I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel, and I must give a huge shoutout to the front desk hero, Ronnell (I hope I got the spelling right!). His customer service is absolutely top-notch and made my stay with my mom truly unforgettable. Our room was not only stunning but also immaculate, with a gorgeous balcony that had direct ocean views—just breathtaking! The housekeeping staff did an incredible job maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of our room, contributing to our overall comfort. We enjoyed delicious meals at the restaurant; the food was absolutely delightful! A special mention to the bartender as well, who served up fabulous drinks that complemented our stay perfectly. The evening social on the rooftop was a highlight, with a stunning setup featuring nuts, olives, pretzels, and rolled-up blankets for added comfort. The valet service was quick and efficient, which made our check-in and check-out seamless. Plus, the pool and jacuzzi were pristine and provided a relaxing escape. This hotel is truly a gem, thanks to its friendly and accommodating staff. I can’t wait to return, all because of the amazing service we received from everyone, especially Ronnell. Thank you, everyone, for making our stay so special—you guys rock!

Google
Excellent stay! The location is unbeatable, easy walking distance to plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. The view from the room balcony overlooking the ocean is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be returning.

Just finished a week long stay at this resort and had a fantastic experience. The staff were very attentive, friendly, and made me feel like I was at home away from home. I love the fact I had easy access was able to the beach and beautiful pacific sunsets. Will definitely book here again!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is perfect—right on the beachfront with stunning ocean views. The rooms were very clean, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The restaurant offered a great variety of delicious food, with something for everyone. A special shoutout to Gaby for her amazing service—she was professional, quick, and always smiling, which made our experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing and beautiful getaway!

Google
We really enjoyed our stay here for an extended weekend Ronnell at the front desk is an amazing person and you can tell he really cares about his guests. The restaurants and bar on site have fantastic food as well, and don’t forget about the views. The beach wasn’t crowded and the sand is so soft I could spend days just sitting and watch the waves.

Google
The hotel is located on the beach. The views are spectacular and the staff is extremely courteous and professional. Ronelle made our trip particularly special by providing an upgraded corner unit room with a shaving ocean view. ||The room was spacious and clean. ||We enjoyed breakfast on the property. The food was delicious. I would recommend this place for a brief getaway. ||It’s not close to downtown San Diego or popular attractions. A car is needed to see the sites of San Diego.

Google
Amazing customer service. All the employees were so friendly and accommodating, Rinell, Daniella the ladies from the restaurant all very professional and with a smile every time I had a question. The view in our room was fantastic! Thank you for a great stay. Definitely recommend

Google
This hotel is in a prime location within Imperial Beach, right next to the pier where locals surf and the Mike Hess Brewery. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious with your own lanai and there is also a full bar with two restaurants. We initially had a partial ocean view on the first night, but were upgraded for our last night with a full ocean view, which was gorgeous! Shoutout to Emeli and Kassandra for outstanding customer service, thank you for a great stay ladies!

Yelp
Check in process was fantastic. I had to add another day to our stay and staff was very helpful. We even talked about vacationing on our own for a bit. I got a room with an amazing view!!!! That alone is worth the extra day. If you dont have a direct view you can head up to the fifth floor to watch the sunset and have their complimentary snacks and drinks. Everything was clean. When I needed anything it was brought up right away. I stay in January, price was decent. Checked price for same room in July a bit to much for my comfort level, but if you can afford it, I can imagine it would be a great stay.

Yelp
We are San Diego locals (live in Eastlake) and we love staycations. We have stayed here over 5x and it's a hit or miss every freaking time. I feel like the Marriott just slapped their name on this hotel and hired anyone. The front desk lady from today (since check-in) has been so rude. I made a comment to one of the attendants who came to assist us at our room and he said "oh yeah, she's like that". With all of our experiences, today was the one that made me write a review. If you're not happy at your customer service job, take a day or take a job that doesn't require you to interact with people! It's not our fault. We want to get in and out as fast as you do. We were just here in March. I'm happy I didn't see her then. We will be exploring other nearby hotels.

Yelp
I checked into this hotel for Father's Day weekend. I booked this last minute and didn't expect much since it was my fault. When I showed up at the hotel I was greeted by Carlos and he was nice enough to showed me the room that was available and helped me get a good view room. The following day I decided to eat breakfast at Toasted and I just have to say the Southern Fried chicken eggs Benedict that David our server recommended was amazing. If you decide to have brunch here, look for Dave. He is amazing! Take it from someone who's been to multiple cities!

Megan S.

Yelp
Stayed here in one of the oceanfront rooms and it was great! The suite we had was large and very clean. The entire wall facing the water is a window so it was a really nice view and you can hear the water. The pool is heated and the hot tub was nice as well. Front desk team was very helpful and made good recommendations. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and it was just ok. Overall, we will definitely be back

Yelp
I just booked this hotel for a long weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday. This hotel should be closed down. There is a problem with the Tijuana River draining all sewer water into the ocean. The beach has been closed for more than 900 days. The smell is terrible. Mosquitoes and flies in the room. The room needs better maintenance. I had breakfast at a Toast. Good food, friendly staff, but the ceiling at the bar area is full of flies. Marriott should really look into this property. It was not cheap.

Marie B.

Yelp
On the beach! Nothing more to say. The hotel was easy. Valet parking, everything close to hotel so park car and forget it. Room was clean and the view good. Other rooms faced the beach and I was jealous. Hotel has guest food and drink all week between certain hours. Food was good drinks limited but perfect for this type of gathering. Balcony overlooks ocean there are heaters for any cool weather. This was very nice. Great place when you just need a beach day or week.

