A Vacaville institution since 1957, still family-run and deeply woven into local life. Classic red‑sauce comforts, thin‑crust pies, and a lively lounge keep generations returning. Profiled by Visit Vacaville and verified active via the restaurant’s official site and hours.

Been coming here for literal decades since I was a child. Probably the best Italian food in Vacaville maybe the whole county. Their pizza is a classic choice but don't forget to ask about any specials of the day. I tried the deep fried ravioli for the first time tonight and I was not disappointed. They also have amazing desserts, the tiramisu is a personal favorite but good luck having any room in your belly to fit it! Love this place would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Spaghetti was cold, Chicken Parmesan was delicious. The Fettuccini was also good. The service was so so, meaning when we entered the server just looked at us and took about 3 minutes before he even said anything. The place was not packed and the service was slow. Our waitress she was awesome. We're going to try the other Pietro's in Vacaville next time to compare.

Best Italian food in the area. Good food, good friends and good vibes. Service is great. Their cannelloni is delicious.

The atmosphere of this place is pretty good for a date. The service could have been better, though, and the food was good. This was our first time to this restaurant that came recommended by good friends. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Unfortunately, we waited a really long time (probably close to 15 minutes) to order and then had to wait another 12-15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. The food came before our drinks, though we had to flag someone down for napkins, silverware, and plates to eat our appetizers since they have other staff serving the food to your table. Presentation of the heirloom tomato caprese salad was beautiful and delicious. I ordered the lasagna, which I would definitely order again ($26) and was large enough that I took some to-go. My boyfriend wished he ordered this! My boyfriend wasn't thrilled with the chicken parmigiana and spaghetti. The chicken was just okay - a little dry and not too much flavor, and the spaghetti tasted as if it were reheated (it wasnt very good, neither of us ate it after a few tastes). This meal came with a choice of soup or salad - the minestrone was really, really good. I'm so very surprised this main dish (which wasn't cheap, $34) was very mediocre/not good. We were never offered more drinks or desserts. We ended up going to another place for dessert. Our server was nice but did disappoint in the experience, and was absent our entire dinner without asking how it was but to bring us the check. All-in-all, we would try this place one more time to see if it was just an 'off' experience. We do not recommend the chicken parmigiana as it says we recommend. 😉

Google
Disappointing experience. I specifically ordered the veggie ravioli, but they brought me a meat-filled one—and I only realized it after taking a bite. Unacceptable mistake, especially when dietary preferences are clearly stated. To make matters worse, they don’t accept Apple Pay and offered no alternative solutions, leaving me scrambling to figure out how to pay. The lack of attention to detail and customer care ruined the meal for me. I won’t be coming back, and I’d advise others to steer clear if you value good service and a hassle-free experience.

Google
Family dining at its best. We had a birthday meal here for four people and the food was good but very large portions! We ended up taking more than half of our meals home. At one point we couldn't hear ourselves talk because the next table had a lot of noisy visitors drop by their table. Very warm as well. Bathrooms are clean. Service was good til about half way through and then we were out of forks and water for dessert.

Yelp
I ordered through DoorDash. So no comments on the ambiance or service. I was looking for pizza that wasn't a common chain pizzeria since we had guests we wanted to impress (who happened to request pizza when asked what they'd like for lunch). Pietro's was well rated and has been a Vacaville staple for decades! We ordered a 12" Hawaiian, 12" Bianco, and 12" margherita pizza. Each pizza ranged from $22-24 for the 12" size. The total after tax and tip came out to just under $100. No option for make your own pizza with split sides. You could order a custom cheese pizza with extra toppings ($3-4 per topping). This made it a little more difficult to decide and order with one vegetarian in our group. The pizzas were a hit! In particular the Bianco was well received and the pizza that was eaten the most. The toppings were fairly generous. There is a lot of crust on these pizzas. The pizzas arrived hot and fresh. It'll be worth trying their food that isn't pizza. The pizza was tasty. Hopefully the pasta is too. But I felt the price was a little steep (probably because it was through DoorDash) for the amount of pizza.

