No frills deli that hits it out of the park. Had the daily special; ham, turkey, bacon, and pepper jack cheese. Fries were included. The food and service were incredible. Prices are a little high, but totally worth it. Fries were perfect! The meat was so flavorful. We are working in the area. We will definitely be back.

This is a mom and pop shop restaurant at its finest. Had me 16oz ribeye steak with a side salad and a few beers. Steak was good

Unpopular opinion warning, sorry! Our 1st visit wasnt a very good impression, but today is Small Business Saturday, so we went in to try again, this time to try the burgers everyone raves about. We ordered 2 cheeseburgers cooked Medium, one with Kettle Chips, one with Onion Rings. For $40, we had high hopes. The atmosphere was awkward. Community tables are fine but they are rickety as all get out. No one busses their own mess, so if it had been previously occupied, you have to move their plates out of your way and wipe the crumbs off. The burgers arrived just as that it's-taking-too-long feeling creeps in. The bottom buns got so soggy, so fast that they were already disintegrating. The patties were thick and had so much char, bitterness was all you could taste. The meat itself was unseasoned and flavorless. The kettle chips were okay, on the thicker side, so the ones that were overcooked weren't pleasant to eat. The onion rings tasted of raw flour with globs of uncooked batter. I was excited to see homemade baklava in the case so I brought home a box of 4 pieces ($9). I was so disappointed to find dry dry DRY Baklava. Where's the honey??? The staff seems nice enough, so please don't take our experience as an insult. Either everyone has low standards or we got them on another bad day. They definitely do have a big fan base, and we're glad they have such a following! We are only two who will not be back.

Google
Pinegrove Market and Deli came highly recommended by several of our friends, and they were right to brag about this unique neighborhood restaurant. My husband and I did not order any items that were the same so that we could try as many dishes as possible. Wow! Each and every choice exceeded our expectations. We plan to return at least once a week until we have tried every delicious morsel.

I've been a customer for 45 years...living just a few blocks away then, but now cross the River to buy their incredible meats. Other day, I got 2 uncooked pork tenderloins, sliced roast beef and pastrami. All amazing.

Google
I went with my sisters tonight and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS. My sisters had steak and I had the pork chops. Everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was very attentive and friendly. This was our first visit will certainly will not be the last one.

Google
$20 for an overcooked burger, ordered medium rare and got well done, was kept waiting for 35 minutes before I even received my food. My wife ordered a potato salad side and received a tiny little dollop of potato salad, barely enough for two spoonfuls. Not worth the money.

Yelp
Recently took my son and daughter-in-law to Pinegrove. We had to share this gem that we found. As always, my wife and order then split what we have. This time we tried the chicken breast sandwich along with the patty melt (remember the patty melt-it's a banger). These two were simply fantastic as well. The chicken sandwich was lightly fried. The juiciness and taste of the chicken really comes through. The patty melt-the best you'll have anywhere. As always, great service, great casual local hangout. If you haven't tried this place, give it a shot. Highly recommended.

Yelp
The staff was very welcoming and truly feels like a neighborhood staple. I had a Cuban with onion rings. The Cuban was layered well and while it didn't absolutely blow me away compared to some of Jax's best, the onion rings were an absolute delight, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I sampled a bit of my wife's burger and the flavors blew me away. It had a perfect cook on it and would absolutely be my order next time. I do hope during that next visit, their A/C and soda machine is fixed though. It was quite uncomfortable for a summer afternoon inside even with the portable units they had brought in.

Yelp
LOVE this local spot! We came here for lunch while visiting my in-laws for their anniversary on July 4th since they highly recommended it. The parking is a little difficult so be aware of that. Their menu is written out on a huge chalkboard on the entire right wall, and they have some huge variety. I ordered a medium-rare burger with cheese and a side of fries. They don't have fountain drinks here with the exception of lemonade and tea, but they do have a refrigerated section of soda cans and bottles, plus bottles of water. This was one of the best cooked burgers I've ever had in my life. Beautifully cooked, tender, and the buns were fresh and soft. I'll be raving about this place for some time!

