Celebrate International Chardonnay Day at These Boston-Area Spots | Eater

"Overlooking Mt. Hope Bay to the west, Pier 52 is the rare East Coast restaurant where you can watch the sunset over the water. This pro move is best executed from one of the white Adirondack chairs on the green turf outside with a glass of Harken Chardonnay in hand. Add a platter from the raw bar and a plate of crab nachos for good measure." - Molly McDonough

Pier 52 in Fall River was an absolute treat! I visited for lunch with my two nieces and we were all so impressed — it’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger and savor every bite. The seafood was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared — from the perfectly cooked fish to the flavorful sides, everything tasted like it came straight from the ocean. The drinks were another highlight: refreshing, well crafted, and just the right complement to our meal. Whether you’re in the mood for a crisp cocktail or something more playful, the bar does not disappoint. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, with a beautiful setting that made our lunch feel like a special occasion. Pier 52 is a gem on the water — five stars all the way!

We hosted a surprise proposal brunch for my sister-in-law at Pier 52, and it couldn’t have been more perfect! From the very beginning, Tiffany was incredible, so organized, responsive, and thoughtful in helping us put the entire event together seamlessly. We had a party of 38 guests, and even though the space is cozy, the team handled everything like pros. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was just right for a special moment like this. A special shoutout to Olivia, who went above and beyond making sure all our guests were taken care of , she kept the drinks flowing and brought such a great energy to the celebration. For a smaller venue, the staff truly delivered a top-tier experience. Everything ran smoothly, and the day was unforgettable. Highly recommend Pier 52 for any special event , especially if you want something intimate, fun, and flawlessly executed!

Wife and I went Wednesday 7-23-25 for dinner. Great place right on the water. Service not fast but not slow, food was excellent, wife has sushi special all sushi $10. I had bourbon steak tips very good. We would both order our dinners again. Mixed drinks weak, changed to wine. Would go back again Only con, someone side swiped our black Audi.

A random Father’s Day find and boy was it amazing. Everything was FRESH! The seating is literally right on the water. There is a rope that separates you and the rocks water. Even the simple things were delicious and fresh. The calamari and focaccia bread apps started the meal off right followed by the amazing entrees. There were no leftovers after this meal!! The chicken was even freshly cut, seasoned and breaded. This gem is worth every penny and repeat trip!!

I have to give them a 1 star since we stopped by at 1:30PM on Wed for lunch with my son. Sat 10 minutes while we watched people get sat, waters brought and drinks ordered. We were hungry and I asked if my son wanted to stay….he said we would give them a little longer which we did. After multiple staff members walked by our table, which was right in the middle of everything, we decided they didn’t deserve our business and walked over to Tipsy Seagull. Within 60 seconds, water were brought to us. Better service and great atmosphere!!

Google
The good news is the atmosphere and the service were both phenomenal. Can’t beat the view, live music and attentive wait staff. The food however was simply sub par. We started with the crab nachos and I barely tasted nor saw any crab. The clam appetizer was fairly good. We waited a long time for our dinner to arrive which was fine because we were enjoying the atmosphere but when it finally came my swordfish skewers were literally cold. Not just a little cold on the outside but no warmer within either. They did take it off the bill. The baked stuffed lobster was the worst I’ve ever had. It was way over cooked and all the meat was still in the shell. They simply split the body and added some ritz cracker stuffing. The shell was so hard we barely could crack it. The stuffing has no crab nor lobster in it. Had to even work the meat out of the tail. I am so sorry to report this food critic but with such a wonderful setting and good service it is an injustice to not have a kitchen staff that can deliver quality food. I’ll go back for drinks only next time or until I hear they have paid up to get an experienced chef on board.