Krissy H.

Yelp
It's a shame they let a Cohn restaurant go, and replaced it with "Toasted". I think it really brought the classiness of the hotel down. Toasted sounds like a breakfast place for frat guys, and they have a section of their menu called "morning wood".....that's trashy. The menu of toasted is overpriced and very breakfast heavy throughout the whole day. Sea 180 was very upscale and quality, and the prices matched the value. They were also able to accommodate many food allergies, and Toasted's menu does not.

Yelp
Had to cancel day of check in because of a emergency and tried to get hotel credit to stay for next trip and wouldn't even grant this. Hotel management and staff definitely do not care about other people here

Yelp
Pier South Resort Marriott Autograph Collection Marriott Bonvoy 800 Seacoast Drive San Diego, CA 91932 Zae checked us in and her service was sublime we literally couldn't say enough good things about her, Sandy the restaurant manager, and Jasmine was our waitress and she was supreb. Fernando was excellent also. Last but certainly not least, Hammie the manager bent over backawards to insure our stay was "the best ever!" Kudos to this newly discovered gem!

Mari B.

Yelp
Filthy. I wouldn't recommend. I was not going to write a review but after reading the reviews I decided I should. It's obvious that the management of this hotel has no intention to improve things around here. It's mind blowing that a hotel of this sort can't clean a room properly. The area is surrounded by liquor stores and drunks roam the streets at night. Weird vibes

BJ J.

Yelp
The resort had good ratings yet there was a bad smell in and around the hotel. My room was full of mosquitos. The restaurant and staff was good but not sure if I would return. Aa a Titanium member and world traveler, I wouldn't consider this place as an upscale autograph hotel. But hey. Stay and see for yourself.

Natasha M.

Yelp
Beautiful view. Outside dining is a little chilly but they have heaters and blankets. Rooms are spacious and ocean view is awesome. Food was good. Staff was courteous and attentive. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
The best stay ever thank you cecilia and frenando and all the night staff and who helped us with our reservation when I accidentally booked it for the day after he was nice enough to get us in a room for the night we do appreciate it so much our heater wasn't working and they did provide accommodations which we were so grateful for the gentleman in the early morning shift was so kind to us. Also, everything was beautiful the staff was completely so friendly. I can't believe it. I can't wait to go back to this hotel. The hotel is under some renovations, but the roads were beautiful right at the beach. I just can't wait to go back. Thank you. Melissa & Thomas Davis Also, I highly do recommend him getting a massage. It was great. The gentleman who help me with mine was awesome thank you. Just forgot some of the staff's name, but they were also friendly.

Yelp
I read the reviews before going to this hotel. I am so happy that I didn't allow some of the comments to deter my visit. This is a small hotel with a friendly staff. It is situated right in the middle of the Imperial Beach neighborhood. I had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the beach. Of course, the view from that room is its selling point!!. Sitting on the balcony during sunset was the highlight of everyday for me. If you aren't in an ocean front room, check out the sunset from the 5th floor sky deck for the nightly cocktail hour. I was happy to find a Peloton on the property! I completed my weekly challenge on that bike!!! I'd definitely go back for a visit if the chance arises. I enjoyed it. Return Factor: 80%

Yelp
I visited for four nights in late April 2022. My spouse is ambassador level with Marriott. She called one week prior and they stated bicycles were available in plentiful abundance and came as part of the resort fee. When we arrived I was told by the concierge that they had one adult bike and one child's bike and the remainder of the fleet had been broken for over a month and management refused to repair. We called the front desk and requested to speak to the manager Audi by directly leaving her a voicemail. We requested twice at the front desk for her to call subsequently she never called us back. On the next week day we called and requested the general manager Naudia call us by leaving her a direct voicemail. Once again we stopped at the desk twice the next two days and they assured us she got the message but she never contacted us. In this area it costs more to rent a bike than a one day car rental this was a key part our decision to stay at this resort as we had previously been there in 2016. At that time it WAS a great resort. While working out I noticed the water bubble had a wrapper label in the water and it remained there for three days it was never corrected. I told the Spa Manager. The pool deck had half of one of the cabana covers torn off and one cabana had no cover at all. The pool deck was dirty and not cleaned for the 5 days we were there. The room (307) had gnats and we didn't report it to anybody because I knew they weren't gonna do anything just like they failed to repair or replace the other three issues. A copy of this complaint will be forwarded to corporate and with an attempt to straighten this place out. It is a great location and the beach is nice. The best part of our stay was the beach and the rooftop drinks at sunset each night was nice. The female host (also a fitness Instructor) was a great server and host. She should be the Manager. When we told the front desk receptionists (4 different ones) that Ambassador level guests stay at Marriott properties over 100 nights year they were clueless. The Corporate attention coming there way may be very enlightening.

