‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ filming locations: how Marvel’s retro-futuristic 1960s was created

Described as the MCU’s adopted homeland for this production, this major studio complex outside London hosted a big chunk of the 85‑day shoot, beginning in late July 2024. The vast majority of the film’s 1960s New York locations – including Yancy Street in the Lower East Side, Times Square, and Reed Richards’ lab in the Baxter Building – were created across 30 sets on eight sound stages on its two backlots. The alternative 1960s Times Square, complete with recreated period premises like Horn & Hardart, Whelan’s, Leighton’s, RKO Palace, Embassy Theatre and Forum Cinema, was built here at 22 percent smaller than the real location, with Julia Garner calling the combination of set design, the scale of the set, and simply shooting at Pinewood “really magical.” Specific stages like S Stage and W Stage were used for Reed Richards’ lab and the Reeds’ penthouse, highlighting the studio’s flexibility and scale. - Phil de Semlyen

We attended a recording of the Lee Mack sit com Not Going out. Pinewood studios are well known for being the home of the British film industry. If you are visiting it is best to drive as public transport is not a good option

Attended the Futures Festival here and couldn’t have been more impressed with the afternoon and evening. Our guide took us round a number of sound stages - our favourite being The Imaginarium Studios. Fantastic experience - highly recommended if you get the opportunity to attend

I’ve been to a few recordings here. There is onsite parking, the staff managing the car park were great. They have a marquee with seats. So if you arrive early you don’t have to stand in the cold queuing. They offered me a complimentary beer on arrival and gave me a number with my place in the queue. There was also a place to purchase tea, coffee, soft drinks and crisps. The recording did take a long time, but was very entertaining. We also had comedian Suzi Ruffle as warm up, she was really funny and entertaining too. It was a great night out, really enjoyed it.

Very impressive and exciting to see somewhere so legendary with my own eyes. I've only been to the gate but it lived up to my expectations, and it is fantastic to see the 007 sound stage from the road!

Excellent theatre.. We went to watch NO TIME TO DIE 007 on the opening night. What a way to see Bond where it was filmed. On the 85th Anniversary we all got a book as a gift. Place to visit once atleast.

Went to the Remembrance Service for past members of the Army Film and Photographers Unit from WW2 to Present day as an honorary member. Beautiful function room with stage front and bar facilities in a separate room. I gather it’s often used as a wedding venue which looks as though it would be very stylish.

Fantastic private tour of Pinewood Studios the home of films in the UK. It was great to see where the James Bond movies were made. Pinewood has an enviable history of films including Star Wars, Skyfall, Casino Royale and too many to mention. We passed Goldfinger Avenue, the street where the film was shot to the iconic 007 Stage the largest soundstage in Europe which also was used for the submarine scenes in the Spy Who Loved me. You see massive amoubt of work and skill that goes into making films. Very friendly people who love working there. Also got to have lunch in Hitchcock's Grill in the original old Manor house, Heatherden Hall where you can see the Awards including Oscars and BAFTAS. Thanks to the team at Pinewood for a wonderful memorable day!

Yelp
Pinewood Studios is quite possibly the greatest place on Earth. Or at least, the greatest place in Iver, Bucks. This is where the movies get made. It might not be in Hollywood, but Hollywood often visits. The key is to play it cool. The fact that you're standing next to Tom Hanks, or the fact you've snuck onto the Bond Set -- these mean nothing to you, that's how you have to play it. If you want to belong, if you don't want to get kicked out, then you need to pretend it means nothing, pretend you're not excited. Yep, even if you're standing next to Natalie Portman. There's something a bit magical about Pinewood Studios. Even though it's essentially just a big bunch of warehouses, the filmic history is impossible to deny. Some of the greatest pictures of all time have been shot here. What could be more fabulous than to see a big-budget crew working out a scene, or some dude chopping at some wood which will end up being part of a set on an oscar nominated movie. Whatever you're reason for being at Pinewood, stay cool. It's just the movies :)

Yelp
I love the Pinewood Stages! Been here a few times. The history the grandness of it all. I've been to some of the other properties in the pinewood family; Shepperton and Longcross. But if I had to pick one as my best friend it would be here. The history of these stages is in print at a book sold at the general store on the lot. I'll buy it as a coffee table book for sure. Sure it's cold and dreary London, but standing in the shadow of the infamous 007 stage makes you forget. Did you know that that stage is the largest of its kind and has burnt to the ground and been rebuilt twice? One of my favorite movies was recently filmed there. I am grateful that I do have a job in the film industry that can take me to hallowed grounds like these. I only wish sometimes that I was on the other side of the camera; next lifetime I will work on that. The Coture is the canteen that serves up decent food if your production is catering. Milk and Honey is a great little coffee shop next to the canteen that also has a wall of candy behind the counter I want to put in my face. If you find yourself here and for a length of time that requires you to do laundry, bring your clothes to the stages and speak to the garment care department. They offer reasonable prices for loads of laundry. Just to give an idea it's about £30 for a week and a half of dirty laundry. A fun thing to see is the double decker diner. It's a double decker bus that has been converted into a diner. I love it. I think I'm the only person that gets excited about see the DDD at lunch. This is an experience I wish I could share with my family and friends. The people, the sets, the artistry, so much to admire. Its hard to appreciate the work that is done to make a movie or how to convey that to others when they aren't intimately with the makings of films. I'm here for a long stint this time round, so I will be soaking it all in!

Yelp
Home of James Bond, Charlie and the Chocolate Family and a load of other big budget Hollywood blockbusters. Not open to the public, but if you ever get invited to one of the studios - make sure you visit!

Yelp
Lots of great movies have been made here, but I came twice in a week to see the taping of "Would I Lie to You". It was a lot of fun, and the taxi ride from the station wasn't too costly, so worth the time and effort.

Yelp
Pinewood studios is THE studio of the UK. it plays host to the sets of nearly every UK blockbuster and has a reputation of unmatched quality. but you need a cavernous wallet to use it.

Yelp
Probably the number one place for movie and tv programme making in the UK. I went there to see a taping for a tv show and got a good look of the outside of the 007 soundstage. It was well organised when we went there, with plenty of staff organising parking, wrist bands and showing people to the correct place.
