Pike Cafe

I liked that this is a fun family spot. It has games (like cornhole) so that you can play. The waitress is nice but you cant find her once the place gets busy. Had to wait awhile. Food comes out looking good. But doesnt have much flavor.

We went with a group, the waitress, S.., was amazing, we had great service, enen the place was fuller than normal. The food was great, besides the coated cajun fries, you should try their wings and their specialty sauces...if you het the chance I had a Port Porterhouse before, it was so Tender, no knive needed, same for the Chicken Breast.

Pleasant bar atmosphere, plenty of beer specials but the food was out of this world. Friends recommended the wings and they didnt disappoint. Everyone loved their meal in out table of six. Food prices were reasonable, plenty of beer specials

Went to the pike with my family of 5, my daughter ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, once all our food arrived everything looked well other than our daughters, we he patty was not cooked well and not prepared well, when we addressed the issue to the waiter he said there not gonna let us exchange it for anything else or refund us. On top of that gratuity is already guaranteed. Service wasn’t great, food was a miss, won’t be returning.

If you place a large PICK UP order the employees will give it away and pretend it was a delivery order. There’s no way you didn’t double check a $120 order. I’m not stupid. I just waited 30 minutes to have my food made over all because someone was underpaid and hungry.

Went to Pike with my wife. We both had the crab cakes with asparagus and wild rice. The cakes were very dry with no flavor, the asparagus was hard and the rice had been microwaved. We will not be back.

The food was great overall. Had the Berks BBQ burger and that was fantastic, cooked perfectly, and very good flavor. Also, I got the wings, they were very good, crispy and flavorful, my only issue with them, are these wings are small, like the size of your thumb or pinky, which is disappointing. They have a nice parking lot beside the place, inside had a full bar, TVs, nice seating area. The staff was very nice and helpful and inside was clean and tidy. Overall, it was a great place to visit and have a great menu, with options for all.

Customer at end of bar was loud and disturbing. I ordered chicken fingers, yeingling lager and 1911 fruit cider. My husband ordered chicken wings. Our friend ordered spicy chicken sandwich which I believe came with a side salad. And she had 2 Moscow mules. She said the sandwich was very spicy but not unbearable. My husband and I liked our food as well. I don't know how much the bill was. The bartender was very nice.

What a place! I stopped in here for an appetizer and a few beers before the Death Angel show down the street at Club Reverb. Based on the number of metal-shirt-wearing folks at the restaurant, I figured I'd found the best local spot before the show. Next time I'm at the Pike Cafe I'll get more to eat; this time all I needed was something small and their bruschetta plate was just what I'd been in the mood for. I haven't had bruschetta this style before, with a bowl of the bruschetta components and the bread separately. It was unbelievably good. I wish I was eating it again right now, as I type this. I didn't try the fries, but my friend did, and he said they were some of the best fries he's ever had. The servers were friendly and beer prices reasonable (Sunday nights, Miller Lites $3!). The people next to me got to pull a number out of a raffle, or something like that, since they were wearing sports clothing. So, something to keep in mind next time.

I haven't been to The Pike in over a decade. There was a group of 6 of us visiting from out of town and decided to get wings at The Pike for old time sake. We were seated almost immediately. I ordered a dozen wings. I went with half mild and half sweet chili and an order of fries with cheese sauce on the side. I also ordered a Shirley Temple for my beverage. The wings were so good. Wish I would have gotten all of them mild because I forgot how good their mild sauce is. The fries were so so. The restaurant was clean and well lit and service was on point. They were able to do split checks for our party and 20% gratuity was automatically added to each check. Nice local spot for some good wings.

We just left there. Sat for 15 minutes. No one waited on us or even took a drink order. But they immediately waited on 2 table that came in after us. I mentioned it to the hostess and she said absolutely nothing. It's loud in there & I can't even comment on the food