Yelp
Tony was the most amazing waitress I have ever had! She brought old school back like no other she boxed our pizza for us which I can't find in any place neither Norcal or SoCal!! When you go to Petra's, you must have the supreme pizza and ask for Tony to be your server she is fan for King tastic

Yelp
Great Pizza and service. Still as good as when I remember as a kid back in the 80's. Top quality ingredients. Go with the all meat pizza, best pizza on the menu. Also their family meal deals are a great value.

Yelp
Literally re-downloaded Yelp to leave this review. I have been ordering this steak sandwich since I got my first job at 17yrs old. I've since left Vacaville to live in great food cities like Oakland. San Francisco, and Portland OR and worked the majority of my life in restaurants, some of which people have traveled from all over the world just to work at. I've had alot of steak sandwiches since I was a kid celebrating my first check at Pietros #1. I haven't had it probably 10years and was passing through yesterday on my way home from the holidays and made a stop 30minutes out of my way to try it again. I needed to know if it lived up to the hype because it's lived rent free in my head since the last time I had it. Does it live up to my memories? Is it just sentimental? I've tried making my own and can never replicate the flavor. I needed to try it again. I ordered it to go, and ate it in my car in the parking lot across the street. Needless to say it melted my gd brain. It still to this day is and always was the best steak sandwich I've had in my life, and I have no idea why. It's a NY strip with a nice char and grill marks, perfectly cooked at medium rare with no grey line and as far as I can tell is seasoned with fresh ground pepper, a little garlic and salt. (Maybe MSG, but I won't tell) Wood fire probably? Idk but it's perfect. The bread is nicely toasted on the outside and soft on the inside, it soaks up the steaks juices and the butter baste it seems to have had just enough but not too much to fall apart. I want to thank Pietros #1 for maintaining quality after all these years and how hard things have gotten for restaurants, to have the opportunity to taste this piece of my childhood so many years later is just what I needed in what was a truly awful 2024. I'll be making trips back and go out of my way to have this sandwich for as many years as I can, please never change Pietros, you're amazing.

Yelp
I convinced my wife to go to Pietro's #1 and all I can say is she was extremely satisfied with this traditional Italian restaurant. There's something to be said about a limited menu because everthing we ordered was awesome! Our server Eddie was awesome too. We screwed up ordering a togo food for my children and Toni the manager handled our screw up beautifully. THEY OBVIOUSLY ARE CONCERNED ABOUR THEIR CUSTOMER'S SATISFACTION. The wine list is awesome and the food is consistently great. The only negative is they are so busy and with the labor force compromised, they don't have enough help to handle the volume of customers. Every restaurant is experiencing the same challenges. Thank you Eddie and Toni for making our experience great. Ambience is family friendly.

Yelp
This is the steak sandwich of your dreams! I was impressed with how yummy the sandwich was and shocked at how generous the portion was. Don't hesitate to order it. Delicious! Also, make sure to order the minestrone as your side. The GM, Dawn, was hospitable and gave excellent advice on navigating Vacaville/Sacramento traffic since I was coming through Pietro's from the Bay Area. My bartender, Gloria, recommended the sandwich, minestrone soup, and Deloach Pinot Noir. They all paired well together. Thank you! I enjoyed the country music playing and was happy to wait out the traffic in this fun venue.

Shyanne B.

Yelp
Fried ravioli appetizer was mainly spinach and had no flavor. It was covered in cold mozzarella cheese. The server said the sauce comes on the ravioli so I requested it on the side as well with ranch and it wasn't mentioned that I would be charged to have the sauce on the side. The pastas do not come with a side salad or soup like pietros 2 which is disappointing. The cannelloni was extremely salty and the filling looked store bought and was skimpy and again only spinach. Garlic bread was still cold on the middle and the butter wasn't melted inside and tasted like only oil no garlic for salt flavor. I will not be returning.

Yelp
Finally decided to stop through this restaurant on a cold, rainy Saturday. It is a very nice place and I love they have daily specials that are definitely worth the prices they charge. I had their pizza special and an adult beverage for under $30.00. Such a great deal!

Yelp
Food is AMAZING SO YUMMY. Definitely need to check this place out folks! We drive a long distance just for the pizza!! And with the current gas prices, that says ALOT!

Yelp
Wonderful food, plenty on the plate! I had leftovers...... Very nice staff too! I'd definitely go back... I've been there three times already.

