"The brainchild of Pierre Gagnaire, whose nickname is ‘the Picasso of the kitchen’. Of all Gagnaire’s eponymous restaurants worldwide, the Tokyo iteration on a high floor of a high-rise is perhaps the closest to heaven. With striking views of Tokyo Tower, the big-city ambience is unmistakeable. The chef expresses Gagnaire’s culinary vision through the prism of Japan’s seasons. On a canvas of white dishes, the chef draws in bright colours." - Michelin Inspector

It was a great dinner overall. While I have experienced more exceptional dishes in the past, the food was still very good. What truly stood out, however, was the impeccable presentation, the inviting atmosphere, and the attentive service, which elevated the entire experience.

OCT 2024 Visited for lunch with a reservation and had the Apinac menu. The course started off with some amuse bouche followed by five small appetizers and three kinds of bread. There was nice variety of flavors experienced in a short span of time; very enjoyable. The appetizer that followed was an oyster dish with beetroot sauce and comte cheese which was also tasty. For mains, the Kinmedai fish and the duck meat dish both have a small side dish to pair with. The Kinmedai was pretty good; as for the duck the sweetness of the sauce was slightly overpowering and presentation was not the best. Desserts were ok, not to my liking. Service was great; the staffs were friendly and explains all the dishes in detail.

We booked this two Michelin star restaurant for lunch because of the fusion dining with French and Japanese flavours. Our maître D was welcoming, kind and multilingual and all the staff were brilliant! We met the chef and he and our Japanese guests had a splendid conversation. From the first amusement bouche to our birthday cake for my wife, it was stunning. The taste explosions in our mouths from the food superb! Great views over Tokyo tower. A marvellous experience well worth the cost!

Beautifully presented dishes with a great view especially if you're seated near the window. The service was also pleasant. A memorable place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions.

Wine pairing price = 18,000 JP Yen ($115 USD) Value (retail) = $62 Markup = 180% 🤩🤩🤩 This ranks as one of the best 4th best value for a wine pairing out of 60 pairings analyzed. It might be related to how the US dollar is doing compared to Japanese yen, though all wine poured was French and I'd imagine the yen being weak also to the Euro dollar makes the French wine expensive to buy. Notably the markup on a couple spot checked bottles was excessive. The 2022 Saumur L'Insolite de Roches Neuves is $23 Euro in France and 16,159 yen or 95 Euro (413%). I'm sure there are some gems in there, because the menu is long and mostly French, but wanted to share this random observation (attached a pic just one page of the wine list if you want to do more math). For the pairing, pours included: Ruinart blanc de blanc N/V Guilhem & Jean-Hugues Goisot Saint-Bris La Ronce 2019 Hebinger Pfersigberg Vin Naturel Sec 2018 (topped it off) Marc Brédif Grande Année Vouvray 1990 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Aux Chezeaux 2017 Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Chassagne-Montrachet 2020 E. Guigal Chateau d'Ampuis Cote Rotie ? Generally the service was good. Pacing and timing were great. A few frustrating observations 1 - I complimented how gorgeous the view was and the server made a joke that I was the one table without a view of the Tokyo Tower 🤷 2 - The server taking my order asked if I could drink a lot when I ordered the wine pairing (I was a female dining alone and I didn't hear him ask this to the female next to me who was dining with a male date). 3 - Generally I felt they didn't know how to handle a woman dining on their own. They were almost tiptoeing around me not sure if they entertain me or leave me alone. 4 - The pours at the neighboring table (previously mentioned) were noticably larger and they several received refills for what appeared to be the same tasting. Other notes: - This sounds untrue even as I type it, but every time I saw them pour a glass of Ruinart it seemed to be from a brand new bottle. I had a brand new bottle and thought maybe I was the first person to get a pairing that night. Less then 10 minutes later, at the table next to me, when the woman arrived it looked like they opened up a new one. When her date arrived 5 minutes after that, another pour from a full bottle. They each had a refill at different times, once where they opened the bottle at the table so I thought they might have just ordered it, but no, they were just topping her glass off. - The server from France (manager? he didn't seem assigned to any one table, but also wasn't the somm AFAIK) went out of his way to discuss the ingredients of the dish in detail with me after I tasted something and wanted to know more, not afraid to tell me how wrong I was (in a nice way), which I appreciated. The food was exquisite. The sauces were top notch and made every dish shine. I'd recommend visiting this place if you'd like a nice meal in Tokyo. The food was excellent and the pairing was as well. Ambiance also an A+.

Google
This restaurant is perfect. The food, drink, service, view, atmosphere, location is amazing. Michelin two star French cuisine Set Menu request and reservation only Went for lunch course many creative dishes and flavors. I never expected certain combinations of foods would create such wonderful flavors! No matter how small the portions looked, my wife could not breathe and eat on the second hot one. The staff is amazing and courteous with a great sense of humor. I'm not going to describe what we tried, for sure you will have a different menu and in any case, it's beyond words. you need to try it yourself!) If you want to have an amazing experience with someone you care, take him/her to this place.

We came here for our 9 year anniversary. We paid extra for the window table and it the view was totally worth it! I booked through tablecheck and it was pretty smooth booking the dinner. The food and service was fantastic! They explained in detail what each part of the course was and where it ca me from. Truly a wonderful dining experience!

Yelp
Service was excellent. We were seated by the window with a view of Tokyo Bay so that was really nice. The food overall was very good. The appetizer dish was lovely - the ume cracker was interesting. Loved the oyster, shrimp, and adamai dishes. I thought the desserts were a bit underwhelming in taste - too tart or had some weird tastes.

Yelp
What an impeccable meal at Pierre Gagnaire! We reserved a table via TableCheck and requested table with view of Tokyo Tower (since some tables face windows away from it) and they delivered! We opted for the Apinac and were blown away by the presentation, the flavor and the story telling from the knowledgeable staff behind each dish. We have been to other Michelin restaurants before and this was one of our favorite meals. Unpretentious, just beautiful, delicious food.

Yelp
What a wonderful and exquisite lunch! The dishes were so delicious. We savored each bite as they laid it in front of us. It was beautifully displayed. The food were in the French style but using local Japanese ingredients. The service was just as exquisite. I felt like we were in Paris but we were in a hotel and you can see Tokyo Tower. Thanks to my niece and nephew we were able to experience this fabulous meal. I can't find anymore adjectives to describe it.

Yelp
This is no doubt the best dining experience I have ever had . Each dish is the combination of east and west style . They would use the Japanese spice or fish in their French cousin . I had scallop colored with beet root , and also fish with smoky asparagus . Love them both . All in all , highly recommend this restaurant , especially their lunch set , only ¥5000 . Can see the view from 36F ,including Tokyo tower .

Yelp
Came here to celebrate New Year's Eve with a quiet delicious dinner. I was not disappointed. The food was outstanding. The ingredients worked so well together. I enjoyed every single bite. The service was excellent as well and as I don't like wine, I asked if they had sake. They did not but were able to get me sake anyway from the bar next to the restaurant. My favorite was probably the Japanese beef. But everything was excellent. The views of the city are really nice as well.

Yelp
Wonderful views of Tokyo nicely complement the amazing food. Each course was a feast for the mouth and the wine pairings were superb. The timing of the presentations was perfect: we were never rushed and there were no lengthy delays. Service was fantastic and the ambiance was excellent. Overall, a phenomenal experience!
