Wow!!! What an amazing experience! This place is just superb. The drinks are insanely good and the bartender is just stupendous! If you are around town just stop by and enjoy.

Google
So glad we stopped by after going to Reach Break Brewing. Mike was our libations specialist and was great. I will tell you this, they have great craft cocktails and spirits. There whiskies where delicious. There is something for everyone there. Can’t wait to go back!!!!!

Noel W.

Google
Absolutely delicious! There is a wide variety of beverages (I recommend the flights) and the absinthe service is a delight. Our bartender was extremely considerate and recommended 1 absinthe service for our party of 3, which was perfect, as we would not have been able to handle 2 each. Beautiful bottles and a spirits sampler too.

Lindsey F.

Google
Mike - total rad guy!! Walked in and received the best service ever. It was more like friends having conversations and the whiskey, and cocktails were delicious. Felt so welcomed as soon as I came in. The distillery is in-house! Highly recommend checking them out!! Thanks Mike, it was nice to meet you and stay awhile for drinks.

Google
What a cool place!! I love the uniqueness of this Astoria Distillery and I was able to taste the whiskey, Pinot aged gin, and the coffee liquor. I LOVED the Pinot Nior aged gin; it was just so smooth and a little sweet at the end. Great place off the main road and if you’re in town I’d recommend visiting!

Molly A.

Google
What a fun experience! We loved the mini cocktails and the bartender was so friendly and knowledgeable!

Casey B.

Google

Google
I wish I could give this place 6 stars. Great distillery to visit. I am not a Gin fan but there's is amazing. The atmosphere is cool and the bartender mixed some tasty drinks. The prices are reasonable and well worth returning multiple times.

Yelp
Pilot House Distilling is filled with wonderful people and spirits. We stopped by the food pod for lunch and drinks. While I got a beer my wife if a Gin and Tonic gal which is not for me at all. Unless its Paint Lady Gin apparently! She stopped me and told me I had to try it. I rolled my eyes a little because gin is an thing you either love or hate and I am not a lover of gin but this Gin and Tonic was great! We ended up doing a flight of their Gin and the regular was still by far our favorite. We saw them at the market that weekend a purchased a bottle to bring home! Truly the best Gin I have ever had! I would also like to say as someone who runs a non profit animal rescue Pilot House Distilling donated towards our auction. I put two and two together later. Just goes to show how much they support local.

Yelp
We dropped in to do a spirit flight. Helpful and friendly bartender and interesting interpretations of gin, whiskey, and agave

Yelp
I was in Astoria on vacation 3 years ago and stopped into this wonderful spot. I celebrated the Dodger victory by opening a bottle I bought on that trip. I enjoyed it so much !!! Great taste and quality I can't wait to restock. Unfortunately they don't ship to California but I will find a way to replenish the stock.

Yelp
Pilot House Distilling had a wonderful selection of spirits, from vodka and gin to whiskey and agave. Finding Absinthe is rare, but Pilot House has it, and it's the real deal with the wormwood. They even have the absinthe pour tap, so they can do it up right. In addition to the absinthe, which I absolutely had to get, I also ordered a gin flight. My server, John, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The patrons there were all friendly. The atmosphere was comfortable and they had plenty of swag. I bought a tiny bottle of absinthe and a sweatshirt, so I would have fond memories of that fine establishment every time I wore it.

Yelp
Just a quick tip: they have extended their hours on Saturday till 9pm. Have a tasting flight and mini cocktails. No food. Great liquor and great service. A nice place to have a quiet drink before dinner.
google avatar

Taylor S.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and great service! The owner was super nice and fun to chat with! The spirits were great as well and nice to know we could also find back home! My favorite was the gin! Definitely do the flights--best way to try multiple. The barrel age stuff goes quick--can see why. The mini cocktails --such a great idea too!

Yelp
Cool little distillery with a tasting room, bar, and some snacks to go along with a flight or drinks. They have a great location, next to other breweries (like Fort George), and easy walking distance to food and other shops in downtown. They have a nice collection of different liquors to try, including a whisky and a few gins, one of which we really liked (Painted Lady iirc). The bartender was helpful and friendly, giving us history and info about their liquor and chatting while I tried a flight. Their prices are reasonable and they're fairly easy to find in liquor stores as well, just wish they were in Texas!

