Where To Drink Before Ending Up At Wawa At 2am - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Some nights require a plan like you’re George Clooney in Ocean’s 11 and are about to rob an impenetrable casino. But the rest of the time, you just want the easiest option possible. On those nights, go to Porta. Over the course of a night, it evolves from a fun dinner spot to a full-on club. One minute, you’re sharing a pepperoni pizza with your three closest friends, and the next you’re out on the dance floor, sending someone you just met to go pick you up a drink from any of the three bars that are scattered throughout the huge space." - Sydney Mcelwee

Where To Eat And Drink During A Snowstorm - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Porta is the largest restaurant in the whole city, so instead of spending your day cooped up in your 600-square-foot apartment, go get some pizza here and spend the day bar hopping between their three separate bars without having to put your parka on to change locations." - Sydney Mcelwee

A Perfect Spot for a Special Celebration We recently celebrated my sister’s birthday at Pietro’s Italian, and from start to finish, it was a fantastic experience. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish felt like it was made with love. The pizza had that perfect crispy crust with fresh, flavorful toppings, the pasta was rich and comforting, and even the salads stood out with fresh ingredients and bold dressings. The ambiance was lively and welcoming—perfect for a celebration. There’s a great energy in the space, full of warmth, conversation, and that classic Italian charm. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure the birthday girl felt extra special. Whether you're planning a celebration or just in the mood for a hearty Italian meal, Pietro’s delivers across the board. We left full, happy, and already talking about coming back again soon.

Adding drinks gets pricey. Pizza was good. Meatballs were ok. We were celebrating my wife’s bday and they brought a candle with her dessert without making a huge commotion which was great. Our server was amazing and very accommodating.

Been waiting 6 months to try Pietro’s and I was not disappointed. I invited 6 friends to enjoy some delicious Italian food. The indoor atmosphere was pretty solid even though it felt stuffy at times because of the heat coming from the coal fire oven. Pietro’s is a good place to go out with friends, a date night, or anything in between. Now on to our server, both the waiter and waitress were very nice and were very attentive. Side note I found this hilarious we were surrounded by so many water cups that we lost track of whose water was which. Now on to the food, the food was authentic Italian food and very filling and very well made. The margarita pizza had the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese and the pizza was perfectly crisp. Also my friend gave me some of her kale salad. The salad was not overly dressed and had a good amount of apples slices; solid salad overall. We struggled on finishing our food, but had no issues finishing the wine. I personally love being around good friends, sharing stories, not stressing out about life, and just living in the moment. Life is to short not to meet people and have a great time. We were all dying to know what was serve with the bread. Guesses we through out (hummus, mustard, or grounded up saltine cracker). Maybe one day we will get the recipe of that spread, but in the meantime I’m going to continue enjoying being with love one and friends!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pietro’s Coal Oven Pizza – Truly Fire! 🔥🍕 Hands down one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had in Philly! Pietro’s brings the heat — literally — with their coal-fired oven that gives every pie the perfect crispy-yet-chewy crust and that slightly smoky flavor that just hits different. We ordered a few different pizzas, but the Margherita was the absolute standout. Fresh mozzarella, tangy tomato sauce, and fragrant basil — simple, classic, and absolutely delicious. The crust had just the right char, and the sauce-to-cheese ratio was on point. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The place has a cozy, lively atmosphere with great service to match. Whether you're dining in or grabbing a pie to go, you can’t go wrong here. If you’re in Philly and craving real coal-fired pizza, Pietro’s is a must-try. Trust me, it’s fire. 🔥

My boyfriend and I had the worst takeout ever from this place. Our order arrived 40 minutes late and contained mussels that were lukewarm at best so we didn’t even dare to eat them for fear of food poisoning. To make matters even worse, the cold pizza we received clearly had been sitting around for a while and had been made with old, cheap mozzarella. We could have done better with frozen, store bought. It was so clumpy and crusty, and the basil had wilted altogether. Don’t waste your money like we did. Disgusting and shameful.

