The Best Croquetas In Miami, Ranked

"Price Per Croqueta: $1.15 There are nearly as many Pinecrest Bakeries in Miami as there are uninsured drivers. But their flagship on US1 in (obviously) Pinecrest is the most reliable one (and we can’t be held liable if you go to another location). If you like a thick and sticky masa, go to this Pinecrest Bakery and get their jamon croquetas de la casa. They’re long, brown, and super crispy. But the inside is pinker than Miss Piggy’s wardrobe—and packed with just as much ham. As busy as this place gets, it’s a very relaxed bakery where you can sit at a table and eat your croquetas in peace under (of all things) a crystal chandelier.   " - virginia otazo

Google
Stopped here unexpectedly to grab some breakfast for my son, very impressed at how quickly we were helped and food was served. Attendants were all very helpful, attentive and kind. Location was perfect, to the right after getting off from the hwy and on my way to doctor’s appt at Baptist. Thanks for a great experience Pinecrest Bakery!

Google
Although we went at 7 PM, everything was very fresh. The staff was courteous and yes, they had a limited menu at that time but what we received was fresh and tasty.

Google
Great store , the manager was amazing very knowledgeable and friendly, unbelievable attitude with costumers providing above and beyond costumer care , highly recommended place for breakfast. ( best sweets in town ) .

Google
I interact with the morning staff and they are all amazingly resilient and efficient. Their attention to detail and consistency are beyond expectations.

Google
Many acquaintances have recommended this establishment to me. However, our visit this afternoon proved quite disappointing. Half the restaurant appeared to be undergoing cleaning, with numerous tables pushed aside to facilitate the cleaning process. We certainly did not wish to dine in an environment permeated by the scent of cleaning products. This lack of professionalism suggests that cleaning should be conducted outside of customer dining hours. I trust management will address this matter.

Google
They give really good food and is a nice environment

Google
Pinecrest Bakery is a Miami classic for a reason. It's the perfect place to grab a quick bite, a strong coffee, and a taste of Miami life. I really enjoyed my lunch there today. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great, and it just made my day a little bit better. If you're ever in Miami, you HAVE to go. Seriously. I'm already craving it again!

Google
This Pinecrest has been a memorable experience. I typically go to the Pinecrest on Sunset and 147th, but I'm inspired to visit this one on Kendall Drive and 97th more often. The service is truly exceptional. Claudia went above and beyond to ensure we found everything we needed. Thank you so much! It’s refreshing to see such outstanding service still exists.

Yelp
A 24/7 Pinecrest bakery. I don't drink coffee but i know they serve coffee at all times and the service is very quick. They have yummy empanadas and a delicious tres leches. I honestly come here for that specifically. The service is nice and although it's packed, you get your order pretty fast. The ambiance is nice, it's clean and the service is good. You get your order pretty fast. Definitely a convenient bakery for a quick bite or a coffee at anytime of the day. (or an amazing tres leches at anytime of the day)

Yelp
If you like tiramisu, this is not the place to order. The cafe con leche order was not consistent - mine was frothy, and my date's was thinner. The service ... the help was coughing as she made the coffee orders, giving me a bad feeling about cleanliness. Ambience was nice, indoors and out.

Lizzette V.

Yelp
My husband called this location to place an order in advance on the phone and they made him wait on the phone for 17 mins meanwhile, he was thinking that they could've been busy when he arrived to the location. They had no line and forgot about his phone call. This is the third time with this bad experiences with the night shift people. This bakery need a new staff.

Yelp
Food was delicious, I can't complain about the service they gave me, and the ambiance was very chill when I arrived, then again it was 2:30-3:00am
google avatar

Yelp
Like the place open 24 hours and good cafe, food is good. Have taken pastries to work every person like it.
google avatar

Yelp
Really busy neighborhood spot that's open 24/7. I came on a weekday morning and the line was huge. The wait wasn't terrible however. You get a ticket, which seems unnecessary because everyone was standing in line anyways. The cashier was friendly taking my order although she did end up missing an item that I had to go back and reorder. There were almost no sit down tables inside but there were still plenty outside. I tried a bunch of their pastries and they were all decent but not the best I've had. Their cafe con leches were delicious and probably my favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
I really don't understand all the negative reviews. Top 3 in my book pastelitos de guava and the croquetas delicious. Service is alright and open 24 HOURS! Can't beat that!
google avatar

Katy N.

