North Beach’s sprawling deck between the USS Lexington and Texas State Aquarium serves fried seafood platters, boils, and cold beer with sea breeze. A long‑running, women‑owned spot that keeps things fun and unfussy.

Pier 99 – Father’s Day Visit We chose Pier 99 to celebrate Father’s Day and made a reservation in advance, anticipating the holiday crowd. Despite that, we still ended up waiting around 15–20 minutes to be seated. Understandable for a busy day, though a bit disappointing given the reservation. Once seated, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Here’s a quick rundown of what we tried: • Chips & Salsa: The salsa tasted like your standard store-bought jar—something you’d find on the shelf at HEB. Not bad, just not special. • Calamari: Surprisingly good. Crispy batter, not overly greasy, and the squid wasn’t rubbery or gummy—a win. • Grilled Fish with Asparagus: The dish was plated nicely and the fish was well-cooked, though not especially memorable in terms of flavor. The asparagus added a fresh touch. • Seafood Cajun Bowl: It was okay. Nothing stood out, but it did the job. • Steak: Juicy and cooked well, but leaned heavily on the salty side—something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to seasoning. Overall, the meal matched the casual, beachside atmosphere—reliable comfort food, but nothing that pushed the envelope. Great for a laid-back family outing, though if you’re looking for standout flavors or elevated seafood, you might leave wanting a bit more.

"$Bill" was the most phenomenal server! We are back in Corpus Christi after 26 yrs! Lived in NYC for 14 yrs and Houston for 12! Corpus Christi has the best restaurants- Pier 99 was great back then and today... proved they have the best grilled shrimp tacos we've ever had! Snow crab was perfect! Our new favorite place! Thanks $Bill for the turtle stories! 🥰

Our waitress Denise was awesome and very knowledgeable about the menu and made some excellent recommendations 😁. We left very full and very happy 😁! I had the Oscar Halibut and my hubby had the fish and chips, and added on shrimp. I will definitely go back and can't wait to try something else.

Pier 99 is the first place I recommend to people looking for seafood. They’re wanting “fresh catch,” you’ll get the option here. We went with the Snapper with Crawfish Cream Sauce as our server, Javier, coached us on what the most-requested dishes were. You’d also come here just for the views. The ocean waves to you right next to the back porch, and there you can see a stage for live music days. We’ll be back again and again. Their Turtle Cheesecake is a sweet treat, too.

Google
We had a great time. Javier was a great server. The food exceeded our expectations, the atmosphere was laid back, fun, and a no rush kind of feeling. Highly recommend eating here if you get the chance!

First time visitor. Restaurant has a nice, laid-back atmosphere. Had the Shrimp Bonanza and everything on it was very well prepared...even the broccoli with mushroom! Dish can probably feed 3 or 4! Also has a great view of the Lexington.

On an outing with my beautiful wife, we had dinner at pier 99. The highlight of our dinning experience was the service. Our waitress was amazing. The food however, was another story. I ordered the 12oz steak and a side of shrimp 🍤 and this is where the pleasantries end. The shrimp were tiny and looked anorexic. And I hardly ever use steak sauce unless the steak is flavorless.....I used plenty of A-1 and the icing on the cake, the broccoli was barely luke warm and hard. Perhaps undercooked. My wife ordered a tipsy turtle which is a house specialty and it was weak and flavorless. So our waitress took control of the situation and brought her a different drink and apologized. Apparently the bartender was new and....well we'll leave it at that. The live music was really good but overall the food was terrible. If you're going to charge a lot for your food at least take pride in preparing it an make it look somewhat like it looks on the menu. I love giving great reviews when they're warranted but unfortunately the verdict in this case is two thumbs down 👎 👎 again the bright spot in it all was the service.

Yelp
After visiting the USS Lexington, we stopped by for a late lunch. We were hopeful because of the restaurant being on the water and an establishment open for over 20 years. Our family ordered two fried calamari's, two fried fish and shrimp lunch specials, fried oyster lunch special, fried oyster po-boy, and a kid fried shrimp with a side of broccoli. The food was good and the seafood fresh. The establishment itself did not look clean. The women's restroom had a stall out of order and smelled terrible, which made me nervous to stay. But I'm glad we did. I wish it was a bit more put together.

