This was really good food. We ate everything on our plate. Already planning our next time going. The pier 88 sauce was delicious. This is a really nice place to go for seafood. We had the seafood boil. Dungeness crabs and snow crab legs were really good.

I really enjoyed Valentine's Day with Mr. Grumpy right here. Everyone was so nice, the food was amazing and I really liked the atmosphere. I just really wish I had brought a marker with me so that way I could add our names to the wall 😁

Me & some girlfriends decided to go out for lunch this past Sunday 2/18/24. One of my friends suggested pier88 and I was excited because I had heard so many great things about the restaurant. We arrive and we immediately get a table which I loved. The waiter dropped the menus on our table and didn’t come back for 10 minutes before he asked what are we drinking. We ordered our drinks and they were phenomenal I had ordered a tequila sunrise. Whoever was behind the bar made the drink perfect! We don’t see our waiter Edward for another 15 minutes before we can put our order in for food. The food comes back fast though. Extremely grateful for that. I ordered hush puppies and a boil bag. Which I say was pretty good in flavor. After we at our food. We are ready for more drinks and relaxation. Now everybody knows that the boil bag is messy and takes a lot of space on the table with the bucket. We haven’t saw our waiter for 20 minutes before we call him over and ask him nicely can he remove the trash and plates off the table. He rolls his eyes and says “JUST A SECOND”. We also at this time ordered more drinks and I decided to get a 6piece wing buffalo. After 10 more minutes our table is cleared and they bring our drinks and my wings. But the wings they brought out were just fried and plain no sauce on them. This isn’t what I ordered. I let a different server know my chicken wings are no good this isn’t what I ordered. He said “okay okay.” Waiting about 10 more minutes before I see Edward the sever again and I let him know my wings are not what I ordered I ordered buffalo. He says “okay great.” Took the wings to the back. Comes back 1 minute later with the same fried wings and they drizzled the sauce on them. The wings were barely covered with sauce. At this point I sent the wings back because it was very lazy of them to not even shake the wings up to evenly coat them. Just place sauce on top and pretend it’s okay. So overall it was a busy day for them place was packed within minutes of us sitting. What I did love is the selection of music there. When we were leaving some people were waiting. Unfortunately the restaurant seemed to be understaffed as our waiter Edward struggled to keep up with tables.

Google
R&B, Hip Hop, marked up walls, and crabs, overall a chill vibe. The food is phenomal!!! Still a pretty penny since it's sea food, but fairly priced for the quantity and quality. About a hundred bucks for two people's boils and appetizers. Our server Sonjia was the best you could ask for. Polite, friendly, great reccomendations, and she left us to eat - not interrupting every 5min like other places, but also not forgetting we exist either. Overall we will be coming back, the vibe is chiller than the Pier 88 on Jefferson. It's smaller and quieter.

My order was not what I expected. I ordered the combination pho and it was supposed to have all the beef in it and all I had was two thinly sliced flank and 3 small piece of tendon. I payed $18.00 a piece for two. And I feel like I didn’t get $18.00 worth of food. It wasn’t good at all. Went to pho 79 in Washington DC and it was great but the service was horrible. Must do better for that price. Never again will I order from there.

Google
Excellent food and service. Small bar and small restaurant seating area, but we were seated right away on a Friday night. The prices are super reasonable for the portion size. Completely surprised there weren’t more people here.

I am a frequent visitor, but this time I decided to bring my family along. Ty was our server, and she provided outstanding service. We were a group of 14, and while we were initially concerned when she didn’t write down any of our orders, she delivered flawlessly with no mistakes. Ty was not only professional and attentive but also had a great sense of humor. She was well-mannered, impeccably dressed, and even received a compliment from my husband on her pleasant fragrance. Despite managing multiple parties, she remained calm and composed throughout. This was truly the best service I’ve experienced in a long time. It's rare to find young people who are genuinely friendly, warm, and welcoming. I ordered the catfish basket and a C4 with Dungeness crab legs, both of which were delicious, and I was impressed with how quickly everything was served. We were all very pleased with our experience.