Yelp
What a beautiful stay! My gf and I loved the King Ocean view Studio. Just amazing. I have to give a big shout out to Hammie, the Resort manager! He raises the bar for customer service! He will always make sure you're catered to however he can, and will make it his priority that you have a pleasant stay. I also have to give a shout out to the Front Desk Staff as well! A great check-in/out experience and very welcoming. Now if Kassandra could only finish her coffee in one shift...that would be awesome! LOL We will definitely be back again...and again! Thank you Pier South Resort :)

Yelp
Impossible to sleep here. The doors are all glass and the lights outside the room are beyond bright. It's like daylight in the room ALL NIGHT!! I stuffed a pillow into the ridiculous window in the bathroom as the bathroom door is glass. Didn't do very much. Entrance door is floor to ceiling glass with a 10 million candlepower light right outside. I stayed one sleepless night and moved to another hotel. The room decor is nothing less than weird even though apparently new. Junky looking and no two pieces fit with the others. Like they went to a closeout sale and took what was left. Only parking options are valet or leave it on the street somewhere. Ocean view is as advertised. Zero stars for this place. Don't stay there.

Yelp
Food was absolutely fantastic we had a little delay with the service at first but then after the waitress got to us Sam she was absolutely wonderful it was just a little busy , I guess at the time that we were there I had to state that was well done and to be honest I don't like Cray fish, but that Cray fish sauce was excellent I had it on the side so you won't see it on the steak but it was fantastic dishes shimmy was ridiculous in that corn cake with the ice cream was amazing will definitely be back and you can't beat the views!

Susan R.

Yelp
Be aware, the word "Resort" in the name of the hotel refers to the location - NOT the level of service you should expect. For us this was meant to be a lazy vacation - long days by the beach or pool or on our balcony looking at the ocean, breakfast and dinner in the on-site restaurant, maybe some lazy lunches out. We planned to make use of the on-site spa. 1. We called in advance to book spa appointments. No one ever answered the phone, despite trying multiple times several weeks in advance. Their on-line booking system doesn't work. We didn't use the spa. Might be nice for all we know, but we were so frustrated we declined to use this service. Here's a tip - there are a bunch of spa's right in town. Use those instead. 2. Breakfasts were carry out only! What the heck? This is not a resort experience. We also saw a child standing on the food preparation area. I mean I love children, but anyone's shoes in the spot where food is prepared is gross - PLEASE DO BETTER! Picture attached. 3. Dinner order was incorrect. I was left with no dinner while my husband ate his dinner without me. When my correct dinner finally arrived, I was essentially eating alone since my husband was done. Waiter and manager avoided us until we asked about it. The restaurant did pay for part of our meal, but only after we flagged them down and expressed our disappointment in the experience. All dinners were now also eaten off property. Lucky for us there are some fun restaurants in town. Overall the staff was friendly - and helpful when approached. But they all seemed untrained and unprofessional. Utter disappointment in this hotel experience.

Yelp
Ocean Front Rm#211 The summer has been busy and a bit exhausting. Between sickness and surgeries and a property vandalism plus just life stuff we really needed a relaxing getaway. This was the last week before school started and our one and only opportunity for my husband and I to get away. We chose Pier South because we stayed there two years ago and really enjoyed ourselves and it had the amenities we were looking for and we were willing to pay their premium asking price. We specifically wanted Room Service, a full service restaurant, in room movies, and an ocean view. We needed to rest and just veg out. We double checked directly with the hotel website prior to booking in order to check for closures because some places are understaffed or still applying Covid restrictions. The website assured us of our choice. We checked in on a Monday and had dinner in the on-site restaurant. We have eaten here several times since our first stay in 6/2020, this time the food was a disappointment. The wedge salad is our go to and it was terrible, over dressed, & soggy. We shared a cheeseburger that was served cold and over cooked. The wait staff was wonderful and attentive. However, throughout the week they couldn't manage to make a consistent decaf vanilla latte. Tuesday morning we couldn't find the room service menu so we called the front desk only to find out that they weren't offering room service any longer for any meals AND their restaurant was not open for breakfast anymore. Tuesday afternoon we started having sporadic wifi connection which impacted viewing their on demand tv programming. By Wednesday the wifi was down for the whole hotel and it never resumed. So 3 of the 4 reasons we chose the hotel were a bust. We understand that wifi issues happen but 4/5 days is ridiculous. And the misrepresentation of the food options on the Marriott website is unacceptable. Initially upon complaining the hotel tried to suggest that we were still getting a great rate. Eventually they acknowledged that the rate we paid was represented to include the things we were looking for so it wasn't really that great because se weren't getting what we paid for. We also pointed out that we had had other hotel choices prior to booking but we chose the Pier South. And now we were stuck because we didn't have the time to research and move elsewhere. Ultimately they credited us the daily resort fees to our account. But bottom line it was not the restful and relaxing vacation we desperately needed. In addition the hotel room was very dirty. The outside common areas were dirty the last time we stayed so we expected that. But this time in the room there were spills and stains on the furniture and the floors were unswept and there was toilet paper stuck to the wall. The whole experience was super frustrating. So traveler beware!

Tony L.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel for few days. We had a beautiful ocean view room. Staff made us feel at home and customer service is excellent. Front office supervisor Ronell Jones is truly a professional and courteous. He was very attentive and making sure our stay was comfortable.

Janeth L.

Yelp
This is the second time I stay at this hotel. I had a similar experience the first time as I did this past weekend. They are going through a remodel or have just completed it. Either way, the people they contracted for the job were sloppy. Our toilet was dirty and would move when you would sit on it to do your business. Trash from the maintenance was left on the floor as well as sticky materials left on the floor. The pool wasn't as heated as it should've been for the weather. They didn't have pool towels on both days we were visiting pool area. When we asked front desk, they only had one. We had a party of 4. Do the math. Our coffee maker wasn't plugged in and we couldn't just plug it where it was located as the lamp and refrigerator were already plugged in. So we had to relocate to another area. Such an inconvenience. Our remote control for the television. When we asked to get it looked at they didn't show up until hours later. At that point we had already troubleshooted and used some of our own batteries. We asked to get transferred to another room, but they did not budge even though they had availability. They offered to come fix the toilet while we were just waking up. I will not be staying here in the future. They did the minimum remodel just to get them buy. They don't mind charging $450 per night and wanting it ti be high end, but will not treat their guests that way. I have attached pictures.

