Pine Shed Ribs and Barbecue

You need to order the right thing here. This has to be the absolute most fantastic barbecue sauce I have had in town. If they bottled it and sold it, I'm sure it would fly off the shelves. Next up, the baked beans - they are out of this world. Probably the best baked beans I've had. The Tri-tip was also fantastic and paired well with the bbq sauce & beans. However, the cornbread was inedible and we tossed it. Mac and cheese was no good either but we ate some of it. Chicken was not the right flavor or texture for me but that could be personal preference. I look forward to trying their lunch specials and more. It looks like they are open for lunch and close for a couple hours in the afternoon and then open again in the evening for dinner. Seems like lunch can be ordered at the walk-up window by the smokers but for dinner you'll need to walk up the building past the nail salon to the bar to order. We hit them up around five pm on Friday night and only a handful of people were inside upon arrival. However, the parking lot was full and by the time our order was ready, a bunch of families were piling in. Our order took about ten minutes to be ready and was packaged in nice, more expensive to-go containers. There are tables and bar seating inside and a parking lot out front. Prices are what you would expect for bbq. We ordered the "Family Dinner" and it could definitely work for four people, if you ate everything.

Sausage was really good. BBQ sauce Ribs were good if you get a center piece instead of a end piece. Brisket was good but a bit dry. Beans had a lot of flavor and depth to them.

First timer and tried the loaded Chopped Chicken Sandwhich with the White Cheddar Mac N Cheese which was excellent! Bun was good, chicken was not dry, just enough sauce & side was tasty. Side of pickles was a perfect touch. I met Will who took my order and he was a kind, helpful man. The space is beautifully landscaped. There are tables in the open (patio style) as well as covered space with tables. I will definitely come back and would hire them to cater for my next event! Thanks guys. 😊

This place was an impromptu find and I will forever remember the location, it also happened to be their 15y anniversary! This cozy hidden gem creates a wonderful portfolio of incredibly delicious barbecue and sides, the cornbread is savory and sweet and super tasty… check these guys out and say hi to Matt and the crew for me!

Weird place. We went to the order window, which had a sign sending us to "the bar." We have no idea what the bar is, so we tried the door. Locked. Then we tried a door on the other side and were 'greeted' by a guy sweating over meat. He groused and pointed us to a strip mall store front door about 30 feet away (apparently this is "the bar"). Guy handed us a menu, so we tried to order from it. "Nope, not today. Today we have...." OK, then why's he hand us menus? I wanted 1/2# plate. Nope. Can only get 1/4# plate. It is apparently not possible to sell me an additional 1/4# of meat if it is to be placed on a plate. However, I was allowed to order 1/2# a la carte. Just no sides... that's a plate. Who knew there would be so many rules. So, I got the 1/2# brisket a la carte. Meat was actually quite good, though I could have done with more than 2 thimblesfull of BBQ sauce. Dining partner got the sausage link sandwich (the other available item, as far as we could tell), and a side of cornbread. Sandwich was fine, cornbread tasted like a dessert. I realize the BBQ genre had a lot of variation all over the US, and being from TX, we have some preconceptions about what it should be. Cornbread is not a dessert, isn't particularly sweet, and made 'just right,' it has diced jalapeño mixed in. So it threw us off that it tasted like a glazed cake. As I said before, the brisket was quite good, in that my cuts were off the point end, and any self-respecting brisket fan knows the point end is far better than the flat. Anyway, we might visit again if the mood strikes us, but we'll keep looking for a place with fewer rules.