The food was excellent. The lunch menu was more than enough for a hungry person to get filled up. The waitress was great her name was Haley and on a Friday afternoon I would have expected things to be slow but it was a nice steady order placement, drinks, food, desserts. Clean restaurant and clean bathrooms.

Yelp
10/10 FOOD, APPETIZERS, SERVICE, DRINKS, AND AMBIANCE!!! Get the fried catfish, it's too bomb. This place deserves a trophy for hitting it all on point

Aya C.

Yelp
Overall had a good experience in the restaurant and the ambiance was great. Unfortunately I think I got a minor case of food poisoning. I was really excited for their happy hour and the service was great but my stomach really didn't agree. I think it was the calamari. It tasted rubbery and not fresh. The rest of the meal was good ! Shrimp batter could have used some more seasoning like old bay. Not sure I would return as my stomach has been in shambles since.

Nick J.

Yelp
My favorite boil place. The lunch specials make it an easy choice for my favorite flavors anytime.

Amiya R.

Yelp
They took forever with my food and then on top of that it only had a potato corn and some crab like hello? The service was ok it wasn't that good like we'd sit to ere and see our waitress and she'd walk by us

Andrew D.

Yelp
This place has "everybody has been coming here for years" vibes! Friendly service, great menu. We came here with our daughter who loves the Tilapia Po Boy. We got some huge raw oysters and some awesome peel and eat shrimp. Corn and potatoes were delicious!! Will definitely go back!!

Angela G.

Yelp
We sat at the bar for our boil in the bag crab. The environment was cool, inviting, kinda divey. I was visiting from Detroit and felt right at home. One guy even claimed to have met "Southwest T," Terry Flenoury of BMF in prison. Why do people assume we're all BMF when I say I'm from Detroit? lol. But why was there a lady there with her toddler child in the bar area throwing back dranks?!

Lottie H.

Yelp
Food/service was good. Would definitely eat there again. Ambiance was good too. Food was hot and fresh as well.

Quisha H.

Yelp
Stopped here while in Hampton with friends. We each got fish baskets... the drinks were strong. Will return.

Melissa C.

Yelp
The food is great. The atmosphere not so much. We used to love going here but it seems the last 2-3 years they shifted and are trying to make this place more club atmosphere than restaurant. And I don't mean it's after 8pm and they dimmed the lighting... I mean the music is loud so it sounds like a dive bar where people are yelling over the music to communicate. And all that does it make them play the music louder. After our most recent visit (on a Sunday around 3pm) we were yelling across the table to communicate with each other because the music was so loud. We finally decided to have our food boxed to go and we would not attempt to return if this was how the atmosphere would be. If I had stayed any longer I probably would have had an anxiety attack because of how overwhelming the entire experience was. Sensory overload is an understatement. We were also seated by the bar where it smelled like customers were smoking right there in the restaurant from the smell of tobacco wafting off of their clothes. I can't say that a customer smelling is the restaurants fault but maybe the table seating shouldn't be close enough for me to smell the person sitting at the bar.

Yelp
Perfect boil bags! Great pricing! Cooked to order. Great Happy Hours during the week, Mon-Thur, 3-7pm. This is definitely your place! Friendly Staff and ambiance. Quick Service!

Yolanda V.

Yelp
My food was great! I had a fried shrimp basket and a broiled entree with the 88 sauce.... yummy!! Plus the bar was jumping with specials which is always a plus.

Rick T.

Yelp
Never been here before, and walked in purely to find something to eat. The restaurant was quiet and low-key, Nothing extrvagant or overbearing. I sat at the bar, so my opnion of service would be moot. The bartender did a fine job of talking care of me (i was the only one at the bar). Ordered the Tilapia Basket, and the fish and the french fries were done well. The cost was minimal, thereby making the overall meal a good value.

Drew T.

Yelp
Now I have had some pretty bad boils. But I must say, WTF IS THAT SALTY ASS WATERY ASS BROTH THAT Pier88 Restaurant in HAMPTON, VA is serving? The worst boil ever in life bro. I CANNOT believe y'all eat there!! Tf? Unbelievable ‼‼ What a waste of seafood. The drinks and service good tho.

Jeannine C.

