was very dirty and one bathroom tile was showering moves and looks like it does not fit in the space( kind of creepy).

Yelp
Despite the negative reviews I decided to book a night here because the location was perfect for the event I was attending. What a happy surprise! The hotel is clean and comfortable. I had a king room with a "city" (ok, parking lot) view, with a balcony. Bed was comfy with lots of pillows. Bathroom is spotless with nice amenities, like a mini tube of hand lotion. It's not a fancy place but for an overnight in a sleepy shore town off season, it was all I hoped for and maybe even a little more.

Tristan C.

Yelp
This is the best hotel on earth. I love how close it is to the bay. I love pier 4. This is the best hotel to stay if you are visiting ocean city.

Lindsey F.

Yelp
Let me preface this with I have never left a review on a hotel before but we had the worst experience and warn anyone who thinks about staying at Pier 4. They have the rudest staff who when you call gives you misinformation then berates you about it (more than once) and are confrontational. That's just the front desk. The room was dirty and disgusting with dirt and cobwebs everywhere, dirt under all the furniture and old clothing and toys that was left under the sofas because obviously it's never cleaned. The pull out bed isn't even a bed with 5 springs missing from it and the sheets were obviously not cleaned on it as there was hair all over the bed. Pay the extra money and stay at Port of Call.

Kevin C.

Yelp
This hotel would be great were it not for the beds, they were very hard and uncomfortable and the pillows werent great either. Also the toilet was strangely placed in the bathroom basically touching the shower door making it a little akward. The staff was very pleasant and the price was great compared to other places in the area. Every room has a balcony which is nice and if you are on the back side you get a nice view of the bay. The free breakfast was also pretty good with a variety of basic foods, bagels, muffins, donuts, cereal etc, no hot breakfast foods though.

Yelp
I called to make a reservation for a weekend in July. The lady who answered was short with me when I joked about possibly pushing the wrong number in the menu to make a reservation. Later in the call, her voice got very low. I commented that I could not hear her. She said, "I'm on landline. If you're on a cell, it's not me." At that point I ended the call.

Yelp
I just have to say that I've never written a complaint about a hotel and a I travel often. My wife and I stayed here for a wedding and the Front Desk people were the rudest I've ever come across in the hospitality industry. The tried to charge us a bogus $200 fee for smoking, based on a guess that they were "told" that the person smoking might have entered my room and therefore I was responsible. They argued with me in the lobby while 15 people were waiting to check out. To make things worse, I called and left a message for the owner to call and HE didn't have the courtesy to return my call. I gave him the benefit of the doubt before I complained, now I post this review everywhere possible on every travel site!

Yelp
Very good, EXTREMELY clean and welcoming hotel. Pretty view on the water, restaurant near by and a good hotel for a nice calm vacation.

Yelp
Came here for a friends wedding.. After a long trip rest assured we were weary. I had a request that most places would scoff at but the girl working the desk was willing to help and just had such a helpful attitude. As for the room; it is spacious, cozy, charming, and clean. Also free wifi.

Yelp
Sooo accommodating! Sooo sweet!!! Sooo amazing!!! We travel a lot and always rent a house in oc this year we had only a few days. This hotel was perfect in every way!! My son checked in last minute to the bug infested econolodge abs right back out..pier 4 found room for him. We are forever grateful!! 4 stars indeed!!!

Geriann G.

Yelp
Three stars for location. Staff was cold. Except on check out. She was lovely. Rooms were updated. Beds are terrible.... three nights and I can't move. Sheets/towels are below average too. Weird set up for the "balcony". You cannot close the door from the outside. I guess to deter smoking??? But on a beautiful night, you can't sit outside without bugs flying into you room because of the outside lights.... You can walk to amazing restaurants. Location was the highlight. For the money, consider a hotel with better bedding. It was beyond bad and cheap...

Carly R.

Yelp
I must admit that after reading some of the yelp reviews I wasn't sure what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised. We were there for a wedding and the entire hotel staff was nice and accommodating. The room was clean and the view ( bay side ) was terrific. The decor is a little dated and the public areas a little dingy but I would definitely go back!

Robert S.

Yelp
The customer service is fantastic. I had booked through a third party, and my back office double booked me. Dawn worked tirelessly to with the third party to fix the overlap and got my money refunded. I was in and out of the hotel on business over the course of days, and she called on several occasions to let me know when packages had arrived and to keep me updated on the room overlap situation. Additionally I had left a power strip in one of the rooms, and Jackie and Toni continued to check to see if it could be found. We never found it, but these ladies were so helpful and friendly. If you're in the area, and need a place-check it out!

