Pinkerton Wine Bar had a strange subconscious calling for me when I visited last Saturday, as I realized I had been there a few years back, despite usually being very aware of places I have previously visited. The vibe is great. It is woodsy, and I loved the small details, such as the ship on what appeared to be a wine closet. The atmosphere is dark and intimate, but because it is quite popular, it is not the most quiet place. However, I had no trouble talking with my friend or the bartenders. One thing is very consistent about Pinkerton Wine Bar: the bartenders are amazing. They were amazing last time I visited, and they were amazing this time. I wish I had gotten their names, but it was my third drinking place of the night. I do not know if I can even accurately describe what each wine tasted like because I was happily buzzed, but I remember that they all tasted great. We each got two glasses of white wine, and then decided to split a glass, but the bartender actually gave us nearly a full cup's worth each. I really wish I had gotten her name; she was a VIP. The olives were just olives, nothing special about them. The bathroom was not dirty, but it also seemed like it was being used for storage. I had unintentionally returned to Pinkerton Wine Bar, and I will be returning again if I am in the area, specifically because of the amazing bartenders and the overall good vibes.

Hanna & Miguel are the best servers ever! Very knowledgeable about wines & cheeses. Their food suggestions were perfect with our wines. Mac-c-cheese was so good that I remembered to take a picture of it at my last bite. Love the ambience of the place too. Good choice with the pumpkins variety 👌🙂

After being in the neighborhood for smorgasbord, came upon Pinkerton after a google search. Wine was excellent (bought a bottle) and chose brebirousse d’ argental as a recommended pairing. Exquisite! Will return!

Cutest little neighborhood wine bar! The staff is very knowledgeable about all the wines they have available. (Shoutout to Austin and Tiffany.) My friend and I stopped in on a Monday night after dinner. They let us try several different wines in order to make our selection. Very intimate/cozy vibes and reasonable prices. Would be a great place for a date night!

Google
This cozy wine bar in Williamsburg has a charming, intimate vibe, though the wine selection is a bit limited for a dedicated wine spot, which can be a little underwhelming. However, if you're stopping by, I recommend pairing your glass with some small bites--the steamed mussels and cured meats are great choices for a light snack and won't disappoint.

Yelp
Wines 5/5, food 4/5. Our server recommended some fantastic orange and red wines! Super fit for summer and very refreshing. Loved the orange from the Czech Republic. Nebbiolo was also not heavy and pretty fruit forward. The food was good. They really nailed their sauces. Mussels were so well steamed. A few nits: Every dish came with bread. We didn't know, so we ordered the bread separately. Server should have told us. A couple of the mussels didn't open -- would have been nice to take those out. Otherwise, great service and would definitely recommend :)

Yelp
I came here for a pre-dinner snack with two of my friends who enjoyed a beer and wine. The interior was dimly-lit, and there's not a whole lot of space between tables. We also ordered a meat and cheese plate to share. MEAT & CHEESE - 12 each or any 3 for 34 We got a cheese (forgot which one, but it was a harder white cheese) and two meats: Genoa Salami and Prosciutto de Parma. The plate came with a slab of fruit preserve, a sizable piece of baguette, and some olives, along with what we had ordered: two thin pieces of cheese and a neat pile of each meat we ordered. The meats were so good, each sliced super thinly and very high quality. I enjoyed them with small chunks of baguette and bits of the cheese. The preserve was sweet and lightly tart, which was enjoyable. While it was tasty, I thought it was pretty pricy for what it was. Not sure if it was worth the amount it costed, but Pinkerton is a casual neighborhood wine bar that's not too loud or crazy. I still think it's worth checking out.

Yelp
A cozy neighborhood wine bar with kind staff -- it's a dimly-lit vibe where you can sit and yap with pals. The bartenders are great at making recommendations, they let us sample a few wines until we found a red we were happy with.