Yelp
Customer services overall is really amazing, would highly recommend this place. Specially for all my croqueta lovers

Luis Alfredo R.

Yelp
The food I good specifically pastelitos and croquetas but service is awful literally the worst, I ask for the eclear variety's the lady didn't know all the flavors and told me to look at the glass while I was ordering in a disrespectful tone.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is definitely one to consider. I came for my first time today at around 10pm (this is a 24h location) and service was amazing. They have a large amount of options to eat. I tried their Sandwich de Pollo (Chicken Sandwich) and it was super refreshing and delicious, sadly I was really hungry so I didn't take a picture, but the quality and price of the food is really good. I bought a Sandwich de Pollo, a Guava Pastelito and a Medium Cafe con Leche and it all came up to less than $17! It has a lot of bachata music which was very pleasing to me as well. Love it, would recommend it and definitely thinking of coming back soon. God bless you all, Hopefully my review helps you all to consider this beautiful coffee place.

Yelp
My husband was getting treatment at Sylvester. Companions are not allowed in, and I was bored & kind of hungry. Probably not really hungry hungry, just bored hungry. So I walked over to get a snack. To start with, there is no discernible line and no number system. Though they do have a light up number board, go figure. In typical Miami fashion, it's survival of the fittest. People walking in and getting helped before those that have been waiting. It also helps if you are male. Seems like the ladies prefer assisting men. After having several people jump ahead, I threw my manners out the window. I ordered a tequeño & a pastelito with ham & cheese. Now, this is what I typically get at my bakery of choice. So my expectations may have been skewed but I was greatly disappointed. The tequeño was dry, tasteless & cold. The ham & cheese pastelito was laughable. It was cold too. After a couple of bites, each went in the trash. Not worth the calories. Plus, they are more expensive than my favorite bakery. Almost $6 for those 2 items. I'll stick to Party Cake.

Julie P.

Yelp
They have excellent pastelitos de guayaba. Don't waste your time preordering through DoorDash, your order won't be ready
google avatar

Yelp
I have ordered my son's birthday cake from here a couple of years already and we have never been disappointed. We love their cappuccino cake and it is always a hit. Actually, I have not found anything like it at any other bakery. The prices are very competitive and the staff has always been both attentive and helpful. This is not the closest Pinecrest Bakery to me but it is without a doubt the best one I have visited. I am taking one star off since although the cake is spectacular some other items are meh and I am taking everything into consideration. Still, a really decent choice.

Yelp
I like Pinecrest Bakery for the deliciousness of the food, but this one superceded all of them. Deliciousness, cleaningness, and good service. Even though I like them so much, cleaningness is usually a deficiency, but not in this one. I was going to order take out, I stayed because the ambiance was so good and the servers were nice and hospitable. Want to hang out with my friends here.
google avatar

Ines R.

Yelp
Quick, convenient and delicioso. You'll find a Pinecrest in or near your casa. I'm a suckered for the mixed mini platter of pastelitos. I buy them for friends, places where I can't tip or for my home as a special treat. Food is fresh and customer service is pretty good too.

Yelp
Not sure why the reviews are so low. This place was recommended. I enjoyed the food from here. The ham croquetas were good and I got bacon eggs and sausage from there. Can't go wrong with that.

Yelp
If you are out late one night, and you get hungry on the way home, unfortunately your options are limited. Some fast food places are open, but the lines are typically long and the service slow, and I mean real slow. Certain diners may be open, but that's not typically what I crave for at that time of the night. What I want is coffee and something sweet, or fried, or both. By this time I know I am going to regret this night the next morning anyway, so let's pile it on with some not-so-healthy food choices. So my typical destination, on these occasions, which are not as often as they used to be before COVID, is Pinecrest Bakery. I like this location because it is very close to my house. Here I can have my café con leche along with a slice of some cake or cheesecake (it's a bakery after all) or most probably pastelitos (guava with cheese), or maybe I behave and have some empanadas, or better yet, order a sandwich. They have the best Cuban sandwich and Media Noche (which fits). They always make their sandwiches fresh. Or if I am really late (or you can say early in the next morning) I may as well have breakfast. And if I really want to get home before the sun comes up, so that I can convince myself that I got home late at night instead of early morning, I just get a loaf of their Cuban bread (best Cuban bread) and gnaw on it on the way home. Not that I go there that frequently anyway!!!
google avatar

Joel G.