Yelp
Horrible customer service! Booked a room and checked out within an hour. All of the rooms were non smoking but the room I chose had a balcony so I assumed I could smoke on that since it is outside. We got up to our room and there was a sign that said that smoking was not allowed on the balcony either. I did a lot of research before booking the room and the website that I used did not list it as a smoke free hotel. If it was listed at that I would never have booked it. I spoke to Heather at the front desk to see if anything could be done about getting part of the room charge back and she seemed like she would help. She told me she texted the manager about my situation and gave me the managers card and told me to contact her on Monday. I sent Dawn an email on Monday and explained the situation. She got back to me and told me there was nothing that she could do. I wasn't asking for the full amount back. I was just looking for something because to be honest we were both at fault. I replied back to her email and showed her how the hotel was not listed properly. She didn't respond. I went on the same website I used to book it because I wanted to leave a review about my experience the next day and magically the information was there. So instead of helping a customer or just admitting that their hotel wasn't listed properly she went and changed it and didn't respond. It's not the last she will hear from me and this is not the last review I will write about my horrible experience. Dawn is not a nice person and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE.

Yelp
My niece and I have been coming here for a girlfriend weekend for the past three summers now. Recently I had to stay because of surgery my mother was having. Dawn Evangel, the front desk office manager was so kind and considerate of my needs; giving me a 10 percent discount card for a nearby restaurant, phone numbers I needed, and even a recipe for an asparagus concoction designed to kill cancer cells. The hotel is undergoing considerable renovations, and I can't wait to get back in a month with my nice to just enjoy the space. PS. They even thought to put a nightlight in the bathroom and extra outlets in lamps and all around the room. Continental breakfast was really good too!.

Liz H.

Yelp
I grew up in Somers Point and this was my first time staying in Pier 4. The room was OK - nothing special, the bathroom looked tired. A lot of noise at night coming from the outdoor bar/waiting area of the seafood restaurant next door. What really upset me the most was the $250.00 "Internet Charge" on my bill. Evidently I was charged this because I used Booking.com. I was never told this ahead of time or saw this in any of the paperwork I received. The desk clerk was very snooty about it. i think I will bypass this place the next time I stay.

Yelp
A good hotel, clean, no issues. Try the seafood restaurant within walking distance at the adjacent property.

Yelp
room #404...balcony bay view...serene water , boats, pool during the day...tiki hut , bridge to ocean city, colorful lights at night...one word...SPECTACULAR !

Yelp
This review is not based on the hotel accommodations per se, but rather on a customer service experience which, as a first impression did NOTHING to make me think this hotel was worthy of my business. My family and I had dinner at the Crab Trap next door last night (12/23/13) and afterwards my father wanted to stop at the hotel - he's from out of state - to get pricing on rooms. The young woman working the front desk sometime between 8 & 10pm - she was also working the switchboard - was helpful, only reluctantly...she treated his inquiry as more an intrusion instead of an opportunity for the hotel to have another customer. He had to ask her more than once for rates for the rooms. She was reluctant to provide rates since they would be changing in the new year. This is understandable but one can anticipate a general increase to what rates might be only if one knows what the current rates are. She finally provided the information but not without a less-than-customer-friendly attitude. If she represents the welcome one can expect from Pier 4 then you can keep it and my family and I will gladly take our business elsewhere.

Erin S.

Yelp
We've been coming here for about 10 years. But it's been obvious that it's been on the decline over the years. This last visit this past summer was the turning point of us never going back. I called to make a rez and asked for a higher floor. When we arrived we were told that wasn't possible and were put on the 1rst floor. I understood, but at the same time we called early to ask for the floor but were told they don't give preferences but then got there before check in and all top floor rooms were taken...doesn't make sense. No problem, moving on. Then we walked into our first floor room and someone was in it. Ok. Move to our next first floor room. Got a call they wanted to help us move to a higher floor but then when I went to the front desk to confirm the UNBELIEVABLY RUDE desk attendant acted like they had no idea what I was taking about. From this point on this specific woman made our weekend a complete nightmare. She was rude, dismissive, antagonizing and threatening to us the rest of the weekend. She literally said to us that we better never ask for a specific floor again. There's a lot more to this story but the point is she lied, was rude and made us feel like trash. Our 1 weekend away for the year was ruined. WE WILL NEVER RETURN. Honestly, your front desk person is one of the rudest I've ever met and I've traveled the world.

Becki M.

Yelp
We stayed here before and it was a pleasant experience but this year we were highly disappointed. There were adults sitting in the baby pool smoking cigarettes and we had ask someone to say something to them. Secondly, we were told to park across the street with two infants and walk to the hotel with our luggage because they can't enforce parking and everyone parks there to go to the Crab Trap. We requested new towels and after over an hour we left for dinner and came back to find the clean towels sitting on the disgusting floor in front of our door in the hallway. Finally, our room smelled musty and my 6 month old ended up with a terrible cough after 2 nights there. The women at the front desk were extremely rude and not helpful at all. We won't be back which is a shame because it used to be a lovely place.

Jackie V.

Yelp
My family and I have really enjoyed coming here over the past 3 years. It's very clean. No smoking is what I really enjoy. Although the past 2 times I've stayed, my neighbors would smoke on the balcony and we could smell the smoke come through our ac vent. The pool and Crabby Jack's right on the bay is so enjoyable. The walls are rather thin so you can hear your neighbors. I am one who sleeps in complete silence so it may not bother others as it does me. The receptionist is very nice. People seem to have been coming here for years and the staff recognizes you from previous stays. All in all the continental breakfast is nice; waffles, fresh fruit, donuts, bagels, juice, coffee, tea in a nice room with televisions.