Google
I ordered the steak and eggs. Steak cooked medium it came out well done, eggs over medium the yolks were fully cooked, the waitress never came back to ask how the food was so I did get a chance to send it back I couldn't even chew it it was so tough not to mention my appetizer came out 5 minutes before the main course.i was really looking forward to a great meal for the price. Entertainment was 10 out of 10

I and my friend stopped by at this place on our way back home after a nice beach visit. This place has beautiful water views and pleasant atmosphere. They also have live music on the evening we visited. The food was good, being a vegetarian I hadn’t found much options but it was okay for me. I had apricot salad, udon spicy noodles which I felt okay. Even though I felt the portions are small (for the given prices) I convinced myself putting altogether it’s sufficient. My friend had lobster bisque and grilled swordfish which she found to be okay, she mentioned the fish was a bit dry. Anyway, overall, we enjoyed our visit. We both shared Cooke sundae which was delicious! The one thing we both got surprised about and didn’t like was they charged $2.00 for the salt on the rim of margarita drink! Guys, seriously! We never seen anyone doing that! Perhaps, if we ever visit them we have to say margarita with no salt (like drinks with no ice or less ice).

Yelp
Pier 52 is pretty amazing!! The vibe, service, drinks & food are spot on! Live acoustic music always a bonus!

Yelp
Was looking for a spot before heading to Narrows Center for a show and this place came up - it was close by and had a decent menu to choose from - easy reservations via the website and plenty of lot parking. I can see people wanting to come here for outdoor dining since it's right by the water. The restaurant itself is inside a large tent with tables inside, outside and a decent size bar (bathrooms are outside before you enter). Because it's inside a large tent, noise suppression is nonexistent, so it can get quite loud. This is my take - it wants to exude a Newport Beach Club but it didn't quite hit the mark. The food was just ok, nothing special about it. Sushi was subpar - (menu said spicy kewpie mayo but it tasted like plain ole mayo), my salmon dish was just meh - salmon was a bit under seasoned and the mister didn't care much for his fish tacos at all but like a trooper, he finishes his meal anyway. The best part of our meal was the dessert - it was a limoncello cake of some sort and our waitress was very sweet and attentive. We found it strange that our sushi and entrees all came out at the same time - which was fine but just strange as we thought the sushi would've been treated as an appetizer. Also, we were told that they only take credit card for the bill but that the tip can be made with card or cash - whatever works, I suppose. Probably won't be returning as there are several other options in the area.

Yelp
Wow! Just received our receipt from our visit on July4th, since when is Bud light $8 and Corona $9 in Fall River?? Yes the atmosphere, service and food are amazing but liquor is way overpriced. Maybe they should provide the prices on their menu to give customers that choice?! Our visit on 6/28 Bud Light was $7. Price gouging? Yep!

Yelp
I adore this place. The servers here are always wonderful. The fish tacos are to die for. I love the Tuesday night marg flight deals. And the views are wonderful! Every time I've been there has been live music too! The location is easy to get to and there is enough parking as well!

Yelp
Food, drinks and service were great, beautiful sunset, loved it. A couple of draft beers and one bottled were not available though, my husband's first choices, and the meal he picked first wasn't either. But we will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in for a cocktail after dinner at the Tipsy Toboggan. Adirondacks face the water and the sunset on the turf. Bartenders were great, view is really as good as it gets around here. I love that it's an open outdoor restaurant. Going back for dinner this week. Hopefully the food is just as good!

Yelp
I saw on Facebook that Pier 52 recently held a fundraiser for the Democratic Governor of Massachusetts Maura Healy and wanted to try it out/give my support as I am a fan of our Governor! However when I visited the food was undercooked/lukewarm & I was disappointed. Will try again soon!

Yelp
The server, Jordan, was just awesome, very attentive and friendly. The food was good, and the ambiance is relaxing yet very upbeat. We came for Sunday brunch where they have a live dj, which is pretty entertaining, but probably not hangover friendly haha

Yelp
Really nice spot on the water in Fall River, the view is perfect. We were sat right away in the Adirondack chairs, got the oysters they were buck a shuck, they were not shucked the best though, but were fresh, hence the 4 stars. The octopus was perfect tender and flavorful, the Burrata was delicious, it was served with a variety of beets and really complemented the dish, there was live music, which I think they have every night. Service was quick and attentive. Will definitely go back!!

