While I've had Pinkbox countless times, this was my first visit to the shared location with BagelMania and also my first time trying one of their vegan doughnuts, so I felt it warranted a review.
This is a great spot for tourists close to the Strip as it's within walking distance of Las Vegas Blvd or an easy Uber. It shares a storefront with BagelMania, however they only have a tiny corner when you first enter, so definitely not the same expanse of offerings as the other, larger locations. The perk is you can double dip by picking up some bagels or other Jewish deli favorites while getting your doughnuts- which was tempting today!
We arrived about 45 minutes before closing on 4th of July, so the selection was understandably picked over. They did have one of my favorites, The Blow Torch, so I had to get that one. Having never tried a vegan doughnut before and the selection being sparse, I selected the Vegan American for my other doughnut. My fiance ordered the It's Ya Birthday and Chocolate Ol' Fashioned (not pictured because he ate it before I could snap a photo).
We went to pay for our doughnuts, which came up to $14.81 for 4- expensive, yes, but I'm used to it for designer doughnuts. The issue I had was I gave the clerk 3 $5 gift cards and he explained that only one could be used at a time. Totally fine, no issue with that. However, he took the 3 gift cards and then proceeded to charge me $1.30 on top of it. The math obviously didn't add up, but I wasn't in the mood to argue over it. I've learned my lesson to never give or use gift cards from Pinkbox moving forward.
For the doughnuts, they were all delicious, as usual. The vegan doughnut was yummy and had good flavor from the cherry icing and vegan whip. You couldn't tell it was vegan, however it was a little dry, so maybe that's the vegan aspect? The blow torch is a perfect embodiment of crème brûlée in doughnut form. From the crust of burnt sugar on top to the rich custard inside- perfection! My fiance enjoyed his two doughnuts as well.
I'll return to Pinkbox, but I hope they train their employees how to handle gift cards better- aka just give me my two extra gift cards back and charge me for the difference so I can use those in the future.