Yelp
Cute and quaint neighborhood wine spot! Ideal for a last minute glass of wine with a friend or a date night. Lovely ambiance with candle lit tables and outdoor seating when weather permits. I loved the caprese sandwich and vino verde. Service was very attentive

Yelp
I love a good wine bar, and have been eyeing this spot (both on Yelp and irl) for quite a bit of time now. There are so many bars in Williamsburg that are usually filled to the brim with people, but even just from the numerous times I've passed by, I've appreciated the quiet nature of this street. Popped in on a Saturday evening around 9:30 for a glass or two of wine and it was perfect for those who are catching up with friends or for a first date because you can actually have a conversation without yelling over each other (or dealing with heavily intoxicated people). We sat at one of the outside tables. We opted for a glass of the lambrusco and an orange wine which I think was from Portugal? Although I'm not quiet sure. Both were delicious, I preferred the lambrusco since the orange was a bit mild for my liking. Service was great as well. Didn't grab any food, but think this would be a great spot to grab drinks and a small bite after work so I plan on doing that soon!

Yelp
This turned out to be a very relaxing spot to spend a couple hours before venturing off to dinner. They had a nice natural wine list, as well as a decent assortment of appetizers. I got steamed mussels in garlic and shallots. It could've used a lot more garlic, but otherwise was generous and served with some tasty fresh bread and butter. The interior atmosphere is relatively small and cozy with outdoor seating as well. Service is casual and friendly and the prices were reasonable.

Yelp
Super adorable wine bar on a quieter side street in Williamsburg. There's a lot of outdoor seating for an outdoor moment. There's only one bartender in the whole place it seems, so it's definitely quicker to just go up to the bar and order there. It wasn't crowded on a holiday night, but almost every table was filled. It's a really nice dark ambiance, with a candle on each table. We got ciders for $8 and they were delicious - they literally tasted like apple juice. They poured it out into a glass from the original bottle as well so it was a nice vibe. There are dogs inside and outside the store.

Yelp
Loved this place! Great service and super delicious oysters. Awesome spot for a delicious glass of wine with knowledgeable sourcing

Yelp
Cute local wine bar with tasty share plates. The ricotta dip was very good and the focaccia was so fluffy. Started to get busy around 6pm on a Friday.

Yelp
Such a great vibe tonight. Alexey the server was so kind especially since I came in solo. Chilled red tasted delicious & music/lighting was like being at a spa.

Yelp
really poor experience the past week - food was awful and wines are all 15 dollar bottles you can find anywhere. Nothing special.

Yelp

Yelp
Staff is super friendly and welcoming! The ambiance is well curated and has a midday vibe. Would be a perfect spot for a date night!

Yelp
Stopped by and had a glass of port. They had a nice selection of wines and dessert wine. Lots of good appetizers too. Really a great spot for drinks and snacks with friends. Not too much foot traffic nearby so the bar is less rowdy than similar bars of this size. We had a nice time here.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute place to grab wine and pairings like hummus and cheese. Outdoor seating here but no table service even from inside. Normal NY drink prices outside of happy hour.

Yelp
This place has outdoor seating ! Perfect for summer ! And fantastic oysters. Along with good paninis !

Yelp
Very cute, not a ton of food options. Definitely a big date spot. I think it's on the pricey side but what else would you expect. I'm happy with our experience but will not rush to return.
google avatar

Alishaan T.

Yelp
Food was great but found very limited and basic options. Wine menus is good, I would have liked a more choice in more dry minerals wines. I always like the outside seating at this place, there's on particular spot just under the AC unit which I wouldn't sit at since you can hear the AC sound throughout while dining. Overall a nice spot!

Yelp
We have enjoyed this sweet neighborhood gem since we first moved to NYC just down the street in 2010. We now live in Astoria but it is still one of our to-go-to stops when we are in the neighborhood. Nice outside set up and decent AC inside on hotter days. Great wine selection and while the food menu is on the smaller side, what they offer is great (fantastic cheese selections). The last 2 times we have been there Jo (I believe is her name?--from our receipt yesterday...short light hair, lots of tattoos) and both times super kind and attentive service. It's off the beaten path on a picturesque block of Havemeyer and well worth the short trek a few blocks off busy Bedford.

Yelp
Intensely chill vibe. You have to order drinks and food at the bar but they have an absolutely lovely sidewalk set up.

