"This casual Haitian restaurant is on the edge of Wilton Manors and serves some of the best griot in Broward. Whether you’re biting into a lean piece, a fatty piece, or a bit of crackling, every part of the pig is crisp on the outside and meltingly tender inside. The griot is perfect on its own, but the pikliz are also exceptional—made with a combination of citrus and vinegar. Piman also serves other fritay, like tassot, along with Haitian staples like legim and poul nan sòs. They have some indoor seating, but most people get their food to go." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo

First off, it’s in a plaza that is easily overlooked. When you walk In, you can feel the Haitian vibe. You can smell the epiz aroma as soon as you walk in so I didn’t doubt the flavor. When I walked in, I grabbed a menu and sat down. Because I’m of Haitian decent, I knew what to expect, very minimal customer service. Like most Haitian spots, it’s wise to order before you come in. I ordered my food in creole. I got the Tassot Cabrit Complete. It was excellent to be honest. A little pricier than what I’m used to paying for but it was worth it. I’ll be back to try other menu options if I’m in the area. Not a bad spot.

Google
Place looks dirty, griot has NO seasoning, but the server was a nice lady. Too bad she wasn’t the cook.

prized treasure

Google
Legumes had a burnt taste, like it was cooked in a pot that was burned on the bottom. The brown rice and beans were good. The fried plantains were good.

Love this place! Griot has great flavor and the pikliz is good too. The wait sometimes can be a bit long. The breakfast is delicious too

Google
GREAT ox tail and turkey stew. The sauce from the stew goes perfectly with the rice and bean。Also great price and service.

The food here is great, I’ve eaten there multiple times but customers is horrible. I ordered my food over the phone. The lady said the legume wasn’t ready so I ordered something else. I get to the restaurant and she said the legume is ready now and asked me what kinda of rice did I want, started my plate and went to the back. 30 minutes later, many customers have come and went… and one of the customers walked out with multiple plates, one of them being legume… She clearly didn’t want my service so I left. They need to do better.

Great first impression! The passion fruit smoothie is to die for. The staff were very nice. Rice is on point.

This place is going down hill fast! Ever since the original owners sold the place it just get worse and worse everytime. Ordered griot complete with white rice and bean and they had the nerve to give those three little container of black bean! Would give zero star if I could!

Yelp
Piman cafe is somewhat rundown but the food isn't. The sign saying "Piman", above the front is faded. And since it isn't electric you can't really see it. The area to order had fliers for CDP lisences and other ads. The four sit down tables weren't super clean but had a nice fake plant. I wasn't the typical demographic. We waited in line about 5-10 minutes, although there's not a lot of space for a line. The electronic menus inside don't work and we just guess based on a Yelp picture of a menu. The person said it would be about 15 minutes. After about 20 minutes we got our food and paid. There was a line to order and the phone kept ringing the whole time we were there. Also people talk on their phones loudly here. We got the stewed turkey, large. $10 And the fried pork. $12 Both with rice and beans. Both were pretty good and large for the price. The plantains were almost like hash browns. The turkey was almost in a curry but different. The sauce was also great for the rice and beans Based on the food quality and portion size, the rest of the business doesn't need to be a priority since they have quality food and lots of customers. Ideal place to get food delivered from or call ahead.

Yelp
Food was amazing. They did not disappoint. The rice was fresh tasting and their friend goat was very tender. The service could have been a little better, but it could also be that they were finishing up for the night. I would definitely eat here again, they do not skimp on the sauces.

Yelp
I'm super critical about Haitian food because I am half Haitian. I saw multiple recommendations to rating the business 5*'s. So, I said why not?! Visited here for lunch today, I had the turkey stew, black beans and rice and fried plantains. Nothing excited me more about having a Haitian option in the area. After trying the number listed on yelp several times., I was able to reach someone to place the order. I asked if I would need to pay for extra pikliz. He shared to just ask at the front when the order was picked up. When the order was picked up, we were told that they were short on pikliz. The food wasn't comparable to Au Bon Gut, but the portion sizes are huge and the service is fast.

Yelp
This is one of my worst experiences, I ordered a fish for $40 and a goat with gravy and I got nothing but bones with a plate full of in the goat and the fish was salty. I couldn't ate the food. The cashier was trying to make it right by giving me $20 against the salty food. my advice is stay away from this place.

