Best Restaurants, Bars, and Breweries Along the Burke-Gilman Trail | Eater Seattle

"Located near the Ballard/Fremont border, this shop-cafe hybrid offers skilled hands for a variety of bike repairs and fuel for the ride. Cyclists can swing by for an annual tune up, and browse bike parts and accessories while waiting, from festive pedals to functional bags and helmets. There’s also a convenient drive thru window for tea and coffee (made with Ravenna-based Seven beans), as well as pastries, sandwiches, bagels, and other snacks." - Kelly Knickerbocker

We love Cycle & Coffee (we still call it PIM though haha)! We used to live across the street, but now that we've moved, we still go out of our way to come here. Friendly staff, delicious coffee (from local Seven Coffee Roasters) & lotus drinks, baked goods/sammies from Alki Bakery (I think), & great bike gear/service. Big bonus that they have a drive through. Lebowski rates them 10/10 (and not just because they have treats).

My early morning veggie breakfast prayers have been answered! Sophie and Tori were incredibly helpful when i was deciding between the abundance of plant based breakfast options. Vegan burritos, vegan tacos, vegan cream cheese oh my! I settled on the vegan breakfast sandwich with a brown sugar cinnamon oat latte. It is a drive thru joint however as someone who has been in 3rd wave coffee for over 5 years.. that was very well worth the price and arguably one of the tastier beverages ballard can offer. Im sure the omnivores love it too. I dont even have a bike but i might have to get one so i can further support these folks! The good in life can be found in your own back yard sometimes :,) Even the kitty cant tell its not meat!

Stopped by here this past Monday to buy a water bottle, I forgot to bring one with me on my trip to Seattle. Luckily, they had some, but nothing fancy. I also got a mocha since I was here. Friendly people. Should check them out when you're in Seattle.

I went to get my bike built here by Chris, and it was truly one of the greatest experiences I've ever had at a bike shop. He was super enthusiastic about the project and made some spectacular design choices with and for me that I wouldn't have thought of. The bike rides like a dream and I will absolutely be taking all of my bikes back to him for build, repair, and everything in between. Can not recommend enough AND they're right on the Burke Gilman! Additionally, I'm long overdue for a review of the actual coffee shop and all of the incredible people there. Always so fast, incredibly friendly, give my dog, Walter, a lot of love whenever he comes in and I love their breakfast sandwiches and other food. Love love love this place, would miss it if we moved.

When you think you’re a DIY bike mechanic… but your brakes say otherwise. 😅 I thought I could assemble my bike myself (YouTube made it look so easy). Fast forward to me wobbling down the street like a baby deer on wheels, clearly in need of help. Thankfully, I happened to pass by Cycle & Coffee Inc and felt like I found buried treasure. Ed was an angel on two wheels. He took the time to chat with me, kindly assessed the situation, and made some much-needed adjustments right then and there. I immediately booked a full service appointment. Huge thanks to Ed and the team for saving my ride (and probably my life). 10/10 would recommend. Don't have a bike? No problem, they're also a coffee shop with little treats and knick-knacks!

Google
I only ordered a coffee but they off had a lot of food options that looks pretty good. Extremely fast and friendly service. I had my drink ready before I finished paying. I'll definitely stop by again when I drop my car off at Superior Auto Service.

Brought my bike in for a repair, Chris was super helpful and knowledgeable. Best experience I've ever had with a bike repair! Coffee was great too -- this place is an amazing pre/post/mid-ride pit stop.

Google
I adore this place with all my heart!! I’m usually speeding through the drive-thru as I’m late to work, and I’m always so impressed and delighted by the staff—they’re all so friendly and kind, and still really quick! How do they do it??! And the coffee is always delicious. I feel so lucky to have this spot in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Located just off the Burke-Gilman Trail, this shop repairs bikes and services newbies and veteran pedal-pushers alike. I am the former, with a bike that had gathered dust for a few years, and after a couple of YouTube videos, I decided to adjust my Derailleur. I made a complete mess of it and decided to take it to the pros. Enter Mike--the bike whisperer! He was able to look at it right away and offered to talk me through it or fix it and send me on my way. As he worked, I took him up on narrating the process, and he put me through a quick Derailleur 101 course! I feel much more confident working on and riding my bike after that, and I will be returning for any future bike/coffee needs.