Yelp
Very hip the wine list is divine. The bites yummy yummy for my tummy. Definitely a nice place for a cool night or maybe date night. So Williamsburg

Yelp
This is a good place if you like oysters and wine. I had the $1 Malpeques, which were fresh and shucked well. The mignonette was decent, but I prefer more horseradish with my cocktail sauce. While I would love to give this place 5 stars just because of the well priced crustacean, I docked a star because the place was more shabby than shabby chic. Still, I would come back and recommend it.

Yelp
My husband and I met here for our first date over six years ago. Loved the cozy interior and the creepy paintings on the walls. Great spot to meet an OkCupid date, even better spot to fall in love.

Yelp
a great little wine bar. a good date night for lite bites. ricotta is amazing and nice to sit outside when the weather permits

Yelp
Wine and oysters! What a perfect combo! Came here on a Saturday night and it was relatively crowded. It's a cute and cozy little wine bar with outdoor patio seating available. They have good wines at $20 a bottle which the beau and I shared, plus they have $1 oysters (east and west coast available). So we had a half dozen oysters plus some raw clams which the beau insisted I try. Everything was top notch and we truly enjoyed our lovely romantic date night here. The only thing that annoyed me was the bartender who spilled our wine, not once but TWICE. And didn't even offer to replace it even though we paid for the whole bottle. Other than that, if I lived in NY, you'd probably find me here often!

Yelp
Pinkerton is a really sweet little place. It's a mellow spot to unwind after work. Vibe: I love the vibe here, its super low key. It's basically one small room with a cute tiled floor, a small bar, and dim lighting. Really nice for some one-on-one time with a friend or partner. They have a chessboard you can use, which is fun, but I also like to bring cards with me. It's been pretty empty every time I've been there, which I love, but I've never gone on a weekend night so I'm not sure if it ever gets really busy. Food: The food is minimal. Think of it more like snacks than an actual meal. Drinks: The drinks are pretty self-explanatory, mostly wine. They have a nice mulled wine for around $8 which is great for the colder weather.

Yelp
All I have to say is...$1.00 oysters!!! We came here on a Sunday evening and enjoyed about 2 dozen oysters and ceviche with a bottle of riesling- all of this for under $100! It was a romantic little spot but also had a very casual atmosphere- there are menus at the table but you need to go up to the bar to order both food and drinks. The server only comes to the table to deliver your order. We actually really enjoyed this process as there were no interruptions during our meal and we felt that we had alot of privacy. I would have rated Pinkerton 5 stars but they lost a star because of the interior decor. Although the booth seating looked cozy at first, we quickly realized that the leather seats were ripped to the point where the springs were visible and not comfortable to sit on, at all. Once we moved our seats, we enjoyed the rest of our evening but I just can't understand why they wouldn't put in the effort to repair the ripped seats.

Yelp
Portraits of creepy children+wine+cheese= the perfect way to wind down a Saturday night. Whenever I go to the Mermaid Parade, I should prepare myself a bit better for a day of no eating and lots of drinking. I guess it's a tradition by now. On Saturday night we got back to Williamsburg at about 1:45 am and so hungry that I was beyond decision making. Somehow our feet led us down the block to Pinkerton Wine Bar and although their posted hours showed that closing time was in 15 minutes, the bartenders and owner took good care of us (and didn't make us feel like we were keeping them open). They have a modest menu of cheese and olive plates, which was just what the doctor ordered. We picked two cheeses, based on the menu descriptions, and were really impressed. This isn't a pedestrian cheese plate, people. Like nothing I've ever tasted before, my favorite off the plate was from Switzerland with a citrus-y flavor and firm texture. The semi-soft cheese made with raw milk with a more earthy flavor was irresistible as well. Quality wine after a day of sips of the inferior stuff that comes in small airplane bottles? Yes, please. At first we sat outside in the sidewalk cafe portio, but couldn't resist retreating to the room of creepy children portraits to hang with the staff, a few stragglers and Tom, the owner, until quitting time (which was over two hours later). Thanks for the perfect night cap, Pinkerton!