Yelp
My wife and I are locals in the San Diego area. We were getting married, and decided to book a staycation at Pier South in Imperial Beach the weekend before our wedding. We had hoped for a relaxing getaway to share some time together before our wedding day. Spending $1500 is a big deal for our household, but after looking at the Pier South website and trusting the Marriott brand, we decided it was worth it to splurge as a pre-honeymoon trip before our big day. I will be frank: the hotel was a terrible disappointment. The website shows a beautifully appointed resort-style facility. Under the Amenities tab, it is described as having "an intimate resort vibe" Most of the amenities listed on the hotel website are not available. Those that are available are in terrible condition, have limited hours wholly different from those posted on the website, or haven't existed in years (e.g. the onsite outdoor yoga classes). While I am fully aware of the impact of COVID, the problems we encountered are not related to the pandemic/health concerns, evidence little to no upkeep of rooms or supplies, a grossly overpriced venue, and no attempt to match the hotel product advertised on the website. The degree of misrepresentation is so severe, it qualifies as false or deceptive advertising. We opted for the corner executive suite, expecting a lovely room. The carpet was filthy, and the floors were so dirty my bare feet were brown with dirt within minutes. The air conditioner vent was so loud we had to turn it off because we couldn't sleep. Most of the window cranks were broken such that we could not open the windows. The door latch was not secure, having clearly been broken off and screwed back into the same door frame multiple times. The "lighted mirror" was missing lights, the long mirror was rusted, and the wheels on the bathroom cart were rusted and broken. None of the amenities shown in the photo of the bar area were in the room (water, soda, TeaJava; see photo). When we went down to the onsite convenience store, the shelves and refrigerators were almost empty. There weren't even simple sanitary or other guest supplies available. The website lists slippers in the rooms, which did not exist. The "plush" robes were only available on request, and looked nothing like the photos on the site; the fabric was full of holes, rough to the touch and worn through. The onsite restaurant, SEA180, is lovely. But nowhere on the website does it specify that breakfast is take-out only during the week. While the website lists room service as an amenity, there is no room service available of any kind. The website shows a row of lovely chaise lounges right on the beach. Those chairs do not exist. What is actually available is a pile of first-come, first-serve broken, old, sandy beach chairs We intentionally left our beach gear at home because we didn't think we would need it. We were wrong. Ultimately, we were wrong about choosing Pier South at all. We chose a "resort" because we had hoped to stay on the premises for everything we needed. We were prepared to spend money at the store for supplies. We ended up shopping at a local bodega for amenities as simple as bottled water, because there were none onsite. There were only two luggage carts in the whole hotel, so we ended up carrying our own bags up and down stairs and elevators. One of the worst parts of the weekend may have been the expressions on the faces of the staff. They are so obviously overwhelmed and overworked. When I checked out, the person helping me asked me how my stay was. I told her the truth: the people who work here are lovely. They are clearly trying to do their best. But the hotel itself is a disaster. I told her I had a feeling it was not the first time she'd heard that, and she said, "No. It's not." I have lost faith in the Marriott brand after this experience. I have sent a total of 7 emails, across 5 different email addresses and contact points, over the course of a month trying to address my concerns, get a refund...any level of customer service. Each time I write, I am told someone will be in touch with me. No one has reached out and there has been no resolution. I'm writing this review to hopefully prevent someone else from having the same awful experience. Do not stay at this hotel.

Jane C.

Yelp
I love this little spot. It needs a bit updating but the views are spectacular and the location is worth it. Staff are exceptional. Slept like a dream and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
If I could leave a 0 stars I would. The way Pier South and Marriott have handled the situation is beyond disgusting. My husband and I went to this hotel for our 'babymoon' as the pictures on their website and through the Marriott app made it look like it was a beautiful beach front hotel. IT IS NOT. We used our Marriott points to book the room (this will become relevant later), but the minute we got to our room, we decided to not stay due to the abhorrent condition of the hotel room. After about 3 hours at the hotel, we checked out. We had gone to the hotel restaurant, ate lunch, and called the manager letting them know the issues with the room. The manager said the hotel is going 'under renovations' and essentially all the rooms would be about the same but maintenance can come and fix any issues we have with the room. Not sure how maintenance could have fixed the mold situation in the bathroom so we declined (refer to pictures). However, the manager offered to give us back our money if we left right then and there and we gladly accepted. We asked about our points at check out and they said Marriott will handle that but they credited us all resort fees, etc. that were not included when we originally reserved the room with our points through the Marriott app. We call Marriott upon our return and they began to give us the run around how the hotel needs to credit us our points (not them) then to them now saying the hotel is claiming we stayed the night. WE DID NOT STAY THE NIGHT. After going back and forth and being on hold for hours --- over the course of several days -- Marriott tells us because the hotel did not check us out, THE HOTEL CAN AND IS KEEPING OUR POINTS. NOW, after several more follow ups with Pier South, Pier South now claims because they couldn't rent the room out, they won't give us back our points. WHY DOES EVERYONE KEEP CHANGING THEIR STORY?? Maybe they realized we wouldn't give up on the fact we did not stay the night there. Eventually, Pier South said they would give us 10,000 of our 53,000 points used for the night, but why wasn't any of this mentioned at check out? Pier South stated that the points would be up to Marriott upon check out. Now, they are willing to give back 10,000 points. Who actually has the authority then to give back points? (SIDE NOTE: Pier South said we should receive the 10,000 points in 3-5 business days. It has now been well over the three to five business days and we have yet to receive our points.) We honestly held out as long as we could on this review in hopes that they would resolve the issues, but they refuse to handle this situation. The fact Pier South can lie, say we didn't check out when we did, keep our points when we did not use any of their hotel, then bring up this cancellation policy WAY after we've had to constantly follow up regarding our points boggles my mind. Marriott refuses to address these issues and instead just keeps pointing the finger at Pier South. South Pier and Marriott are a joke at this point. I'm just sadden we didn't check Yelp sooner. We chose to trust the pictures and reviews on the Marriott app instead and lost a lot of points as a result.