Yelp
*** just posted this on another pilot house in astoria but it looks like the same thing so I dont know whats up. I was shocked to see I had not reviewed it before but glad that was not the case. Here is the update*** I have been here two or three times and I will stop by every time in the future. The owner is super cool and super friendly. The spirits are excellent. Its a perfect visit. When tasting is open you are able to try any of there stuff and everything is good. I was able to try Absinthe last time we visited and I also learned i enjoy absinthe. I recommend for sure. I have a bottle of their whiskey and it will not last too long because it has become a favorite sipper. I will be back and I will grab more stuff!!

Yelp
Really wasn't expecting such a fabulous find, while wandering the side streets of Astoria, but Pilot House drew us in and wowed us, from the layout of the tasting room, to the various liquors available. We were alone when we first arrived, although other guests show up shortly afterward. It was so quiet, at first, you could hear a pin drop; I didn't even see the bartender at first, until she greeted us. We poked around and marveled at the distillery in the back at first, then browsed the menu, while our server explained the history of Pilot House's operation, as well as the various products available on the tasting menu. I settled on the $10 flight of three, selecting jalapeno lime vodka, chai tea vodka, and ocean aged whiskey. I also ponied up for the separate absinthe tasting, itself $10, because apparently I am a fan of absinthe, despite abhorring licorice flavor in all other forms. I should have asked how many times they're filtered, because each of the sampled liquors was incredibly smooth. Other than a quick hit of spice upon the first sip of the jalapeno lime, each of them went down easy. It would be hard to choose a favorite, although the chai tea vodka would probably see the most play in our house, as it would mix wonderfully in just about everything, from coffee, tea, eggnog, and whatever else we could come up with. It bears a wonderful aroma of gingerbread, and immediately warms you up! As for the other two, the ocean aged whiskey was a pleasant surprise; apparently it is aged in barrels that are stored and rotated through various ocean-faring vessels for months at a time, imparting a gentle saltiness that is almost imperceptible. The absinthe was also excellent, the bitterness of the wormwood cut down by the dissolved sugar. I would get in a lot of trouble if I had bottles of that at home! We grabbed a few bottles and mixers to go, and learned, thankfully, that there is another tasting room back home in Portland, off of Mississippi Avenue, so I expect to drop in and check that location out soon, as well!

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Great tasting liquor. Friendly pourers. Ended up buying some of their whiskey

Sudipta R.

Yelp
Friendly staff and good spirits. Casual setting will high quality spirits. They also make their own mixers like tonic and a variety of liqueur. I'm biased towards gin, and they do have a good selection. Highly recommend when in Astoria!

Yelp
We were visiting Astoria for the day and walked in. Great place! Bartender was so friendly! Had a great time talking to him..We had 3 mini cocktails, the mule, Irish cofee and snickerdoodle. All very good!
google avatar

Karin R.

Yelp
If Distillery Tasting is what you're looking for instead of breweries, you need to check this place out. They have several vodkas, gins, whiskeys, & tequilas. $3.00 tastings or 3 for $10.00. Also picked up the unique square glasses that are perfect for sipping that great drink.
google avatar

Christopher P.

Yelp
Very friendly owner/bartender who is knowledgeable about her liquor selection and also the town itself.I heard her make more than one recommendation to others as they stopped in, even if it was for someplace to get a beer instead of liquor at her distillery. The seating inside is nice although not very big so if you've got a large group, you may be out of luck. They are very dog friendly and even had a tip jar that collected donations for a dog rescue. We will definitely be coming back!

Lisa L.

Yelp
No food just yummy cocktails. Great space for a beverage. They have canned cocktails to go as well.