Yelp
I really enjoy their pizza, thick crust with plenty of toppings. The restaurant has a friendly ambience and the staff is great . I've tried other places but this so far has been my favorite in Vacaville

Yelp
Stellar food in a quaint atmosphere. Very attentive staff and clean surroundings. We will definitely be returning for an encore.

Yelp
We ate at Pietros#1 last evening, had the family special and, in addition, ordered a large pizza. We haven't eaten here in a year or two but remembered how much we enjoyed our dinner. I have to say that last night was very disappointing, the pizza was soggy, and pasta (cold) was tasteless, even the bread & salad were not good. The restaurant was fairly empty, which was a surprise when in the past it was bustling business where you had to wait to get a table. Like I said, we haven't been there for sometime, but have to say the quality and taste of food has gone way down! The best part of our visit was our waiter. He was great and provided excellent service. We will not be back and perhaps give Pietros #2 a try
google avatar

Yelp
Food is amazing! I love the shrimp fettuccine and combination pizza especially the garlic bread

Rich

Yelp
Oh Pietros no. 1! We had such high hopes. The wife and kid and I wanted some goood pizza after being disappointed by the various pizza joints in Vacaville (Amici's, Mary's, Pietros no. 2, Mountain Mike's, Napoli, etc.). We entered and were immediately struck by how nice the place looked. The bar looked amazing. The place was clean and well lit. The server was pretty and amicable and polite. We ordered a medium pizza, half with all the trimmings and half with just mushrooms and anchovies. I know, I know it's not most everyone's style but hey, I love anchovies. The pizza arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was pretty tasty, even if it was a bit undercooked in the middle. When the bill arrived we noticed something strange. We were charged 10 dollars extra for a pizza that had less ingredients. Imagine, you take half the ingredients away and get charged more? We argued with the manager who said that because it was customized and because their system couldn't change the order we had to be charged 10 dollar surcharge for a pizza that had less. What kind of logic is that? Anyway, we paid their ridiculous price and left. We swore we're never going back. Unethical is what I say. Bad business practice. Illogical and so No thanks Pietro's no. 1. Do better!!

Yelp
Food & service. I'm a lifetime customer. Family events, to go orders or just food cravings for family style Italian food.

Yelp
I've been here 4 times in the last 6 months. We had lived in VV and have been here many Friday nights, but now we drive from W. Sacramento to enjoy their food. We love the calamari and today we ordered 1 dinner and 2 lunch portions for three of us plus a pepperoni pizza. I had salad with mine but the blue cheese was horrible. I ate it but it was so very watery and only specs of said cheese. I would NOT order blue cheese next time! The pizza dough was overcooked and very dense, not bread like at all. It needed more sauce and cheese too. There was enough pepperoni on it. The calamari was very tasty and did not disappoint. I love lemon juice on mine and avoided the tartar sauce, but my guests commented that the tartar sauce was not very tasty so they didnt eat it. The garlic bread is usually good but i always have to salt it because i can only taste the butter or olive oil on it. So overall, we enjoyed the calamari but were disappointed with everything else. The coffee was delicious and the two young female servers were polite and accomodating when asking for refills. Bill was $120 and i did leave $20 for the servers but if the meal is like this next trip we might give No.2 a try next trip.

Stuart R.

Yelp
Pizza was absolutely fantastic! Calamari was good too! Homemade ranch dipping sauce was excellent! However, every time I've ordered pasta it hasn't been that great. Just average and kind of bland pasta. Not impressed with the Lasagna either. The bread is definitely not as good as it used to be. If I try a better pasta, then I will update this review. Still waiting for that opportunity!

Yelp
We've been going to this Pietro's for over 50 years, still the same great service and food. Our server, Kelsie, is totally awesome, she remembers our drinks and food orders!