Yelp
What a great find for Haitian food, in a completely unlikely location. The food is fantastic and obviously prepared by a great cook. I had the turkey stew with beans, and a side of plantains. It was cooked and seasoned to perfection, with a huge portion. Plantains were crispy and perfect too. The family-run nature of the place is authentic and adds to the "what a great find" feeling. Oh, and cheap Joe's favorite part? A full restaurant meal is roughly $7! The divey ambience of the place is part of it's charm and uniqueness. First off, I was the only non-Haitian-Creole speaker in the place. The owner said "can I help you?" (I think meaning "you must be lost or something?") when I walked in...when I laughed and said I liked Haitian food, she laughed too. It's in an unlikely location (a slightly run-down tiny strip of Haitian specialty stores across from a 7-11 and near a very large gay leather bar). Truth be told, I came in because her place is always mobbed by Haitian-Americans, inside and out. Definitely they come here for the fantastic food. The parking lot is always filled, for a reason. What really made it a fun experience was Verna, who seemed to be the owner. She taught me a little Haitian Creole, which sounds a lot like Quebec Street French. Just a warm-hearted owner, with a fun place and great food.

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious! We had fried Red Snapper and griot. Also great customer service!

Yelp
Piman Cafe Restaurant is a totally Haitian restaurant and the Haitians clearly love it. When I was there it was rather obvious I was the only person there who was not Haitian. Piman Cafe Restaurant is a restaurant I rather like. Inside its totally clean and colorful with bright near neon orange and green décor. Both times I've been here, I've been given a pleasant, polite greeting at the order counter and though the place seems to be somewhat of a hang for younger kids, probably from the nearby Fort Lauderdale High School, they've all proved to be well mannered and friendly. I should point out that the place often appears closed during regular hours from the outside but it's not. The windows are totally covered with a green shading that gives that closed appearance from the outside On my first visit I had their turkey stew which I found to be rich as well as tasty in flavor but on my most recent visit ordered their tilapia along with a dark rice and bean which meal also included a salad along with plantain. The tilapia came in a large portion, nicely breaded, rather tasty and as I believe, though not sure, that it was lightly topped off with pieces pikliz. Likewise, the rice and beans were very good especially with the gravy added. As for the salad, rather simple iceberg lettuce along with a couple of slices of tomato that were served with a bottle of Wishbone Italian Balsamic. Not sure the authenticity of using Italian balsamic but maybe that is what they use in Haiti. The big surprise for me was when I went to pay up. I had all this food plus a bottle of Arizona Mucho Mango, all for the princely sum of $13.00 since I was paying in cash.

Yelp
They never answer the phone and the coustomer service is the worst service i ever had nothing is in order the lady in the front has a bad attitude and dont tell u how long or how much the food cost.. Do not stop by untill they learn how to treat the paying coustomer

Yelp
I found the Piman Cafe on Yelp so my Haitian husband could get some authentic food during our short stay in Ft Lauderdale before our honeymoon cruise. He was doubtful that it would be good because the felt the reviews where false positives. On the contrary....the service was excellent along with food. The restaurant was clean and bright. The very nice waitress/hostess even spoke creole to my hubby! He felt at home. The Piman Cafe has authentic Haitian food worth the stop thru if you are in the area!

Danielle F.

Yelp
Piman was my go to spot up until tonight. I had it Wednesday which was delicious. Here it is Friday and while eating my rice a beetle like bug crawled out. I literally threw my plate . Sorry to say I won't return for awhile.

Digi R.

Yelp
Never disappointed when I eat food from this establishment. It's made how I like my food cooked. The presentation of the food is amazing and very flavorful. I usually get the Fried Turkey with beans and rice. I would definitely recommend this place to friends to try.

Tiffany D.