This place was a gem the meat was off the charts tasty! We had the brisket and pork ribs and could eat the brisket with a fork it was so tender. We went about 430 on a Saturday and we're able to order immediately and had our food within 5 minutes. Sides were amazing as well. We sat outside which was nice the only minor annoyance was after about 20 minutes our food attracted some fly's that wanted to share which is not surprising but was still a little aggravating. Highly recommend but if fly's are likely to ruin your evening then go in or take it home you won't be disappointed

The pastrami is phenomenal! Sides are ok, cant judge off the other items I haven't had. But we go on Fridays just for the pastrami and it never disappoints

Ate here last week and left full and happy. The ribs were smoky, tender, and packed with flavor--definitely the highlight of the meal. The pastrami was another standout--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and sliced just right. The potato salad was creamy with a nice tang and didn't need any doctoring. The cornbread, while a nice touch, felt like an afterthought--on the drier side compared to everything else. Still, the overall plate delivered exactly what you'd want from a solid BBQ spot: bold flavors, generous portions, and hearty satisfaction. One small disappointment--I came in craving brisket, but they weren't making it that day. Hope they add it to the rotation more often, because I'll definitely be back to try it when they do!

Great owners! You can tell they take pride in their food. The brisket was juicy and tender. The beef ribs and St. Louis ribs were tasty. The mac and cheese was okay but the beans were great! I'm told I need to come back and try the pastrami so that's next on the list. Plenty of outside seating. Just check their hours before coming.

Stopped in for a quick bite while going from one thing to the next. Could not be happier that I did. Got an excellent NA beer recommendation (driving) that was unexpectedly amazing. Was lucky to come on brisket day (tues and sat, do it, it's worth it!) and got myself a delicious sandwich (soft and saucy) with equally delicious potato salad (if you're on the fence, go with the potato salad). On top of all that, the vibe was immaculate. Nearby wood fire pit, great jams on the speaks, and the most beautiful fall day you could ask for. The weather might not always be so beautifully cooperative, but dang. I could not have asked for a better pit stop. Highly recommend you do the same.

For over 15 years I have frequented Pine shed, even once using them to cater a party. If you're going to eat there they have some nice outdoor seating, and you just order up at the food truck. Good BBQ

It's real BBQ, and the pastrami on Fridays is sublime. Service can be spotty (usually short staffed), but it's always with a smile. They have good corn bread, and finally they have good beans. People love their Mac and Cheese, especially the version with bacon. Good drink selection in an old school space with plenty of tables outside fir those nice, sunny days.

We moved here from San Diego and have a go-to place down there called Phil's BBQ. They have the best beef ribs that are HUGE. I went with my husband on a Wednesday, which is beef ribs day, during our lunch break (we both work from home) to Pine Shed Ribs and BBQ. He ordered the beef ribs with bacon mac and cheese (cornbread already comes with it). The beef ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful, and it was the first time we've encountered some this large...just what we were looking for! I ordered the chicken and pork ribs combo with cheddar mac and cheese. The chicken was extremely dry, but the pork ribs were decent. While the mac and cheese was okay, it isn't something I'm super excited about and will probably get another option for a side next time. We enjoyed our quick lunch sitting in the covered patio, which was perfect for a beautiful summer day.

Awful service, awful attitude, rarely are they open, always out of brrisk and tri-tip. Go to Bottos in Portland.... much better barbecue much better service much better experience.

This bbq is the real deal, I feel lucky to live so close by. The staff are really friendly and the place has such a nice vibe. It's relaxing even just waiting for your food and smelling the bbq.

My husband and I were going to eat lunch here. I grew up eating at the Pine Shed, and it used to be really good. The quality has gone down some in the past few years, however. Dry meat, salty sausages, spendy. We parked in the parking lot and started to walk across the street (we were coming right back) and a man (I'm assuming the owner) very rudely told us not to use "his lot" (there are several other businesses there and plenty of open spaces). We calmly said we were coming right back in a minute to eat lunch there, and he rolled his eyes and huffed at us. We went back to our car and said we would find another place to eat, and the he yelled "fine! Go eat somewhere else!" It was unnecessarily rude and unprovoked, especially since we were planning on eating there. We will not come back.