Yelp
First - I have to say the restaurant is cool. 100%. Cool location. Cool interior. Exactly what you expect from a "beachside" restaurant in Corpis. So for that - 5 stars. Ok.. the service ... I've never heard so many "I DONT KNOW"'s from a Waitress before. Multiple times questions were asked - 1. Do tomatoes come on the Club sandwich (in the picture you couldn't see and it didn't give an explanation)? - Waitress : I DONT KNOW ... (my friends daughter who wanted to order is allergic) - so ok.. just NO TOMATOES PLEASE. 2. What kind of fish is the tacos? - Waitress: I DONT KNOW - ok.. guess we will just see. We were not trying to be complicated, just wanted to make sure we enjoyed our food and no one needed an epi pin! We ordered hush puppies for appetizer- I added coleslaw (she didn't know how much the sides were) We each had different items and the menu does look great! For sure! I ordered from the Lunch menu because I didn't want too much food. The Shrimp and fish with fries - $9.99. My daughter ordered the fish tacos - $13.99 Son bowl of Gumbo - $6.99 Two friends - 1 got the Club (minus tomatoes) -$12.99 the other got the Shrimp Alfredo- $15.99. Enjoyed breeze, watching the birds, saw a guy net fishing off the pier and another older gentleman swam like 15 laps around the USS Lexington. Food came out... Gumbo had spilled into my fries and they were soggy. Gumbo had spilled into the friends Alfredo. Fish tacos were cold. My fried fish and shrimp were dripping with oil. We're still eating because we're hungry from the 2 hour drive down from SA. Totally forgot about the "appetizers" and almost done we get the Hushpuppies - Too full to eat them. But.. ok. Again.. loved the environment, loved the vibe, our waitress seemed sweet (the CUSTOMER SERVICE VOICE AND DEMEANOR was on point) but over all.. I would come back and have a drink or two and maybe just try the peel and eat shrimp at night just for the view. As someone who works in food service - know your menu. If you don't know - find out. It wasn't busy. By any means. We were there at 3:30pm there were only 3 other tables and 4-5 other servers.

Yelp
We saw this restaurant from the flight deck of the USS Lexington Museum. It's just a quick 1 minute walk from the base of the museum walkway so we decided to have a late lunch here. We were seated right away on the deck - which had great big umbrellas for shade and the breeze was awesome. Our server, Jacquelyn, was great! Friendly and attentive. Our food was good. I had a burger and my husband had the bourbon glazed (?) chicken sandwich. I also got a mango frozen daiquiri... and it was good! There was also live music (one man "band" - Billy Snipes). We enjoyed our visit here.

Yelp
Grace was kind, friendly, helpful & patient. She laughed at all my cheesy jokes. Food was yummy. Portion size was good. Prices were fair. Atmosphere is awesome! I mean, c'mon, who doesn't enjoy eating beachside? This place is dog friendly also as I saw a couple pups on the patio while I dined. There were so many good looking options on the menu. I finally decided on the chicken & rice as well as an onion ring appetizer. No complaints.

Yelp
It was nice to sit outside, the breeze blowing with live music playing. The food was also good. However the time to be served, on a slow Sunday afternoon, was crazy. We waited over an hour for our food (grilled chicken, a Ceasar salad, a corn dog, chicken strips and fish & shrimp plate). Seems like the kitchen is down. Our server was great, super friendly.
google avatar

Cece V.

Yelp
Everything went fine, food was pretty good came out fast, only downside I would say is that our server never came to the table after a 10 minute wait, I called a very nice lady to help us and she did. She did amazing! We were sat outside since all the seating is outdoor mostly but it wasn't to bad since next to water and the breeze from the ocean helped cool everyone off, this place was very nice and live music was a plus and they sung beautifully! Would recommend if drinking possibly eating

Yelp
Great casual vibe. You have the choice to sit indoors or outdoors. The views of Corpus Christi Bay and the USS Lexington alone are worth the trip.

