Harry Potter-style Castle in Downtown Minneapolis Should Become a Restaurant | Eater Twin Cities

"I stumbled across a castle in the shadow of the US Bank Stadium near Grumpy’s and the Loft Literary Center — the former home of restaurateur and musician Jeff Arundel — that feels like the most unique residence in Minneapolis. From the outside it makes no sense in the newly developing part of town: turrets, wrought-iron gates and a fairytale courtyard give it a castlelike vibe; inside is a mix of gothic materials twisted with jewel-toned accents across a 4,500-square-foot home with three bedrooms and three baths and a Hagrid-sized fireplace that probably leads straight to the Ministry of Magic. Back on the market for $2.995 million and currently zoned residential, it was briefly under consideration by a brewery that pulled out, and Arundel told the Star Tribune he'd be smart to turn it into another restaurant and that he misses the recording studio; with the city's apparent openness to other uses, it would make the coolest restaurant space in the Twin Cities so long as the menu stays Muggle-friendly." - Joy Summers

My mom and I visited the castle on July 14 and LOVED it. I swear I gasped out loud every time I turned a corner. Matthew and Ryan and the team have done an incredible job - the home is a collective work of art. Well worth the visit!

It was an absolute joy to have the opportunity to explore this Gilded age mansion. It is very different from others I have toured, owing to its history as well as recent renovations. It is a splendid mix of historic, classy, and quirky. I genuinely had no inkling what would be around every corner!

Very nice home but I have issues with the presentation. The whole experience felt like a Builder's Show at the Fairgrounds. No opportunity was missed to acknowledge the Architect, Designer, Supplier, Builder, etc, etc etc. With SO much sponsorship the ticket price should be half of what it is. Shame on you all for dipping into as many gratis buckets of excess as you can haggle..... This is what "Historical Preservation" has become?!?!

Toured the Pillsbury Castle on July 25th. Interesting renovation, with a bit more work to be done. The house looked great, but the location is somewhat marginal at best. Minneapolis is a city in decline. And I wouldn't have spent that money to renovate that house in such a high crime area.

The Pillsbury Castle Project was a sight to behold! All of the ASID designers in partnership with NAMI did an amazing job honoring this architectural beauty while updating some of the features to the current era.