Went yesterday because we were craving some BBQ and hadn't tried this place before. We were the only people there and the seating area was cute. We originally wanted pulled pork but didn't realize they only do certain meats on certain days so we ended up ordering the brisket sandwich with beans and the original mac. I know Oregon isn't the leading place when it comes to BBQ, so we weren't expecting much, but we were honestly really disappointed and didn't even finish our food. The brisket was extremely tough, over smoked but still somehow had no flavor..... there was also hardly any sauce on the sandwich. When you think BBQ sandwich you're thinking a messy sauce covered delicious bundle of goodness, but though there was a good amount of meat on it, it just wasn't good. The bread they use was crispy on the edges and that made it a little better. In the end we opened up the sandwiches to try and eat the brisket by dipping it in the beans for some more flavor and that wasn't even cutting it..... The beans were pretty standard but the mac was honestly sad. Barely any sauce and again no flavor. The service was great and it had a nice ambiance but I wouldn't recommend this place for the food :(

Being the only BBQ game in town (LO) means you should be the very best at what you do... Was really looking forward to a BBQ meal only to be disappointed. Our chicken was dry and over smoked. The ribs had the smallest amount of meat on them and were also dry. The brisket was ok, sadly not a lot of flavor. Coleslaw didn't seem to have enough sauce to it and felt more like just shredded cabbage in the container. The highlight was the red potato salad! The hard part was all the above cost just under $100.00. I understand food costs and running the business is tough. For the $$ I do expect good tasting, meaty BBQ! Bummer!

Order by Uber. Didn't know it was 25 mins from Portland downtown. The bbq was good tasty and juicy but the side mac and cheese with bacon and the corn bread was awful and I was missing one side item coleslaw.

When your hours state 4-7 that should mean something, at this place it doesn't. When they run out they close, which is fine, just be transparent and state it so no one has to waste any time.

Best brisket I've ever had. I've had brisket from the Carolinas, to Texas, to KC. This was easily the best. It melted in my mouth. It was so juicy. 10/10!

I felt compelled to write a review after seeing some of the negative posts here. I hadn't been to Pine Shed since it was literally just a Pine Shed in a parking lot. But, looking for a new place to try for a BBQ dinner for fiancé's father's B-Day, we chose Pine Shed to try again. I am a bit of a BBQ snob. As a self-proclaimed pit master, I find it hard to find BBQ that matches what I can produce, but I'm also aware of just how hard it can be to estimate your consumption and also keep everything as close to perfect as possible throughout the day. So, I tend to overlook when things are not 100% on point, ie, a portion of meat seems drier than id prefer. We each ordered a plate - two tri-tip, one rib/chicken combo, one baby back rib - and I also ordered three of the Wednesday special beef ribs, We got sides of coleslaw, beans, and white cheddar Mac. Overwhelmingly, the table greatly enjoyed their plates, commenting on how moist the chicken was, or how the pork ribs were excellent. My call out, however, was for the beef ribs. These were exceptional and Im so glad I ordered them. Perfect pepper-based rub one would expect on beef, with a bit of a surprise sweet, perhaps from sweet paprika, though it was possible it was the slightest hint of brown sugar usually reserved for pork ribs. Either way, they were delicious. Coupled with my plate dinner, three was one too many, so one went home for the next day's lunch. Also, I have to point out, they have a pretty good selection of local craft brews on tap.

I've been coming here for a good while and the food has been yummy, but I just cannot recommend them as a business anymore. Constantly closing early. Constantly out of items. Called for dinner last night and I wanted the tri-tip sandwich, bacon Mac, and fries. Simple, right? Nope. They were out of bread. BREAD. And then guess what? Also out of bacon for the bacon Mac. Does it end there? No. Out of fries as well. Are you kidding me? One time I asked if I could substitute the corn bread for potato salad, as both sides are listed for $4 and quite honestly their cornbread is mealy and disgusting. The dude laughed at me as if I was making a joke. I just kinda??? Asked?? Is that a no then?? And he literally says, "Nice try." ????? I wasn't trying to scam you bro they're the same price on your menu. If you can't even stay open your listed hours, and run out of staples like BREAD and fries, maybe you should just stick to making dinner for your friends instead of running a business.

Tried this place for the first time a few weeks back. Wasn't busy at all and service was good. Nice cozy place Beer choices were good, had a Fuzztail Hefeweizen which was good. We had the wedge salad which was great. My wife and I had the sliders. They were good but a little dry - had to get some extra BBQ sauce for them. I'm not sure I'd get that again if I went back - maybe try the full size sando or some brisket. Overall good experience.

