"There’s a new incoming tenant for the 917 Folsom (at 5th) space that was previously DNA Lounge’s sibling club Codeword and DNA pizza (those businesses closed last summer to help keep DNA Lounge afloat). The new business will be called Pine Tar Grill, and it’s intended as a temple to the SF Giants (it’s also within striking distance of the ballpark). For decor, expect tons of baseball bats and sports paraphernalia." - Caleb Pershan

Chill place to watch games. Food and drinks are pretty good. Had the club sandwich and my friend had the impossible burger. Solid options. Later on, they offered a prime rib dinner special. Saw a lady order that and it looked pretty good. Maybe next time, will try it. 🍺 selection was pretty good. Some hard to find such as Saint Archer Hazy IPA and the Seismic Liquifaction Kolsch. 👍. Also had the basics like Sierra Nevada and Anchor Steam

Fun place if your a baseball fan. There are over 800 major league San Francisco players from past and now. Many pictures to bring back childhood memories even if you we not from SF. Wille Mays, McCovey, Marichal to name a few.

Food was delicious and service was excellent. I was there on the opening night, and while I don't remember anyone's name, I had a pleasant experience with everyone I talked to.

Excellent new restaurant owned by the former Giants player Jack Clark. The service was outstanding and the food was great. If you are a Giants fan you will be in heaven. Lots of memorabilia all over the place. We stopped in before the game and it turns out was a great place to watch Monday Night Football. I was wearing a Braves jersey and everyone made me feel right at home (even Jack Clark himself).

Don't order the pizza unless you're nostalgic for cafeteria za. Great decor if you're a Giants fan, but blah food menu.

Wow. A really unique spot. The owner has a collection of SF Giants players bats throughout the restaurant. The menu is simple with less than 20 items in total and they do them very well. I had the wings, half Buffalo and half Asian glaze, they were awesome. We had the fried cauliflower for an appetizer and yes I know, fry anything and it is better but it really was quite good.

What a cool spot! If you are a giants fan (or a baseball fan...or even just a sports fan) this is a must visit restaurant. After living in the Midwest one of my main complaints about SF is the lack of sports bars or restaurants. I have finally found my place! Pine tar is covered in authentic giants memorabilia (think of your favorite giants player from the past 30 years. I guarantee his game used bat is hanging somewhere in this restaurant) and TVs for watching the game, not to mention the jerseys, vintage photos, and autographs. The food is great, service is quick, and staff is friendly. So happy this place opened in SOMA and can't wait to become a regular. This place just opened so I would recommend visiting now before the word gets out.

LOVELOVELOVE the Pine Tar Grill!!! Dave, Donna, Joshua, Alex are awesome and they are the friendliest restaurant staff in town. As a native San Franciscan and lifelong Giants fan I want to send a big THANK YOU to Dave and my favorite Giants player, Jack Clark, for a place that is long overdue, where fans can enjoy great Giants memorabilia, and excellent food and drinks. One of my favorite restaurants, everyone needs to do themselves a favor and get over there for lunch, dinner, happy hour or weekend brunch. Also would be a great place for a party or work event.