Google
I was surprised to find out they haven't been on a TV show - this pizza and place is beautifully done. I make pizza myself and this is the good stuff, euro-american style!

Decided to try Pietro's and was not disappointed. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. We were seated outside against the glass and we were able to people watch and just enjoy the ambiance.

Google
Great food and better service! We got cauliflower bites and a short rib pizza and it was amazing. Service was very attentive and quick even when they were really busy.

Yelp
We had a large party (of 10) and service by Vilma was outstanding (5 stars for Vilma!!!). Food here is solid - I enjoyed the Fettucine Cielo with chicken and shrimp - but it was heavily sauced (even when I asked for it light on the sauce). Pizza Margarita was delicious and hot out of the oven. Good strong drinks. Delicious Chocolate Mousse for dessert. A fun evening.

Yelp
- Service: Seem understaffed to me or our server was just forgetful and not attentive enough. - Ambiance: Pretty dark inside so that's why my photos are just meh here. I feel like it's gonna be loud and difficult to talk if this place gets packed. However, clean and nice setting. - Food: + Complimentary was good. I learned this dip from my boyfriend that goes well with any type of bread: olive oil, balsamic, oregano, parmesan, chili flakes, and oregano. Fried Calamari was decent. Nice batter and they cooked the squid just perfectly. I like to have my calamari with salt & pepper and lemon, so I cannot speak for the marinara sauce it came with. + We ordered Short Ribs and Barese. The Short Rib was nice, but the Barese was too salty to me! It could probably because of the sausage they put on, but I just cannot finish one slice. The pizzas were just okay for me, didn't have anything particular to impress or make me crave for it in the future. I don't think I will come back.

Yelp
I've had my fair share of excellent mussel dishes in my lifetime, but I must say that the one at Pietro's had me floored. I don't know what magic they used in their recipe, but the mussels there were among the plumpest and juiciest I've ever had. At first, I thought they must've been undercooked, but that was far from the case. The broth the mussels were served in was also very well balanced, which makes the entire dish oh-so-delish. Aside from the mussels, I'm also a huge fan of their meatballs, spicy calamari and sausage, and Barese pizza. I don't know if I was overwhelmed with hunger, but everything tasted amazing. Even the complementary dinner rolls served before our meals were nicely warmed as if they were freshly baked from the oven. I'd highly recommend going there for food with family and friends, since the homely ambience is perfect for a casual get-together.

Yelp
I've been going here since 2008, and this place has not changed one bit! located in the heart of city it is easy to get too. The menu has a ton of amazing options from salads, pizza, and pasta. They have outdoor seating, a bar area and a fancier seating area in the back. The service was fast and the food was great. It has been a staple in philly and I highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times. It's always always busy. I like the family feel to the place. I think the food here is pretty good. Everyone I've gone w likes it better than I do. This past time I got lobster ravioli. It was meh. My friend got a penne vodka and it was very comforting and yummy. The wine was alright. I'd go back cause the food is good enough and the atmosphere feels kinda like grandmas.

Yelp
We tried this place for the first time this past week and it was good! Enjoyed the food - service was ok hence the 4 stars! Branzino was superb and the pizza was good.

Yelp
Well it's my favorite! Sam always goes above and beyond! The food is fantastic the service is fabulous! Try everything! I love the mussels Pizza and everything! Ask for Sam!

Yelp
Really good food! For apps we got the risotto balls and those were really good. For mains we got the pizza and that was actually really yum. The medium is also pretty big and would recommend getting that. We also got the eggplant Parmesan and that was a bit of a miss. The eggplant pieces were deep fried and really greasy with too much marinara sauce and cheese on it. I couldn't eat more than half a piece. However there was also some pasta on the side which was nice. Really nice ambience and great service too.

Yelp
Nothing we didn't like here: service was friendly and prompt, and we left feeling well- cared for. Food was delicious! Loved the Barese pizza and the Violeta cocktail was superb. Don't leave before having the cannoli! Charming building with indoor and outdoor seating. Updated building that kept its original charm.