Yelp
With the scorching heat yesterday and Thursdays are usually one or our date nights, we went to Pietros #1 for dinner. I know some people feel #2 might be better but we started patronizing this location when we initially moved to the area and never had a bad experience so we continue to. We started with hubby's usual an old fashion and I had a Mexican Mule (very refreshing). They serve complimentary bread (oh we love bread ). I was up in the air with what I wanted for my entree. So many thoughts ran through my mind (pizza, a burger, sandwich) lol and I ended up ordering the ceased salad and added chicken ‍. The serving size was very filling. Had a great amount of Parmesan and the waitress/bartender automatically brought out an extra dressing which was a plus since it was needed. The added chicken was ok-Nothing to rave about but it made the salad a more complete meal for me. Hubby loves pasta.. He opted to have the Penne pasta with meat sauce and added meatballs (2 @ $4). Huge portion and he took half home. I also nibbled on his . Very tasty and well seasoned. We sat at the bar and watched a bit of golf and there were about 4 other people there (not very busy around 5:30). We enjoyed our meals and still recommend this location. Bill-$75
google avatar

Stephen A.

Yelp
Just put in a pretty big pick up order for a bunch of people at work. $550 plus and $80 tip. As I mentioned the order was pretty big but I think 80 dollars for a pickup was a descent tip. As I was picking up the food I asked for a few sides of ranch. The lady said "they cost $2!" We do big orders about once a month but usually order from the Pietros across the street. I've asked for ranch every single time at pickup and have always just been asked how many we would like. The vibe at this location is terrible compared to the one across the street. If your craving Italian food make sure you chose the other location.

Greg S.

Yelp
Over priced Italian food with very little flavor don't waste your time. This place is basic commercial Italian food with very little authentic background 25 + Years ago good now same as olive garden .The owner was a good cook chef quality

Yelp
Just had dinner at Pietro's last night. Food was excellent as was the service. Gloria was our waitress and literally gave us the best service I have ever experienced at Pietro's. She went above and beyond. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great food great service will definitely be back. Had a pizza and spaghetti with meat sauce really enjoyed both.

Yelp
We ordered a Large super special with extra sausage. The pizza was fantastic. We ordered a order of fettuchine and had one bite each and tossed it out. It tasted very sour. Almost like spoiled milk. We were so bummed because usually the pasta is good. Oh well maybe next time it will be better.

Rae P.

Yelp
I used to come here and have great service. Now they never refill your drinks . Service has gone down hill. Had people come in 20 minutes after us same size party and were served 10 minutes before us. All we ordered were burgers a grilled cheese and a veggie sandwich.

Trisha Magwood

Yelp
The lunch specials, Pizza & Cesar salad extra cheese are our all time favorites! We moved out of state and it is a stop we must make every time
google avatar

Yelp
I love the meatballs and their pizza and the family salad, but I am not happy with them after our to go order last night. We spent over $60 for meatballs, salad with blue cheese dressing, and spaghetti. When we got it home and put the dressing on the salad, I looked at the salad and there were little sand grain pieces of blue cheese and the base of the salad dressing has disappeared. When I tasted it, it was gross, it tasted like nasty water and instead of creamy dressing that sticks to the salad it was nasty watered down something that might have once been salad dressing. It ruined the salad , I couldn't even eat it. Blue cheese dressing should be thick creamy with chunks of blue cheese that stick to the salad, not some cloudy water that ends up in the bottom of the bowl with grains of blue cheese. Food costs are so high already, but to ruin it by serving that to us that creates an inedible dish is robbery. Get your poop in a group Pietro's or you are gonna lose a good customer!

Yelp
I visited Pietro's #1 with my sister. Everyone here is so nice and it's like home for my sister. I call it her "Cheers, where everyone knew your name"! She and her hubby used to be regulars here before he passed way last year. She always brings me here when I visit from Oregon. Their food is delicious and the ambiance is very welcoming. On this visit we both had a bowl of Clam Chowder with Garlic Bread. Both were amazing! This restaurant is on my "must visit" list every time I visit.

Yelp
It really takes a lot for me to write a poor review of a local restaurant, and one that may not be a popular opinion given how long it's been in business. I've waited several times to write this in order to be fair, even though it has been a year since I last ate here, with same results, but only worse food. I am extremely disappointed with the food at Pietro's. I'm usually never one to complain about too much salt. In fact, it often annoys me when I hear people constantly complain about salt; however, everything from the bread, pizza, ravioli, and pastas was just so overwhelmingly salty, I was thirsty for water all night long. I ordered the Super Special pizza, but the crust was so overcooked and burnt, and deeply undercooked on the outside. The Mushrooms were raw and sausage was crispy. I appreciate how loaded it was, but it didn't help with the proper cooking process in this pizza. The complementary bread tasted like someone forgot to close the lid on the salt and the entire container fell on top of the bread. This happened on both occasions we had bread that evening. The chicken parmigiana was okay, and not terrible, and not as salty as the other dishes, but nothing to write home about. The raviolis were very soft and overcooked, and missing the nice Al dente bite. The sauce on top was extremely salty, and couldn't taste the meat inside the filling. The fettuccine with chicken was not memorable at all either. Just nothing about it was enjoyable and could have ever easily been made at home with exact results. I won't be returning and as painful as it is to say, it's truly a disappointment to report this portly of the quality of food.

