We traveled to the area and had a family dinner. The ambiance is phenomenal. Gorgeous view of the Cleveland skyline, jet skiers, and boaters enjoying a beautiful day on the lake. It may be time to think about replacing the carpet as it is starting to show wear. Thw decor is slightly dated, but again, the view is the focal point. There is a live piano player, and the music is pleasant and relaxing.
The pacing was initially pretty good. Our server had hickies/passion marks on her neck. A little concealer would have done the trick, but I guess not. Most of the workers were friendly. The pace slowed down significantly as the meal progressed.
Our appetizers were delivered promptly, and everyone enjoyed them. I ordered the Cheebooktook oysters. They came with cocktail sauce, hot sauce, and a mango/cucumber salsa (they call it mignonette). The oysters were extremely fresh! They were tender and tasty with or without dressing.
Our entrees took a little longer than we anticipated to arrive, but the restaurant was filling up, so that is to be expected. The presentation was gorgeous. I ordered the jumbo sea scallops. It came with black rice and mini squash. I got four very lightly seasoned scallops. They had a strange texture, rubbery, but not tough. I've never had scallops with such a texture, especially not at this price point. I LOVE black rice, but this was inedible. It was cold, grainy, and undercooked. The vegetables were tender-crisp and lightly seasoned as well. I liked the vegetables the best out of everything on my plate. My husband ordered the ribeye. Don't do that. It was a thin-cut steak, a little tough, and seemed fresh out of the Flavor-Vac™. Everyone else ordered the walleye. They also said their food was virtually flavorless. One even said he's had better meals at Red Lobster, and I agree. The cheesecake seems like store-bought, frozen, factory-processed, and decorated by the restaurant. The candied bananas were a nice touch. The butter cake was heavenly! Order this if you have time to wait, and wait, and wait for your dessert.
I would go back for the view and appetizers. I'm not sure if the problem is the quality of ingredients or the chef's skill-level. I'm not usually one to be concerned about price when it comes to fine dining; however, I don't think the value of this meal is in line with the price. We paid for the view.