Yelp
Awesome Neighborhood Bike Shop, I Was In Need Of A Brake Repair. So I Stopped In For A Back Disc Brake Repair On My Specialized Rockhopper, Ed The Service Tech Had It Finished Within 30 Minutes, And Operating Smoothly. Great Service And Reasonable Prices. Definitely A Go To Bike Shop Right Next To The Burke Gilman Trail, The Shop Also Has A Cafe Inside For A Quick Espresso, Coffee And Cold Drinks.

Yelp
Ed is the man! I stopped on in for a flat repair today, and felt really welcome great costumer service and some amazing coffee! They have a nice deck out side while you wait for your coffee or your bike to be ready! I'm hooked and for sure coming back! Amazing

Tewodros K.

Yelp
That coffee was so good, it made my taste buds do a happy dance. I highly recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
Top notch coffee and a surprisingly fast drive thru considering the consistent high quality. Everyone that works here is so lovely and makes me feel welcome every time. Thanks to C&C for being a neighborhood staple!!

Yelp
I've always passed by when I'm in Ballard and glad I finally tried it. They have lots of coffee flavors. I wanted something with pumpkin and they gave me a great recommendation of a pumpkin with Carmel iced coffee that I enjoyed! My brother also commented on how they good breakfast tacos. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Great little coffee shop that has a drive thru! My barista was very helpful and made drink recommendations. They sell cool stickers at the counter for $1 I grabbed a few to take home. I did not see many coffee shops with a drive thru besides Starbucks. Didn't see if they sold any food but it doesn't look like they have a kitchen.

Yelp
above and beyond customer service...called looking a bike part... did not have the part but took my number in case they found one! The part that broke made my saddle unusable! I got a call back and they offered to disassemble the saddle they had on display so I could have the part.... amazing! Thank you!!!!!

Yelp
It's a cute spot and convenient drive thru but every time I go through the drive through they consistently mess up my order. It's great because there aren't a lot of drive through coffee spots in the area but it's so frustrating how often them mess up my order
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
A great local bike shop, right off the Burke-Gilman, which has gotten me out of two recent jams (a flat tire and a worn-out brake pad) with no notice, in about 15 minutes each time. Fair prices and friendly service, and their early hours are great for people like me who can stop off on the way to work. Recommended!

Yelp
Great coffee and friendly service. Such a refreshing pit stop compared to other local coffee places. I ordered a caramel latte with oat milk. Delicious!!

Yelp
I love a good cup of coffee especially from Little independent coffee shops. And I found this small independent coffee shop taking my son to work there's services friendly I usually go through drive-thru but since drive-thru was packed I decided to go in I seen their furry wall of fame!! They also serve breakfast and lunch and it's just a nice spot to go and to have a good cup of coffee my favorite I order is a cortado I don't even have to give specifics it's just enough for me and taste heavenly .. There is a small parking lot and you can get in and get out quickly coffee shop is also located in a pretty good area that's convenient there's a car wash gas stations and a Fred Meyer in the area. Enjoy!!

Yelp
The old guy who works at the bicycle shop doesn't have any customer service skills. He also don't take care of customer bicycle property. I took my tire in for a flat tube replacement. My rim are black and in excellent condition. In the process of replacing my tube he left a huge cut mark that curve around and under my rim. As if there was a sharp curve knife used since it's a perfect cut into the metal of rim. I cannot recommend this place for your bike repairs if the old guy is working on your bicycle...
google avatar

Yelp
Bike service was affordable, timely, and thorough. After the assembly was complete, bike tech Tommy adjusted the seat and added grease (due to rustiness) free of charge. Good vibes all around
google avatar

Dennis S.

Yelp
They are incredibly friendly here! We brought our son's bike in and, because it was a minor fix, they were able to get to it right away. The staff joked with our boys the whole time. Definitely going back.

Yelp
The brakes on my e-bike were getting squishy, so instead of trusting my life to a YouTube video, I rode to 3 different well-reviewed shops in Fremont/Ballard. The first place told me they don't work on e-bikes at all ("not even to adjust the brakes"), the second place told me they had a 2 month wait for service ("but yeah we're definitely a walk-in shop"), and then I found Cycle and Coffee. At Cycle and Coffee, a friendly mechanic came out and spent 60s adjusting my brake arm tensioners and showing me how to do it myself, and refused to take any money. Coffee was good too. Will absolutely be back here for all my future maintenance and to buy my next bike.
google avatar

Kelcie Lei A.