Yelp
Omg what great restaurant and people Toni bartender is the best come try it food was amazing

Alyssa H.

Yelp
The "garlic" bread tasted like just butter bread to me. Could use more garlic flavor. I do appreciate that it is complimentary and hot. Overall a very satisfying pizza although it seemed a bit overloaded and trying to eat a slice, things are just sliding off because it is too heavy.

Louis P.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying this is one of my go to restaurants. My wife I went for an early dinner tonight, they weren't busy yet, and we were sat as soon as we walked in. This is where the issue started. We were in our seats for about 15 minutes and were never even approached by a waiter or waitress. After watching one waitress partially clear a table next to us then go sit in the corner and start texting on her phone, 3 other staff in the kitchen talking to the cooks, and the female manager sitting eating and obviously not supervising we got up and left. It's sad because I love this place.

Patrick S.

Yelp
Good Italian American food with a focus on pizza, Pietros has been around for a long time in this area. They've remodeled a few times and the current incarnation has a blend of modern comfort with nostalgic charm. The pizza is thick crust and hearty with a really good tomato sauce. The Super Special is an excellent blend of meat and veggies, a benchmark for combos in my opinion. I can't really speak to the pasta, but it usually pleases the kids if they are not feeling like pizza. The beer and wine selection fairly basic, so adjust your expectations. Salads are fresh and crisp, likely very similar to something from their early days. A gluten allergy was accommodated well on several visits and that level of care was very appreciated. That said, service can vary a lot, especially since Covid, but we've always found them to be well intentioned and friendly.

Yelp
The Burgers with cheese " FANTASTIC " Thank you Gloria the service was very attentive and the atmosphere quaint .. the other patrons very friendly ,, just a very nice Dinner w the hubby .. the prices were very reasonable ! I will try the New York steak next time

Yelp
The space is great, welcoming quiet, bar area gives great suggestions. The corn chowder soup is excellent, great mixture of ingredients and flavors. The old fashioned was very detail on having fresh orange and very well decorated. The calamari has a great texture, crunchy yet tendered. Highly recommend an evening dinner, perfect for celebrating.

Yelp
I actually would've left a much better review because I genuinely liked this place but for whatever reason they blocked me on social media ‍ It's giving discrimination and or insecurity maybe both to whoever runs their account either way I'm happy to leave this one star review and not give them my business/recommendation in the future. May God bless your heart
google avatar

Yelp
So you love basic and average Italian food? How about lackluster service, and high prices!? Then Pietro's #1 is for YOU! For me? Naw dawg. No draft beer, basic white girl bottle selection and the bartender didn't know what she was doing. I asked for chicken on our pasta, but she didn't ring it in, and it took almost the same time it did to eat the pasta while waiting. Then they brought me a dried out who breast that wasn't cut up. Do you guys need a prep cook? If it wasn't for the pesto, our pasta would have been tasteless. No tomato, no cheese or bread offered. First time here and the last. No value, and poor service. I don't understand the hype or good reviews. Hopefully it was an "off night".

Yelp
We had the best time. Came from Sac here to get the pizza. It didn't disappoint. We had some pizza and wine. Great service, friendly people all around!

Yelp
Just celebrated family birthdays again at Pietro's #1. Our server Toni was exceptional - she was gracious and met all our requests quickly and with a smile. All the food we ordered were solid choices- but the best that kept us coming back again and again are : The great service with good ambiance, the delicious 16 oz N.Y. steak grilled to our specifications, the combo pizza, the meatballs and the birthday ice cream. Kudos to the entire team!

