Pilsner Urquell: The Original Beer Experience

The Original Beer Experience is an outstanding and genuinely educational experience for anyone who respects beer culture. The Tapster Academy gourmet tour lasts about one hour and is extremely well structured, informative, and enjoyable. Our tour was led by Tap Master Roman Lotter, who was excellent — highly knowledgeable, passionate about beer, and spoke very clear, fluent English, making the experience easy to follow and engaging. You learn proper Czech pouring styles, beer history, and the craftsmanship behind Pilsner Urquell, not just theory but real technique. The tasting is generous and well explained, and the atmosphere is professional yet relaxed. This is not a tourist gimmick — it’s authentic, traditional, and done properly. Truly a very nice experience and absolutely worth it.

A brilliant place to visit, we went on the 14th Feb 2026 the tour was good (audio headphones). Our highlight was the valentines lunch (5 courses) paired with 5 beers in a privet bar with a sommelier who was fabulous. I have no idea how you spell his name but it began with a K if he reads this he had lots of tattoos a girlfriend from Prague and he came from the USA. He’s went above and beyond as when we got there, I didn’t like anything on the menu (I’m just fussy) I ended up with the most amazing burger and chips however my husband thoroughly enjoyed the five courses from the menu. The beers were amazing Kay was very knowledgeable and made it great fun as we were the only two for the lunch. I won’t spoil it but you get an amazing little gift at the end as well for two people. It was €185. Which I think was an absolute bargain for the amount of food the amount of beer plus we got money off in the shop and some cool little coins to go to the main bar to purchase more beer. If you love beer or not a massive beer drinker I still highly recommend this tour and if you can definitely do the food experience as well. Again thank you so much K

We have done big experiences like Heineken and Guinness and this was at the top! Amazingly well done. The self-guided tour alone is quality, but we added to tapster experience and it was 100% worth it! If you love beer, you must add that and get the education (and extra beers!). Silvan (spelling?) was our instructor and he was fantastic?

If you have time and enjoy beer, especially good beer like Pilsener Urquell! this is a place worth visiting. Interesting exhibition, audio history in headphones, and a cheerful atmosphere. A pleasant stroll through Pilsner history in the Czech Republic. But for me, the highlight was the wonderful people, especially Angad – incredibly friendly and kind. He answered all my questions with full knowledge and patient😉🙂 On the end of my trip I went to the pub downstairs and unexpectedly I attempt to drink a milk beer in less than 4 seconds... unsuccessful :-/ ... 7 ... sprinkled with interesting conversations with the staff and guests. Visited late one afternoon, hadn’t pre-booked but you can buy tickets at the door on a self-service machine. The tickets are for time slots and we were lucky that the closest time was available, but the one after was sold out, so if this is on your list it may be best to book, otherwise you can take a chance. The tour part is via an audio headset with many languages available, not too short and not too long, a few interesting bits of info along the way and good visuals to keep it interesting. A quick beer tasting is included and then you end up at the bar where you have a couple of drinks included with your entry. They also sell food and drink, we didn’t eat, but from what I could see the food looked pretty good and the prices were fair. Gift shop on the way out which is great if you want some branded glassware etc. Overall, I think the price is okay considering you get a beer taster and then two others within the tour price. I think the extra experiences they offer are probably quite good and would take it to the next level.

Although a bit shorter than I expected, it was really great - the presentation was really modern, interactive and intuitive (propably this is the reason that it seemed short 🫣). The audioguide is very modern as well and with good response in room changes (very minor glitches). The final bar / sitting area was spacious (beer hall style) and the food was really good as well. Totally worth the money and the time - we saved this for last after we checked out and seemed that we chose wisely, it was the perfect farewell activity from Prague.

The beer tasting at the end is definitely a highlight — fresh, perfectly poured, and included in the experience. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, adding extra value with interesting facts and tips. I highly recommend buying your ticket online in advance. It saves time, helps you avoid queues (especially during peak tourist season), and sometimes offers better availability for preferred time slots. A great bonus is that in some packages you can use the same ticket for a Prague river cruise, making it an excellent value combination. Pairing the museum visit with a relaxing cruise on the Vltava River is a perfect way to experience Prague from two different perspectives in one day.