Yelp
Another delicious brunch with great entertainment and a spectacular view. Service is perfect. Not sure why we could not get a reservation. Showed up at 10 had to sit at the bar. Place was 80 percent empty when we left. But you could not make a reservation ‍$$$

Yelp
Had quite an unpleasant experience at Pier 52. Tried to enjoy a nice meal with my wife. Meanwhile, as I bite into my food, I hear yelling and cuss words. I turn and see the owner of the restaurant yelling and drunkingly walking off the property. How classy. How professional. I will never spend another dime at some place ran by such an imbecile.
google avatar

Yelp
a friend and I stopped by for drinks and a snack, and we were really happy with the ambiance, the drinks, service, and food. My bourbon Manhattans were terrific. We split the octopus app and spicy salmon sushi. Loved them!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a friends birthday! Tried to mussels, the calamari, the tuna roll, salmon burger, cucumber lemon drink (and pear drink).. and then the ice cream cookie dessert. Wow!! Just wow!! Lighting was incredible and was there for the sunset!! Place was popping with activity and service was highly attentive!

Yelp
Good food, good drinks , service, entertainment. Great outdoor option for enjoying being outside with a view of the water .

Yelp
Ambiance awesome! Good delicious! Service was excellent for our large party of 13. Went for Anniversary brunch. Only thing needing improvement is the coffee which is important for a brunch spot. Went on a Sunday when they had a violin duo! They were HOT!

Yelp
Excellent service, the food was phenomenal. The steak tips were very tender. There really isn't a bad seat in the restaurant.

Yelp
Location is the prize with this restaurant. Absolutely gorgeous. Sits right on the water with plenty of outdoor seating. The food was good, but not great. We started off with Crab Rangoon nachos that had little to no crab on it. Out of 5 entrées 4 people complained about some thing. My sandwich, however was really good. The service was definitely lackluster. Staff was not too friendly, and we were overcharged for drinks that we did not order. They ended up taking care of it. Parking was good as well. I would definitely go back and give it a second chance, if not for the ambience alone

Yelp
I absolutely LOVED this place! First, we were greeted by a super sweet hostess who sat us on a table by the water since the restaurant wasn't too full and the sunset was absolutely beautiful. Our waitress was also very kind and attentive - definitely an A+ for service! The restaurant itself is so pretty and had live music which was really nice, especially with the outside seating. The menu has a pretty good selection and after looking at a number of seemingly delicious selections, I ordered the baked haddock and was so glad I did. It was baked to perfection and that stuffing is to die for! The scampi sauce was a little spicy for me but the shrimp, broccolini, and new potatoes were cooked perfectly - delicious! My boyfriend ordered the steak tips which he enjoyed but did find the portion size to be very small. Overall, an amazing experience and I will definitely be back :)

Yelp
We had Sunday brunch (opening weekend?!) and everything was great. Loved the entertainment and the atmosphere, our food was amazing, and our server Jenna was super attentive and made sure we were all good the whole time we were there. Will def be back again! Love this spot by the water - can't beat it.

Yelp
Excellent food and great service. Our waitress Ryley was amazing!! Great live music! We will be back the next time we visit mom in Fall River.

Babs M.

Yelp
The wait for a table was quick but the service was horrible. we waited 32 minutes for our drinks to be delivered and they never came. Our waitress was delivering water and drinks to people who came in after us. She never took our food order, walking by and blatantly ignoring us. The table we were sat at was so wobbly had we got our drinks they probably would have spilled. we were told by 2 people that they would send someone right over to fix it. Very disappointed

Yelp
My group of 9 could not have been happier with our dinner at Pier 52 before our June 11, 2022 Ronnie Earl concert at the nearby Narrows Art Center. I highly recommend this spot to anyone coming for a concert. The setting is breathtaking, casual friendly comfort on the open grass, or covered outdoor seating on the waterfront, The menu literally has something for everyone, so be sure to check it out! Each of us chose different dishes, and, in a true rarity, every single person raved about how well prepared and delicious their meal was. They included raw bar, sushi, fish tacos, stuffed Halibut, , Chicken Papparadelle, Bourbon- marinated Steak tips cooked to perfection by a kitchen who knows what they are doing. Amanda R and the entire staff from host to bus service were all incredibly attentive. My only disappointment, as a wine lover, was the low scale of offerings that do not come close to matching the high quality of the food served. It truly should be redone from scratch. Highly recommended!