Yelp
The baristas here are always so nice! My vanilla oat latte is always PERFECTION. Drive-thru available. Breakfast items include burritos, breakfast sandwiches, some pastries. Hot sauce available. Super accessible if you're on a walk/bike ride on Burke Gilman or if you're driving down Leary. Quaint little outdoor patio, if you'd like to stay and chill. No indoor seating from the last time I was outside. Also a bike shop! In case your bike breaks down or need some parts.

Natalie A.

Yelp
Trust that this spot is the best place to get your bike worked on. 10/10 customer service and my bike rides like brand new! Highly recommend this place over any other. Dropped in on a Saturday morning, had coffee while I waited, and was out within 20min. The people here are lovely and I learned a lot about bike maintenance as they walked me through the process. Go support if you know what's good!
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
My day was almost ruined when my tube valve snapped off. I took it to PIM and they replaced it in a snap and refused to charge me. Besides being a great bike shop, they also are a wonderful cafe. They serve coffee from local roaster Se7en and have lots of pastries and seating.
google avatar

Brooke W.

Yelp
I go out of my way to come by here at least once a week. Staff is so incredibly friendly and coffee is amazing. Driv thru is a huge bonus! Plus, they take cute little photos of your pet and post them outside around the order window.. so sweet!
google avatar

Meghan T.

Yelp
Small patio for eating just with a bar, no tables. Great place to grab a quick coffee and a burrito on the go.
google avatar

Rich P.

Yelp
Everyone who works here is great! I stopped by for coffee and to get some lube to try and solve a bike squeak issue. A staff member whose name I didn't catch heard us outside troubleshooting the issue and offered to help! He solved the issue which we would not have been able to ourselves - all free of charge! They'll be my go to for anything bike related in the future!
google avatar

I R O R O O.

Yelp
This is gem of a coffeehouse. Delightful baristas, groovy decor and some of the most perfectly-pulled espresso drinks that I've had in this fair city. I can't emphasize this latter point enough! I'll be back! 5 Stars!!!
google avatar

Jesse P.

Yelp
What a cool spot. Good food, cheap. And nice people. Not to mention, an awesome place to get your bike worked on. Check it out :)
google avatar

Bryce W.

Yelp
Great coffee here! They have the COOLEST stickers!!! The staff are really funny and nice too which is always enjoyable
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
Hey man AWESOME! We came in with a simple bike issue and the sweet and knowledgeable staff was SO friendly and just...ugh! We had a great conversation about race and were offered a sweet confection for free. SO SWEET! Also there is a dope mural in the drive thru alley!
google avatar

Kari R.

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop before I tackle the rest of the Burke Gilman trail. Great coffee (glad they offer alternative mills) and amazing baristas. I've never used the bike services but love the concept.
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
Love that there is a rad little coffee shop located a stones throw from the trail. Next to a popular biking neighborhood, this location makes total sense for people who need a quick calorie/caffeine boost or something for your ride. They carry a variety of bikes and accessories, so you're probably going to be able to find something there if you need it. My local bike shop typically takes care of everything I need, but it is a comfort to have good people with the resources to help me on the go. Usually, I'm getting food somewhere else, but the oat milk lattes here are wonderful, especially on a colder morning when you may not have brought the best gloves for that days weather. They have plenty of parking and usually have a more cafe feel when not under pandemic lock down. Hopefully it becomes a more social hub than I've seen during lockdowns.
google avatar

Jezebel P.

Yelp
This place is wonderful, a tucked away little drivethru featuring coffee, tea, chai, and a whole variety of treats. I always get their iced chai w coconut syrup and coconut milk. This drink was customized by myself with their staff & is now my favourite. Speaking of their staff, they are the loveliest ppl ever and exceedingly patient. Everyone i've ever brought here was as impressed as i've been.
google avatar

Yelp
While we were in Seattle, this was the only coffee place we went more than once...and we went three times! I got a butter pecan latte once and the dirty horchata twice (once with almond milk and once with oat milk). My husband tried the dulce de leche, a PSL, and a maple latte. Everything was amazing. I would drink a dirty horchata with Pat milk any time, anywhere!!

Anne Marie S.