Yelp
Biggest Cuban bakery brand in Miami and don't serve Cafe in taza?!?!?? Stop pandering to this covid BS and breaking Cuban tradition. Also get charged more paying credit than cash.

Paola J.

Yelp
Delicious and fresh pastelitos all day and night ! Best empanadas de carne, te que os and orange juice The fact they are open 24 hrs . Is definitely a plus !
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Door at look like much driving by but the chandelier and open sign at 1am caught our attention. Nice bakery and had everything we wanted for a late night snack after drinking.
google avatar

Roberto G.

Yelp
Stop by for breakfast and what a great surprise. Is a cuban bakery with all my favorites. Great bread, the breakfast variety is great and the service is compassionate. Will for sure stop again next time I go to Miami.
google avatar

Sydney S.

Yelp
I've only ordered delivery but it's great because it's open 24/7! Perfect for a late night snack when nothing else is open. They do breakfast 24/7 too, which I love!

Yelp
We passed up on the Baptist hospital cafeterias and came to THE QUINTESSENTIAL Cuban/Latin/Miami loving Bakery slash cafeteria slash slash slash lol. Wife ordered a Churrasco sandwich along with a papa reñena (breaded mash potato deep fried with a ground beef center) and a ham croquette to go. I ordered the pinecrest veggie sandwich but they sold out of multiple items to make this sandwich. So I ordered a salami sandwich but they sold out of that as well. Finally I settled for a grilled chicken sandwich on whole wheat bread although the sandwich resembled more the look of a multigrain bread. Nonetheless the food was great, the service was fast and we were happy on the overall outcome. Satisfied and the locale was very centralized as well. Highway is a skip and a hop away. Just one light over and we were back on the road. They have a happy hour everyday which starts at 5pm and includes a bottle of wine along with a tapas plate of food for $19.99. Pretty awesome spot!!! Highly recommended When your third choice off their menu is still a great choice I say they're doing something right.

Julian P.

Yelp
Food was not very good. I ordered the choripán and it was dry, little taste, and bread was cold. Caesar salad sandwich came with overcooked chicken. Pan con bistec was ok with tender meat. Asked for croquetas and mini papas rellenas. Both were probably made 10 hours ago. The croquetas are easily the worst in Miami. I was going to buy some sweets after lunch, but decided not to fearing it would not taste good. Service was better. Nothing amazing, standard and pleasant. Ambiance is what attracted me to the place. Big chandelier one can see from Kendall drive. It was ok.
google avatar

Emilia S.

Yelp
Good strong coffee, beautiful interior complete with chandelier, open 24 hours. I had some TiraMassu, it was sweet yet rich in coffee flavor. The chicken empanada was a bit salty and dry, but still great and the service was efficient!

Jake T.

Yelp
This is definitely the armpit location for them. Today is the last time I visit. Incredibly frustrating... I'm a regular who tips well, they just lost that. Grab a paper with a number, it probably won't matter though, stay in the middle line and you'll eventually get served. Don't be in a rush and expect them to waste immense amounts of time talking to each other and patrons (and that's fine with me, I've come to expect it). The foods amazing and usually worth the price of admission.. today I waited and waited and they took people right off the street before me ignoring the stupid papers and I asked them like wtf?
google avatar

Laurie H.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick breakfast, Cafe con Leche, and guava pastelitos. The breakfast sandwich (egg, ham, cheese on Cuban toast) was delicious! Toasted cuban bread with butter is my kryptonite. There was a bit of a wait but worth it.
google avatar

Ciri D.

Yelp
I visit this particular Pinecrest Bakery location frequently, and have always had a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and helpful and the desserts and coffee are always delicious. I will continue to visit this bakery anytime I'm in the mood for a Cuban decadent treat.
google avatar

Marci A.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious empanadas, croquetas, treats and everything else. I even enjoyed their flan (and I'm super picky when it comes to flans) but my friends surprised me with one for my bday and I was delighted. Definitely give this place a try!
google avatar

Veronica J.

