Great tour! I like mild fish so was looking forward to learning about the business more than the tasting. I loved going through the office space and learning about the company’s history. The factory tour was excellent. Explaining every step of the process and seeing all the equipment. Unfortunately it was a weekend so they were not processing fish, but we were able to walk the floor. And the tasting was great. I won’t be a regular sardine eater, but it was a great experience “when in Rome”. I highly recommend this to anyone in the Porto area!

Great visit to Pinhais canning factory! This tour is well worth doing if you're visiting Porto and want to learn more about sardine canning in Matosinhos. Known for it's excellent seafood and historic fishing industry, Matosinhos is within easy reach of Porto. The tour included time on the factory floor watching work in progress, learning historic context, watching some great videos, a hands-on experience wrapping our own sardine cans, and a sardine tasting at the end in their lovely restaurant. The tour lasted around 45 minutes, and the tasting was an additional 30 min, and we could stay as long as we wished. Enjoyed this so much! Highly recommend!

We are a family of 3 really enjoyed our tour today with Benjamin. We had it on a Saturday and had a close up of the assembly line and the floor. Factory was in a pristine condition and had so much interesting history and story. We finished the tour with a glass of wine and tasting of the sardines. Totally recommended!

So fun, loved our last minute find on TripAdvisor. We were beyond pleased with the tour, the factory, the unique story, and the tasting. We love food production tours and this one did not disappoint. It's fascinating that in this age of machine automation, it's all still done by hand. Only tip is to arrive 15 minutes early because parking is super difficult.

Nice visit of the small factory with love of the local community. Well designed route and display demonstrating the living of people who worked here during the last hundred years. The video was touching and the fish can was really nice while you can pack your own one. Really recommended this tour if you want to have real taste of Matosinhos.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Our tour guide Roberto was amazone, so we left informed, uplifted and in love with artist sardines. Highly recommend.

They offer tours. Very interesting place to visit. Learn a lot about sardine canning. The lady spent a lot of time and provided a lot of information to us. Good for visiting with kids too.

Had a great experience at this place. Wasn’t sure what to expect but we received a private tour (as we were the only ones who booked) of the museum and learned of the history of the cannery. Then we were able to see the factory and watch the process of how sardines are canned. Everything was done by hand and the employees seem to really take pride in their work. Afterwards we took a hand at wrapping our own can and tried the sardines. I was hesitant at first but i was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Great experience. Highly recommended.