Yelp
I have not been in this area lately, but Pietro's is my go to establishment when I am. A dear friend of mine spoke of the Open Street (Walnut) that's taking place on Sunday's the month of September. Pietro's had the nice outdoor setup and is open Sunday's with great food, nice portions, cost-effective, group/work and family friendly. Another extremely important note regarding Pietro's is that they are always evolving with new menu items and very mindful and accommodating to those with dietary restrictions. My experience yesterday afternoon confirms the feeling of comfort knowing you can eat without fear of an allergic reaction. "Vilma" was absolutely fantastic! I shared my allergies with her and provided our order shortly after. "Vilma returned to clarify allergy regarding one food, when that is actually a sensitivity. She just wanted to make sure!!! A little kindness and compassion goes so far, Especially when it comes to food allergies/sensitivities and one's life. Vilma also demonstrated empathy having a loved one with a food allergy. My Girlfriend ordered a medium Pizza with Spinach. I ordered Calamari which is battered in just flour (no egg wash/allergic) with Marinara. We shared Truffle Fries but the Parmesan cheese was on the side for her because I do not eat dairy. We each had a Passion Down East. This was truly a nice Lady's afternoon out Lunch. Thanks again Vilma and Pietro's Team!

Yelp
This is a great Italian spot with coal fired delicious pizza. Crust was crispy, sauce flavorful and cheese was fresh. Interior is nice as well. Solid place to try out with lots of options.

Yelp
The chicken in this dish was so moist which was shocking since it was chicken breast. The shrimp were enormous! The sauce was very tasty and filling. We arrived right when the restaurant was opening so the bread was fresh and hot (not warm!). There was a lot of variety in the menu which I appreciated. Can't wait to come back. Service was good; very quick and easy.
google avatar

Yelp
Stick to pizza and salad! We had a group of 23 including kids. They did a great job helping everyone. 5 stars for service. The apps, salads and pizzas were delicious. I'd be back for those. Skip the salmon, entrees, and pastas. No one was impressed with those. Highlight- the Siciliana salad was delicious! I'd go back to sit at the cute bar on a date!
google avatar

Kristi P.

Yelp
It's a cute Italian place on Walnut. Bread was not good but their pizza was very good! Hubby also got some soup. We were there for lunch & they had $8 mimosas which is a pretty good deal for the city. Our server was fine - not overly attentive but not awful either.

Yelp
We were in the Philadelphia area and heard about the tasty pizza this place has so I had to try it. I'm so glad i did. The inside has beautiful decor. It was between lunch and dinner so the place was a little empty. i can see how it can get busy. Plenty of street/nearby meter parking. The calamari was tasty. The pizza was good. I'll be back.

Yelp
Simply the best margherita pizza I have ever had. Perfect balance of cheese and sauce. Love the added basil garnish on top. Very delicious crispy yet soft crust that I love to dip in some olive oil and black pepper. A large on DoorDash pick up costs about 30 bucks, so I try to order sparingly. But I can't help it. Whenever I'm in the area I HAVE to pick up a box.

Yelp
Walking down Walnut street a few weeks ago, we noticed diners outside happily noshing on fantastic-looking pizzas. So today we stopped in to check out their Margherita pizza and have to say it's currently the best example of true Neapolitan pizza in this area, which is to say the crust is wonderful-- lightly crispy on the outside and chewy inside. The flavors of the individual ingredients are all represented: basil, ripe tomatoes, and the perfect amount of mozzarella. Service was excellent; our order was taken promptly and we only had to wait a few minutes for the pizza. The ambiance is also wonderful, with a wide choice of seating options for any size of party. We were happy to get seated right away despite nearby restaurants like Parc having a two-hour wait for a party of two.

Yelp
I went to Pietro's recently after a few years and I got to say that I had a great time. That staff was super friendly and got my party of 6 seated quickly. And our server quickly attended to us. For apps we had ordered fired mozzarella and truffle fries. The mozzarella were hot and crispy and the truffle fires had a perfect truffle flavor. Shortly after our entrees came out I had gotten the Rigatoni Bolognese and a few people for the chicken parm and chicken Marsala. The Rigatoni Bolognese was great everything you expected a Rigatoni Bolognese to be. It was meaty and hearty. Everyone else said their food was good as well. I will definitely start going here more often.
google avatar

Lorenzo D.