Yelp
Don't even consider this hotel, the hair dryer was so gross (see my pictures), and client services was so rude. The valet guy, instead of saying "can I..."or "please"...", just directly commended us like "l need the valet tag!", treating us like prisoner other than the hotel's guests. Everything in the hotel is so expensive and poor quality. The only reason l gave one star here is because there was a receptionist lady, don't know her name, but really nice and treat us like guests.

Joe S.

Yelp
I enjoyed this hotel so much! It felt like my own personal mini apartment, the views of the ocean outside your personal patio are amazing & you're within walking distance to many food places. Just a couple feet away from the ocean with even a nice restaurant that's part of the hotel on the beach as well. I can't wait to come back!

Stephanie C.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to Pier South for 5 years now. The large suite rooms are very comfortable for a family giving kids and adults some space. We usually stay in the ocean view suites . This time room 212 the executive suite . The past few years I've noticed the furniture is getting run down. Sofas and dressers are showing the wear and tear . Don't expect a luxurious stay , your staying at a hotel that is easily assessable to the beach. The view in room 212 is beautiful but the amenities for the beach are not Marriott standards . No staff by the pool / beach area to hand out towels , torn flimsy umbrellas for guest to shade from the sun and the beach access door is broken ! So your card won't work , you'll have to walk all the way to the front of the entrance. Honestly, we probably won't return until there's renovations. For 700 dollars a night , we plan to stay somewhere else where the amenities are better than sub par at the time . FYI Marriott titanium members get a continental breakfast.

Yelp
Where to start an amazing experience from the rooms to the restaurant downstairs, Justin was an amazing server. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This was our first time staying at this resort and we had a fantastic time. Great location and the beaches are not too crowded. It is easy to get in and out of. The valet parking is not expensive so worth paying for. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. I would recommend to anyone looking for a little getaway. Also, make sure to try the local shops around IB. It is a small resort so be ready to wait for the elevator. The rooms are decent but could use a little updating. The only reason I did not give this place 5 stars was because of the room we had originally booked had an "ocean view" which was facing the parking lot. The staff advised this was considered an ocean view. Luckily, the manager Luis was able to move us to an actual ocean view the next day. He also waved the resort fees and valet fees. Keep in mind the walls are thin do you will hear the people next door and in the hallways slamming the doors.

Yelp
Review of one star is for Hotel Valet Service at Pier South Resort, Autograph Collection located at 800 Seacoast Dr. Imperial Beach, CA due to damage (Pass door 6-10" scratch/dent) the Valet caused to our car on the night of 7/30/2022, valet ticket #798 in which the property manager completely ignored or took any fault in, so potential Valet'ers please know that if your vehicle gets damaged at this place, in the care of the Valet, they will not admit to fault. On the night of 7/30/2022 after my wife took her 2020 Subaru Crosstrek to the carwash, we went to SEA180 which the restaurant portion of the Hotel. We turned our car to the Valet driver who was a young blonde male about Mid-twenties with glasses (I did not get his name but he was very rude to other costumers) as we waited for him take our keys, another customer approached his desk and was waiting (to hand in return ticket), the Valet looked at them and said "are you waiting for a car or something" the customer responded frustrated "or something?" to which the Valet responded "it's been a long day, don't push it" (he seemed very frustrated maybe due to being overwhelmed). Valet driver complained that although there are no parking spots available to park all the valet customers, the policy is to park all the costumers coming into Valet. He kind of gave the indication they were parking the cars on the street (I can't prove this) We handed the Valet driver our keys but before he drove away, we all checked the car (and I believe it's Valets policy to mark any damage to vehicles) which our car had none, and the valet ticket I have, does not have any damage marking either, and I'm sure the security video cameras would also show the incident and no damage to our car. After dinner at your restaurant and as soon as the car was brought back to us by the valet driver, my wife noticed the damage to her right passenger door right away, there should also be video of the incident captured by your security system on July 30,2022 around 6:50 pm. We pointed the damage right away, but the Valet employees were not sure of what to do, so after about 20 minutes of them discussing what happened, the initial Valet driver who parked our car wrote an incident report, took my information, and took pictures of the damage and my driver's license (with his cellphone), however, they refused to give me a copy of said report, saying it was against hotel policy to give the report out. They wouldn't even give me the name of manager, they said somebody would be contacting me about how the situation was going to be handled, the girl behind the hotel desk gave me a nkhalil@piersouthresort.com email address who she claimed was to the manager and whom never returned my email that I sent the same night of 7/30/2022. Since the employees would not give me an incident report (which is funny since they wrote one up and took pictures) I called the sheriffs' department and reported the event. Event# E7973948 Taken by Deputy badge #3290 Imperial Beach Sherriff's Department Deputy Flores E We turned the damage to our Insurance company, who is fixing the damage minus $500 deductible (close to $1000.00 claim), however, because I gave permission to the Valet driver to drive the car, this accident is considered "at fault" and will reflect as such on our 1 owner vehicle and insurance policy. We are locals from Chula Vista and have been customers of the SEA180 restaurant for many years (not a cheap restaurant), and never had an issue with Valet until this week. SO, please be aware and use Valet at your own risk! You have lost a costumer forever (I know financially won't affect you).