Yelp
I really want this review to be about how cozy and wonderful your tasting room is and how convenient it his to hop from there to other spots around town. I really want to commend your business on being a vital link to the food carts, breweries, restaurants, bars and the Liberty Theater. Unfortunately, this review is about your coffee liqueur, which tastes and finishes like paint thinner. What the hell is the matter with you? The coffee liqueur is supposed to be your softball: Your nod to the crowd that might be into you for a cordial, but may not be into your gins and vodkas (both excellent) or "whisky" (put the "e" back in there, Seamus--this ain't the old sod). It doesn't have to be sickly sweet, but it should taste of... you know... coffee. Maybe it's Thundermuck's fault: It's a diner-grade ground with just enough roast to let you know it's there. But I'd humbly suggest reformulating. Steal Westward Whiskey's old House Spirits recipe if you have to. But don't trot this thing out like it's a finished product. There's way too much heat for its purpose. Maybe relabel it for the dive bar crowd that's really into Fireball: The Chart House or Annie's will go through cases of it.

Yelp
This was first class experience. Okay we were the only ones in the house at first which was great to hear all about the distillery. I tried the gin my wife went for vodka. The gins were so smooth not a bad one out of the three . The vodka was great as well the flavors were so clean and had a smooth finish. We finished with the absinthe and it was outstanding. Bottom line we walked out with 2 gins 2 vodkas absinthe and a whisky for our son . Know we did not try it but this is a quality place . Quick note a service it was so personal and helpful everything you could have hoped for okay just go and park close or eat well before you go.

Yelp
If you're in Astoria and you like tasting spirits, stop by Pilot House! We walked in and took a seat at the high tables and the owner came over to personally greet us. He brought us samples of everything we wanted to try: absinthe, gin, a few vodkas. The drinking vinegars were very unique, I had never thought about sampling vinegars before this visit. The rhubarb vinegar was actually really good sipped alongside the sample of chocolate mint vodka. We left with a bottle of absinthe and gin...both delicious and smooth! I love visiting OR and shopping because there's no sales tax and the liquor taxes here are also cheaper than WA...good deals and good booze, what a winning combination! Be sure to give this place a visit. Well worth it and great customer service!

Yelp
Owned by a hard working couple who loves boxer dogs (they had a little donation display for a boxer rescue). The husband makes all the liquors, sometimes with a little help. The wife works the tastings. We've met both of them and they're both friendly and wonderful. The husband gave us some recommendations to eat/do while we were in town. They have awesome gin, infused vodkas that are better than homemade, and Bloody Mary mix, all made in house. They do tastings at $5 for 3 pours, and a few extra dollars for their specials, like absinthe (yes, they made it!). They also make whiskey and mezcal, I'm sure I'm missing some others. The bottle prices are very reasonable, making it difficult to avoid buying a billion bottles. The location is fantastic - hop across the street for some food carts and cider afterwards!
google avatar

Richard W.

Yelp
Friendly staff and delicious spirits. They offer nice flight options for tastings. Stop by for a flight if you are in town. You might want to bring some friends so that you can share.
google avatar

Yelp
So unfortunately the tasting room wasn't open but.. the guy behind e counter was amazing. We bought a small bottle of the reposado tequila. Omg this is amazing. The flavor is pretty close to a don Julio 1942! It's amazing. The flavor is full and has a hint of vanilla. Needless to say we went back and bought a way bigger bottle. Give this spot a try it's amazing
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
Really good absinthe hand made and served perfect! The coffee liqueur is as bomb too! Go check it out! Cool vibe too! And you can buy the goods here made right on site! :-) flights are 3 for $6! stellar deal and worth it.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Mike was an awesome host! The whisky, gin and tequila was amazing. Can't wait to try the Añejo when they have it in stock.

Yelp
Go to Astoria Go to Pilot House Pull up to the bar Forget your cares ... and let the staff (owners/creators) introduce you to a multitude of great products. Don't turn anything down as what you might not have cared for, PH could change your mind. OR what you didn't know could be a new favorite. ie let them pour you a shrub and talk about the multitude of uses. My recommendations? Oh thank you for asking, yes well, I recommend the Vodka, the limited edition Tequila, the Tomitillo (which my spell check wants to change to titillation) and Jalapeno Shrub and the their Bloody Knuckles bloody Mary mix. BOOM Next- Leave Astoria In every restaurant and liquor store ask if they carry PH and if they don't tell them to get their act together and get it ordered!