Yelp
Unassuming place with fantastic food. Highly recommend reviewing the menu ahead of time since it's easier than reading the wall and trying to order at the counter. This was our third visit and we brought some others with us. Small Space inside with tables that can be pushed together for larger groups. There is also an outside patio area that would be nice in cooler weather. Parking lot next to the building allows for easy parking. I recommended any burger and the onion rings. The burgers are delicious and my favorite onion rings anywhere. I had a salad topped with steak today, just wish they had additional dressing options (blue cheese would be perfect!). One in our party had the trio salad and loved both the homemade tabouli and the chicken salad. The French fries are a good side option as well. No fountain drinks, only cans and bottles, but I love the option for crushed ice and water.

Yelp
Walked into a very unassuming place. Did get greeted quickly and checked out the menu. They serve mostly burgers, sandwiches/wraps and salads. They do have a few dinner choices pork chops, steak options. He got the Italian sandwich and I hit the Raj burger both with fries and a bottle drink. They do not have fountain drinks but did have a lemonade and tea options with an ice machine. His sandwich consisted of beef salami, honey cured ham, pepperoni, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, Kalamata olives, Italian dressing, Swiss cheese on a French baguette, served with fries as a side. Price was posted as $16. It was about a 6inch long sandwich. Mine was a steak burger asked for it cooked medium, grilled pastrami, white American cheese a fried green tomato and lettuce on grilled bun with fries as a side $16 also getting 2 bottled diet cokes. My burger was a bit overcooked no pink inside whatsoever. I really wanted to like this place after seeing so many good reviews but honestly I probably won't go back. Looking at the pictures of the menu, I'm not sure if the side is included because we paid $45 without putting a tip on the card and only ordering the sandwiches with no upgrades that were actually showing additional charges. I think that is extremely high for what we received. Make sure to check for the prices because their website pricing must be a bit old without updated pricing. I can at least say we tried it and that's it.

Yelp
Was in the area and found Pinegrove Market and Deli on yelp and decided to give it a try for lunch. I decided to try a hamburger with onion rings. The burger was thick and very meaty and came with my choice of toppings. The onion rings (which were an additional charge) were excellent and clearly made in house. My lunch partner had the Jimmy's Hot Press with fries and said it was really good. Surprisingly even with a packed house right at lunch time on a Friday they had ample parking and getting in and out wasn't a problem. This is a local favorite.

Yelp
When you want a burger designed by a palate that truly appreciate's flavor, and you are hungry for a lunch that's substantial, take the time to go and find Pinegrove Market, Deli, and Butcher shop. If you first think it's off the beaten path, just wait, we will be (b)eating down that path again soon. My beloved wife opted for The Greek, a "lamb burger" that she shared only too little of because it was delicious. I tried The Hoss steak burger, and so treated my tongue to the gentle yet noticeable spice on a delicious blend of beef, cheese, and onion. Is "scrumptious" still in acceptable vocabulary? It may seem odd, to have with a burger, but the green beans I chose (to limit carbs because of the bun) were deliciously flavored. Green beans as remarkable? Whoddathunkit?, but 'twas. Very kind and friendly folks working there. We hads other stops yesterday, but I'd like to take home some of their dry aged beef, apparently cut to order in the shop, to try grilling this later summer.

Yelp
Small Hidden gem, I have lived nearby for years and never knew about this place. I enjoyed my experience here and look forward to returning.

Yelp
Pinegrove Market & Deli is a Jacksonville institution. After being introduced to Pinegrove by a friend many moons ago, I've still been going here for years and always leave full and happy. It's great to walk into a place where the owners know you by name, even if you haven't been by in longer than you'd like. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. I usually bounce between getting a burger, the Nader (Roast Beef with tabouli), or the Jacksonville classic Steak-In-A-Sack. The onion rings are delectable, all the salads are made fresh, and the baklava is to die for. I haven't made it during dinner time to have one of their steak or pork chop dinners yet, but I have set a goal of doing that before or for my birthday in June this year. You would think after all this time that I would have taken advantage of the butcher shop side of the house, but I've always just preferred to eat my meal in Pinegrove's cozy dining area. However, those cuts always look amazing.