Yelp
Not impressed at all. I loved the atmosphere, the staff, and the drinks. They have a great selection of drinks but the food was mediocre at best. I chose a boil bag that contained 1/2 pound of crab, shrimp, corn. Sausage and potatoes with 1 egg. I added clams and some more eggs because im fat and greedy, but the cajun seasoning for me was lack luster. I felt like my entire meal wasn't seasoned at all and tasted very plain., Also my sausage had a funny taste, and i didn't like it.. there was more sausage in the bag than there was everything else so it lowkey ruined my meal.My coworkers who I dined with also felt the same regarding the seasoning and sausage so for me that verified it wasn't just my food. The staff were nice and accommodated our small birthday gathering and even sang happy birthday which was nice.

Robin B.

Yelp
I tried their Whiting fish sandwich and my son had the tilapia the portions were pretty decent and the fish was really tasty. Will definitely be going back.

Patricia E.

Yelp
The service was great. The bartender was very personable and made sure that we were satisfied throughout our time, without being too overbearing lol. The restaurant is family friendly and pretty lively. I ordered the 88 Lagoon and it was good. My boil bag was very salty though. That's the only thing that I really didn't like. This was the second time I stopped in, but my first visit I just ordered lemon pepper wings. So, I wanted to give them a try with something different. However, the seafood boil bag was really really salty.

Nylah K.

Yelp
This is saddening, but after my most recent visit I don't think I will be returning to this location. The staff were inattentive, there wasn't much sauce in our boil bags, and the fried cheese sticks were not good like on previous visits. Also, we had exited the restaurant and got in the car once my boyfriend realized he needed to use the bathroom. They did not let him use the bathroom when he re-entered the restaurant. I would recommend going to the Chesapeake location instead.

Renae A.

Yelp
Food was amazing and staff is very courteous. We had fried catfish and clam baskets. Right texture and not over cooked. It's about 2pm so the place wasn't packed. Word of mouth was true. Yelp
I came here for happy hour with a friend. I was recovering from a stomach bug so I was nervous but I was craving some lemon pepper wings. Our wait staff was nice and attentive. I ordered a lemon pepper basket and fried. The fries were good and the chicken was fried hard how I like it but it wasn't too lemon peppery in my opinion. My friend had mozzarella sticks, chicken and Fried shrimp. The shrimp was good but I wasn't completely sold on their cocktail sauce but then again that's minor. He also had a margarita but I didn't drink because I had a long drive ahead. I enjoyed the ambience it had a cute little sports bar vibe and I'd definitely go again, stay longer and try out their drinks and maybe a boil bag. All in all it was great for a quick bite to eat, service was good and food came out quick!

Rachael W.

Yelp
The food here wasn't bad, I'm used to more flavor at a seafood place. I think the service is what really ruined it for me. The waitress came and took our drink and food order all at once and we didn't see her again the rest of the time we were there. When we were finished with our food, we waited about 30 minutes for the check and she never showed back up. No one did. So we went to the counter and asked to pay so we could leave. Terrible experience.

Loranshea F.

Yelp
Good music. Good food. Good atmosphere. My son and I went around 5:30, we got seated immediately. I got a #1 special sauce and spicy. My son got shrimp and crab mild.

Terrel W.

Yelp
Don't eat here. I came in to get a take out. Staff was very nice, but I didn't get the sauce I ordered on my meal. They told me that I can bring back my meal. They will replace it. I didn't have lunch to eat. Most places say hey, bring your receipt and your meal will be replaced. Enjoy the food, we messed up on. They offered me 10%. Really? That does nothing. Very disappointed. Made sure that I shared this with my coworkers here too. Thanks for nothing!

Kenneth G.

Yelp
2nd review a few days later. We had Fried Shrimp and Fried Oysters. The next day all 3 of us had severe indigestion and acid relux. Bad gas.

Michael R.

Yelp
Got the catfish last week (apologies for the late review) and it was very good. Nicely seasoned and not salty. The batter was good and crunchy that surrounded a properly cooked tender catfish on a bed of seemed to be endless fries! Now it's time to get the rest of what is on the menu.