Yelp
Excellent stop! The shop is small and very friendly. They have a huge variety of alcohol. Between four of us, we tried six different hard alcohol. A flight consists of three tastes for $6. The samples were enough for four people to try. We tried a couple of different vodkas which they add the flavor to themselves. We tried the cucumber and the spicy vodka, both were excellent. We also sampled the spicy one with their house made Bloody Mary mix--so good! We also tried the whiskey as well as the gin, ultimately we bought one of the gins, both were excellent. This was a great stop, I would definitely recommend a stop by when in Astoria.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Saw that Pilot House Distilling had some good whiskey options and was driving through Astoria on the way home from Cannon Beach. The guy gave us decent sized samples of the three whiskeys. I loved them and I purchased three bottles total. I will be back for this high quality delicious bourbon!
google avatar

Tom T.

Yelp
Great place. The owner/distiller was friendly, knowledgeable and eager to speak about his products. When I visited, they had rum, tequila, whiskey, coffee liquor, aquavit, two types of gin, more types of vodka than I can remember and even absinthe. The three glass (not plastic thimbles) sampler included large pours. Quality was excellent. It's fairly quiet inside and there are a couple of armchairs in addition to the regular bar-stools, so it's a nice place to relax if you've been walking all day. They allow dogs.
google avatar

Yelp
What a little treasure! We happened to wander in because we were parked right in front. We were with friends on a road trip down the coast. We were visiting from AZ and we a love a good gin and tonic, we had just packed an ice chest for the beach a couple of miles south. The wonderful woman suggested the gin and tonic in a can. We were a tad skeptical, but we bought a four pack. When we finally reached our destination in Newport we sat on the beach, squeezed some lime into the can and were pleasantly surprised! Actually tasted like a g & t! Our only problem now is figuring out how to get them in Az sitting by the pool! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Ashley Y.

Yelp
Was a great spot to try some good spirits! The guy we talked to was very nice and friendly. I can't wait to try the premixed Moscow mule canned cocktails.
google avatar

Monica D.

Yelp
What a great experience! The owner helped us with our tasting flight and was so helpful and wonderful. He was attentive to all his customers and very knowledgeable. We were excited to buy a couple bottles. There is a large verity of alcohol styles and each one unique and very good. It was great to see such a creative outlook on spirits.
google avatar

jilly c.

Yelp
Very kind and friendly owners; great spirits to taste with generous pours. We tried the Absinthe (a first for us) and it was really nice! Great small business to support. It's a little off the main street, and worth finding for locally made liquors.
google avatar

Ali G.

Yelp
Yes, Yes, Yes!!! I am visiting from out of town and tasted the gin at the Sunday market. The guy mentioned that they have a tasting room. So after the market, I went over and got to taste the gin, a few vodkas, and the blood mary mix. Literally (and I mean that), literally everything I sampled was amazing. I ended up with the flower gin (can't recall the name, but it's not as dry as the other one), the jalapeño vodka, the body mary mix and a bottle of a shrub drink (it's like vinegar and has no alcohol). I wish I had more time to try everything, but I was short on time. Good thing though, I probably would have bought everything else that I tried. LOL Worth a stop in. I wish I could order online, but now I have another reason to come up to Astoria. :)
google avatar

Jeanne Z.

Yelp
I loved this place, it is well worth making the trek out to Astoria for. The host (Larry) is very warm and friendly and makes it a very comfortable drinking environment, he is a great host. I started out my flight with the painted lady gin and he gave me a side-by-side comparison with the bar pilot Gin (a more traditional Gin). And,I loved the painted lady, it was really bright and flavorful--we ultimately ended up buying a bottle of it, because it was so delicious and unique. I also had fun trying the infused vodka's, they went really well with the house-made drinking vinegars, that was really fun. Next time I go back we will probably buy a bottle of vodka and it's recommended drinking vinegar. But, for today we just had fun tasting! The owner's name is Larry S. Carry or Larry-Scary and I'm told he has a dog that often frequents the tasting room as well, that would make it extra cool!
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Goodness..we sampled the absinthe, painted lady gin and orange ginger vinegar. Kristina was terrific in sharing with us. We purchased jalapeno vodka, strawberry balsamic vinegar to enjoy together. Looking forward to learning more ways to pair vinegar with cocktails.
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
This was a highlight of our trip to Astoria. Amazingly good drinks across the board especially the canned cocktails. Incredibly friendly owner/operator let us bring our dog in and brought out the treats. We wound up walking away with three bottles and some canned cocktails! Really nice hardworking people making a really really great local product.
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
This place has excellent spirits, a passionate owner and great location in Astoria. We love the cucumber vodka, the Coffe liqueur and the A-O Whiskey. About to try their Absinthe.
google avatar