Yelp
Do not recommend. Horrible service. Waited an hour for our food on a sat night- within the hr our waitress did not check up on us (party of 2). Fried calamari did not taste fresh. By the time they brought our food out our drinks were super watered down- we were already done and ready to leave. Food was a 1/10. When I asked for the check again the waitress was nowhere to be found, the kitchen staff and other waitresses were looking for her to close us out. *** establishment was not super busy for the horrible serve we received *** Waste of time, waste of money.

Diana S.

Yelp
I brought my husband here for his birthday. He always loves this place and they never disappoint. I love the food which they never go wrong but especially the service is outstanding. These two girls Saleh and Grace made us feel special and to say today even more so that Victor was really surprised. We come to Corpus and first place we think of is Pier 99 . Thank you Pier 99 for being the best. We also have to include the manager Doug too. Thank you

Yelp
The United States flag should have been a warning- especially when you have a retired aircraft carrier from World War II in your backyard! But hey... I tried because of local convenience/location. The oysters were freshly battered and fried... the salt content was so off the charts- thank goodness for fresh horseradish! The ownership need to remember the city council that refuses to clean common areas around the restaurant - DOES NOT mean " carte blanche" to reflect the same in your establishment. Poor Selena rolling in her grave at the disgrace of Corpus Christi! I only came to pay my respects to her and the poor sailors disgraceful reflected with a flag rotten and hanging in distress!
google avatar

Laurie B.

Yelp
DO NOOOOOT,I repeat do not order the oysters, very hard to eat, too small, could barely get them out of the shell because they didn't shuck them correctly. Our waitress was very rude, store bought onion rings. I regret coming here

Yelp
We wanted to try this place for lunch today since we were visiting the aquarium. We went around lunch time 12ish. Sat down ordered. Drinks came out fast. We got our food and realized we didn't get any silverware at all or any cocktail sauce or tarter with the seafood we had ordered. Only reason why I gave 4 out of 5. Other than that the food was good and fresh. The fried fish could have been meatier or bigger it was very thin and fried. The oysters were delicious. Will come back again!

Yelp
We had an incredibly disappointing experience here on Saturday, July 5th. We were a party of 9 and meeting my daughter's boyfriend's family for the first time --- it was me, my mom, my 18-year-old, her boyfriend, and his family (his parents, his brother, his grandfather, and his uncle). While we expected some wait on a busy holiday weekend, we ended up waiting over 1.5 hours to be seated--only to watch them give our table away to another party of 9 who arrived much later. Even though we were told it was "first come, first served" and that everyone had to be present to get on the list, that clearly wasn't followed. Once we were finally seated, things only got worse. Our server, Scott B., seemed visibly annoyed from the start. He took so long to even approach our table that another female staff member had to step in just to take our drink orders. It felt like we were bothering him just by ordering or asking questions. We ordered cheese dip as an appetizer, but it took over 30 minutes to arrive. Turns out it had been delivered by mistake to the other party of 9 seated next to us, and they ate it even though it wasn't theirs. No one checked on us during this time--we actually had to send someone from our table to the front to ask about it. A staff member admitted the mix-up and said they'd remake it and get it out to us. The queso was decent once it finally arrived, and the chips were fresh, but my Bloody Mary was a disappointment--mostly ice, watery, and lacking flavor. Our entrees took over an hour to arrive. I ordered the fish and shrimp platter, but it came out missing fish. I wasn't even given a fork, and I had to ask Scott and two other staff members three separate times before I finally got one--all while waiting for my missing fish to be brought out. Scott acted irritated every time we had to ask for anything. When the missing fish finally arrived, it was so salty it was inedible--everyone at the table agreed it was way too salty to eat. The shrimp were just okay--mostly breading with little shrimp inside. The sides were just as disappointing. The fries were cold, the hushpuppies were room temperature, and the coleslaw--which should have been cold--was actually warm. Honestly, almost everything at the table came out either cold or lukewarm. The only exceptions were the fried green tomatoes my mom ordered and two other dishes--just three hot dishes out of our entire large order. As if that wasn't bad enough, the table we were seated at had sharp, splintered wood sticking out from it, which I didn't notice until it tore my brand new dress--ruining it completely. When I told the manager, he was apologetic and said he would comp my meal to make it right. However, when Scott brought the check, not only was my meal not removed, but he also showed more attitude and expected one person to pay the entire bill. When we asked for separate checks, he acted like it was a huge hassle and was extremely rude throughout. He also messed up the split checks and initially charged me for items that weren't mine. Just pointing this out seemed to irritate him even more. After a lot of back-and-forth, I finally got the correct bill--but instead of my meal being comped as the manager promised, they only took 10% off the total bill, which didn't even begin to cover the ruined dress or terrible experience. By the time we left, we had been there for over four hours. To top it all off, Scott never mentioned that gratuity was automatically added to the bill. The payment screen was confusing, and I unknowingly tipped again--leaving me with a nearly $70 bill for cold food, rude service, and a ruined dress. My receipt also showed some odd overcharges--my subtotal was higher than expected, and it seemed like additional gratuity had been slipped in. Between the awful service, poorly handled food, long waits, cold dishes, ruined clothing, and shady billing, this was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I would never return here or recommend it to anyone--especially if you end up with Scott B. as your server.