Yelp
I dropped off my bike for a tuneup and was blown away by the thorough work that Tommy did on my bike. He went above and beyond to look into issues, fix them, and even used replacement parts that matched the color scheme of my bike! They will do a follow up tune for free when the new cables stretch a bit and were so nice throughout the whole experience. Will definitely return for any bike issues!
google avatar

Yelp
soooo yummy & good prices ! I have never been inside but the drive through is great. The coffee is soooo good & the breakfast sandwiches are bomb

Yelp
Ok, first of all, I'm not a cyclist, nor am I a fan of them. However, this place was recommended by a friend who met up with me at the Seattle Biscuit Co. (see my rave review on that). The coffee was excellent, local small business, and the barista was friendly. The second time around, I took another friend to Seattle Biscuit Co. and took them here afterwards. We were served by the owner's daughter who made our drinks very tasty! She was kind, funny, and a good conversationalist. Her coffee skills are also on point. I think you see the pattern, go to Seattle Biscuit Co., then come to PIM's for coffee and maybe some bike stuff. :) Support local always!

Yelp
Cycling along the Burke Gilman toward Ballard I heard some squeaks coming from my bottom bracket. I stumbled upon this shop and was met by Ed. He immediately took my bike and looked into the issue. To look closer into the problem he jumped on my bike and took it for a stroll. We discovered the bracket was fine, but my pedals were the issue with the squeaks. Ed recommended new pedals and shoes. His level of customer service guaranteed that I will be returning to the shop.

Yelp
During COVID, it's nice to literally drive up (or walk up, or ride your bike or camel) and grab a darn good tasting cold coffee. It's hot hot outside these days. They have great milk options as well. Oat (my fave because of it's creaminess), soy, and almond. The drive thru baristas are masked up and quick with your order. (please be masked upon your arrival as well. They have some light snacks upon drive up, and even doggy treats if your four legged friend is your passenger. They are always pleasant and witty. Nice (esp. before my caffeine). It's attached to a bike shop, so if you crave a bit of caffeine while getting your chains fixed....
google avatar

Yelp
This review is for the coffee/food- I've never had my bike serviced here. (though I would!) I stop in two or so times per week via car for a cup of coffee and occasionally a breakfast sandwich if I have the time. Service is always top-notch. These folks ALWAYS work hard to ensure the experience is safe in Covid times. The iPad they run cards on is sanitized, as is the card and anything touched by associates. I've observed this cautious behavior for nearly six months now, and can't overstate how much I appreciate it. I have never seen them get lax on it, which is incredible. Coffee is great- if I'm driving I'm usually in a hurry and get drip coffee. Sometimes I'll get a sausage breakfast sandwich, I love the chewy ciabatta and crispy cheese. If I have the time I sometimes walk over with my partner and get espresso drinks or cold brew. I'm glad they have oat milk, and they always make sure the doggo gets a treat, which is always appreciated. 10/10 experience all around. THANK YOU PIM for such excellent service and coffee. It's clear that a lot of thought and love goes into running this place. I would feel comfortable bringing my bike here, and if I do I'll add another review!
google avatar

Kristin M.

Yelp
Great location and huge plus that they have a drive thru window. Haven't used the bike shop yet but what a great location. They have coffee, pastries and good prices for the area. I'll definitely be back or swing by when I'm out for ride.
google avatar

Alejandra V.

Yelp
I'm honestly really excited to write this review as my first of the year for two reasons: A) I just moved into the neighborhood and live right down the street from this place. B) I've experienced some of the friendliest customer service here since living in Seattle. The most exciting part about PIM is that they have a drive-thru coffee stand, meaning that I can stop by before work in the mornings, or walk down the street if I'm feeling like a random cup of Joe, or pop in to grab a quick bite during our recent "telework" days. I experienced some of the sweetest customer service during my first visit yesterday from two baristas in the drive-thru -- they were genuinely friendly, asked about my day etc etc, but also were so sweet to my dog & invited us to visit in the future as they're a pet-friendly establishment. We had a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich & I got a cup of their drip coffee -- overall we were impressed with the tasty made-to-order sandwiches & I loved the taste of their coffee. All in all, I'm very excited to have found my new coffee spot with friendly employees, good coffee, and overall good vibes!

Kelsey C.

Yelp
My favorite local coffee shop! Staff are always super friendly and their lattes are made to perfection
google avatar

Alanna M.