Love this place! Not on main road so unless you live nearby, yelp etc you may never learn to stop by. Their BBQ for years now never disappoints! Unless that is- they run out :)

We're in the mood to eat an edible, meaty and hearty meal. There's free parking in the lot. We noticed outdoor seating area was closed. Indoor seating was open for dinner. Pastrami had the right amount of smoke; however, some portions were slightly over cooked and tasted too dry. Pickles added a nice crunch, tangy and vinegar flavor to smoked pastrami. My favorite part of the meal was the unique taste of cole slaw. I appreciate cole slaw not drenched in dressing. I also enjoyed pouring water from a glass pitcher into glass mason jar. I'm always down for cornbread; however, my piece was served a bit cold and dry when consumed with a fork. We appreciate helpful and friendly customer service.

The Pine Shed is a locals place in Lake Oswego. They do a brisk take out business and have a middlin' sized dining room. The bartender is a nice guy and takes orders at the bar and the cook delivers food to the table. Very casual an comfortable. They have small and large plates and lots of things to have a side of. They are known for BBQ and do a great job. I had a beautiful green salad served with brisket. Delicious! My husband had a full dinner with two sides. The have several taps for beer and a limited but ok wine menu. Check it out!

I first visited Pine Shed in August 2017 with a group of friends and we were not disappointed. Because we were on our personally curated BBQ crawl we tried a little of everything to get a good grasp of the specialties. Yeah they specialised in everything to be honest. The biggest thing for me is the sauce. I am picky BBQ sauce. I don't like liquid-y sauces and I absolutely hate vinegar sauces. Pine Shed's sauce was perfect: thick, molasses-y sauce, with a bite to it. The ribs were fantastic! The meat fell right off the bone and basically melted in your mouth. There was so much flavour we barely spoke as we crammed food in our faces. The sausages were juicy and so yummy. Their sides were spectacular too: cornbread and Mac and cheese. I didn't try the potato salad; I don't eat Mayo for any reason but the group said it was as great as everything else. When I went back for a bit in 2018 the food was still off the charts good. Can't recommend enough.

I would love to support this business. However, it's the little things that matter try getting some barbecue sauce there regardless of the size of people in your party or if you ask for extra, they will give you a quarter sized container of barbecue sauce which is good for a dip or two. They have only one kind too. Maybe if the people who work, there were a little happier, and the barbecue was a little bit better, this would all be forgivable. Do better smile occasionally and hand out some bbq sauce.

I'm glad to come back and give this place another try. The smoked flavor of the tri-tip and pork ribs is incredible. While the ribs were the proverbial fall off the bone tender, the tri-tip was not as tender. I had hoped for the brisket but they were out a little before 5 on a Saturday afternoon. The BBQ beans are some of the best I have had, good beans with some onion, peppers and generous amounts of meat mixed in. The wife had the potato salad and gives it high marks as well. It's a bit of an odd layout, the original smokehouse with the "open" sign in the window isn't where you go, instead, walk past the nail salon into the restaurant and bar. The place is pretty dark inside, the seating is basic hardwood chairs and benches. While they have several beers on tap, they don't brew ice tea and were out of it in the cooler with the selection of soft drinks. I appreciated the pickles and pickled onions on the side. The cornbread was very good, especially with butter and honey on the side. It seemed odd that they served little packets of honey but I suppose that the with the take out orders. In general, this is set up to be a take out place more than sit down and have a meal. They offer order ahead through Yelp, assuming it knows what they have and are out of, I think it would be a great alternative to avoid the lines for future orders.

Pine Shed Ribs is the best BBQ place in the Lake O area. Smoked chicken - amazing! Pork ribs - great! Beef ribs - great! Sausage - great! Tri tip - good. Mac n cheese - ok. For me, I tend to judge BBQ places on their sweet tea and sides, so I have to go with 4 stars because they are light on sides and use penne in their mac. All in all, they're solid, but Portland proper has a lot of places that with satisfy your side fix. This being said, when here, I recommend the sampler plate. Enjoy!