Yelp
View was really pretty service slow but very nice, got the shrimp peel them appetizer and they ended up being very mushy and soggy falling apart with a slight fishy taste do not recommend zero out of 10, the fresh catch blackened fish was pretty good, crab cakes didnt come out till all food was half eaten, pina colada is a watered down slush

Very affordable and we enjoyed being out side near the water

Courtney L.

Yelp
Yuck! Cold and salty food. My "flounder" was room temp. None of their fish is local. Ask! It's farm raised Vietnamese fish. This place needs a true revamp!
google avatar

Maryann B.

Yelp
Great food! Good selection and reasonable prices. Portions were generous. Sat outside as there was shade and a breeze. Pleasant service.

Amanda L.

Yelp
Yansi was a great waitress that served us today. Our food came out freshly made (except for the rice pilaf). I ordered blackened shrimp tacos and my husband ordered the fried oyster Po'boy with French fries. They have live entertainment on weekends. Great place for Happy Hour during the week!!

Debbie V.

Yelp
Ate here twice while in Corpus. Food, staff and atmosphere was great but beware.... We were asked if we were paying with cash or credit card. We said cash. When we got our bill the waitresses (both visits) charged the extra up charge for using a credit card but we did not use our card. We paid cash. So, check your bills and make sure you're being charged correctly for everything. We didn't see the mistake on our first visit bill until we got back to our hotel but we did catch our second visit. We called it to the attention of our waitress. She was not too happy. She said now I'll have to redo the bill. Then she came and just gave us the over charge money amount back to us which was okay. All in all we would definitely go back to this restaurant but also check our bill.

Dezi G.

Yelp
Cool place and atmosphere. Service was great, very friendly staff. But in my opinion it was overall mid. Ordered a burger and it was very dry and tasteless. Tasted like a frozen patty they threw on the grill. Seafood gumbo was mid but not bad. The flys were crazy outside and inside seating had a semi weird odor. Wasn't insanely bad but I wouldn't necessarily pick this place again

Yelp
We toured the USS Lexington and worked up an appetite, so we walked to Pier 99. The fried shrimp was delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great place, location, drinks, and dog friendly! The USS Lexington is awesome to see sitting on patio outside.

Yelp
I have eaten here a few times live music great service good food and drinks I think the drinks to good that's why I'm just making a post differently one of my favorite spots in the short time we have been here

Yelp
The food was cooked too perfectly. The atmosphere was superb. And the service was outstanding.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
This is our go-to restaurant in Corpus. The atmosphere is perfect, right on the bay. The food is good. Something for kids and adults. If you don't like seafood (like me), they still have a couple of options for you. Go expecting a beach-town restaurant. Very laid back, but lots of fun.
google avatar

Kayla A.

Yelp
It's a neat spot to eat with awesome sights! The staff is nice! The food is okay. I'd pass on that ceviche next time but the fried fish and shrimp were good! Bonus love for the French fries.

Yelp
Plus 1 star for the band and friendly service. I went in the off season. My fish was cooked well, the drinks were fast and the view was awesome.