Wow! Where in the heck did this place come from? I have seen a few shows at the Reverb and never noticed this place to pre-game and it is literally just down the street. Showed up 5:30 this past Friday and got one of the last remaining tables. In fairness, it was opening day for the Phillies and a very popular show at Reverb, so it was almost an hour wait by the time we left at 6:45. The place is huge and deceiving from the outside. A massive bar that smacks you as soon as you walk in the door and stretches all around the space with a ton of TV's. It's loud, so not the place for a first date or trying to play catch up with old friends/family. Our server was super nice, chatty and great with recommendations. My buddy had their standard buffalo wings and he loved them. They were on the smaller side, but not over priced. He ordered one of their burgers medium-rare and it was cooked perfectly. I had a build your own grilled chicken sandwich and they serve Bell and Evans chicken breasts, which is my favorite. Grilled onions, wild mushroom and jalapenos (pickled type) all at no extra charge. That was amazing. Huge portion of chicken and so flavorful. The only negative for me personally was the fries. Shoestring type and very light in color. Not super flavorful or seasoned. Great list of cocktails and craft beer on draft, plus so much more. What a hit! Can't wait to return.

The Pike is my favorite place to go for wings on Wednesdays. I wish they would bring back the blackened shrimp and scallop crostinis, which was my favorite appetizer. I only have this picture to keep as a memory.

The wings are the best! I love how good they taste and I also love that they're not these huge thick wings. Great flavor, great staff and a nice place to hang out. I always recommend coming here to anyone I know :) a true gem hidden in Reading.

Everything was on point and great place too watch sports and njoy ur favorite meals.Whenever in the Pennsylvania area for a great time too njoy food and sport activities go too the pike u won't be let down

This place was way better than expected. I got the chicken fajitas and they were steaming hot and plentiful. So yummy! They claim that their wings are world famous, but they were just meh. I liked that you could order just the drums or just the flats! Great place with a great atmosphere. I'd recommend!

The stupid bartender with the little glasses I believe his name was Chris. Extremely unprofessional!! Treated me and my husband like shit !! Had an attitude when I asked him questions about the food and slammed my drink on the counter !! He even called me a bitch under his breath and thought I wouldn't notice . Super unprofessional so dissatisfied with my service tonight !

Not what it once was. Over crowed and prices are out of line for bar food. Trying to find a parking place can be difficult.

I am coming to the Pike Cafe a few months now, enjoyed the food and taste of it, however my last experience on Monday AUG-21 was almost horrifying. Baskets of food where delivered to the table, stacked into each other, i.e. basket of fries on top of a basket of wings. This is cross contamination as the baskets are being touched by many people, i.e. by waiters, previously touching money, etc. - you get the idea. This shall NEVER be happening. It does not take Rocket Science to know as waitstaff not to do such a thing. Serving trays are available, getting lazy does not get you revenue if you have to toss out contaminated food. Apply common sense, re-train your waitstaff and you are good to go! Don't ruin your business because you have flaws in your performance.

Finally after hearing so much about this place was able to experience Shirley's sister establishment.. and I am so happy I did. Already on multiple occasions at that! The first time I went I grabbed their Vegan Sausage Wrap. It comes with a sun-dried tomato pesto and eggplant. I am pretty positive they use my favorite brand (Field Roast) for their sausage, and I am not even mad about it. Their beer selection is also always full of great options. I have had multiple hazy brews to choose from so far, and even when something gets tapped the replacement is usually stellar. Oh and the truffle fries... six dollars ladies and gents. Do it. But maybe plan for a run prior to. The staff is always friendly, even making sure to bring crayons and lollipops to the little ones (even though I wanted them too). I've sat outdoors and indoors, and the ambiance in both sections is great. Happy hour brings in a full crowd, however, so prepare to stand at the bar if you don't get there in time.

Small over priced average wings. But they have great staff and a diverse atmosphere that's welcoming.

Had Dinner Here The Other Night. Got In And Waited About 30 Minutes For A Server To Come And Tend To Us. Ordered Some Wings, Beers And Fries. Waited About 20 Minutes To Get 1 Beer. Seems Like The Waiter Was More Concerned About Hanging With His Friends Then Working. Let's Just Say The Quality Of Food Here Has Gone Down In Years. Inferior Wings To Tasteless Fries.

The two different burgers I've had there have been great. The Kobe burger and berks burger were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The fresh cut fries were not very crispy but still way better than frozen bags of fries. The wings were small. The sauce on them was lazily put on. If you have x amount of flavors, please have x amount of metal bowls and toss the wings in them so you coat the entire wing, and not just cover parts of them.