Yelp
I seldom find a fun restaurant with an unusual experience in eating and this may just be because I haven't found others; but this Pier 88 was a pleasure. 'Tucked' into the shopping area where I had just visited , this place was a pleasant surprise. I actually stopped because there was an open parking space in front and because it was early afternoon, I was hungry, and I love seafood. I was NOT disappointed! My waitress was pleasant and sweet and my service was exemplary. I ordered the shrimp boil in garlic butter, which was served in a large boiling bag accompanied by plastic gloves, bib, and bucket. Included with about 2dozen! nice large shrimp were a perfectly boiled medium potato and half ear of corn for LESS than $11! Including my half dozen raw oysters, I had a totally satisfying lunch AND fun experience eating.. finger eating is always a plus, as opposed to cloth-dining. You bet I'll return , when in the Hanover,VA area.

Neva W.

Yelp
So this was my second visit here and I still love it. Now that's extremely odd for me because I do NOT eat any seafood at all. However the drinks and the chicken po boy with Cajun fries are worth coming over and over. The chicken po boy is 2 Hufriend chicken tenders, lettuce, and some pretty amazing sauce over it. I love the decor, the staff, and the bartenders are the bomb. I haven't ever loved eating anywhere that serves seafood because of the smell, and somehow Pier doesn't smell like a complete seafood haven. I will for sure be visiting again very soon because happy house is Sunday - Thursday and with those prices it would be hard to keep me out of there. I'm still giving a 5 star even tho there is only 2 chicken options on their menu. Because both are really good! I will be back again this week I'm sure.

Yelp
The food is just awful and so is the management! The restaurant ask customers for review on yelp for a 10% discount, but we refuse to do that to mislead other customers hard earned money. Here are a few things that went wrong: First, The moment we walk in the music is extremely loud and if you do not know, you would think it's a club, rather than family restaurant. Throughout the dining experience, we heard profanity and inappropriate languages in the songs they play. The place is also fairly dirty with sticky tables. Second, the soft drinks has no carbonation and we spoke with manager, the Asian guy, he just goes "no carbonation? ehhh ok". No offer to replace or anything. Talked our nice server, she stated that they told management and they don't care. Seriously? Third, the food did came out fast which was good. The fried shrimp basket we had was really good and so are the fries. However, when our main dish, which we got two different low country boil bags, they were just awful. The seasoning and sauce is so watery and oily, making nothing stick to the seafood. The seafood was over cooked as crab legs meats shrinks and won't come out. The shrimp is cook to the point that the shell is barely hanging on and meat was rubbery. Not to mention the corn, which I took a bite and could not finish as it was mushy, felt like prior day leftovers. Spent almost $100 for bad quality food and drink. Definitely NOT recommended and NOT worth the money.

Shanna L.

Yelp
Came in here on a Sunday and it was packed . Wait was only around 10 minutes. First , drinks are very cheap compared to a lot of places and very good . The server was lovely and service was quick and efficient . I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because my food wasn't as flavorful as expected. Taste more like mild Cajun instead of medium Cajun . Oh and there is a sign at bar - Yelp reviews 10% off

Meshach G.

Yelp
Though i enjoyed ordering the food for delivery most of the time, there was one time I got food poisoning. I usually stuck to the po boys then ventured into the steamed items, that's where I messed up. It might have just been a one time thing, but me and the whole family were sick. When I visited the restaurant prior to that I did have good timley service

Monte' G.

Yelp
10% off for yelp reviews !! It's written on the white board behind the bar!!! How great is that!!! Our first entry was great, friendly and inviting! The music playing on the head speakers were nice! 90's R&B vibes. Our server was great! Very upbeat and friendly. Unfortunately there is no WiFi here for guest which is kind of upsetting being that the (Pier88) browser connection appears on my device once being seated. The bartender with the high ponytail and large hop ear rings was a bit rude, loud and obnoxious. Apparently asking for orange slices required the bartender (not my server, but the bartender) to announce it to the entire venue then look at me and say "dang you want an orange!" Ummm first and for most and if I did?! Tf Secondly, why was that at all necessary?! And lastly $3 for 3 orange slices is outrageous. I gave them right back to the bartender with a $1 tip. Maybe it'll help uplift her while at work. That experience is definitely the reason for this place losing a star from me. What a nasty way to handle something. Smh

Huni M.