Yelp
I rate restaurants on 4 core values which is Customer Service, Taste of food, Price & Cleanliness. Service - Is okay. It's not bad but they also don't go out of the way to do anything extra. The waitress's was nice and came to check on us often. Taste - I liked the snapper but the shrimp Diablo jalapeños were small and overcooked. Value - For 2 adult meals spent $70 and The amount of food they give was not what was in the picture, we ordered the snapper with Cajun sauce. Cleanliness- Despite the outside look the inside is clean. Restrooms don't compare to Buc-ee's but it's usable. Overall - I recommend this place for the music but the Food could use upgrade qualify.

Yelp
A Monday night, not at all crowded. Only four other tables were seated and a couple people at the bar. Our waitress arrived pretty quickly after we were seated and introduced herself and a trainee. Water, soda, and one beer were ordered, along with one appetizer. Water and soda came promptly, but it was 10 minutes for the beer and I had to ask about it. It was obvious it had been forgotten from their reaction and when brought was warmer than it should have been. We were checked on a couple times, dogs were brought water. Our appetizer arrived. Maryland crab cakes but they were full of bell peppers and onions - definitely a no-no for something called a "Maryland crab cake." We ordered our entrees when the appetizer was delivered. Now my warm beer was long gone and it had been easily 15 minutes since we'd seen either waitress, in a now even more empty restaurant. I ordered another beer when one of them finally appeared. We waited 40 minutes for a grilled chicken breast with sides, Cajun pasta, and chicken Alfredo. Except the correct sides didn't arrive with the chicken breast and the Alfredo didn't arrive at all. Someone other than our waitress brought the two entrees out. Ten minutes later we found one of our waitresses and asked about the correct sides and missing entree. "Oh, it got mixed up with another table. It'll be right out and I'll get those sides." Nice of someone to tell us. It was another 15 minutes and I'd finished my Cajun pasta (which was really tasty) and my husband had finished his very small chicken breast with no sides, because the correct ones never arrived. Lo and behold our daughter's Alfredo arrived. Asked about the missing sides again. They never did appear. We asked for our check and it had an extra entree on it. It took so long before the waitress came back that I got up and went looking for her. I explained the extra entree and got "Oh, I'll take that off." No oops or sorry. Another 15 for a corrected ticket. So, if you're looking for an extremely leisurely meal and aren't too picky about what and when it is brought to you, eat here.

Yelp
I have been here countless times, coming down from Houston. I really don't understand the lower overall score here. Solid food at a reasonable price. Outdoor seating (limited indoor seating available) with friendly staff and occasional live music that's really good. This place is incredible.
google avatar

Maria R.

Yelp
Really looking forward to this visit but it was a let down. The girls had a seafood boil but it had no flavor, hot boiled peel shrimp for appetizer and bland as well. The boudin balls were ok as well as the seafood dip. I had the clam chowder and it was ok, just light on the cream and clam. My mom had the fried shrimp platter and they were chewy and rubbery. Sorry to say, it was a let down. The scenery and proximity to the beach is great and parking was accesible. Nice to walk about and take in the breeze. The music on Saturday was a bonus and enjoyed it. The service was great and the waitstaff were very attentive.

Yelp
Food and service was great had a good view of the bay and the lunch just helped complete the experience . I had fish tacos and they were outstanding. a good dinning experience

Yelp
Food was Amazing and Hailey our server was amazing too love the outside area nice live music and a great atmosphere while you get to eat seafood I love it here and we will definitely be back 5/5 from me!!!

Yelp
Great food and service! We love Corpus Christi and will Definitely be back for more crab

Bryan B.

Yelp
I was here the last week of May, 2025. I have eaten here many times. The food has always had awesome flavor and texture. This time the Mega Gumbo was very spicy. I have always had a rich brown gumbo sauce. Never seen a "Orange" color gumbo sauce. The shrimp was a little mushy. The paprika was used very heavily sprinkled all over the bowl. The Best part of the meal was the "Key Lime Pie!" Service- Good, when we saw them. This must have been their "Off" Day! I will be back.

Laney S.

Yelp
Live music, friendly workers, delicious food. We ordered the shrimp bonanza and although the kitchen took a while the vibes were good and our server Hailey H was amazing! Shrimp was cooked great, would recommend.
google avatar

Genevie S.