Yelp
QUICKIE REVIEW Have to love that beach view. Even better if you come during the summer. PARKING Yes and no. There is free parking connected to the hotel but it is limited. They do have street parking and a valet option. SERVICE Did not use any services. ROOM Nice room with a solid beach view. If you are looking to set a romantic scene, cannot beat waves crashing on the beach, even at night. Bonus, if you love people watching, you have a premium view. PRICE Over $200 but considering all rooms are suites, not bad. OTHER THOUGHTS Beware the rooms that say partial view. They are true to their word about seeing the ocean, partially that is.

Yelp
The views at this hotel are for sure beautiful- however this hotel has many flaws. The pathetic 12x12 pool, tiny jacuzzi. The BLARING air conditioning units make it sound like there are helicopters around the property at all times. I expected a lot for an autograph hotel property...this hotel is not up to that standard. The towels at Hampton inn are nicer than the ones here! Now let's talk about service, and why you should save your money or at least spend it at a Hilton property than spending it at this hotel. My boyfriends mother was kind enough to get us a room here for his birthday- when she went to check in, she went to check out the room and the wall was vibrating, the air conditioning units in the hotel were THAT NOISY. She went down to the lobby, and said that wasn't going to work. They gave another room, 316. It was still noisy but at least the walls weren't shaking. When we went to the room, we settled in (as expected) and were rudely awaken at 12AM to someone trying to get in the room. Several times. My boyfriend went to the door and told him this room was occupied. The guest obviously went downstairs and that's when I got to meet my nice friend John (if you continue reading you'll learn this is extremely facetious). John is supposedly the night shift manager who came knocking on the door again, 10 minutes later. When my boyfriend opened up the door again John shoved his way into the room and asked if my boyfriends mother was there (since her name was on the room as she was the one who booked it). We said no and called her with our phones, and he demanded she call the front desk. What a joke? What difference does it make if she calls there, when he's not even at the front desk to answer! He came to the room planning to instigate problems. He then proceeded to tell us we needed to leave the room. ???!??!?! This comes out of left field after being woken up in the middle of the night. I wasn't trying to cause issues in the middle of the night. Luckily I live in San Diego and planned to iron this out the next day. I yelled through the doorway asking him to please close the door so I could change into my clothes. He then tries to spew off some legal s**t about how he "legally can't close the door" because "our names are not on the room" UMMM. As a male, you can't give a female some privacy after being woken up in the middle of the night to get dressed? Apparently the answer is no, because he proceeded to call the police on us. From reading other reviews, sounds like this is something they have to do frequently because they have absolutely zero service skills and feel it's easier to delegate their issues to imperial beach police department. Talk about lack of class or decency. My boyfriends mother actually owns a condo right next door, and walked over to sort the situation out (thank god she answered the phone at that hour), much better than trying to hash this out over the phone you would think. Wrong. When his mother came to see what the chaos was about, not only did John not let her speak, he gave his worthless, unsolicited option when she handed over her credit card so all of us could go to sleep. He claimed we were belligerent and could not stay at the hotel, as PAYING GUESTS.....I guess a female is not allowed to put some clothes on when getting kicked out of a hotel in the middle of the night. John is the night manager because he's a terrible manager and a terrible person and the only way the general manager in this hotel keeps him employed is by giving him a role with as little least human interaction as possible. Marriott should be embarrassed to employ someone who lacks judgement and professionalism. I went to the top school in the nation for hospitality management with an emphasis in hotel management. John should not only lose his job but should NEVER be allowed to work in the service industry.

Yelp
Love this amazing hotel! 5 star service! One of only a couple hotels on the beach in San Diego! This place is magical I love coming here because of the exceptional service wonderful views and spacious views! Salt water pool with a hot tub love going from in this hotel!

Yelp
I cannot believe Marriott is putting their name on this property. It's dirty, dated, and simply not clean. We arrived to our room and the sink was filled with mud. There was no remote for the tv in the living room. Stains all over the rugs and chairs. The shower and floors were not maintained. I would have not stayed one night if we hadn't arrived later in the evening and we had our child. I'd never go back. The staff was very nice. Only saving grace.

Yelp
Get away from beach crowds farther North. Treat yourself to a staycation. Walk the beach north and the shops when you head back to your hotel. Plenty choices for eating and drinking in the area.

Yelp
This hotel is in serious need of upgrading. It is advertised as a 4-star resort hotel. (maybe when it was new) Everything was very run down. Our heater/air conditioner would not even work. They brought us small space heaters. To top this off they charged a $40 per day resort fee! There is no way this place is or was a resort! We were told that they were in the process of remodeling. That would have been nice to know before I made my reservation. The only bright side of this was the staff. They were great. Hemme was very apologetic. He did what he could to help.