Yelp
I have no idea why there are so many of these places around because they are not very good. Went in today and got a tamal en casuela. What I got was this sweet orange concoction that was horrible. There was very little corn taste to it. I was only able to have a couple bites and had to throw it out. My two coworkers didn't care for it either. I was still hungry so I decided on a meat pastelitos with ham and cheese. The meat pastelito was also sweet in a weird sort of way. The house croquetas were also a fail. They are so big and pasty that you take a bite and you have to choke the thing down. Not sure what makes this place popular but except for maybe a cafe con leche on the run they won't be seeing me.
google avatar

Melissa V.

Yelp
Want a quick pan con bistec at 1:00am this is your spot in kendall. Came by one night after a night out and wow I was surprised how large and good my sandwich was. I'm a fan of Pinecrest bakeries and will now be a regular to this one since it's my home.
google avatar

Claudia J.

Yelp
In the corner of 97 ave and Kendall Dr this Pinecrest Bakery stands out from the outside. The chandelier at the entrance marks it, it is said to be what they are known for. Some people having coffee, pastelitos... thay also sell beer..!!! Go figure! Pastilos are good but a bit on the pricier side. A tray of 25 pastelito is $10.50, for: pastelitos de queso, carne y guayaba. Those are typically the 3 pastelitos that come in a tray. Pastelitos are good. Get your coffee and something sweet from here!
google avatar

Tere B.

Yelp
Every time I try this establishment I am always discriminated against because I am a "gringa". They make me wait and serve people who walk in the door after me, they do the order incorrect, when they are questioned they get indignant.

Awo I.

Yelp
google avatar

Paola P.

Yelp
No I'm not Cuban... but bakeries with all these yummy items stole mY heart many years ago... If you have 20 minutes to spare and you driving on the busy Kendall Drive... stop and just have a cafecito ... and a croqueta... or empanada ! Why not? You are in Miami
google avatar

Yelp
This restraunt is so close to perfection. With amazing food served at all hours of the day; 24/7, Pinecrest Bakery is certainly one of my go-to places for late-night snacks. The one main reason why I'm giving it three stars is the service. It sometimes takes ~10 minutes for my party and I to order basic items off the menu, usually because there are no english-speaking employees present. This creates an unnessecary discrepancy and if the food wasn't so good, then it wouldn't be worth going anymore.
google avatar

Mercedes C.

Yelp
It's amazing I walk in to buy a $24 cake. I asked about what the cake was made of maybe chocolate perhaps as the orange and chocolates on display. The employee looked at me and replied. I DONT KNOW. I DIDNT BAKE IT. I was taken back by this rude rude woman's lack of desire to do her job. So I asked another employee who readily answered my question. I asked her for a birthday sign. She disappeared and said NO WE DO NOT HAVE ANY. Again I asked the other employee who again readily found and handed her a sign. I doubt I will return to this establishment. I do not like being dismissed with lazy overtones. This woman should be working in the back with no customer contact. Maybe she can become a baker!!! You guys are losers!!

Mimi H.