Yelp
I cannot believe I've never been to this place before now! What a hidden gem that hit every mark to a T. This is a family owned meat market and restaurant that you can tell they pour their heart and soul into! They are so friendly and provide great customer service. My boyfriend and I ordered a Caesar salad to start, I got the steak in a sack with homemade chips and he got the 16oz ribeye with onion rings and green beans. The portions are great for the price point. I can't think of any place in Jax that serves a ribeye with 2 sides for less than $30. The quality of the meat can't be beat! The steak in a sack had actual steak cut up rather than thin sliced steak, it was so juicy, flavorful and cooked to perfection! You know it's fresh and top quality when you get a preview of their delicious meats in the case. They have a vast menu of sandwiches, handhelds, salads, sides and entrees for dinner. They offer BOGO wine and beer out of the drink fridge and have homemade goodies from the grandmother of the family. Don't sleep on the homemade pickles!!

Yelp
Food was tasty! I had the Cuban and the portion size was two meals worth (at least). Friend had the patty melt. We ate inside, but they do have outside seating. Will try something else on the menu next - I'm sure it will be good.

Yelp
Always love our visits to the brothers place. Nice to see mom still occasionally. This family run Jacksonville institution is definitely worth a visit if you haven't been. Always busy at lunch - lots of working folks stopping in. In addition to their amazing sandwiches, they are a full service butcher shop, including aged steaks and house made sausages. It not a fancy place rather a neighborhood hang out. Their Friday and Saturday fish and shrimp fry nights also well worth it. Lastly they do steak and pork chop dinners during the week as well. Good value.

Yelp
We love Pinegrove! Swing by this restaurant and butcher if you're in the mood for beef! Great burgers. The Hoss is the one to order. Their lamb burger is also excellent if you're looking for something different. I haven't tried the patty melt yet, but a lot of people rave about that as well. Onion rings are incredible, definitely the best side I have had here. The fries are good too, but nowhere near as special as their onion rings. Baked potato is cooked right, but it needs salt. Caesar salad is excellent - I highly recommend it. Also recommend splitting the Caesar with someone else if you get it, because it's huge. One thing I appreciate about this place is that they cook everything perfectly. The temperatures are just right and the beef is perfectly rested. They know how to cook! That being said, while they cook their steak perfectly, I do not think I would get it again because the flavors aren't to my preference. I found it to be too heavy on Worcestershire and oregano for my taste. I would prefer if they cooked the steaks more simply, and let the marbling flavor of the beef shine more. Steve-O is the best!

Yelp
I absolutely love Pinegrove and have been coming here for a few years now. We walked in today and I told my boyfriend that I had to check in and finally review because I have yet to do so. Every other visit has been 5 stars and I am only taking one star off due to today as this was a new issue that i've not had here before. To start, this is a local spot and i'm very much about spending my money with small businesses. There is limited parking in the front, but there is a good-sized gravel lot to the right of the building. This is a counter-order food spot and you seat yourself then they bring the food out to you. The vibe inside is always buzzing and I love that. It's not the sterile meh interior so many new spots have. The fountain drink machine has been down for a few months now, but they have bottled and canned drinks also beer and some wine too. They have water as well by the fountain drinks (I believe). Guy at the counter was great and we chatted for a bit. My bf and I both got 6oz. burgers with fries - I got mine with only Ketchup and mustard. He got his with Cheese, bacon, and ketchup. The guy asked me if I wanted cheese and I said no, thank you; good to go. These are cooked to order and usually takes about 20-25 minutes depending on how busy it is. The line can sometimes go out the door and it's worth it. Our burgers with 3 drinks came to about $40, but coming once a month or so, i'm good with it. My problem today came with the food. This is my first time having the order come out wrong, but once again - mistakes happen and I just let the cook know. My bf's came out right and mine had cheese. I let him know I asked for no cheese. I let me boyfriend know since it's starting to get busy and people are piling in to order and pick up orders that he can start eating because it'll probably be 10-15 minutes since I got Med. Well. He said he would wait and within 5 minutes, my burger came out. At first, I thought maybe they pushed a burger from another order out to get mine out faster, but then I look. They scraped off the cheese and flipped my burger upside down with the condiments on that side. There was still a little bit of cheese stuck to the sides. Now, I could have said something then and spoken to the manager, but for me - 1. I was hungry and missed breakfast so I picked the rest off and threw down. 2. I don't have an allergy 3. They were really busy and I just didn't want to go there. I will be sending a separate email/message to them via the website just so they're in the know. My big issue is that I don't want someone with a severe allergy to have this happen because that's just not a good time for anyone and I want to make sure their team has had training/been informed about these things. People get busy and mistakes happen, but I don't want it to be THAT kind of mistake. That being said - this was my first time having this issue after probably a dozen or more visits so I am going to assume that this isn't regular practice. I will continue to support them and tell people to visit because they are a solid business with yummy food.