I think I really wanted to like this place because it's local and I love BBQ. I've gotten the half sampler twice to give them every chance of wowing me with a dish and accounting for an "off" day with the first one. It's just not executed very well. And after having truly amazing BBQ at Botto's, I'm comfortable lowering my previous rating. The woman at the window is very nice. Outdoor seating is pretty darn nice, even the parking lot tables are nice. They have Mexican Coke which is a plus for me. The chicken is dry. The rib is dry. The sausage is ok but unremarkable. The bacon mac and cheese is just rigatoni with a sauce, they seem like they weren't even cooked together. Cornbread is probably the best element but it's not worth getting you here. BBQ tastes are subjective and regional so maybe if you grew up on this style, you'll love it. I grew up on saucey BBQ and southern/black styles so this does not compute.

The BBQ sauce was hands down my favorite part. The food was good, not my favorite but good. If nearby would go again but wouldn't make a special trip out to eat here. The cornbread was not my favorite, a little too corny for my liking. I had a brisket sandwich and it was good, even better with the BBQ sauce. Had the bacon cheese macaroni and it was good. My husband had the sampler with ribs, brisket and chicken. They were all just ok, again not his favorite but good and if nearby would eat there again.

Meat was awful. Dry and zero character. Service was less than average at best. Stay away from here if you like real BBQ.

Great family dinner! We held our family Christmas later than the day and ordered beef and pork ribs, sausage and a half chicken with sides!! It was finished at pickup time and enjoyed by young and old. Hard to go wrong ordering any of these items. All good. Maneuvered website ordering successfully. This is a small business that deserves support!! Great food.

When you hear Lake Oswego, the mind doesn't think "Good BBQ", but perhaps it should. This place is a hidden gem in the middle of a neighborhood, on the corner of a slower cross-section. Not too many people head down here, unless they're cutting through LO to beat traffic, they live in this area, or work at the few little businesses in the area. However, this place has steady business. I've actually been here before, but because of the location, I often forget about it. They do have a following though, because the sign warns they're open "until sold out". I ordered the tri-tip plate, because I love me some tri-tip. The plates come with cornbread, pickled onions, pickles, and 1 side. I order an additional side, because I wanted to try both the potato salad and the Mac & Cheese. (BBQ joints are only as good as their meats, but a close second is their potato salad and their M&C) Let's start with the meat: * Great smoke ring & flavor. If you're not into BBQ sauce, this meat eats well all on its own. Some places try to cover their cheap crap meat by putting all kinds of rub on it and then slathering it in their sauce. But not Pine Shed! They know their meat does well on its own. Delicious! Next, the sides: * Potato Salad was good. Not too much mayo, great seasoning, and plenty of thick chunks of potato. If this is store bought, they had me fooled. (Hate when certain places try to pass off store bought PS as homemade). * The only real disappointment was the Mac & Cheese. While I loved the smoky, almost beer cheese flavor of the sauce, all they did was place the penne pasta in the bowl and throw the cheese sauce on top, didn't mix it in, then threw a few grated Parmesan cheese bits on it as topping. Now, let me say this, the cheese sauce is money! If they would mix it all together, crumble some topping and then bake it - MAN, it would be great! * Cornbread was tops. Dense, but not dry. Moist enough that I didn't need a gallon of water to wash it down. It was fantastic! I didn't even bother with butter or honey. Overall, I'll be back again to try some of their other offerings. Just need to make sure this is on my radar more often. Come by, grab a beer, have some Q, and chill at their fire pit. Enjoy!

Wish I'd taken a picture of my loaded brisket sandwich and slaw, but pictures of my food aren't anywhere near as important as enjoying some of the best brisket in the Pacific Northwest. So good and it puts a smile on my face to eat here-every time. Despite being a lengthy bike ride away from or a lucky work trip, this is easily one of my favorite places for BBQ/brisket. It's a great sandwich and the brisket is beautifully done with a great smoke ring and incredible flavor-wish I'd had time for some aromatherapy near the smoker. If you're in the area on Fridays, go or stay for Pastrami Friday because much like with the brisket, it's one of the best in the Pacific Northwest.

