I just LOVE it when people do something new and exciting with food. We were just passing through Detroit and looking for a mom and pop place with homemade food that’s healthy-ish. It happened to be a Thursday night so we went to the pop-up location. We had a spice rubbed rainbow trout that was served with grilled peaches and a green salad with golden berries, and a nice vinaigrette that was clearly homemade. It was exactly what we were looking for. The vibes were super cool with a pit fire, tree trunk to sit on, and they were screening some Indie short films.

Pink Flamingo Catering Review I had the pleasure of trying Pink Flamingo Catering for the first time at an event last week, and they truly exceeded expectations! Their thoughtfully curated menu, crafted with a farm-to-table approach, was nothing short of spectacular. Guests were treated to a delightful spread of gourmet bites that satisfied both the palate and the eye. The appetizers were exceptional—brie and fig puff pastries melted in the mouth, while bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with almonds offered the perfect sweet-savory balance. The crostini topped with plums, Gruyère, and thyme honey was an absolute crowd-pleaser, combining unique flavors that worked beautifully together. For heartier options, the black bean, sweet potato, and goat cheese empanadas were rich and flavorful, while the Moroccan lamb meatballs served with spiced tomato sauce and feta were a true highlight. The grilled steak bites, paired with charred scallion and sungold tomato butter, were perfectly cooked and incredibly satisfying. Their grazing table was a masterpiece—featuring a tempting assortment of charcuterie, artisanal cheeses, fresh fruits, olives, nuts, and crackers, all displayed with stunning attention to detail. It became the centerpiece of the evening, sparking conversations and drawing everyone back for seconds (or thirds!). To top it all off, the desserts were divine. The s’mores tarts with torched marshmallow fluff and mini chocolate tarts adorned with fresh berries were the perfect sweet indulgence to end the night. Pink Flamingo Catering didn’t just provide food—they elevated the entire event with their outstanding flavors, presentation, and creativity. Highly recommended for anyone looking to make their gathering truly memorable!

Google
Absolutely incredible: the food, the folks, the atmosphere. These are beautiful people filling bellies with real food that will bring the color back into your face. It’s perfect for any kind of night with bon fires and seating. Not a bad idea to bring a picnic blanket or your own chairs bc it gets busy (rightfully so!)

Great social atmosphere to just relax and meet me people, listen to music, and the food is just amazing. Recommend highly!

Google
I can't express in words how much I love this place. I give credit where credit is due and this place deserves all of it. The food is amazing, vegan and meat options, beer, great mixed drinks, but on top of that, the people and their dedication to their community. I have never felt so welcomed to a space in my life. There was a fire pit, good fire going, wide range of music and I hear the someone plays live often, good conversation, the nicest customer service, if I could give 10 stars I would. I know this sounds exaggerated but it's really just how this place made me feel. I will follow this restaurant all around the Detroit metro area if I have to haha, best night I've had in forever. Because I always add this to my reviews, it's a good chunk of change, and depending on how many people are there, there may be a good wait for food, but completely worth it.

Google
One of my favorite Detroit dining experiences. Food is unique, thoughtful, and amazing. I love that they have a bonfire.

Yelp
A truly unique and wonderful Detroit experience with minimal waste. Everything used to package food here is compostable, recyclable, or used as tinder for the bonfire. Nearly everything served is created from local offerings, and delicious! Never had a poor meal here, Chef Meiko is creative and skilled. Cash or card ok, Pink Flamingo also does some special events.

Yelp
So good! Got the vegan meal and dessert, they were sooooo delicious! Highly recommend. Also the vibe was chill and service exceptional. I also really like how everything is locally sourced and trash is all zero waste (either recycle or throw in a fire).

Yelp
Awesome mission, people, and environment. The food is really good especially the fried rice balls! They're my favorite and I wouldn't be surprised if it's everyone's as well. The other food had really good flavor but the temperature of the food at best was lukewarm. I know they're serving out of a small space, but it would just be nice to have hot food! :) other than that, I love the laid back vibe, the friendly faces, and the delicious flavors. Just a note -- the line can get really long... which means long waits even after ordering! So you may want to munch on something before you come here. Bon appetit! :)

Yelp
Loved my experience! Great vibes - all about positivity. Very environmentally friendly with basically no waste. Yummy food. Portions are not large and prices are above average. Open on Thursdays nights only.