Yelp
Cool neighborhood place. Our server name was Sha, We ordered the fried oyster and fries with side of fried shrimp and corn. The oysters were just okay but the batter was lumpy. The shrimp were tasty. The cajun fries were not fresh (so they weren't eaten). The corn on the cob came in a plastic bag with garlic butter oil or sauce, it was 3 to an order.

Naomi J.

Yelp
WOW! this place is yummy, so much better than the other places like it in the area. I had no idea this was a seafood bag place from the outside but it is super cute on the inside and everything is well priced. I opted for a half a pound of black mussels with corn and potatoes. Everything was good but the corn was like extra good. I will get another one added to my bag last time. I got a shooter from the bar which wasn't on the menu but they still made well however the sweet tea wasn't the best. Now why is this only a 3 star review? I had to knock stars off for the service all the way up to the management level. 1) our server was just slow, slow with everything and rarely came to our table 2) the menu spells out that there is an 18% gratuity added to parties of 8 or more. We ask for our checks and our server says "okay but first I must let you know that there is gratuity added because their are six of you" ahhhh no, not according to your menu?! Management comes and informs us they are well area of the TYPO in their menu but that is the rules. Um again, no. There's no sign indicating this ANYWHERE in the building. Although the gratuity was removed from our bill eventually I do not appreciate them making no effort to edit their menu.

Twanda C.

Yelp
Awesome crew and amazing food! We stayed in Hampton a few days and went to Pier 88 two days back to back. Nick and his crew are the BEST! Excited for RVA location coming soon.

Mi M.

Yelp
First time trying out this type of Boiling Seafood craze. For the most part the menu has a lot to offer, different seafood options and flavors, kinda pricey (cheaper than some other places in the area) but the amount of food received is what you are paying for. I ordered the C3 to-go so I was really excited to give the deliciousness that I smelled in the car a try. My meal included shrimp, corn, crab cluster, potatoes, and mussels. I ordered it medium spicy with all 3 sauces combined. This meal is VERY messy so definitely wear the bib that is provided or wear something you don't mind messing up. Overall, the food tasted great, sauce was well seasoned with the exact amount of spice I wanted. The sauce is very oily and by the time I got home the food was on the colder side, but I enjoyed it either way. The crab I could have done without, crab really isn't in season right now so you can tell it was frozen just by the shell being very chewy and hard to open. The cajun fries weren't the greatest and could have done without, they were not crispy kinda soft and were cold time I was ready to eat them. I would definitely give this place a try again, but would prefer to eat inside the establishment than take it home.

Nnel G.

Yelp
So, I had intentions on sitting at the bar for happy hour, but it was packed when I arrived. However, I was seated quickly. I ordered two drinks, calamari and wings. My server was attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant. I'd return. Oh. And you get 10% off of review on yelp.

Franklin F.

Yelp
I asked my friend the other day about seafood restaurants in Hampton and he told me that I needed to go to Pier 88 on Coliseum Drive. So I took his recommendation and went to Pier 88 for dinner. When I walked in I saw her a few friends of mine who were also there for the first time. I spoke to them briefly and made my way to the bar where I was just going to get some carry out but decided to stay. I ordered a beer and looked at the menu for about 10 minutes before I settling on a shrimp po boy sandwich. One of the first things that I noticed when I walked in is that this restaurant had been built from the floor up with some really nice decor. They had several big screens around the bar. I believe the bar tender was the owner or manager. He was doing a good job trying to sell me on coming back on Sunday for football. They had some really good drink specials posted for Sunday. I must admit that I was tempted to return. When my food arrived, I washing for a sub roll with shrimp. Instead their po boy sandwich is served on a hamburger bun. I asked if they had any special sauce for their sandwiches like an aioli? He was like, "nah, we have tarter sauce and cocktail sauce." I thought that every rock solid seafood spot had a nice signature sauce. I was mistaken. Threw a little tarter sauce on my shrimp sandwich and knocked it out with a side of fries. The food was okay. I didn't think that what I had was that great that I'd go out of my way to return to Pier 88. But I was definitely intrigued by their Sunday football specials. I also got a chance to see the bartender make this flaming drink that had a lot of liquor in it. Not a bad little side show to go with my shrimp sandwich. Oh, they specialize in seafood Boils. Several guys were eating them at the bar when I walked in. Looked like a decent amount of food if you want a seafood gut bomb.