I've been here a few times. Usually with my parents, who now are also fans, Its a fairly simple place with really good food. The first time I brought them they were out of brisket so we all ordered something else, my dad got the pork, my mom the combo plate and I got the tri-tip. Everyone really liked their meal but now when we go we all get the tri-tip. Besides the meat, the sides are really good. I always get the potato salad as does my mom but my dad gets the cole slaw and likes it. The cornbread is really good, its kind of an orange-brown color but delicious. My mom says best she has had. There is room for improvement. The place has beers on tap but anything else is in cans or bottles, that means the only teas are by Snapple. There are tables inside, a few outsides by the front door, and for nice days lots available for outside eating up past the shed where I think they do their smoking, Still,​ we will keep on coming back...just know that fifth star is only fresh brewed ice tea away...

We used to really enjoy this place but it has really gone downhill over the years. The food used to always be amazing. Lately, it's been a toss up if the food will be good or dry and tasteless. The consistency in sizing is also an issue. Sometimes you get a big piece of cornbread and other times it's about half the size for the same price. We've continued coming back to support local business but I don't think we will ever be back. Tonight has been by far the worst experience. Food was ordered online at 5:30 for a 6:45 pickup. I arrived at 6:36 and was told it would be "just a few more minutes". I was early, no big deal. As I sat and waited, I witnessed 5 other parties come in for their orders. There was an issue with every single order. People were missing food and received the wrong items. It's now after 7pm, and my order still has not come out yet. This place has been such a disaster that I would have walked out by now if I hadn't already prepaid for $73 of food. My food came out at 7:05. After seeing so many mistakes with other orders, I felt the need to check my bag. Everything was there so that was good at least. The food was okay. The only item actually warm by the time we got home was the Mac n cheese.

I am rarely in this part of town, but when I was out this way my barbecue radar went off. I remembered a bookmark I'd made months ago for Pine Shed. It's a cute place. Outdoor tables, many with umbrellas. People were enjoying dry weather outside with beers and their dogs. You order and can also choose to eat inside two doors away from the original "shed" which can be a little confusing. Theres a nail salon in the middle. I arrived just as an employee was pointing out the correct door to a few other customers. Theres a pig shape on the window. Helpful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered a family meal of 7 small but meaty pork ribs, 1/2 a small chicken, 3 pieces of cornbread, and " large" sides of coleslaw and potato salad. ( they weren't all that large)There were three little cups of bbq sauce and butter. Total was $42. It was ready fairly quickly. We hauled it back to Bethany smelling smoky goodness the whole way. The verdict? The ribs were delicious.They had a nice rub on them, were tender, and had the required smoked look to them. The chicken was good too. The meats didn't need sauce at all. The sauce is good though. Tomato/vinegary sauce. Pretty typical. Not spicy. The coleslaw lacked flavor but at least wasn't a mushy mayo mess. We are biased because I make very good coleslaw. Next time I would try gorgonzola salad but I was outvoted this time. Potato salad was yummy. Clearly homemade. Cornbread was pretty good. Grainy though. My kid wasnt a fan. She likes her cornbread fluffy. I would go again. The smoky meats were really bomb. I did think a family meal should have four pieces of cornbread and more filled up sides for that price. But overall our impression was a good one.

Good friendly dudes working here, and the food is good. We ate inside, it's friendly and comfortable.

Low and Slow, no it's not a Lowrider cliché It's how this place smokes their Meats. I just happened to be in this area today so I stopped in for lunch and since this day in Portland there were multiple Forest fires and it made the air outside Pretty Smoky, I'm like hey, let's have some BBQ! (Ya my brain works this way). I ordered the Pork Ribs, Tri Tip, Coleslaw and Potato Salad. It also came with corn bread. As I was deciding what to order, I checked in on my YELP app where I was pretty stoked their was a check in reward for free beer! Yes! So, off to a great start. Gets talk food now.. Pork Ribs~ Very full smoke flavored cut. I love dry rub smoking because It allows me to ADD the sauce to my liking. BTW homemade sauce has a perfect balance of sweet and vinegar. Tri Tip ~ To me it's all about that smoke ring, they get a double chest pump from me on this one. The meat was moist and full of the wonderful smoke flavor. I just put a touch of sauce on it and BOOM it was on point. Get This Corn Bread~ Truth be told...I really don't like corn bread, but I liked this one ! I'm a fan now..it wasn't dry and the texture was great, very nutty. Get This Service~ Very personable, honest and has passion for business and customer satisfaction as well as YELP friendly. I will definitely come back and Lake Oswego is lucky to have great BBQ ! Now, go eat !