Yelp
We got seated instantly on a day where every other pub had at least an hourlong wait. The complimentary bread was good and came with an herby, lemony butter. Their mussels with white wine sauce were the best I've ever had. The barese pizza, pictured, was delicious. The Californian Pinot Grigio we had was good as well. Given the price, the portions were pretty generous. Ambience was a bit rowdy but expected given that it was the day before the Super Bowl. Very pleasant waitress. I'd be happy to come back again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Marilyn M.

Yelp
Delicious pizza and awesome salads. Great service. I highly recommend! We come here when we are in Philly.
google avatar

Sophie T.

Yelp
I'm from out of town so this was my first time here (out of 4 people) and we all loved it! I ordered the chicken parm (good ole reliable in my book) and it was delicious. We also ordered a round of drinks with our dinner and those came out super quick. Great atmosphere inside. They have 2 levels of seating and on the "top floor" I loved how they have fake-looking walls and windows to make it feel and look like you're in a quaint pizza shop in Italy. Super clean and attentive staff with good eats. Would definitely come back!!

Jane M.

Yelp
This restaurant brings us back every visit to Philly with its warm, unrushed atmosphere and delicious food! We always have trouble choosing what to get from the many offerings! We ordered a Italian ham pizza and meatballs. The thin crispy crust pizza with puffy edges tasted great, with just the right balance of cheese and ham. We also enjoyed the 4 saucy meatballs that were nicely seasoned. Our waitress didn't rush us even though we came an hour before closing. A great evening!

Brendan F.

Yelp
Now let me tell you a thing or two about pizza. Pietros does it right. The margherita pizza is the best in all of philadelphia. My girlfriend love going and sitting in their cozy atmosphere. Never had a bad experience with the service. Everyone has to go!!!
google avatar

Private P.

Yelp
The way the staff responded to the pickup of my food was shocking. I'm pretty sure they gave me an old pizza.... moving forward, I'lll never eat here. Neither will my family or friends.
google avatar

Jen R.

Yelp
It was fine. The crust, is way too thick. That's just my personal preference. I do enjoy establishments where I am able to die alone somewhat secluded so I can read and I did appreciate I was able to do that.
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
Penne vodka was the best for sure and the mozzarella squares were really good. Honestly 10/10 everything was amazing def go here after a night out if you really wanna enjoy it.

Yelp
I had a very unpleasant experience at Pietro's during my last visit. I love this place for its amazing decor and food so my partner and I decided to have a nice dinner for our anniversary. We made a reservation in advance and got dressed nicely for the occasion. Upon arrival, we were placed in a 2 seated table right next to the podium where you talk to the hostesses. After being bumped by hostesses going back and forth, I asked to move to a different table. However, the hostess states that there were no other tables available despite there being many 2 seaters on both levels of the restaurant. This would have been ok with me if maybe others had reserved tables, but being right next to where people come in I saw more than 2 duos with no reservation come in and be seated in a better position. The food was great and server came around a good amount, but just wanted to share my negative experience with the seating as I really love this place, but don't want this to happen to me or anyone else.
google avatar

Jon B.

Yelp
Stopped in for the second night in a row for a seat at the bar. Authentic vibe. People walking by outside exclaiming "I love Pietro's!" Warm greeting by the host and attentive service at the bar. Check it out if you're in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Looking for delicious Italian food in the vicinity of Rittenhouse Square, PA, then you've come to the right place. This is a welcoming casual place with great service and nice ambiance that won't break the bank. You'll leave happy and satisfied (and maybe some to enjoy later if you can't finish it all). We all tried different lunch specials (chicken risotto, chicken pesto sandwich, and salmon fettuccine; the menu had something for everyone. Granted we were hungry, the rolls were hot out of the oven and yummy! All our choices were delicious. Check this place out, you'll be glad you did.

Caitlin T.