Yelp
First the positive: I really like the ambience, the location, and the views! Staying here was a very lovely experience and I would overall recommend it to others. Now, the negative: I could clearly hear just about everything going on upstairs along with my neighbors to the side of me. Walls seemed to be paperthin. Also, cleanliness could be better. Trash receptacles weren't often emptied and the elevator was very raggedy and slow. Also, housekeeping did not come to our room (in fairness, we didn't request it. Not sure how this policy works at this hotel). Overall, it was a great day. The location interviews alone made it worthwhile

Yelp
****Nice Ocean Views and Comfortable Room**** This is a small boutique hotel but under the Marriot umbrella. The rooms are larger and recently renovated. The best features are the ocean views froom the room, small and not too busy hotel and lobby area and a great restaurant. It is nice to be at a nice beach without the larger crowds you might find at more popular hotels slightly to the north of here. Imperial Beach is a smaller community. You can sleep, relax and enjoy a coffee from a small balcony area or relax on the rooftop. Your views include the ocean, sunsets and you can even see TJ from here. I love the fact that the hotel has a very good restaurant. Service is really good and there is a small town vibe going on here. Street parking is easy, free and safe or you can use their valet. Overall, I am a fan. Nice getaway spot to rest and relax. Prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
Excellent location right on Imperial Beach with beach access. My experience here was not so great. Upon check in they didn't give us the room we were hoping for so the next morning I worked with Gabby who was fantastic and tried her best to accommodate us. She moved us the next day to an oceanfront suite but the room had 2 double beds which was not ideal. So the next day they moved us again to an oceanfront king suite which was perfect. The rooms are spacious and has a very nautical beachy airy vibe which I like. But the hotel is a bit dated and needs some TLC. The beds weren't that comfortable and the towels we got were frayed. So these little things kept adding up to not living up to the expectations we were hoping for. But the views and sounds of the ocean waves were worth it.

Yelp
Great place to escape to! I love the beach front rooms and find them large, thoughtfully arranged, and very comfortable. I would go back. Very polite and helpful staff! Thank you.

Yelp
RUN DOWN, RUDE, and over priced! I don't know how they can have a 3 1/2 star rating with all of the negative reviews. Rooms are filthy, elevator never worked and you can't even get into the restaurant without reservations way in advance! Valet service was rude and had done damage to guests car checking out in front of us. Pool was cloudy and disgusting! They ran out of pool towels by 9am and wouldn't allow us to use room towels so had to go out and purchase beach towels. No room service! So sad as we have been staying there for years. Everything has gone downhill and the price has skyrocketed!!!

Yelp
Location for the hotel is right on the beach! The customer service is great. Eateries across the street are great convenience for take out (pizza, authentic hot dogs, thai) but... The rooms are in desperate need of an overhaul. We can hear the people next door and especially the ones above our room. We hear them walking back and forth, thump thump thump and showering. Every time someone's door closes, it makes a loud boom noise. Light sleepers be warned!! The furnitures reminds me of grandma's. The bathrooms are out dated and needs a good remodeling. I hate and love this little hotel!! For +$500/night don't know if it's worth it anymore. This is our fifth and maybe final stay?

Yelp
The biggest problem this place has, sadly, is that it's marketed and advertised as a 4-star Resort hotel when in reality it is more like an upscale motel. TLDR: Pros: Good service. Friendly Staff Cons: Everything else To start with when we arrived the "hotel" is not in a good area. Yes it's on the beach but it's surrounded by construction and vagrants. After going in we checked in and the elevator up to the 4th floor was very dusty and dirty. The doors to enter the rooms are also outdoors and the surface of the property you can see from the balcony is very dirty. After entering our room we noticed the room was very spacious but it was worn down and dirty. The paint was chipping in many places. The floor was creaking in spots and we had to clean the whole room with lysol wipes because it wasn't clean. One other upside is it has a very nice shower in the bathroom. After a few moments we realized the A/C is not working and it's 80 degrees in the room. We call the front desk and they tell us we need to move rooms. We move to the next door room and have to clean the whole room again because it's also dirty. We also lost the nice shower as the room they moved us to did not have the nice shower but we didn't want to move again. The A/C in the 2nd room works better but still not great. The lowest it goes is 76 degrees and we need to keep the fans in the room on. The next problem is the wifi and TV do not work properly. We try using Netflix and it is very slow and barely loads and certain channels on the TV just don't play. There is also bird poop all over the glass on the balcony and the view from the balcony has a nice view of all the vagrants and construction, although thankfully you can see a bit of the beach. All together all these multiple problems add up to just an overall bad experience and NOT what you expect from a 4-star Resort. I would not even complain if it was labeled as a 3 star location and half the price. I'm not sure what standards are used to calculate their 4 star rating but it definitely needs to be reviewed. Thankfully the staff was nice and tried their best to help but they couldn't do much.