First I would like to say that my husband was very excited to eat at The Pike cafe. He eats here whenever he gigs at the reverb. We ordered wings well done, truffle fries well done, cheeseburger medium well. A garden salad. Drinks, Hersheys yuengling chocolate porter for hubby and I ordered a blue moon. The burger came out medium rare, more rare than medium well. The fries on the platter were soggy! They fixed the burger but dropped the same fries back in the oil so they came out like a fried pile of poop. The burger when cooked right was delicious, good quality meat. Now let's talk about the wings, smh. First I want to say when we walked into the restaurant I saw a young lady's plate that the wings were eaten to the bone and I was like damn these wings must be amazing because most people don't clean the bone like this. Well let's say that the wings were cleaned to the bone because there wasn't much meat on the wings. I don't like overly large wings but these wings came out looking like pigeon wings. These were the smallest wings I've seen in my life. Like baby chick wings. They use local organic wings, the waitress said. Ok. Maybe you shouldn't because it had no meat on it. Truffle fries were soggy and overly garnished with green onions. Half of the truffle fries platter were old fries that were like chips and new fries that were soggy. The garden salad was a salad. The balsamic dressing was TART no flavor or seasoning. The salad was fresh. No complaints there. The beer tap was either at the end of the keg on each beer we ordered or just dirty. We had both beers removed from the check and my husband ask for a Guinness instead. I just decided on a seltzer. The Guinness was not good either. The waitress came over to see how everything was and I explained our dislike for the product we were served. She said she would talk to the manger and came back shortly after. She started talking very loud, I immediately said your talking very loud as other patrons were starting to look over at our table. I didn't make a scene and didn't want to. She lowered her voice and told me what they would do to resolve the issue, she offered us a piece of chocolate cake. We didn't come here for dessert sweetie we came here for food! Needless to say she had to go get the manager who was also wearing a servers uniform. I decided to sit quietly and let my husband take it from here. I don't do well with people who don't use their common sense. Two beers were removed the soggy truffle fries as well. I decided to go out and have a smoke. I was outside and the waitress came charging out the door! We corrected the bill! Is your husband still inside! I'm like yeah I'm having a cigarette my coat and bag are at the table! Did you think I was running away from our tab, but just standing here having a cigarette. Bottom line people, we will never ever ever return. Dine at your own risk! Highest form of pisstivity!

The staff that make this place go round and operate this day in and day out is impeccable. I don't condone recent findings about the owner, but just because he is the face of the business, doesn't mean it doesn't affect the employees that work there. A face of a business that did wrong will get what he deserves if the law sees it that way, but don't go and take money out of the staff's pocket that run that business. This has been a staple place since '85 and I'm sure the owners partners will get involved as well as he is not sole owner. Let's not all go boycotting the Pike. Legal proceedings happen if the state rules that way and I'm sure his co-owners will step in and take charge.

Pike Cafe the place to be Tuesday nights for Awesome lobster and fantastic crab bisque. The Pike Cafe is a local bar situated on Pike and Moss streets in NE Reading. The outside of the business is well maintained and does not look run down which happens from time to time in the city of Reading. When you walk in and take a seat at the bar or a table you are warmly greeted by your server who is happy to give you a menu and to get you a drink. I have stopped by on multiple times since I'm from the area usually when I visit home. I stopped by on a Tuesday due to their Lobster and clam special. Boy oh boy am I glad I did. Whoever the chef is at the Pike the guy/gal who buys the seafood knows what they are doing. The crab bisque we ordered seemed like they took crab meat from 8 crabs and melded it with a fantastic bisque. I have to say it was probably the best crab bisque I have ever had. We also ordered the steamed clams which were 50 cents a piece. It reminded me of the clam bakes that everyone in Reading has during the summer time. The clams came out seemed and ready to be dipped in butter. Finally the main dish I came for was the $16 lobster. This lobster wasn't a small $5 dollar lobster that you can buy at a Kroger grocery store this was a Maine 8 oz. lobster. It was a really good size and would put Red lobster to shame for the price. The lobster was cooked well and came out of it's shell no problem. Our waitress was very nice and was very prompt with the drinks and knew how to handle the table. Our bill over all plus drinks for the wife and I was about $50 bucks. We both got the lobster dish, shared the bisque and had some clams and a pitcher of beer. Also we found out that if you are with a table of six the Pike automatically ads a 18% gratuity which works for me. Overall the Pike cafe is a true Reading establishment and I encourage locals and visitors alike to stop by anytime and give this place a try for its food and atmosphere.