Yelp
This is a neighborhood staple and a really great place for not only lunch or dinner but to buy fresh meats and other foods. My husband tried the patty melt and onion rings, which was a first for me as well. The onion rings had a really tasty batter and crunch. I ordered the Jimmy's Hot Press and got steamed broccoli. The sandwich was great and the tabouli was fresh and tasty per usual. The broccoli was not great, over cooked unfortunately. But typically I wouldn't order the broccoli anyway. Fast service and friendly staff. We got our food at a great time even considering the lunch rush. Really enjoy this place for the dine in experience, maybe one day I will try take out options and their dinner options. Great place with a prime location, cute outdoor seating, and ample indoor seating too.

Lyric G.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing dessert, fast service for handmade burgers, the interior is nice, just a great place overall. 10/10, Definitely coming back. (Try the baklava!)

Yelp
It always good eats when you can get to Pinegrove deli, today was no exception! I ordered a special of shrimp and fried fish with slaw and fries. I got 12 spring and a 8" piece of fish.. delicious. The others got chicken salad with humus and a corned beef sandwich...everyone was happy!

Sam D.

Yelp
Honestly I want to like this place. I've been twice, live around the corner so it's convenient. Seems really good but is just suspect. Chicken salad sandwich where the chicken salad was hot?? Idk. Last time I ate there I got sick (Patty melt) and didn't go back for a couple years. Stay away lol. Place needs to get it together. Pretty gross.

Yelp
Absolutely love Pine Grove Market & Deli! It's been one of my favorite lunch spots for years. When I worked in Ortega, it was a weekly stop. Now working from home, I don't get as many opportunities :( Their sandwiches are fresh & tasty - they use quality meats & cheeses. My favorite is the St John's (not just for the name) & usually pair it with their delicious potato salad. Their daily specials like shrimp & grits or fish fry are very popular I've also used their butcher shop - one of the best in town. Super high quality cuts.

Yelp
Midday on a Saturday hubby and I are usually looking for a sandwich spot. We had Pinegrove Market & Deli on our radar and decided to give them a try. We walked in and were second in line to order which gave us a couple minutes to check the menu out. Hubby had been craving a Cuban sandwich so he ordered that along with potato salad. I decided to try something out of the norm and picked the Camel Rider with house-made chips. We sat down and our order was out before we knew it. Both sandwiches were very good. The Cuban had a good amount of meat of it. They did use sliced pork instead of pulled pork. Pickles were spread nicely throughout. The spicy mustard instead of yellow mustard was a nice twist on a classic. The potato salad had really good texture and was simply seasoned. The Camel Rider was tasty with a mix of ham, salami and bologna topped with fresh lettuce and tomato. I really liked the Italian dressing and banana peppers on it. The pita tasted very fresh and was the perfect vehicle for this sandwich. I enjoyed the house-made chips a lot, they were perfectly crunchy & delicious. On our way out, we decided to pick up a dry aged NY strip to grill for dinner. It was amazing! Fresh and delicious with just salt and pepper. The employees were also very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth paying this gem a visit!
google avatar

Bill Taylor C.