Yelp
The place is okay. However I was charged $20 for fried pork meal and 2 drinks. I just wanted to see what I would be charged if assumed I'm not Haitian. Haitian restaurant down the street, same food and two specialty drinks $12.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and more often than not, the food is very good. I believe that there is new management because the service here has changed for what I believe is better. Before, if you would call in to order food, the phone was nothing but static and the girl who answered would pretty much just yell into the phone until you just hung up. I ordered food once and gave them about an hour to have it done because anyone who eats at haitian restaurants knows that they take forever to make it. By the time I got there, the woman informed me that they had given the food to someone else because I took too long and someone ordered the same thing. I was beyond aggravated. Common sense: when receiving a phone order, at least get a NAME, or a phone number. One of the downfalls of this place is just that. If you order rice and chicken, they just hang up. Sure enough someone will walk in and order rice and chicken and get it first if you don't show up. It's a haitian restaurant. These are staples. It's great that food is made to order but some types of food should already be done. The restaurant itself is very small due to the location. You can dine in, but it's usually pretty warm in there. I made the mistake of coming here with some coworkers once on lunch break and ended up using the whole hour waiting for the food. The parking lot is shared with a barber shop, a mini meat market, and one other store, so parking can sometimes be tight. Overall, I still recommend this to anyone looking for haitian food in Fort Lauderdale. The food is consistently good, and with the change in staff in the front, the future may be bright for this business.

Brittany R.

Yelp
I ordered from this place today via Über eats so I'm only going to leave a review based on a takeout experience. The small order of oxtails that came with rice and beans was unfortunately a complete disappointment. The oxtails, all 4 tiny tips of the tail, were chewy and hidden under a quarter piece of potato. The rice which I have NEVER seen in any Haitian cuisine (photo attached) was unlike that presented on yelp as well, was piled high to the point the oxtail couldn't be seen. Light brown with an unidentifiable pea. My sister in law is from Haiti, I know what JunJun (please forgive my spelling) rice looks and tastes like, authentically. My griot however was cooked perfectly and I liked my plantains. I will consider a visit to the actual establishment but as for now, I'm lost in yelp reviewers translation.

Chris R.

Yelp
Order the "griot aver banan", phonetically "gre-O simp". Deep Fried Pork and Fried Plantains! And loads for your Money

Sodi L.

Yelp
The griot is awesome and juicy. Some places can be dry but here the griot is wet. The Legume is good although it could be more meaty. Definitely one of the better Haitian spots to eat at.

Woldine M.

Yelp
Rude rude rude worst customer service everrr!!! When u call about an order will take still take about another 30 mins when u get there I witness a lady got the door Shut on her face while trying to put her order in smh They food are great But they need respectful ppl to work there They're so rude with attitude Stay in the back chit chatting and have ppl waiting upfront

Jean - Paul J.

Yelp
A little pricey. They gave plenty of rice but very small portion of meat. Had the oxtail, tasted great, $ 22.00 with a drink...like I said, $$$$pricey

Yelp
This was by far one of the Best Haitian restaurants in S. Florida. While on vacation we researched our options, stopped by for take out, ordered fried fruit, fried turkey, Accra, fried chicken as complete meals( with salad, plaintains and rice) and we were not disappointed. Portions are generous, prices are average, food Outstanding! Everything was well seasoned- had us wanting more. We stopped by two additional times (took the 45 minute drive from our hotel) after trying out some other Haitian restaurants (they were disappointing) this place was by far the Best. Tip: order in advance so your food is ready at pickup. They offer daily specials. They're also located next door to a Haitian market where you can buy drinks, etc. When we're back in S. Florida, we'll definitely be back.

Alejandro R.

Yelp
I visited Piman several months ago and finally remembered to leave a review. From the outside it look just like another Haitian restaurant in a plaza. But one should never judge a book by its cover. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I asked the waitress what she recommended, she said the Turkey Stew. Wow I am so happy I took her advice, you can tell everything was prepared with a lot of love and care. The food had a lot of flavor and I was more then satisfied. I hope to visit again next time I am in the area. Thank You so much Piman

Oscar S.

Yelp
Amazing food! Tasty and fresh, the green plantains are perfectly crisp, the pork and the spices hit the spot... they serve natural juices that are delicious and refreshing. Place is clean and colorful.

Krystal J.

Yelp
Gave them 2 stars for trying they need to work on using more seasoning and making sure the meat is properly cooked before frying it I ordered a Turkey complete and I just thought they feed me a plate of dog the meat was very hard and pulley and had no flavor fried Turkey is supposed to taste way better than this and also the jon jon rice was not great at all I would never order here again made we waste 18 dollars on there food and delivery my husband didnt want it and my dogs couldn't chew it ,so it ended up in the garbage thanks alot piman !!!