Yelp
Review for end of august 8-26-8-28 room 420 4th floor. Let me just start by saying I had excited to stay at this hotel being so close to the beach but unfortunately things didn't go that way let me start from the beginning. We go to check in around 4 PM to find out their Internet is down So they can't give us a room key we put our bags in our room with the help of one of the staff and they took us to the top floor for happy hour which was fine and when we wanted to go downstairs obviously we need someone's help to get an elevator because you can't do that without a key. Fast forward four hours later we still don't have a key to our room, we can literally can not get in the elevator without anyone's assistance or leave our room knowing we can't get back in unless someone helps us get back in almost felt like we were intruders in our own hotel & considering I paid $400 something a night it was very upsetting. I went downstairs again around 8 PM to find out oh guess what the internets working most, and here's your key after I had come down to ask for the second time. There was also a problem with the AC in the room & they did have someone come and check it and it was cooler probably around 10 PM. There was also a weird smell in the room I think the best way to describe it as a kind of mildew smell. My husband was really bothered by it I told the staff and they told me no one complained about it before so I felt like they were kind of diminishing our concerns. However we proceeded on and the next day we went on a fishing trip in the morning and then we went to dinner at the hotel restaurant which was a nice Atmosphere and experience. Overall I was disappointed with above issues of checking in & the staff was trying to be helpful but it was just the overall frustration of the situation, and especially since it was my husband's birthday it just kind of ruined the vibe. We stayed at a Hilton hotel for the last night in San Diego and let me just say it was such a better vibe, service, smell and ambience all together. This hotel is a great location and has lots of shops nearby and the ocean it's just steps away which I love but unfortunately considering all the problems that we encountered we will not return to this property. I am a Marriott member and have traveled to several locations even out of the country and I've never been this disappointed to date with my experience In Marriott hotels, I gave them two stars because the staff was nice and the restaurant was good and location was nice. But the room smell, the AC problems and the lack of hotel key for several hours really ruined it for me

Yelp
This place hands down is the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. The staff was gracious, overwhelmed, and underpaid, the location on the beach very good. But the hotel itself was filthy , Dilapidated and a nightmare of deferred maintenance. We paid $1475 for 2 nights trusting the Marriott Bonvoy experiences we had at other "upscale"Marriott venues. This particular hotel is owned by Pacifica and they either can't afford to keep the property up or not likely too cheap to do so.

Yelp
This hotel was amazing. Great service, the restaurant in the hotel had amazing food. And the workers were very nice

Yelp
First of all the pictures online are deceiving. This hotel is nothing like what you see in the pictures and 100% not worth the price. The rooms are somewhat dirty and a lot of things are broken. From drawer handles to showers that's haven't been cleaned properly in months. They have a full bar and restaurant on premises but if your not eating there on the weekends they don't have the staff to operate it. How is it possible that you have guest but nobody working the restaurant or bar. We were a party of four in two rooms and it was just as bad for the other couple that came with us. The only thing good about this resort is Ivan who was excellent but aside from that stay away. We've stayed in a thousand hotels and this one was by far the worse one.

Larry S.

Yelp
This use to be one of our favorite get-a-way places but our recent visit is causing us to say goodbye to the hotel. Checked in on Sunday and found out internet was down and would be back up by 6:00 PM but it wasn't . As I followed up with the front desk I was told that they don't have anyone on-site on the weekends to fix the problem so we'd have to wait for Monday. Here it is 5:00 on Monday afternoon and it's still down. Second the sliding bedroom door was broken and still unfixed. The sink was clogged and this was fixed this morning. I've logged more than. 1500 hotel hotel nights and I have never seen a hole in a sheet. We'll, that's gone. Sheet has big hole . Bedroom was never made up today. And last, the door leading from the pool to the beach broken and once you leave you can't get back in that way. I'm just shocked at the overall condition of the hotel. It's almost like the owner of the property is trying to sell and doesn't want to invest in any upkeep at this time.

Yelp
We enjoyed our six night stay at Pier South Resort. It has a relaxed, open feel appropriate to the beach environment. The suites are spacious, with a balcony, sitting area, bath and bedroom. Ours faced toward the pool, beach and the park next door. Facing away from the beach is a second floor patio that is protected from the sea breeze, nice on a cool day. The hotel has another patio on the rooftop, with views of the beach and town. The hotel was designed to lessen its environmental impact. There are large solar panel arrays visible from both the second floor and rooftop patios. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. As of March 2022, weekday dine-in breakfast options are rather limited within walking distance of the hotel. Monday through Friday the restaurant in the hotel is take-out only until 11:30 AM. Katy's cafe, 2 blocks north, opens early, but is more of a counter-order place offering mainly coffee, beverages and breakfast sandwiches, with two small tables inside and a few picnic tables outside. Aranda's Cafe, 667 Silver Strand Blvd, is under half a mile away, opens at 7 AM every day, has a few small tables inside and covered seating outside. El Tapatio, right in front of Aranda's, (and in the same family) opens a bit earlier. Millport, 775 13th Street, is over a mile and a half away, opens at 8 AM Wednesday through Sunday and has outdoor seating only. The town of Imperial Beach is very mellow, not as crowded or noisy as some other beach communities in the San Diego area. There are a few small shops and restaurants near the beach, but there are also still a number of interesting small beach cottages with unique artwork and beautiful plantings. Lots of local bicyclists take advantage of the flat terrain. The Imperial Beach Pier provides views of sea birds circling, locals fishing, and surfers searching for the perfect wave. Walk down the beach south of the pier, past the southwestern most residence in the continental United States, next to an estuary wildlife refuge, to the Tijuana River where you can look another mile south into the city of Tijuana, if you don't mind the constantly circling helicopters overhead. Palm Avenue runs from the beach inland, and has the larger stores and services. A few blocks north of Palm Avenue is the Bayshore Bikeway (more like a bicycle freeway IMHO). Just past the bikeway is another natural area with more views of wildlife in the south end of San Diego Bay.