Yelp
Let's first be clear: the food is excellent. The service sucks. The ambiance is even less appealing. Ordering (at a counter) is tedious, when it takes saying the same thing FOUR times before it actually becomes part of the order. As is reminding repeatedly about the beverages, which have been forgotten. And then there's the "out of" -- cocktail sauce for the shrimp (or not for, obviously). The capper was the baked potato . . . served without anything whatsoever, just dropped, and the server was gone. Epically bad would be a generous assessment.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Family owned, small business, with incredible service that matches their great quality of food. I was surprised and treated to lunch at this gem. The Pinegrove Market & Deli is very unassuming, but clearly stands the test of time. This place is historic and has been in the community for generations. A butcher shop that's known for it fresh cuts of beef and pork also serves lunch and dinner that is filling as it is flavorful. It's a must! The patrons are just as friendly. A place where most people have come for years. Everyone can suggest their favorite. The staff are also friendly and knowledgeable. The kindness was unparalleled.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Oh have mercy! I had the 20oz NY Strip, medium rare at the advice of the kind and wise young man taking orders. My steak was huge, flavorful and tender and perfectly done. It was accompanied by an excellent baked potato and some very fresh steamed broccoli. The guys in back were also so warm and welcoming. Great job Pine Grove!

Grady O.

Yelp
This butcher shop/deli is a real gem. The staff & other guest were very friendly. My wife & I popped in last minute & split a PRIME beef burger, it's great value compared to saving $4 bucks on a sub standard burger. God speed.
google avatar

Phil W.

Yelp
My wife and I just came back from the Deli. We went for their delicious fish sandwiches, and we were not disappointed. The fish was cooked perfectly and as always, it's a huge portion (definitely more than the bun can hold). We love Pinegrove Deli and will be back soon.

Janet K.

Yelp
Delicious sandwich's will definitely be back, went around noon it was very busy with a steady stream of customers, cannot wait to go back and try the steak sliders
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and fast service. Typical neighborhood style deli. The burger is one of the best in Jacksonville in my opinion.

Yelp
My neighborhood favorite! Friendly service and fantastic food! Now with expanded hours.

Yelp
Quiet place, great sandwiches, outstanding services. My go to is Patty Melt w onion rings. Many more original sandwich selection, plus custom cut steaks always available.

Yelp
Food is amazing! Lamb burger with homemade tabouli! The Ortega great! Of the chain Cuban sandwich and must get the potato salad. Love local! Check out the fresh cuts of beef for your grill

Yelp
After nearly 2 years living in Riverside/Avondale and multiple requests from good friends to join them at Pinegrove we finally made it in. Boy were we ever surprised. What looks like nothing fancy on the outside and is very down home on inside as well has amazing food. The menu is a huge chalkboard wall that could spend hours trying to figure out a selection. They also have a nightly steak/chops dinner you can try or weekends I think they have a fish fry. We were a party of 12 celebrating a bday and they even let us bring a cake and stored it in fridge while we ate. Since they are a butcher shop and their burgers are ground steak i decided to try the burger. I got the Hoss that has onion rings, special sauce and option for a fried egg. I forgot to order the egg, next time. The burger was soo good, soft, juicy, wow! the fries were bag steak fry but they were fresh from frier and delicious. Hubby is Vegan so he got the Victoria w/o cheese and said the pita, veggies and tabouli was some of the freshest he has had at any restaurant! Others in the party had the italian sub and are NYers and said it was honestly best he has had since leaving NYC. His wife had NY Strip dinner and the steak was so thick, huge slab of beef and looked like it was a perfect med rare. She raved about it. Our server was amazing, she was friendly, chatty, made jokes, took pics with our group and even shared the bday cake with her and the guys in kitchen. Now that we know, we WILL be back! i guess

Yelp
Great service, great food :) lamb burger and the Cuban are amazing! Also love their To-go sides!

Yelp
Came back again. Place was busy but food was coming out in a timely manner. They overcooked my steak again. Next time I'm going to ask for a different temperature and hope it comes out the way I want it. Mac and cheese is very good.