I've been going here a bit more regularly and updated the previous review to reflect my current thoughts on this place. The various smoked meats here, especially the brisket, sausage links, and pork ribs, are amazing and the bacon mac and gorgonzola salad are my favorite sides. $14 gets you a great meal of your choice of two meats, a side, and a block of cornbread. I used to hate their cornbread, but it looks like they finally got it right. A friend of mine added some honey (provided at the table) to hers and made it even better! Most of the time, the food is a real winner, but every now and then they miss the mark. A little extra house BBQ sauce on the meat usually fixes any overcooked mistakes. I recommend avoiding the one-hank for $12 as it's a much better deal to go for the two or three hank meal and take some home with you if it's too much to eat in one sitting. It's a family-run local business and the staff is very friendly. They've got canopy covered dog-friendly patio seating, except the aromatic BBQ attracts its share of flies and bees during the nicer days. However, I have seen them place lures to help keep the bugs away. There's also an indoor area as well to escape nature. This place is still best for lunch or a very early dinner. The place is still quite popular and nothing's being reheated here, which means that your favorite BBQ selections may either be sold out or temporarily unavailable while more gets cooked, even in the middle of the day. This was a frequent occurrence in years past but things have gotten much better. However, if it's after 6pm, the pickings are going to be very slim. Food: 4 Service: 5 Ambiance: 5 Value: 4 TL;DR: Great down-to-earth BBQ, but not a place to eat late.

Pine Shed Ribs worked its way into our Southwest Lunch Crew rotation during the late summer/early fall. It was really the best time to experience this place since most of the seating is on picnic benches under umbrellas. As long as the yellow jackets stay away, it is a great spot. Many of their customers take their meals to-go since there is no indoor seating, just an overhang by the take out window. This will all change shortly when they renovate and add a small indoor dining room. However, there is something about BBQ that is most satisfying when eaten outdoors on a sunny day. Pine Shed is one of those places where the people around me all seem to have a slightly better experience than I do. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan. But, similar to some of the other reviewers, my biggest complaint is that some of the items seem to be on the dry side. I've varied my order on each visit to sample most of the menu. I started with a pulled pork sandwich, then moved to a chicken plate and most recently the tri tip sandwich. Of the three meats, the tri tip was my favorite. The $7 sandwich comes with a pickle and bag of chips. Upgrade to the meat plate for $10 and you get a cornbread muffin and choice of one side (house beans, white cheddar mac-n-cheese, coleslaw or red potato salad). You can order a bottle of soda to drink, this includes some interesting varieties of root beer, or just enjoy the water with a hint of citrus. There are quality ingredients all around... Carlton Pork, Draper Chicken and our service has been great on every visit. The spot is ridiculously cute as a new appendage to an otherwise drab strip mall. In some ways, my first visit was the best because of the novelty of the spot and again eating outside on a sunny day tends to make everything better. We'll see if my enthusiasm continues on those cold winter days.

Still my favorite BBQ place anywhere in Oregon. My favorite is always the brisket. So delicious!!! Probably should order more than you think your family will need. Because it goes quickly.

Love this barbecue place near Portland. It's my new go to place for lunch. They have the smoker out back going all day and lots of outdoor seating. Brisket was moist and flavorful, and the pork ribs were excellent. They had a nice smoke flavor, and pulled away from the bone with just a little tug, like they should. For sides, I enjoyed the cornbread and some bacon mac & cheese. It's a good amount of food, and they added a pickle and some pickled onions. Check it out.
