A few nights ago I had my first taste of Pink's Pizza. Yes, I know, but I'm just not a pizza person so the two or three times a year I have pizza, I've just gone to Star. I can now add a new pizza place to my annual list, simply for the sheer list of pizza with interesting topping combinations.
This location is shiny and new. It opened just under three weeks ago on the edge of Midtown. Perfect for central inner-loopers. If you pick up your pizza, you don't have to drive into the nastiness that is Midtown. Also, their delivery area covers many neighborhoods. There are no tables or counters, so you can only order food for pick up or delivery.
I ordered a half Rocko and half The Big Sleep. I love that you can order a half and half pizza with their specialty pizzas; it's like getting the sampler platter.
The Rocko was devoid of its Italian Sausage and Canadian Bacon, but was great with the portabellas, peppers, and tomatoes. Not certain where the sausage and Canadian bacon were, but they never made it to my pizza. The Big Sleep was amazing. Chicken, artichokes, spinach, feta, and supposedly garlic.
My one gripe, other than the missing ingredients, was the sauce. Their menu lists it as "Our Delicious Pizza Sauce." Really? It's a little bland. Not bad, just not much flavor and definitely not spicy. This may be to not overpower the ingredients, but next time I go, I'll make certain to get the pepper flakes.