Yelp
I had never heard of this place before, but saw a top sandwich review on one of the local news stations. I did a little research and asked family and friends their opinions. Several people had been there and said "it's a very low key place with good food". One said the best steak ever for steaks to go and cook at home. And most, like me, had never heard of it. Turns out one of my friends asked if I could do lunch that day, so I suggested we try it even though I'm a vegetarian/pescatarian. Definitely no meat for me for over 35 years. But the hubby is a complete carnivore and lives for steak. I thought girls lunch and steak to go for the hubby. I had a veggie wrap and potato salad. The wrap was quite tasty. The potato salad needed a lot of salt and pepper but it had no onion and that made me happy! My friend had the patty melt and changed her bread to rye and she too had the potato salad. We both were pleased. I bought my husband a one pound ribeye and while he thought it was quite good, at $40 per pound, that is a very expensive cook at home steak. I would return for lunch but would not buy the meat to go at that price. Maybe it wasn't quite so expensive before the virus. But do check them out. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice varied menu. Very casual. Owners and staff were super friendly! I will be back!

Yelp
I've been eating at Pine Grove for years. It's one of my favorite spots in Jacksonville to go get lunch.

Yelp
The best!!!! A friend told us about Pinegrove, said we had to try it. I don't know what to even say other than AMAZING!!!! Melt in your mouth steak, onion rings were awesome (make sure you get the sauce!), shrimp and grits were delicious! We will be regulars here!

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner and was warmly welcomed by the staff. The food was great and cooked fresh upon ordering. Being new to the area, we are constantly looking to find locally owned restaurants to support and this establishment fit the bill. Nader, the owner, was also in the shop and was a very warm individual. The potato salad was shockingly delicious as well as the steak in a sack and the steak dinner!

Yelp
Have gone to Pinegrove for many years. Their food is Delicious . Attended Robert E Lee in the 70's and also Still love their Food!

Yelp
Went here for lunch today with a friend and had a great meal. I got the steak sandwich (chunks of chopped steak, peppers, onion and mushroom with cheese) and house made onion rings. My friend got the steak in a sack (same topping as my sandwich just in a pita) with fries. Both were so fully stuffed that the toppings were falling out. Everything was well cooked and fresh. I topped my steak with Nader Sauce (kind of a light spicy barbecue sauce) and dipped my onion rings in the bang bang sauce. They even bring it to your table after they make it. Such a great meal. Only complaint is there are no fountain sodas. Would have loved to have a fountain Coke with my sandwich.

Amy W.

Yelp
My husband and I loved the food and the conversation time we had with the owner. Friendly staff Their sandwiches are super tasty

Fred G.

Yelp
The dinners were wonderfully flavorful. Service to our table after ordering at the register was prompt and friendly. Seating, indoor and out, is very casual and comfortable. It was fun to see a butcher explaining how steaks would be cut from a large section of beef, using the actual beef as a visual aid.

Yelp
Pinegrove is definitely where the main character of a novel would eat. It's tucked away in a neighborhood lined with trees and is so unpretentious it's refreshing. You walk in through the double doors and get the sense that everyone knows each other. So far, I've had the chance to order the Ortega and the chicken sliders. Both are incredible, but the sliders are perfect after a night out ;). I've chosen the fries as my side both times because they are cooked just the way I like them. They're crispy and full of flavor. I will definitely enjoy eating my way through their menu.

Brittney M.

Yelp
The food was amazing! I had The Greek burger and once I took a bite I couldn't put it down. I also bought some of the fresh pita. it was so soft.

Yelp
There's a reasons they have been open for over 60 years! Quality Deli and Butcher! Whether your looking to purchase Butcher Style red Meats, Chicken, Pork, Sausage to take home and prepare or looking to have something prepared for you, with a menu that offers Breakfast until 1pm, Burgers, Deli sandwiches, and Dinner plates (evenings), this is the place for you! Although the place is small and you may have to wait on a table, the service is fast and the quality of food you receive is well worth any wait. There is also additional seating located on the side patio. I had the Hot Italian and they didn't spare on the meat, I couldn't finish all of my sandwich even though I tried!! Haha! It was like a Mozzarella and Provolone grilled cheese with Capicola, Genoa Salami, Pastrami and Applewood Bacon between grilled pressed Sourdough Bread. You have to try it out! Absolutely Delicious! And the homemade Kettle Style chips are a perfect side! The atmosphere is relaxed so wear your stretchy pants and enjoy yourself haha! I promise you will be back, it only takes one visit before your hooked! I would like to try out their Dinner plates, and they have a Fish Fry on Friday and Saturday that sounds Amazing! I'll be back, I'm sure I'll see you there! ;D