Yelp
Very long wait and the most terrible thing happened. We were on line and the people at the table noticed a cockroach on the wall he told the attendant and she told him"are you scared "he replied "no" so she said "just kill it" I will never step foot in that place again.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
I had really high hopes for this place and was disappointed. For years I had driven by and seen the 24h sign and upon investigating what kind of food was served there (I'm a native Miami-an but had never heard of this chain), I thought "wow it's really cool to have an all night place where you can drop in whenever to grab a Cuban coffee or pastelito or croqueta." Great idea on paper, seeing as how La Carreta and Sergios etc close in the evening. I sometimes work odd hours and this appealed to me. Finally gave it a shot a few months ago and man, it wasn't a great experience. Standard Cuban food, but lower on the quality scale, slightly more expensive for some items and served up with quite an attitude, at a very slow rate. I went at like 1:30 to dine in for lunch and got out at like 3:00. The tables were kind of dirty. I stood in line and made my selections mentally. Then came the wait. It wasn't peak lunch hour, mind you. Had it been earlier like 12 when lunch places are busier I don't even want to imagine how bad it would be. I was like #8 or 9 in line. There were three employees working. I know they are short staffed, and food services are hard work, but I'm also smart enough to realize when people are screwing around and being lazy. The three employees looked miserable and delivered some of the worst customer service I've ever had. They were moving at a snail's pace, not giving a damn about the ever growing line in the restaurant which eventually grew to like 20-something people, while they continued to crawl around at school-zone speed. Two people ahead of me were eventually served and had to complain because it was all wrong. It took like 35 minutes for me to get to the front of the line. At one point two of the employees moved off to the side to engage in a private 5 minute conversation about who knows what. I should have just left but I had hopes the food would be worth it especially after already committing so much time to wait. I ordered a scrambled egg sandwich on Cuban toast, a couple croquetas and a cafe con leche. Holy Christ after ordering it took 45 minutes for my food to be ready; it was almost an hour and 20 minutes (80 minutes!!) from the time I walked in til I sat down at a table to eat. The guy who rang me up told me he would give me a discount if I paid him in cash. Very odd, sounded shady quite honestly, especially when he gave me tremendous resistance to give me a receipt after I paid. I had to ask twice and he huffed and puffed audibly when he was forced to press a few quick strokes on the register to print it for me after pretending not to hear me several times. But I wasn't going to take a chance with an order screw-up after witnessing the mess with the people before me. The food was meh. Ok, but not great. Stale, old reheated croquetas, coffee was cold (almost as if they had prepared it first and let it sit while they crawled through making my food), and the sandwich was butter and grease galore. Ended up with a stomachache and what was going to be a "quick bite" turned out to take just as long as if I had sat down to dine-in at a full blown restaurant with table service. Probably won't ever return (I'd rather drive to sergios or la carreta and get a quick bite from their window), unless it's for literally a quick coffee, NOT at peak hours (late in evening maybe). MAYBE.
google avatar

Lorin G.

Yelp
I came here late at night (9pm) for a quick bite with my friend who's also in a wheelchair. We arrived and weren't greeted at all. No one even acknowledged us. There was one table seated and the place was empty. We sat ourselves at a table and waited for someone to come over. No one did. So I went to order at the counter, apparently this is standard. I ordered a sandwich and a large coffee. I was given a small cold coffee and had to reorder a medium and requested it hot. I was given 2 smalls and was asked to wait for my sandwich at the table. It took a few more minutes for it to arrive. Sandwich was mediocre. I eat media noches regularly. I like my cheese melted and the meats to be warm inside. This was not. Cheese wasn't even warm let alone melted and the meats were cold. My friends sandwich took forever. He got a chicken philly and enjoyed it. We ordered some croquetas and dessert to go. Still have yet to try my flan cheesecake which looks and smells amazing. I rated this place a 4 simply because after some time staff became super friendly and helpful and was overly trying to assist myself and my friend when getting ready to leave. I may just continue to order the pastaletos from here in the morning and leave it at that because I have never had coffee here and really enjoyed it. Would never come back for a media noche either.

Yelp
If i can give this place 0 stars i would! The beef empanada was horrible no taste and the meat super dry, it completely grossed me out after one bite! The tostada super dry as well barely any butter, had to throw that out too. The pastelito de guava y queso was a mountain of just breading! This place sucks and won't be back for sure!

Yelp
OMG how delicious!! What not to love about this new bakery recently opened in Pincrest? My daughter and I loved it because of many reasons: 1. Indoor and outdoor seating. 2. Delicious food. 3. Over 8 people working in here. 4. Neat place, although they still need more people, because they were so busy that our table was dirty...we didn't mind and enjoyed our food after we cleaned it. 5. Reasonable price. 6. Excellent and very attentive service. We are definitely coming for more, as they are open 24/7 and their variety of pastries and cakes looked tempting. Today we had cheese tequeno (I liked it but not my daughter), Ham and Cheese empanada ( it was wonderful, full of flavor and lots of ham) and the BEST Media Noche sandwich I have tried so far. This was made with a semi sweet moist cuban bread, filled with ham, cheese, mayo, pickles and so much flavor. I loved it. Thank you and see you next time! Me encantó. Gracias y nos vemos la próxima vez!