Yelp
We have gone twice in one week. Brunch was delicious - we had mimosas, French toast and Portuguese omelet. My husband said the breakfast potatoes were so good he wouldn't share any with me! The French toast was huge but so fluffy and light. Came back for dinner - I had fish tacos and he had fish and chips. Again, he says best fish and chips he's had. Beautiful spot right on the water. We'll be back!

Paula ..

Yelp
I had a fish dish. When it was served it had the head and tail there and I had to dig thru the bones. I think it should be on the menu or let the server know it is the entire dish. Very disappointed and went home hungry. 2 out of 4 of us got the dish. My friend felt the same way. My other 2 friends really enjoyed their meals. Server was exceptional. I would go back but they really need to let prop,e know.

Yelp
It was my first time coming to pier 52, I heard so many good things about it, but my experience was not that! I came with my mother and sister and the service off hand was a little weird(just to give you a little insight we did make a reservation) we got here and they lady claimed there was no tables available during our time which was fine so we waited and found a seat close to the water(which was first come first serve) it took a while for the waitress to attend to us which was fine because the view was breathtaking. when the waitress did finally attend to us, he was such in a rush to take our orders and didn't give us enough time to review the menu . When we placed are orders he then snatched the menu away from my mother after she didn't hear him say I'll be back, not only that he kept forgetting things like are utensils and extra plates, water etc it felt like we had to annoy him enough for him to bring the main utensils we needed to enjoy the meal with. He didn't even check on us and asked how the food was or anything. We had to keep waving him down in order for him to pay us any mind attention. We were very understandable because some people don't work well under pressure, but unfortunately, his attitude was very off putting.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. I keep my boat at the marina next door. The food is pretty good, but did not have a great experience otherwise. We were seated pretty quickly. When our server arrived, she had zero personality...all business..which was ok. I don't expect everyone to be "on" at all times, but it is a nicer restaurant and you expect some level of hospitality. We put in our drink order immediately and looked over the menu. After a bit the server returned and said the bar was backed up and asked if we wanted to put in for any starters. We got the raw bar platter and octopus. She retired shortly after with the drinks, one of which was incorrect(vodka rocks with olives, it had a lime). She realized when she was putting it down and returned with the olives...which I appreciate, but the olives and lime combination is a bit rough. we put in our entree order..nothing heavy, just a sandwich and chicken caesar salad. The raw bar platter and octopus arrived...the octopus was decent, but the raw bar was just ok...shrimp was good, but we had to re-shuck all the shellfish. Within 2 minutes of the appetizer being served, the entrees showed up...I honestly had no idea where this was going to fit on the table. The server just looked at us and said, "I'll wait". By this point, I had my fill..of the establishment, not necessarily the food. When the bill came, I attempted to pay the bill with cash and was then told they are cashless and must pay with a card. Again, not a big deal, but at times I carry just a money clip with cash and don't carry cards...fortunately, this wasn't one of those times. It wasn't that any one horrible thing happened, it was more "death by 1000 papercuts" situation....may try again, but it will be a while.

Yelp
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/h0msQeOeQYc One of my favorite appetizers & seafood plates . Love the atmosphere and drinks are Devine! Saying Hello to everyone ,all the way from Boston Celtics Nation Massachusetts

Yelp
I can't say ENOUGH about the experience I had at Pier 52 last night. The Ambiance was amazing- the most beautiful night all the tables are full of beautiful happy people exactly what you'd expect from a waterfront restaurant. The menu was one of the best in the area!! I've traveled extensively and eaten in fine restaurants across the country in NYC - Vegas - Chicago- LA - Houston and I would put this menu right up there in the top 10. We ordered the crab wontons- focaccia bread (outstanding!) and steak tips. As you can see in the pics the presentation definitely had the WOW factor and the preparation was 100% on point!! We sat at the bar and Monique was our bartender/server. She was happy and attentive - I give her 5 stars also! Just a reminder the marina does take cash only for tips. I can't wait to go back. Bravo Pier 52!