Yelp
After dinner at DuMont, my fiance and I decided to make the most of our night in Williamsburg and keep drinking. We found Pinkerton Wine Bar on Yelp, and I have to admit that part of the reason we came was because we're a white guy Asian girl couple and we thought this place was calling to us. It was a neat little place, dark and cozy on a cold night. It was fairly empty on a Saturday after 10, which makes me wonder about things like how they pay the rent, but also whether I'm too old to go out in New York during happening hours. We sat at a table and got drinks at the bar. There were menus on hand listing wine and beer. The selection was small but as far as I could tell, well curated. The guy behind the bar seemed to know his stuff, anyway. We drank Argentinian malbec and a French syrah blend, and both were very good, priced at $9 a glass, with decent pours. I'm not a wine expert so that's about as useful as I can be on this front. Go drink them! They're tasty. Ask the guy. We didn't stay for too long, but we could have and would have if we were looking for a late night. Pinkerton was relaxing and pleasant, and the wines were lovely. If it were in my neighborhood, I'd try to go often.

Yelp
Right off the Exit onto Williamsburg lays this fine Wine bar, Pinkerton. Inside has a great atmosphere that compliments a nice traditional Wine and taste bar. They give you sample to choose from and have a great selection. They are widely known for their Oysters, sells out quickly too; And yes they are addictive especially when paired with a bottle of Wine!

Yelp
Favorite wine bar in Williamsburg. They strike the best balance of all important things in a bar. -Good ambiance. Cozy, kitschy, great paintings. Not sterile. -Good prices. Most wines are between $7-11 a glass. -Good rotating selection of all different kinds of wine, new and old world. -Meat and cheese plates that are not crazy expensive. -Nice outdoor seating. -Good music. -Never insanely loud or busy. -Not pretentious -Really good happy hour! $5 house red and white wines. $20 bottles. $4 pilsner and $14 pitcher. 5-8pm every day, even weekends. They also have been featuring cool chef pop-up dinners on certain nights with really good food if you're looking for something more substantial than meat and cheese. It's been a staple in my bar repertoire for 3+ years now and I hope they stand the test of time in this tough neighborhood. Pinkerton is a gem!

Yelp
I am surprised to see mostly positive reviews here. My first visit must have been on a seriously "off" night. We entered and sat at a table. The waitress came only to tell us that we had to come to the bar to place food orders. Weird - it looks like a restaurant inside, but if it's cafeteria style, OK... Almost nobody in the place at 11pm on a Tuesday. Of those who were there, the only person we saw eating had oysters; so why did it take 45 minutes for our simple food orders to reach our table? Finally the plate was audibly dropped before me. The tartare was served as a palm-sized lump that looked like it was tapped out of a tin of cat food onto a large plate unceremoniously covered in Ruffles Ridges potato chips. A few cornichons were hidden underneath and made the chips wet. It looked really unappetizing and tasted as bad as it looked - but I was ravenous and ate what was offered; perhaps a risky move with raw meat. My French friend had a sip of the house wine and, perfectly summarizing the experience, said, "This is the house wine? Then it must be a bad house." At no point did the waitress visit the table. No water. No napkins. No service. Americans in the service industry feel they deserve a tip regardless of their performance. I have worked in the service industry, do not agree with that philosophy, and tipped accordingly. After leaving, the waitress, or one of the drunken friends with whom she was consorting outside throughout the evening, shouted angrily and unintelligibly after us. See ya, Pinkerton's. It's been real. There are WAAAY too many options for a pleasant night out in this neighborhood.

Yelp
Cute place for a first date or a quick catch up with friends. They have a decent selection of meat & cheese boards, also a variety of wines. They have light apps available as well. The oyster options are good too.
google avatar

Rachael F.

Yelp
This is a great wine bar for snagging a quick drink before dinner or taking a date. They have a happy hour wherein it's the same price to get a half dozen oysters ($6) as two oysters ($6), so I'd take advantage of that. There's a nice selection of reasonably-priced wines and the waiters/bartenders know their stuff well enough to make me think they know their stuff well enough to recommend things. It's dimly lit in a romantic sort of way. The entrance is caddy-corner to the street which really bothers me and I believe is architecturally incorrect (source: Kramer on Seinfeld), but I'll give them a pass for the great deals and nice ambiance inside.
google avatar

Ange C.