Yelp
I was excited to come here after work since I leave at midnight. I was happy to find something that was open late and the best part is they are open 24h. This is pretty much your standard latin bakery but they have some other pastries I haven't tried like nutella pastelito. I ordered the nutella cheese pastelito and pan con bistec. The sandwich was made to order and it was good. The bread was fresh and they added lettuce and tomatoes. The steak was tender and easy to eat. There wasn't much flavor to the sandwich because there was a lot of bread. The pastelito was pretty heavy and not what I expected from a nutella pastelito.
google avatar

Damian R.

Yelp
The food here is okay. The pastelitos are really bad, they really greasy and taste way too buttery. When you bite into one the pastelito is yellow on the inside, i think that kind of confirms my suspicions about the butter. The service here is also pretty bad. I understand they get super busy and are trying to work as quick as possible but they should treat every customer with respect.

Keffin E.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Not one employee speaks a lick of English. God FORBID you speak English. They treat you like a third world citizen. Last time I checked this was the United States of America. No wonder their reviews are trash!

Evelyn A.

Yelp
I just had the worst pan con lechón (pork sandwich) sandwich I have ever had. They put the scraps that you throw away in the sandwich. Pollo tropical makes a much better sandwich.
google avatar

Alexa C.

Yelp
I like this spot because I find the menu quite comforting aS a self-proclaimed croqueta master. Not only are they open 24 hours but they're located right on that Kendall cusp that's actually accesible. I even rolled in the other night with the RHCP playing through the speakers. Tremendo sanguishes pero please be refinada and add queso suizo to your pan con bistec como lo hago yo. The fresh juices are a perfect accompaniment to your Colada. The empanadas are a winner making it the perfect breakfast or lunch on the go. If you don't feel like waiting, call your order ahead of time. It's one of the most recognizable bakery chains around Miami so I'm glad the easternish souwesera gets a slice of this pie. You can't miss it when you're driving past it, you'll recognize the bright yellow and red lighting.

Yelp
Amazing, I love the customer service. I work in a fast paced environment and I was trying to order by phone , so I had to call many times just to do one order (because of my job) and the girls always answered nicely (I know I'm picky with my orders) Then I wanted to order with their delivery, but it was too expensive for just 2 blocks from the bakery ($5), so I tried Uber eats... more economic. My order was a little bit annoying, I ordered a breakfast plate, but with colada instead of cafe con leche, whole wheat instead of Cuban toast, and croquetas instead of fries... Then They called me to choose another kind of croquetas cause they didn't have the ones that I love (bacalao home made... they're FIRE! Recommend 100%) and the lady was super nice and patient. Thank you so much. Muchas gracias.

I understand that everyone's experience can be very different based on many variables. Below is my experience. Two weeks ago, I ordered $35.00 of Cuban comfort food for my mother and her grandchildren off the menu via Pinecrest Bakery website. Location: 9710 SW 88th St, Miami, FL 33176 When I arrived, I stepped up to the pickup window. There was a male and female employee discussing what apparently concerned internal/operational procedures. Seemed important. They were too busy to acknowledge me. But, there was another employee, hands behind back. I addressed this person stating my last name explaining I was here for a pick up. Employee asked my name (huh?); I stated my last name again. This person asked my name once more so this time I gave my first name. Finally, this person said "Thank You" Next question, "What application did you use?" I explained that, "I ordered from your website". I was asked yet again, "What application?" I remembered seeing Grubhub on website so I said, "Grubhub?" This person then stated "That's what I was asking you" In a very condescending manner. This person, obviously, assumed I used an app on my phone. Continuing, I was then told my order does not exist. I told this person that the order does exist and was already paid for. Employee then approached the woman who was engaged in the important conversation with male employee I mentioned at the start of this review. I was told, "nope" order does not exist..." Oh wait!" This person says..."Here it is but it is not ready" However, I ordered 45 minutes earlier and website indicated it was ready. So, I waited maybe 5 to 10 minutes and my order was filled. Food was mediocre. Cold, pastellitos were dry. ...and customer care, in my experience, was as bad as it gets. I will not be returning. I do not blame the employees. This is a management issue.