Yelp
I was excited to go here on a date this summer. We lasted twenty minutes. The whole place was surrounded by yellow jackets. Dozens of them. We watched them climb in and out of the liquor bottles the bartenders were serving to people . The bartenders said you get used to it as they kept dodging them. Disgusting and also, my date was very allergic. We had to leave.
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
Best place in Fall River. An amazing outside bar with incredible 360 view The salmon lime bowl is unbelievable! Always a go to in the summer.

Yelp
This is another one of my reviews of Pier 52...my first review was definitely NOT favorable...We returned to give them another shot. Thanks to "Emma", we'll be returning. Emma far out-shined our last server, who shall remain nameless...I sincerely thank "Emma" and so should Pier 52...top notch young lady !!

David F.

Yelp
We got a good seat quickly on Sunday night. Amanda, our server was amazing. The service was a little to good as our calamari (very good) came before our drinks. I really thought it came out before we had ordered. Very nice spot on the water with great views. My shrimp scampi was fabulous. My wife enjoyed her Caesar's salad with chicken.

Cali P.

Yelp
So fun! Excellent service, casual atmosphere with an element of "fancy", amazing views, and good love music while I was there. The food was fine, but I was there for atmosphere and views, really.

Yelp
Fantastic dinner at Pier 52. While I am a local I have never been and was pleasantly surprised! Reservation process was easy, plenty of parking, and just breathe taking views of lighthouse and all the boats traveling. Sat at the bar and our bartender Abby was outstanding. Very accommodating and friendly-- had a good understanding of menu items and what to recommend. And did I mention the view ?!?!?!? Burratta app was fantastic but has a kick--- so if you don't like spice you may want to ask them to leave that part out. Cod was great--- had a nice roasted flavor, Not traditional cod with bread crumbs. Lots of flavor and I would say hint of tumeric in sauce. Prices reasonable for the portion size. California roll was HUGE. But did I mention the view ?!?!? Again. lol Great place, great staff and great food. Newport in Fall River.
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
The views- amazing! The inside seating and bar area-beautifully set up. The live bands-definitely adds to the vibe The cocktails- I honestly don't know if I've ever had espresso martinis so bad in my life. I asked for my first one to be dark and it came out with cream liquor and the waiter said the bartender told me this was dark. For my second one, I requested it without the cream liquor. I couldn't even tell you what it tasted like. Think a watered down crappy iced coffee with a splash of vodka. I was beyond disappointed. The waiter was slammed so I didn't ask for a replacement. He was very friendly and handling a ton of tables. The calamari was fresh but lacked at any flavor, as did the marinara. I'd recommend this as potentially a spot for a glass of wine or a beer alongside an app. Or even better, sit in an Adirondack chair outside and soak in the surroundings.

Lixmarie W.

Yelp
Okay. So at first glance I thought how can this place be a restaurant but as you walk in, the place is bigger than it looked and prettier in person. We were in the area and wanted something to eat so I said why not try it. The view is fantastic! As soon as we sat down the waitress Chloe we had was attentive and such a pleasure to have. I arrived hungry so as a starter I ordered their spicy tuna sushi roll and the quinoa salad bowl with shrimp. That was one AWESOME sushi roll! Like WOW. It was fresh, well dressed and seasoned and just the right amount of heat. The quinoa bowl was good and nice sized grilled shrimp. My husband ordered their oysters. They didn't shuck them as well as he would like and contained a lot of grit, but thought the dressing it came with was delicious. He ordered the swordfish tacos and enjoyed them! He is not a big fish eater either! So that's a win! Honesty, I want to come back. Great views and good food. (Not a 5 due to oysters having too much sand)