Howard B.

Yelp
Wide variety of distilled spirits, including absinthe. A-O whiskey was really good/smoothe. Try the spicy Bloody Mary mix.
google avatar

Angel T.

Yelp
The reason this place has so many amazing reviews is because it is AMAZING! You can tell that time is taken perfecting each spirit. The Agave (let's face it, it's Tequila) was so smooth you could easily drink it on its own. Very friendly staff, and drinking vinegars...what?! LOVE IT! Will be back again!
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
Great distilling house. Very friendly. Generous. Good tasting liquors. Love the atmosphere. Very generous. I would highly recommend to anyone who is traveling through Astoria.
google avatar

Katie D.

Yelp
We were visiting Astoria for the first time and wandered into this place. We had a great time! We had a great time chatting with the wonderful owner and enjoyed the delicious spirits. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
My wife and I stumbled upon this place while visiting Astoria. We stopped in in the early afternoon and initially we're the only ones there. We talked with the owner as we sampled various flights. She was very kind and engaging and explain so much about what they do and Astoria itself. We ended up buying a bottle of their coffee liquor and sipping vinegar. After tasting everything they offered we could have easily bought much, much more. Great spot and would recommend anyone to stop in!
google avatar

Robert K.

Yelp
Great distillery! All of the spirits we tried were excellent. The tasting room is very comfortable and they are dog friendly.

Mark F.

Yelp
Top notch. Larry is a fantastic host and happy to walk you through all the details of his process and the great spirits he makes. Definitely worth stopping in for a few sips of vodka or the Painted Lady Gin (my fav).
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
I love this place. Their vodka is to die for. I even like their tequila and tequila and I aren't friends. Their vinegars are delicious and so good in a variety of uses (marinades along with beverages). And Larry and Christina are so knowledgeable and patient with all of my annoying questions. I will gladly make the trip from Portland to Astoria for their product!
google avatar

Lori H.

Yelp
This place had awesome house made drinking vinegars to pair with even more awesome house infused liquor!! It doesn't get any better. Try the autumn apple vinegar with the chai vodka... Tastes like spiced cider, but with a delightful boozey twist! My favorite--but you should try them all. Seriously. Go. Do it. Now. ;)
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
Phenomenal. No kidding. Larry was as informative as he was gracious. Keep an eye out in this place, they have incredible mixes coming out.
google avatar

Kayla T.

Yelp
Best place in Astoria by far. Larry is wonderful and makes the place worth the visit!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Don't miss this distillery. If you're planning on checking out the town, make this one of your stops, you'll be glad you did. Great drinks there and great bottles to take home for yourself or as the perfect gift.
google avatar

Sally M.

Yelp
Let me preface this review by saying that I don't drink. I came here on a Thursday afternoon in search of a gift for someone who likes alcohol. The shop is small and has a nice intimate atmosphere, lovely decor. The guy behind the bar immediately greeted me, which was appreciated since he had been chatting with a girl at the bar. He was friendly and patient with all my questions that probably sounded dumb. I purchased a bottle of the jalapeño lime vodka for $30 and the transaction was quick and easy..they use Square on a tablet to run credit cards. They have an interesting selection of flavored vodka, including cocoa mint, cucumber, and chai, gins, and drinking vinegars ("shrubs") - although they were out of them during my visit. The guy was also nice about offering samples. Looks like a fun place to grab a drink with a friend! No food.