Yelp
I'm very conflicted about this review because I love the concept of a food truck and a weekly bonfire to bring the community together. Unfortunately my one & only visit was not smooth. Arrived about 6:30 anticipating some yummy food based on everything I'd read. Was really happy to see the dozens of people of all ages, colors and genders milling about and chatting. After checking out the food options - which was minimal - a chicken dish or vegetarian dish w/rice balls, corn waffles and salad, and optional dessert, we decided to split the chicken combo, but forgo the dessert. We both ordered a beer. Then the wait began. Little did we realize how long others had been waiting. The more people that showed up the farther behind the cooking got. Every so often someone would step out of the trailer to call a name with a plate of food, but not often enough. I am NOT making this up, our food took 2.5 hours to finally come out. We discussed leaving multiple times, but decided to hang in there 1) we had paid, 2) we got another beer 3) friends happened to be there so that distracted us for a while, but they got their food, ate and left & 4) We met a really nice guy from out of town and when our food finally came we shared it with him since he was still waiting for his. The food was really good, but not 2.5 hour wait in a field good. The owner's bf stepped out every so often to give everyone a pep talk and apologize for how long things were taking but offered no solution to the problem except - be patient and wait. I believe he said the waffles were the slow down - I believe at that point, a free beer, chicken without waffles, rice ball appetizers to appease the crowd - anything would have been helpful - but his pep talk / new age ramblings were not. Of course, there are no bathrooms, which becomes a problem around hour 3 after 2 beers, so they might want to think about how they're going to address that problem in the future. People were going off behind trees to 'you know'. I'm guessing the residents in that area may not appreciate that if that continues. The bonfire was great, the crowd was chill, but the wait was pretty intolerable. I might give it another try - but you can bet I'll ask others first how long they've been waiting and also ask how many orders are ahead of mine. Great concept, maybe we just went on a bad night, I really hope it's usually better than this.

Yelp
I adore the Pink Flamingo. I have been twice and each time, I'm met with unique offerings that surprise and satisfy. The menu rotates, so if you have the opportunity to try their rice balls, do so because they are to die for. You also can't go wrong with one of their craft cocktails. At my last visit, the stuffed eggplant was tasty as well, so hopefully that makes its way around the menu rotation again soon. You'll come for the food at Pink Flamingo, but you'll stay for the community. The staff encourages breaking out of your comfort zone and joining in on conversation around the bonfire. You're likely to meet friends from around the world, as the Pink Flamingo sets up shop next to Hostel Detroit. Overall, a great experience for locals and visitors alike.

Yelp
Tonight was my 2nd consecutive Thursday trip and I was again not disappointed, nor was my 3.5 year old son whose curious nature loves the outdoor venue space. I have definitely explored a great deal of Detroit since moving here 4 years ago and it is by far one of the most unique and positive urban experiences I have encountered thus far. The food is farm to table fresh and while rice balls remain a menu standard, simplistic and rustic creativity change up the menu items weekly. NB: Vegan + Meat = Choose your own feat! The combo is the best option to sample it all. Drinks (wine $4, beer, lemonade, etc.) are well priced and the atmosphere is fantastic for summer! #thursdaynightlights

Yelp
Fantastic food and friendly staff. I've never had a salad so fresh - and I've eaten a lot of salad. All organic. Perfect for vegans and vegetarians - and their omnivore family and friends. Ambiance is beautifully funky too. Delish desert. Can't think of a better way to spend an hour or two on a Thursday evening. High, high recommend.

Yelp
I recently ordered the rice balls here and was served promptly and greeted by a friendly staff. The order came with a few different sauces that a friend tried and I encouraged her to place an order. After placing her order she waited 20 minutes for her food and was criticized when she asked for sauce. She felt humiliated and went back to return the order and another staff member uttered "she's back" as she approached. It was completely ridiculous and the food was mediocre.

Yelp
Atmosphere, food, people...all of it is great! Definitely get the rice balls. And whatever dessert they've got going on. You might run into someone you know or meet a new person - it's a friendly community spot.