Yelp
This place was AMAZING! We started with a margarita pizza as an appetizer and it was DELISH! The rigatoni alla vodka was so good, I added shrimp as my protein which I highly recommend. The restaurant was decorated super cute for Christmas and it was nice how the tables were far enough away you didn't feel crammed in to the people next to you. Our server was very nice answering all of our questions, checking in on us every so often and making sure our waters were always full!

M K.

Yelp
A lovely place to meet friends and family and hang out while enjoying pizzas and beers. We drove up from Washington DC to meet up with friends just for lunch on a weekend. We arrived early and got our table and the rest of our 15 strong party trickled in over the next hour. Most other places would start getting antsy about us placing our orders while we waited for everyone to get there, but the Pietro's staff was very chill, even as we got a little raucous being that some of us were meeting after 30+ years. They didn't mind that we sometimes got in their way either. Moving on to the food, the complimentary bean dip was unexpected, but a good initial accompaniment for our beer, and everything we ordered for our mixed party of vegetarians and non-vegetarians was really good. Stuck to the beers on this trip and enjoyed a couple from their lineup. I give them five stars for service, food, and general ambiance and goodness of the place.
google avatar

Justina B.

Yelp
Went for a friends birthday. Had reservation for 8 people. I definitely recommend a reservation, as tables are hot!! Definitely an energetic ambiance- erring on the side of loud. Love the interior and I felt like I was in Italy. Excellent service, very good food. Would come again. Everyone was celebrating birthdays too!
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
Holy Heck great pizza, and great bathrooms too, especially in the winter! We went as a group and the service was spectacular, the pizzas were amazing, and we were in an out in a reasonable amount of time for lunch. The bathrooms must be right next to the pizza ovens as it was so warm and cozy inside. Probably not the best in the summer, but on a cool day, it's worth a trip to warm your cockles.
google avatar

Kristin C.

Yelp
Came here for lunch today with my coworkers. Group of 7. We had a great discussion at our table and I thank the restaurant for placing us at a table where we could have an effective business meeting. The food was also very delicious. The one thing I'm upset about is our bill. I had asked our waitress if we could split the bill 7 ways, thinking we could pay for what we ordered. She said we could, but then at the end gave us one check and told us she could only split it up by dividing the final total 7 ways. This was very unfair for those that ordered an $18 salad, because their final total ended up being $30 before tip. So, for that I'm giving 3 stars for failure to clarify at the start of our meal what would happen. I feel bad for my coworkers who paid for other people's meals, because some of us ordered $35 entree which increased the total bill.
google avatar

Julia Y.

Yelp
Pietro's pizzas are quite good -- I've had the Piccante, which has Capitola ham, provolone, and crushed red pepper, as well as the Pietro, which has smoked mozz, pork prosciutto, and baby arugula. Their must-get pasta is the rigatoni alla vodka, which features a blush sauce with pork pancetta, red onions, and parm. For apps, you can't go wrong with crispy crunchy calamari. This was where I tried an espresso martini for the first time, and it was surprisingly delicious! We got it without the Irish cream, and I think that was the perfect decision. If you come, I would make a reservation. Everything here is perfect for sharing, so make sure to bring some friends along!

Yelp
Wonderful! Huge dining area good for large groups. Thin and crunchy pizza. Everything we had was great as well as the service.

Mimi B.

Yelp
I visited this place with my significant other we ordered Chicken Parmesan and Rigatoni. The chicken parm was very good , he received his rigatoni and stated that he had to add more seasonings to it. Our waitress barely checked on us and we made numerous requests for Parmesan cheese. She never brung it to us so we had to ask another worker. She showed everyone attention but us. We are very disappointed in this and don't think we will ever return.

Kate B.

Yelp
Horrible management . Gave my credit card to another table and charged their meal on my card. Didn't apologize. Will not be coming back

Bj R.