Yelp
If you want a fresh hand grounded burger this is the place. Its a deli, no its a butcher shop, no its a store, its all these in one. Its the place in the neighborhood where the locals goes on Saturday morning for breakfast and conversation. They have great sandwiches with various sides just look on the wall and pick you fav. Wanna a glass of wine with that Croissant or a beer with your steak, no problem. Don't forget to take home some Hummus and Pita chips...mmmmmm. Watch for their food truck out and about too!

Yelp
This "hidden" treasure is in the heart of Avondale, tucked down a residential street in a small unassuming building. There is a small parking lot located next door now, which is probably the only change they've made in many years. (It's a good one though.) Their meats are high quality and frankly worth the price. The people who work here are friendly and efficient and know what they are doing. I haven't had breakfast here but I'm a fan of their sandwiches, particularly their chicken salad. To be accurate, it's not what you expect in a "chicken salad" it's more what the Brits would call a "chicken paste" or a "chicken spread." It's super smooth white meat with nothing weird (like pickles or fruit) in it and just enough mayo to bind it. You can even just buy a tub of chicken salad to take home and make your own tea sandwiches to serve to the Queen. Or pretend to. Don't judge. My favorite sandwich there is the St. John's which is just chicken salad, provolone, & applewood bacon on grilled sourdough. Simple, but perfect. I shared a picture of it, doesn't photograph well, sorry, but trust me, it was delicious. I usually get the chips but you can substitute other sides, and I tried the Greek pasta salad last time. Quite good. Nice dressing with a generous amount of feta, olives and pimientos in it. It was an enjoyable change. They also have homemade baklava which is delicious. I tried that as well for the very first time. A lot of people avoid it, thinking it would be too sweet, but it's not. It was a perfect balance of savory nut meats and butter with a very earthy honey. I've heard the owner's wife makes it - if so, she's a master. Pinegrove is big on social media, so follow them on Facebook, etc., to keep up with specials and other events.

Yelp
The Pine Grove is a special little hidden gem that truly cares about the quality of food that they put out to their customers. From their breakfast platters all the way to the cut and cooked Steak dinners! You definitely can't go wrong choosing from the menu. Being in business for more than 60 years as a local butcher turned restaurant really shines through with their Meat options. From the Many Steak choices, Ground Chuck for burger, Thick cut Pork Chops all their choice to make their own breakfast sausage for the breakfast platter and Biscuits & gravy! Please support this local family owned small business. You won't Regret it!

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. I really did. I love local, well established, down home... all those types of descriptions. Going in, I felt all of it. Good stuff. I went in on a Saturday afternoon. The service at the counter was friendly and attentive, along with info on what is in fresh and specials of the day. But the food was a disappointment. The cleanliness was a little lacking too with the dishes it was served on and the film on the table and chairs. I will not be returning but I do wish them the best of continued success.

Yelp
This family owned gem provides much more then amazing food. Greeted with a friendly smile as I walked in, they were very kind in running through the menu with me. If you want beef, this is where you want to go! They have other enticing others too... But beef, it's what's for dinner, and lunch, and possibly breakfast too depending how I'm feeling. The business opened back in 1968. I even had the please of meeting Mr Bader himself. He started the business as a butcher and now the family has taken the wheel to add a very scintillating menu. I saw the picture of the steak sandwich. I got the steak sandwich. I was very happy with my steak sandwich. The sandwich comes loaded with veggies, and enough chunky steak bites to make any tummy smile. They make many of their items in house so I topped it off with onion rings and their lemonade. They also have two different sauces that you have to try. I know which one I liked the most but you can decide for yourself. If they are open, and you are anywhere near this fantastic business, do yourself a favor, and then thank me later.