Out to eat with my son. I absolutely love the food here and staff Is always very kind and always apologetic if the wait is to long. Service is awesome weather take in or delivery never have any complaints about this establishment. I would reccomend the seafood soup to any one who loves seafood and the wings are always amazing. The fact that you can order drums or split I think is great for those who like just drum sticks like my self. Never had a bad time in this place. Would reccomend it to any one always has sports on and many different games. Weather with friends or family it's a great place to hang out or be with your family. Depiste the fact of being in the city there isnt any roudyness that I have ever witnessed.

Having lived in the Reading area for over 10 years I always look forward to coming back and visiting here. If you look up consistency in the dictionary you would see the Pike. They do so many things well. We sat at the bar and there are TVs everywhere the eye can see. We come here for March madness too. The service at the bar is really good. They have a wide variety of local and national breweries on tap. Their prices are competitive and I hardly ever order anything out of the menu because I look at their nightly specials and everything always looks good. I had a steak with Gouda cheese and mushrooms with asparagus and mashed potatoes. You get a lot for your money. I have a garlic allergy and they went and spoke with the kitchen to make sure I was ok with my order. It was delicious. Make sure you bring an appetite for watching sports drinking good beer and excellent food.

Great food and service. Do not be discouraged by the location. The streets are tight but there is a covered parking lot across the street. I had the wings (yes, they are small but they are not pumped with saltwater) and the Alamo burger both were good. Will be going back.

I've been a fan for twenty years.... the Pike has the best staff in a large venue I've ever seen. Bartenders are fast and work the bar as a team... you rarely need to wait for service. The wait staff are pleasant, very competent, and quick to provide anything you need. The food is always top notch, reasonably priced, and varied...This is , without a doubt, the standard by which all others in Reading are judged.

I like to consider myself a staunch snobby jaded New Yorker and there is truth even pride to that claim (bows), so when I travel anywhere else in the world, it's my baseline. Let me be clear, the "snob" aspect is not related to dined dining or price. It's related to authenticity, flavor, ambiance, customer service, and of course flavor. The collective is an "experience ". To that end, The Pike Cafe is a gem. They have a sweet sliver of all of the above. This hardcore New Yorker felt at home here.

I had dinner there last night made a reservation there two days prior when we got there they said they did not have one for the 4 of us. When I showed them the call log from my phone they sat us in the corner of the restaurant where the air conditioning was on and blowing very cold air and it was 45 degrees outside no reason for the air conditioner to be on. When ask to be seating at another table they said they did not have any but you could clearly see 4 other tables that were cleaned and ready to go poor management. Food is great had the seafood chowder is always the best. Service was fair and my bill with the tip was $168.00. Do not know if I will go and ever eat in but will order the chowder to go. Went to the Pike for dinner with friends tonight. Was disappointed with the food in general. French onion soup had no flavor and the bread/croutons were soggy beyond recognition. Wings were good but wife had a special wild mushroom crostini that came out cold, cheese was not melted, and the mushrooms and cheese were both cold. Had not been there for a couple months and be a few more before returning. Sorry, was always very good but was told it's not up to par.

It's a very nice place and the food was very good. We were disappointed that they would not move two tables together for our party of 8. The waiter told us it was because the owner was in a 'bad mood'. While I'm pretty she was joking, they didn't move the tables together and we didn't have as much fun as we could have if we were together.

Has the best wings on the planet besides The Bridge Inn in pleasantville. Love that you can choose either flats (wings) or drumsticks.

Moved away from Reading area 20 years ago and still make the trek occasionally to get their awesome wings! If you don't think that organic, air chilled, Bell and Evans wings are worth it, think again! They have many other delicious menu items too!

The Pike has been around for a long time, and as you can see from the other reviews people love it, so I'm focusing solely on the wings here instead of my feelings about the bar/restaurant itself. The wings are totally mediocre. Small, fried too crispy. The sauces are thick and industrial and simply dumped over a 6-wing pile. For a place that touts the quality of its wings, they really don't try very hard. Meh.