Kristina C.

Yelp
This was my first time here. It's cute inside, like a mom & pop restaurant. A friendly lady helped me with my take out order. Great service. Clean. My work used to have Pork Griot with Pickliz in the cafeteria. It was so yummy my friends & I would order 2 to take home to family. I didn't know where to get the dish locally. I found this restaurant on Yelp. I got food to go. My friend & I loved the Pork Griot with Pickliz Complete with beans, rice, and fried plantains. The pork was juicy and the Pickliz was Amazing. I would highly recommend it. It looks like they sell their own homemade Pickliz. I'm definitely getting some and will be ordering there again. Even a friendly customer that looked like a regular helped me carry my stuff to my car.

Ryan C.

Yelp
The service was very friendly. We came from California and this was our 1st stop, and it lived up to the yelp reviews. We showed up late (8:30) so they had sold out of some items, however the stewed chicken and the Gryo was very good. We left full and this is legit Haitian food.

Eve J.

Yelp
I had lunch there today the food was ok I don't think I'm coming back I ordered the turkey stew with rice and beans it's look like the chefs puts too much water when cooking the rice

Dollie P.

Yelp
No menu was given which is fine. I'm of Haitian descent so I know exactly what Haitian restaurants sell. I ordered griot (pork chunks). I thought it would take a lot time because it usually does. They actually brung it out in 10 minutes! They had great Kompa playing which made for a great environment. I was pretty surprised. Although the food didn't taste as great as i usually have, I wouldnt mind passing through again.

Melly B.

Yelp
Okay so I've been ordering from this restaurant on ubereats for about 2 weeks. I can't stop ordering since I've discovered it! The food's great, the first time I ordered the rice was unusual compared to what other restaurants usually serve with Griot but it was a good different, it tasted great so I liked it. The griot is amazing, the meat is tender, and I always make sure I call to tell them I do not want grease, just meat when I order from ubereats to make the most of it. Overall they're pretty great and I will definitely keep ordering.

Ron F.

Yelp
For last two months this has been my go to lunch place. Large portions, great prices. Cafe envinronment. Staff has been good. Always have extra food to bring home :-) 3 times here in last few weeks I had the $8 stewed chicken, included bottled water, salad, rice, beans and chicken (bone-in) with gravy and vegetables. As usual, I needed a carry out container with enough food for 2nd lunch. Great job!

B D.

Yelp
First time we went to this restaurant they served us rice which was from bottom of pot or that was permeated with burnt taste. We didn't complain. Another time they took our order which included griot, it was so hot inside I was walking outside and another customer who ordered before me told me they were out of griot, so I asked the lady & she told me yes. So when were they going to tell me. Then after I walked out a person followed me out said they had it, I was like no thank you. I'm not up for the okie doke and I'll never go back. Some of the workers are nice some rude. I left & went to our usual Haitian restaurant around the way who were happy to see me, I'd rather drive out of my way than to go back to Piman.

Evan S.

Yelp
So I live near here and since I moved here and I didn't have a car this was the only restaurant I went to. Needless to say I became quite used to coming here and I really like coming here. The staff (especially Verna) are very friendly. The owner is super friendly. The tilapia is delicious and also the accra is delicious as well. I have tried other restaurants in the area but at Piman you get this sort of "home cooked" feeling, I hope this makes sense. You can tell that the food was made specifically for you instead of just someone trying to make food for as many people as possible. It is clear that the cook(s) puts love into the food and even when I go to other places now that I have a car I still miss this "home cooked" feeling and the warm/welcoming staff that I get at Piman. It will likely always be my go-to restaurant in Florida.

Bertrand K.

Yelp
I love Haitian food, so I had to try Piman while I was visiting nearby. My mom and I both got stewed chicken, so that's the only dish I tried, but it was great! We both really liked it, and the portions were generous. I had enough for a 2nd meal, and my mom stretched it to 3 meals. The decor is cute with lime green seat cushions and wall accents. Our waitress and the guy behind the bar were both very friendly and anxious to please. An improvement would be written menus or a more visible chalkboard menu. We were also a little confused about where to order, so a clearer welcome with some instructions would be appreciated (along the lines of "Welcome, have a seat anywhere and I'll come take your order shortly"). I'll be back next time I'm visiting Fort Lauderdale!