Yelp
What an awesome spot. The place itself is beautiful. You are overlooking the ocean. Cant beat the location. And the ambiance and decor is spectacular. The food was great as well. The menu is large enough to satisfy all your needs from fish to meats. We started off with the raw bar and then I ordered the steak tips and the wife ordered the swordfish. I loved mine and she liked hers. She said hers was a little undercooked. But drinks were great and atmosphere is awesome. Would definitely come back

Yelp
Waterfront location? Check. Cool venue, under a tent, a cool bar, Adirondack seating by the water, and live music that was actually good? Check. $10 special on their sushi rolls and it was actually edible? Check. Distant, spaced out, non-service oriented, too-busy-to-check in on a customer for another food/drink order vibe from the bartender? Yeah, that too. Check. For that reason, 3 stars. Coulda been a solid 4 edging toward a 5. I left a $1 tip, and I never do that. I'm a habitual 20%+ tipper.

Yelp
Our server killed it and I mean that in a good way ! Food, drinks and service was great ! Thanks Shannon

Patrick P.

Yelp
terrible experience, I never leave reviews but I waited 30 min or so and not a single worker asked me even for a drink. 2 other parties were seated and served after I sat my self, would've been someone's easiest $100 in tips lol hope management acknowledges this and acts accordingly

Roma R.

Yelp
My entire group loved this place. Everything was just really great. Our waitress was an absolute doll and was so good to us and our baby. Gorgeous views! Definitely check it out before summers over.
google avatar

Christina D.

Yelp
Great location although very sunny and the umbrella didn't help much. I ordered an apricot salad that had NO apricots. When I asked the waitress she said they had been out a few weeks ago and couldn't see it but hadn't heard anything today. She asked the kitchen and they told her they were out and substituted strawberries. That would have been fine if the had told me and it cost $15. Didn't give us any money off the bill. False advertising- not great and very expensive.

Mark W.

Yelp
our first meal there. I was anticipating this all day. was NOT disappointed. the food was delicious. the service was excellent and the ambience was excellent. how can you not be disappointed with overlooking the water with a sunset like tonite. we will definitely be back. not to mention names but we like this better than the Cove. thank you

Vanessa H.

Yelp
This was my first time at Pier 52 and, I will NOT be going back. The food and drinks are extremely over priced for the amount and quality given. Also, the servers and cooks did not comprehend steak temps as I ordered my ribeye steak "blue" and, my mother ordered her steak tips "rare". When the food came out to the table the server reported that there is "no such thing as blue for a temp". My steak ended up being medium-rare and my mother's steak tips, were well done and tougher than leather. To make matters even worse, half of my steak was pure fat and gristle that should have been rendered off during any temperature cook. If you enjoy food that is not what you ordered or even described on the menu, as my meal was not reported to be extra spicy, then this may be the place for you. The only redeeming quality of my visit was the live entertainment of "Rock Fish", he was amazing.

Michael M.

Yelp
This place was so good! I really enjoy waterview restaurants and Pier 52 is one of the best I've ever been to because of the different options you have dining wise, as you can sit at the bar, dining area, outdoor tables or outdoor on the chairs directly on the grass by the water. I sat by the bar and was still close by the water. The ambiance at this place is great and you feel like you're in Martha's Vineyard or a more upscale restaurant. The service was great even though the waitress did forget a few things, but apologized for it. Everything I ate was so good, especially the shrimp tempura. Pier 52 is absolutely a great restaurant to be during the summer!
google avatar

Ray O.

Yelp
The service was horrendous, they gave our reservation away and after an hour of "waiting" they admitted someone else under our resy
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
I went to Pier 52 for brunch and to see the entertainment. The performer was Big Lux who plays violin and he was amazing. Otherwise I would never go back to this place. Part of the view is amazing but the other part is very industrial. Also, could they not put in a deck? I am not a fan of astroturf either.

Sophia R.

Yelp
Always amazing food, service, and the location is beautiful. Shannon was our waitress and she was great! Super friendly and funny!