Yelp
What a find! Italian restaurant. Salads were amazing. Pizza awesome. Five of us...One couple shared a lovely salad with shrimp and a 14" pizza. I shared a salad...and pizza with a friend and my husband got his own 16" pizza and it was so much three boxes went home. Service was great. There were many Italian options beyond pizza that looked good but we were looking for pizza and salad. Ambiance was wonderful, warm, friendly. (Only gripe is we are all in our 70's and we couldn't hear each other. To be fair there was a family party of like 25 nearby and it only added to good vibes) Hope I get to come back soon.

Bethany G.

Yelp
Awesome experience. Food was a 10! They have a roasted vegetable appetizer that is so amazing and delicious- hope they never change it! Demarus (our waitress) was super attentive but never over bearing. Wines by the glass were great and the food was awesome. Cannot recommend enough- seated outside and will definitely recommend.
google avatar

Stephany G.

Yelp
Deliciously creamy fettuccine, a heavenly delight at Pietro's Coal Oven Pizzeria! Simply divine!

Kathy G.

Yelp
Wonderful experience - delicious food and great service! Loved the grilled vegetable appetizer and eggplant Parmesan....

Yelp
Solid pizza choice really enjoy the margarita or pepperoni pizzas. They l,be come along way with her pasta and food options. The rigatoni with vodka sauce, or the rigatoni Bolognese sauce don' are both solid lunch options. Service is always reliable no frills, but efficient. The ambience is your typical pizza parlor. The location is very convenient in Rittenhouse Square.

Michelle A.

Yelp
Got the chicken Parmesan which was good + included spaghetti which was also good. The pizza was definitely yummier though (but like more cheese than I expected in a margherita pizza). The most delicious item was definitely the Shirley temple we got. It did not taste like any other Shirley temples I've had before it was so delicious. Not sure if I'll return here, but if I do I'll for sure get a Shirley Oh and the free bread they give was good

Yelp
This was really nice! Pricey but I think totally worth it. Note that the food sizes were not totally equal to the price but it was so delicious I'd pay for it! I got their soup and risotto balls and perfect amount of food for dinner! Bread was delicious and super warm and soft! My friend got the ravioli and loved it! Our waitress Romina was so nice! Didn't feel rushed at all! We sat outside and overall 10/10 experience!

Joseph H.

Yelp
Very dependable! In a city with a few too many overly pretentious italian spots, Pietro's stays in their lane, and never disappoints.

Yelp
A friend born and raised in the area told us to eat here as her sole recommendation for our time in Philly. We started with the kale salad (baby kale) which was huge and had the most delicious mustard vinaigrette. We ate every bite. Warm rolls were brought out with a little dish of an olive oil and white bean or hummus concoction of some kind. It was delicious and appreciated. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka and my husband the gemelli arugula which had the most delicious white wine sauce. Both were honestly so delicious and huge portions. We both took leftovers home with us. Our server was friendly and my water was refilled. It was entertaining watching some regulars at the bar all visit with each other. The dining room was very spacious so there's a good chance you could get a table here, even on a busy night. The fact that this location exists in such a prime area is telling that the restaurant has been successful for a reason. This is mildly embarrassing but maybe will help you make your decision - I ended up eating my leftover and lukewarm rigatoni alla vodka with my fingers in my hotel room because I didn't have any silverware, but it was so good that I couldn't resist. No regrets. Trusty, delicious, large portions, great location! Wouldn't hesitate to return.

Yelp
I really wanted pizza. I walked in quite hungry and was seated right away. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. She brought me my drink almost immediately and then I asked her for a suggestion for a pizza and she suggested the Barese. I ordered the frozen peach bellini. It was just alright. It didn't have much flavor other than wine. While I was waiting for my pizza, a server brought me bread and dip. The bread was warm and tasty. The dip tasted almost like hummus but with what I think was white beans. It was also very good. What I was waiting for - the pizza. I did take the waiter's suggestion and ordered the Barese. It was GOOD. The pesto was flavorful and the sausage was spicy but not too spicy. I ordered a medium and ate half of it. I walked away delightfully full. A few notes. First, the place is quite loud, especially on a busy night. Second, the tables are very narrow. Second, the servers and waiters had to side step to walk between my table and the one next to me. It felt a little claustrophobic at times.