Heather L.

Yelp
Thankful that this place was open on Christmas, but sad to say the food was mediocre. My husband and I ordered some wings and the country boil, which lacked in flavor to say the least. Thankful that the shrimp was cooked all the way through, but for the price, you could go elsewhere and get the same thing, but more flavorful. Also side note, apparently the weekday special doesn't apply on holidays! I will say that the service was phenomenal, our waitress was amazing and kind and attentive, but not helicopter mom status.

Melissa D.

Yelp
Seafood boil is 10/10. The service is even better. Will be coming back here on my visits. Seriously a gem.

C.J. N.

Yelp
Went out to drink - happy hour all day Sunday. Got here 8 minutes before it closed and I made it on time to have my drinks and eat my food, comfortably. We were not rushed. The food as always is okay... nothing too spectacular but the prices are GREEEEAT

Jenny J.

Yelp
Unless it's for fried shrimp, I wouldn't even return. The fried oysters were large but way over cooked and heavily breaded with dry flavorless breading. They were barely edible. No concept of what flash frying means :::hard pass::::

Billie F.

Yelp
Fantastic food and great service! I had the snow crab legs and my husband had the shrimp. Delicious! Our server Trey was excellent. Very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Cherrelle E.

Yelp
Buttery ass crab legs is all I got to say!!! Omg how delicious! My first time trying the boil and nowwww I know why people are so addicted. I'm definitely going to be a regular here. The bartenders were so dope and the vibe was definitely the most comfortable I've experienced so far. They have a Sunday happy hour so I hope they know I'll be back next Sunday!! Be sure to bring a sharpie so you can write a message on their walls.

Chad C.

Yelp
Not good. No taste ... I'm here with my girl right now waiting for her to finish up so we can leave . But I'm done eating writing this .i ordered a C2 no eggs no sausages . They came back with what I did not want. Take it back an came back with no black mussels. At this time I'm mad an don't wanna eat . So I ordered a C3 . It had no flavour . Shrimps was had as fuck but it all good tho . I'll have my girl pay for this shit. Just like in my pic .trash. Hurry up bring my bloodclat check come .

Donielle J.

Yelp
Good atmosphere and good music. Good drinks and well stocked bar. This establishment allows you to write on the walls which is good, but it also extends to the bathroom. The vibe is laid back, so I don't recommend coming here for an intimate setting. Food was delicious. I enjoyed the mussels, sausage, egg, lobster tail, and shrimp boil in Pier 88 sauce. Service was good. The bathrooms were a little dirty, and I judge an establishment based on the cleanliness of their bathrooms. They definitely got a side eye. But, I'll definitely come back to try the other sauces.

Kiera M.

Yelp
Not the best and also not the worst I've had at these new coming seafood boil restaurants . They are very reasonably priced . The only complaint is their sauce is very oily more butter / oil than actual flavor .

Jairus S.

Yelp
If you like white washed seafood, this is the place to go. The staff was really nice though

Minnie F.

Yelp
This place was alright. The food wasn't that good. It wasn't nasty it was just alright. I ordered the crab legs, mussels, and shrimp in 88 sauce & they had no flavor. I see everyone's raving about their happy hour, but I went there for the food, so I'm a little disappointed

Ron P.

Yelp
Here at Pier 88 enjoying time with wifey before the holiday kicking it off great service and good food!!!

Liz J.

Yelp
Came here this past weekend with my family and have officially made it my go to spot when I visit down. Food was good (Great prices) and server (tall blonde guy) was attentive which made the experience enjoyable and pleasant. Great atmosphere and music as well. Let's not forget all day happy hour on Sunday! Now the cons: the extra spicy seafood boil is not spicy at all not even a tiny bit. Half lb only comes with 1 potatoe which in my opinion should come with at least 3, but I'm no food cost expert.