Yelp
First time trying this place. My friend suggested it because she had tried Pietro's #2 and loved it. The only difference is number 2 doesn't have a full bar. We started with two cocktails which took over 20mins to get. Weird considering that the restaurant was not busy at all and there were two bartenders. Then table of 8 was sat and they got their cocktails within 5 minutes.... That was strange. Next came ordering food. We asked if we could do half white sauce and half red sauce on the cannelloni. To which she replies all of those dishes come premade and frozen and they can't make changes....something as a waitress you don't tell customers. FROZEN FOOD. At a handmade scratch Italian place??? The lasagna tasted like a stoffers grocery store lasagna. The bread was awful and the food took FOREVER! The waitress came back once but not to offer more drinks. We were never asked if we wanted a refill or another cocktail or even dessert. She handed us our bill and never returned. Was this lack of training? Was she new? Who knows...Pietro's you should check on your staff and assess their skills. Incredibly disappointing meal that costed over $120. Definitely not worth trying this place. Over priced, poor customer service and bad food.

Yelp
My first time at this location, I absolutely loved the location, the ambiance was warm and welcoming! Attended a coworkers retirement party and our waitress...she was above and beyond service! Food, fun, laughs, hugs, memories and the making of more...5 STARS! Thank you for wonderful hospitality! I will not be a stranger!

Yelp
I was told about this spot from a few people.. some say they go to #1... some go to #2.. I went to #1 because it was closer to where I was at... at the time.. I not disappointed.. My Pizza was sooooooo BOMB.COM .. I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes...

Yelp
This local and family owned restaurant has been a favorite of ours since we moved to vacaville in 1988. Their pizza combo is incredible with the perfect amount of crust. Their red sauce is delicious! I highly recommend the spaghetti with meat sauce, calamari, salad with blue cheese, and don't forget an Italian margarita. The service is lovely! Their staff is ALWAYS kind, helpful, consistent, efficient, and ready to greet you with a warm smile. The restaurant ambience is lovely! They even have a private room to host a banquet or Christmas party. We love our Pietros family!

Yelp
Ok gang, I raised my kids in Vacacille and never heard anything great about this place, so after all these years my wife said " I want Italian but I don't want to drive far because it's Friday, traffic" I get it, so we chose this place. I got the chicken parm wife got some chicken with spaghetti and appetizers a beer etc. When I took a bite into the chicken parm it felt like fell off a cliff head first mouth open directly into a salt mine. It was soooo salty that I thought ok just maybe the noodles will tone it down and I forced 1 portion down and just couldn't do the other I completely quit, it felt like I was being pranked or they honestly never wanted to see us there again.. I've never ever in my life had that much salt on anything. We. Spent $100 with tip and walked away with an experience. FYI my wife told me to say nothing and also said to me " no you are not leaving it, take it home" I said and feed it to who,? she said the garbage and we started LOAO!

Yelp
I used to love coming to Pietros and do remember this pizza being hands down one of the best, but as of late, it came out at as a mediocre pie. The crust was decent and there wasn't as much cheese as I remember. I do still give a big shout out to that pepperoni. For starters we ordered a bottle of champagne and the 3 meat balls. Let me start by saying this, there are signs in the restaurant that say bottles of wine/champagne are 33% off on Thursday's. When I asked the server this, she said "oh no, that's an old sign and don't do that anymore." As a busy restaurant and a staple of the community you'd figure you would do your due diligence and ensure signage, marketing and prices stay current through out your restaurant. Unfortunately, they do not. The meat balls were tasty and we did enjoy them. Our server was average and just did her job without any extra effort except when the bill came out. Overall, decent place and wouldn't be my top choice next time I am in the area.

Yelp
I have returned to Pietro's and have had a much improved experience. The service has been so much better--we were quickly greeted upon arrival and the waitress was very friendly. We ordered a spaghetti, ravioli and pizza. They came out hot and tasty. Very pleased with the improvement on the food. Also--must try the fries appetizer--delicious. We will definitely return to Pietro's. Glad to see things have improved and are looking forward to coming back.

Yelp
Very good old-school pizza (medium-thick crust baked in a classic pizza oven); everything else is passable, but not stellar. Salad hasn't been updated in decades (iceberg lettuce, cukes, croutons from a box). Somewhat over-priced, given the quality, in my opinion. Nice bar, and fairly decent wine choices.