Quality food all the time.. we just had a tour of the entire establishment. Mike you are doing it right. Who's has a menu this vast where everything taste like a specialty? The Steaks like a steak House, the Mexican food like it's their home country and salads as fresh as if he grew everything from his garden. This is a bar with "not your every day" bar food. 4 Star quality food and drinks in a comfortable neighborhood bar. I can't say enough. This bar deserves its "World Famous Pike Cafe" title. You did good Mike.

I went here specifically because there is a tasty vegan choice right on the menu, and then I saw the beer list, whoa, wonderful (Troeg's Nugget Nectar did not last long, dang). The vegan burger/sausage he makes from scratch can be made into a wrap or the bigger, more filling pasta dish. This is a very popular place, and there is a parking lot, so go early if you want to avoid the crowds and noise. Excellent service too. Reading can be a desert for vegans, so make sure to try these dishes. Open late and every day.

Today I tried for the first time. AMAZING service,food will be returning. Also amazing prices. Perfect combination between soft and crispy.

Fried ice cream yuckkk it wasn't even fried outside was soggy like it was just rolled in cereal not crispy at all like a fried ice cream usually would be... you can clearly see the outside not fried with... fried ice cream has a solid crust

Best wings around. They are not huge but are always crispy and delicious! Nice place to sit at the bar or bring your family and get a table. There is a huge, well lit parking lot, and theres always a friendly crowd inside.

First and last visit. Not one to complain but food was less than good, service was terrible and it took an hour to get the check. Waitress disappeared for at least half an hour and she was very unorganized. Wait time for a simple beer was ridiculous. Never going back.

If your looking for good food, good drinks, good service and people this is the place to go. Love the wings and honestly everything I've ever tried here was amazing

I do not write reviews unless they're really bad or really good. This was really freaking bad. I had lived in Reading, PA for two years frequenting the Pike a lot and loved it. Came back a year later and had AWFUL bartenders who were so rude and rolled their eyes at us as well as took my entire cash as their "tip" when I wanted to pay with a gift card and finish off with cash. I should've asked for it back but wanted to get out as quickly as possible. It makes me sad because this place used to have such good food and even better service and these bartenders were so rude that I didn't even want to stay longer than one drink. Corinne is the only helpful person we talked to all night.

This place is a hole-in-the-wall. It's a little small and the restrooms could use some attention, but the food was amazing! I got the scallop appetizer, and it was 100% better and larger than the fancy restaurant I was at the night before. I would go back again!

In for Almost Queen at the Santander Performing arts center and found this local gem on Yelp. I enjoyed a fresh salad to start that came wtih my dungeness crab ravioli. The pasta was in a sundried tomato cream sauce and topped with two nice size shrimp. Hubs had the Alamo burger and their specialty wings-- he loved both! I enjoyed a beer from Double Nickel which is back near our hometown. Loved the vibe-- very crowded but not too loud.

Really good place to eat and relax! First time in from Texas and had a solid atmosphere. Will definitely be back when I'm in Reading for training again!

Good drinks , good food ! Nice place to go after work. Has a bar in front , but you can sit and eat at a table. Nice bar and restaurant. Theyve always kept it looking nice.

The Pike, the best wings in Berks, also has great burgers. Captain Mike always bids you a hello, and makes you feel like you're someone special. See you at the Pike.

Had a great meal and some drinks here Friday night! Always a great time at The Pike! Sat outside on the patio which is always enjoyable. Keep up the great service and good eats! Wings are where it's at here!

Waitress was wonderful and service was great also. Very packed and cramped but I see they are adding in the the place, definitely need to make it more family oriented. The addition there building they would definitely benefit from. Food came out hot and tasty and drinks were on point. Will return again.

Pike is a staple in Reading, Pa. Wing night is always a great time to gather with friends, have some wings and a few drinks. I personally love the new outdoor area they have added. I've been coming here for about 5 years now and I love it. I have 2 complaints though: sometimes when we order wings a few of the "wings" are kind of like just bones. He second is, the pizza is not made well at all. The last time I got pizza here the amount of cheese that was on it was probably an inch piled on and barely any sauce plus the cheese overtook the crust. It was as if we ordered a heap of melted cheese. It was not edible at all. Absolutely the worst pizza I've had in my life. Other wise I would have given this place 5 stars.