Manny A.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem just off to the side of Wilton Manors. I had the stewed chicken with had a tasty sauce. My companion had the Fried Tilapia. Both were served with sides of fried green plantains with the perfect amount of tart and sweetness. With two lemonades and dessert the tab came out to less than $25. An amazing bargain.

Janika G.

Yelp
We decided to go and try this haitian restaurant based on fellow yelpers reccomendation sadly we were left dissapointed. The only thing that was good were the fried plaintains, the grio (pork chunks) were not marinated as they should have been, it literally tasted like fried pork thats it nothing special..im haitian I know that grio is supposed to be marinated. My salad was not fresh, and the tomato on top was soft n mushy needless to say I ate 1 bote and was done with that. The rice w peas plain sucked, no kinda love was put into cooking the meal we ate. This place has potential but they definitely need to step there game up. I gave 2 stars because I love my haitian people but cmon guys lets get it together and keep quality consistent.

Sherrelle B.

Yelp
I've had food from this restaurants overtime that I am never disappointed when I go. I love that this restaurant is not too far from my house. And it's kind of difficult finding a Haitian restaurant on the east side of 95 so this is great!

Levi B.

Yelp
Great food at a great price with very friendly service... We stopped here for dinner, had the stewed chicken and grilled pork dinners - both were excellent.

Shamika C.

Yelp
Omg I love this restaurant I fly down from Charlotte NC just to get a good Haitian meal the fried Tasso and turkey is everything and more

Mula Y.

Yelp
Food was decent. when I first walked in I was the only person there, after about a 20 minute wait on my fried turkey the place was almost packed. Long wait but it was only because my turkey was being made fresh.

Nika C.

Yelp
I have eaten here twice and I must say this is the best Haitian food I've eaten in northern broward area. I love the presentation of the food ,I love the authentic taste, and I definitely love their customer service!

Kevin Y.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. The owner was really nice, and the stew turkey was an excellent surprise.

Sandy R.

Yelp
First time at a Haitian/Caribbean restaurant. Not sure what we were eating, since there is no menu. Definitely a local eating establishment. Whatever it was (think it was pork) was delicious. Came with rice and beans and plantains. Also very good. Enjoyed "fruit champagne" as well. Excellent service.

Elvin J.

Yelp
I went here on behalf of a delivery service. We called 10 minutes ahead of time, and when I got there they said it would be another 15 minutes. To spare you the details, I waited an hour and a half past the initial 15 minutes. People who came in after me got their food before me. They weren't even busy! I would NOT recommend going here, terrible service.

Eric H.

Yelp
This place has amazingly great food, wonderful service at a great price! Breakfast lunch or dinner. Come check it out. Haitian cuisine at its finest! Take home a jar of picklez.

C M.

Yelp
BAD FOOD! White rice ordered came in hard and burned chunks! scraped off the pot. The pork (griot) is always cooked to the max, very crunchy and burned. Many times I retuned back (4,5 miles) and exchanged it. Tonight for instance my rice is all burned out, meat tastes like ashes and they flipped me out of the gravy sauce that comes with the plate. Also, the 10th order it's supposed to be free and at your choice. LIARS and thief's, your tenth order they give you a half plate and of what ever they have in the kitchen, you don't chose. I will from now on buy my food from Andrews Ave or any other Haitian place because no other restaurant can't be as bad, filthy, rude to clients and careless about their customers. They treat you with disrespect and attitude ALWAYS, always and always. The lowest quality food you can waste your money on this is.

Franceska J.

Yelp
My cousins and I just check this place out, customer service was on point Lovely she was very nice and entertaining as well make us comfortable. I never seen great customer services like that. The first Haitian restaurant I receive such a welcome humor. Food was great . Definitely will come back when I visit Fort Lauderdale again. Thanks for your service..

Alan W.

Yelp
Best Haitian food in town!!! My workplace orders lunch from here frequently. People are nice, service is great, clean, and food is awesome. Besides lunch they also have breakfast and dinner. Weekends they have soups and their pumpkin soup (soupe joumou) is a fave of mines.