Yelp
Cant say enough good things about PIM. I know nothing about bikes. If they didn't know I know nothing about bikes they surely figured it out quickly when i rolled in with a bike with tags still on it. Finding a bike in Seattle is hard right now, so when i found one at Target i ran to get it but still wanted to make sure it was safe since i live in a super steep hilled area. Ed took it in right away and got it back to me the next day which was amazing. Apparently whoever built it only hand tightened it, so Ed said it was smart to bring it by. (I saw too many reviews of people having the wheel fall off or getting hurt after buying a bike at Target, etc and NOT getting it tuned up) They were very kind and friendly. No talking down to me or judging me for my complete lack of knowledge (which my friends have dealt with at other shops). Ed even saw me struggle to load my bike into a tiny rental car and offered to help. Again, super kind of them! If the friendliness, speed, and understanding aren't enough to bring you in, they also have an amazing little coffee shop inside. If you have a bike, want a bike, or just want a good coffee, head over to PIM.

Saki B.

Yelp
Been there many times for my e-bikes (American & Japanese made) and our kids bikes. Great service and great people. Reasonable price too. Never felt pressure to buy more. Highly recommend to anyone who owns bikes in Seattle!
google avatar

Meena M.

Yelp
I've come into this bike shop a handful of times since purchasing my bike and this shop has been my saving grace. Tommy one of the bike experts always greets me with a smile and has been extremely patient with all of my questions. Many of the minor issues I've taken my bike in for have been repaired without charge! They really do feel like a neighborhood shop. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Max B.

Yelp
These folks ROCK!! Super friendly staff, lots of good bike gear (was pleasantly surprised to find a wide assortment of accessories when the space seemed so tiny!). Tons of vegan snacks and goodies as well. Came here for a pit stop after a 40 mile ride and was relieved to get some sustenance that was plant boi friendly. Definitely gonna be coming here more often! Please keep doing what y'all do!!!!
google avatar

Delaney L.

Yelp
Very poor experience at a new-to-us local coffee stand. Coffee is sub-par but service was really not great. We were told they were out of 16 oz cups so our 16 oz coffees would be in the 12 oz container with less ice. Hmmm... My friend's coffee was sour on further review. Won't be returning sadly but hope they improve
google avatar

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
This review is for the cafe. I went today with my friend and we both got red bull italian sodas (not on the menu but they do have these)! I got guava passionfruit. The baristas were super friendly and fast. They do put a straw in your drink so if you don't want one be sure to say something when they're making the drink!
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
Beep beep! Drive up, your bike, your car. Order fresh sandwiches, goodies, & of course delicious espresso. Ord your fav, or let them surprise U. Smart, savvy Baristas. DANNY our FAV! Also a bike shop, full services, accessories & of course some neato electric bikes. Beep Beep! TY PIM!

Yelp
Update 2/15/20: Thanks to a crappy driver who was driving in the bike lane by the new PCC, I crashed a couple days ago and bent my handlebars. I brought my bike in today and it was fixed up within two hours! Seriously, I majorly recommend this place. -------------- PIM has helped me multiple times since I bought my used bike last year, but I'm finally giving them a shoutout for the tune-up they did this past weekend. I have an 80s Sekai that's been through who knows how many past riders and a lot of Seattle rain/decomposed pine needles/construction gravel lately, so I was honestly a little ashamed bringing my bike in after riding in the muck on Saturday! That didn't matter to the repair crew at PIM at all - they were super friendly and didn't mind the state of my bike one bit (tires nearly flat, gear shifters out of whack, chain looked like it had seen the apocalypse...). I said I needed it by Tuesday, but surprise! By Sunday afternoon I had gotten a text saying my bike was already done. Ran down there to pick it up and had a nice chat with the guy who fixed my bike up (good luck to your daughter on her college apps!). Post tune-up, I'd say my bike feels like new, except it's actually older than I am. My regular ride has now gone from an almost 30m slog to a 17m dash. I even thought for a minute that they had replaced my chain, because I've literally never seen it that shiny before, and I could actually shift on a hill again without mfalling off. Looking forward to coming back to PIM the next time I need bike help
google avatar

Austin N.

Yelp
I am super new to the area and got incredible service and advice regarding biking in the city!
google avatar

Mackenzie V.

Yelp
I've stopped here a few times for coffee and the occasional breakfast sandwich. There aren't many drive-thru coffee establishments in the area (besides Starbucks) so this is super convenient. I love that they make an effort to make the experience personable. They are even so sweet to give my dog treats. The employees wear gloves and sanitize the surfaces, including the iPad used for payment, between each customer. I've tried a few different coffees and food items and they are always top notch!
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
PIM is the best. Being right on the Burke, I often stop for a coffee on my way to work, and more than once they've been able to take care of an issue on my bike while I sit and have my coffee. This place is a real asset to Seattle's bike community. Stop by for a coffee and some service sometime soon.