Yelp
When the gratuity is already included on the bill, it should not affect the level of service provided to customers. Just because a tip has been added does not mean that staff should neglect refills or check on patrons. Unfortunately, our experience at this establishment was disappointing. The food was not impressive, and the drinks, particularly the tea, lacked sufficient ice. Overall, our visit was unsatisfactory, especially considering it was our first time here.

Anonymous C.

Yelp
The food is great! I loved the service, the staff are so nice!! There is also a friendly mama cat that we fed!!!

Kara C.

Yelp
Food is trash. The boil comes UNSEASONED. You have to season it your self. It's boiled in unseasoned water. My drink came with weird floaty stuff, the waitress told me it was oil. The place is packed and way too close together and there dogs that bark nonstop allowed in. There were at least three yapping dogs. Terrible atmosphere.

Hermilee H.

Yelp
After visiting the USS Lexington we decided to try out a local stop recommended by loads of people. As we walked down to the host station we asked for a table of two and the hosts asked if we would like to sit in the sun which we said no too so we were told to wait and she got extremely fussy when I asked the wait time stating she wasn't allowed to list wait time when there is live music which is also okay. When it came to us sitting we heard her complain about how people didn't want to sit in the sun and were causing a wait time. So some waiter or something came and said they had a table open and she said people didn't want sit there because it was super windy but he didn't care and we got sat there. As I just wanted to try their food I wasn't too concerned about the wind but it started to pick up and it was extremely frustrating. Our waiter gabe was sure a sweetheart and was so sweet. But as our food came out I knew we made the wrong choice. We got the onion rings as an appetizer and they was super good but then we got the boiled shrimp and it was a big no ! The taste was absolutely awful and have to clean the poop out yourself was making me lose me appetite. Then when it came to our entrees the waiter told after 20 min of waiting he listed the wrong market price so I didn't get food because my stomach was already upset from the shrimp and my boyfriend food took forever to come out and it wasn't even correct. And something that threw me off was when we got the ticket to check out none of the prices were listed just the total. So we couldn't even make sure everything was rung up correctly. I know this is one big rant but I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Bre R.

Yelp
My family and I was so excited to dine in at pier 99 after a long wait to actually get seated . We was told it will be 15-20 wait so my family and I decided to go take a walk back to our truck and come back all in less than 10 minutes and I know this because I set a timer just to ensure we wouldn't miss our spot , however after coming back and waiting a total of 35 minutes we was finally seated , hosted informed us he already called our name and we wasn't there. Another 30 minutes go by after being seated without even being acknowledged we was even there , no server/waiter came up to offered to get us drink nor take our order we eventually left to find another place to eat at
google avatar

Yelp
Save your money and go some where better! Came to this place with reasonable expectations. It was Sunday night, and the place was very empty and the hostess refused to set us an ocean view table because it was a six seater, and she said only large parties could sit there. Those tables remained empty all night. We decided to go to the bar and get some food there. The service was very low energy. No one seems to be happy to be there. We ordered appetizers both of which they were completely out of, no clams, and no Mexican shrimp cocktail, I got tired of asking for appetizers, so we ordered food which was good. I would also like to know this place was completely infested with mosquitoes. I couldn't hardly enjoy my meal, because I spent all my time swatting mosquitoes away. I've been to a lot of outdoor venues, but this one was ridiculous. Go elsewhere...

Yelp
First time here. Blackbeards had a long wait. Ordered mahi fresh fish of the day with green beans, brocolli and added 4 shrimp grilled. Mahi was dry and seemed overcooked. Needed tartar which seemed homemade. Green beans canned and fatty bacon was added. Brocolli was steamed but still crunchy. Shrimp were good. Super cold inside even with jackets on. A guy was singing, which was cool. Place seemed more like a bar. (34)

Yelp
Excellent! Great food! They had live music! My Mom celebrated her 81st birthday and had a great time! So much on the plate, there's no way you could finish!

Yelp
Overall it was okay. I got the grilled flounder(based on server recommendation), which had several bones in it and was over cooked. The sauce and rice were good. Potatoes and broccoli lacked any sort of seasoning. We did get to sit by the water and our server was friendly. Probably would come back but would order something else.