Not sure why there are high reviews for this on both Yelp and Google Reviews; I thought it was an incredibly middling and overpriced experience. For the cost of nearly $30 USD, you get an audio recording tour of a beer "museum" complete with some lame graphics and a tasting that consisted of beer with mainly foam, which they said enhanced the flavor but seemed like a way of cheating out on a full pour. It's not the brewery either, so don't expect to see anything related to the actual brewing process. If you want to try Pilsner Urquell, you can do so a lot cheaper at any bar nearby, which is what this basically was. 2 stars instead of 1 because the bathrooms were pristine and the space itself is really nice with plenty of seating and free WiFi.

We loved the Beer Experience! We booked this tour last minute for 11 am on a Saturday. It was raining so this was a perfect way to spend a couple of hours. We arrived early and walked around the gift shop a bit. They had an amazing amount of merchandise. Much of it very useful and some of it is also engravable and they have an engraver onsite. I bought a t-shirt. At 11 am, we started our tour. It starts on the second floor (level 1). There are stair and there are lifts. The experience is about a number of things: 1. Perusing their extensive merchandise in there gift shop 2. Learning about Pilsner Urquell, their history and the history of beer and beer making 3. Beer tasting 4. Hanging out on the third floor (level 2) for more beer, some food if you'd like (purchase) and games (foos ball) Back to item 2, they told their beer and beer making story, by using an audio track with your language on comfortable wireless headphones and by the use of visuals projected on the walls. As you walked through the halls, your headphones knew where you were and the audio guide was tailored to the presentation you were seeing on the walls. It was super well done. About half way through, there was a stop at a bar for your first of 3 included beer tastes. These were maybe .2L mugs. At the end of this part of the experience, you're given a 10% off coupon for the gift shop and 2 beer tokens, then you head up a level where you can use supplied tokens at the bar for what I feel were full .5L mugs of beer. There were foos ball tables, plenty of seating and large WCs. Front one of the beertenders, we ordered a Pretzel. We paid for it at the bar and 10 minutes later, a fresh, hot pretzel and mustard was delivered to where we were sitting. We toured a number of Beer Experiences around the world. This was a real good one.

Pilsner Urquell has a strong taste to it and they are proud of their "foam" which they claim adds more beer if you wait for it :) yep there are several versions you try on the tour so that was a plus. The history party was a little hokey but they wanted to connect the dots. The actual end result are the components to the recipe and they have this squared away. After the tour you have coupons for a few beers, can order more with some food. There is lots to see in Prague and if you enjoy beer this is worth the visit. Open daily from 10:00-20:30.

Audio tour with an interesting vibe. I wouldn't call it a brewery tour though. Mainly get the history and timeline of the making of Pilsner Urquell throughout the years with an audio-visual journey. You get 2 beers included at the end of the tour. It was not my favorite brewery experience but not the worst way to spend 2 hours in Prague. If you're only looking to try the beer, there's a lot of better options in Prague.

Part museum, part bar. Decided to go to Prague and was surprised that there was a beer museum / bar. This place had a convenient QR code system where you could book a time to take the tour. The tour itself is located on the second floor. When you arrive at the entrance, the greeter will ask you what language setting for the audio tour. It takes about 20-30 minutes to complete the tour and will end with a tasting of their beer as well as tokens for 2 1/2 pints of beer. Then you will end at their beer hall where you can purchase locale dishes and where you can use the beer tokens. The dishes are made to order and work will with the beer. There is also a gift shop with all the items that a beer lover could want. You could even have things engraved. This place is definitely worth visiting even if you are not a beer lover.

All of it... best beer tour I have ever been on for the best pilsner in the world. Run don't walk to this tour... you will not regret it.

While nothing close to the actual brewery, the bar here does a top job of delivering the freshest Pilsner as the brewer intended. The beer glasses are impeccably cleaned and rinsed to give you that remarkable lacing with each quaff. You can actually count how many drinks it took to finish your beer on the side of the glass. But the real treat is that fresh, hop aroma and crisp dry finish of a malt forward Pilsner beer.

This was a last minute decision to do and we are really happy we did! The tour was super interesting and told us a lot about the beer's history. We also did the Tapster Academy, which was awesome. We learned how to pour the beer there different ways. Our tapster guide was amazing and full of energy. The store also had a great selection!