Yelp
Good wine selection! The lighting was dim, but I would guess that it was probably the Halloween ambience. My friends had a few red wines (don't remember which!), but I remember them remarking that it was great. We had some ginger cola as well, definitely recommend it. The servers and host were really nice and helpful.
google avatar

Gman G.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday evening with my gf for $1 oysters. The service was horrible. The couple that was next to us and I felt that the staff only cater to non-Hispanics. Shame. I would understand if it was busy but the place was dead. Would not come here again.
google avatar

Melissa V.

Yelp
Walked in, one guy working the entire place who walked by us 3 times and didn't acknowledge our existence. We waited 5-10 mins for him to at least welcome us but that didn't seem like it was going to happen so we just walked out. Pretty disappointing because we were looking forward to dollar oysters but I can only imagine how slow the service will be to get food considering we received no service to get a table.
google avatar

Caitlin G.

Yelp
Lol the reviews of this place crack me up! You clearly either love or hate it... we happen to love it. I read someone mention below it's a little more shabby than shabby chic.... I wouldn't go that far, but it's definitely a low key neighborhood spot. Is the service sometimes mediocre? Sure. Just sit down, enjoy who you're with, and don't stress it. This is the kind of place where you feel like you want to be a regular. It has its own charm you can't eexactly put your finger on. We love coming on Friday's after work for oysters and sitting at the bar. If you live in the neighborhood, definitely check it out.
google avatar

Jennie P.

Yelp
Cute spot in Williamsburg for wine. I also enjoy their grilled cheese and tomato soup! Perfect spot in the summer because there are seats outside. Indoors is always warm and welcoming.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
We came here for oysters on a Sunday afternoon, and were seated outside to enjoy the beautiful sunny weather. Pinkerton is quiet and cozy, which is a nice contrast to the crowded bars right off of Bedford Ave. My friend and I have a wonderful time catching up over fresh oysters and couple glasses of wine. The charcuterie plate was delicious and we polished that off as well.
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
I love this place!!! Wine and beer selection is awesome. I recommend the cheese plate they pair it perfectly for you. Plus if you like to meet beautiful people, this is the place for you!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
This place is my go-to for wine on Friday afternoons. They do not have kitchen, so their food menu is not extensive (oysters, hummus/pita, prosciutto), I'd suggest planning to eat either before or after. Come for a bottle of wine (or 2, the prices are very affordable),they have beer as well. How To Get There: very accessible and safe through public transportation. Ambiance: mainly locals that enjoy talking to other groups in their outdoor/front area. I cant speak for the inside, but I hear its pretty cool too. Suggestions: a bottle of rose on a summer/spring afternoon and order the grilled cheese- who does love a grilled cheese!
google avatar

Tony L.

Yelp
This casual, candle lit wine bar is a perfect place to end your night or relax after work - enjoying a well curated list and a chill atmosphere. The bar is well tended; friendly and courteous, offering samples of wine before I was willing to make a commitment. I enjoyed being in a quiet neighborhood bar over the hustle and bustle of anything just a block away where loud bars with loud music and loud patrons provide everything that I hate about the city. What a comfort this place is - and perfectly situated across the street from Pates et Traditions where you can enjoy a full meal or just dessert before or after a visit to Pinkerton. Next time I come, I'm getting the $1 oysters! (minimum of 6 - with drink purchase)

Yelp
Great oyster special and selection. Great wines and great ambiance. If you're near the area definitely stop by and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I love this bar - cute and quirky and has good wine. The service is terrible though. I went in yesterday (Saturday afternoon) and the bartender could care less about what she was doing - only wanted to hang out with her friend at the bar. I was extremely disappointed

Shavonna B.

Yelp
Really great place. Lovely service with I think Rebecca (bartender/server) on Monday July 5th which is typically a slow day in NYC. Great suggestions and knowledgeable.
