"Just down the block from the Cleveland Circle T stop, Pino’s Pizza is a hidden gem that Boston College students have frequented throughout its 61 years on Beacon Street. The sauce has a tangy bite, and the dough brings an ideal balance of chew and crunch. Pino’s has won awards, but wants none of the attention — they have the “10 commandments of Pino’s” printed on every menu emphasizing the commitment to quality over recognition and praise. Keep it simple and start with the cheese pizza for a true Pino’s experience." - Nathan Tavares, Tommy Ranucci, Eater Staff

Been coming here for 20+ years now, since I was a little kid. I grew up eating this pizza and had no clue how good I had it till I moved to the Midwest for college. Obviously I’m biased, but this place easily has some of the best pizza in Boston and can compete with the very best in New York. Sauce is standout, crust thin and perfectly crispy, cheese is always high quality. I’ve still yet to have a better Margherita pizza. With my parents moving out from my childhood home, it’ll make it harder to come back here as often. Thank you to Pino’s for making me fall in love with pizza - Pino’s will always be my favorite, no matter where I am in the world. Will be sure to visit whenever I’m back in town, keep up the great work!!

CHANGE THE CHEESE BACK I’m legit so bummed that my favorite pizza spot is now bad. I’ve eaten dozens if not 100+ pizzas from this place over the years. Any time friends or family come over I order from here. I’ve lived here for over 5 years and have ordered pizza from here for every birthday. This was my favorite pizza in this world. When my family visited this summer I order a pizza and it was bad. It tasted off with weird plastic cheese with no salt or flavor. Hoping it was a one off I ordered another a few weeks later and it was bad as well. I just went in for some slices and it was bad. The dough and sauce tastes the same but the cheese is different. I’m certain of it from years of knowing this pizza. It used to be a little greasy and would drip when you fold it and it no longer does. It’s like dry and chewy with no flavor. The cheese is so unsalted that I have to add my own for it to taste good. It’s really bad. I know times are tough and food costs are crazy but please go back to the old recipe and increase your prices if you have to.

I love the Italian submarine with everything on it extra pickles and mayo! Good pizza as well! Can't wait to visit Massachusetts I'm going to bring my best friend god has blessed me with in my hardest of times to try this delicious restaurant. Bless the cooks and hard workers!!!

Google
Very nice pizza place 🍕 😋 Reasonably priced and very good toppings. The meat lovers was really tasty. Pizza crust was firm and crunchy, very taste sauce, texture and mouth feel very good.

At one point Pinos was one of the best pizza places in the Commonwealth. Now, it is overpriced and poor tasting. Prices went up, and they changed their cheese to a cheaper brand. And the overall taste went wayyyyy down. Everything now tastes frozen. It is definitely relying on its reputation as of late for business, because it just does not taste good

Google
Got a Sicilian pepperoni pizza for pickup and it was great. It was ready about a minute after I arrived to pick it up, and the staff was friendly. The only thing I’d say, is that I definitely expected the Sicilian style pizza to be very crunchy, especially the crust, but it wasn’t. The dough was soft - but don’t get me wrong. It was still very good! Just wish it was more crunchy.

I grew up in this area and Prestos (now closed) was the go to. That was years ago and I had yet to try pinos due to childhood loyalty. Came to Pinos for the first time today and was surprised but how delicious their pizza is! Light, crunchy, and little flop. Sicilian was also pretty legit. Grease was the only downside. Will be back to try a whole pie soon

Google
If Conan O'Brien declared this his favorite pizza, I had to try it. As of this posting, this is my frontrunner for the best pizza in the city, too. The Sicilian was so good, lighter than the "gut bomb" Sicilians I'm used to, with a slightly more "fried dough-like" crust. Really good! Love that you can order slices, too. There is no public restroom, however. Use the Eagle Deli next door.

Yelp
There is no substitute for Pino's Pizza, end of story. I've been eating it since I was a kid, and the only difference between then and now is that NOW I have to pay an Uber driver to pick it up and bring it to Medford ...and it's still worth it.

Yelp
Spent a good part of the summer in New York City and had my fair share of New York Style Pizza while there. If you like a thin slice of pizza with a chewy, yet crunch texture, then Pino's traditional pizza (not the Sicilian.. "Square" pizza) comes closest to New York Style Pizza. My Review is based on 2 visits that I had here. My first visit was late at night while driving home and craving a slice. The store hours state that it is open until 1am, I came through the doors at 11:50pm, and everything was closed and cleaned up. The manager and the cook was standing at the register getting ready to call it a day. I apologized for coming in started to turn around and head back out. The manager was very kind and said, "No problem what do you want?" I told him I just wanted a slice of cheese and he said that it wouldn't be a problem because he had a full pizza and asked if I wanted to buy the whole thing instead. Just as he asked, the door opened and the customer came in apologizing for being late (Owner of the whole cheese pizza I was about to buy). The manager's face looked like, "Oh crap what do I do?" I spoke up first and said that it was be okay, and I would come back another time. Understanding what had happened, the late customer said they would be happy to give up a slice (so long as they were not charged for the slice I was taking). The manager took out a slice, threw it in the oven and a few minutes later I was handed a hot slice of cheese pizza. I was happy with the gesture from all those involved, but the slice I got was a small slice. (can't be helped, the pizzas are cut by hand). To get a better review, I went back yesterday for lunch and got the number 1 combo (2 slices of cheese and a soda) for $10. The slices were definitely larger. The texture is spot on with New York Style Pizza.

Yelp
We lived in Brighton, near here, many years ago, and finally had the chance to check this place out. Casual spot, reasonably priced. We liked the sauce, cheese and toppings; not as much the crust - a bit like the frozen pizza type, but overall, pretty good and not too heavy.

Pam R.

Yelp
We love trying new to us pizza places. Pino's was so good!! We had the garden salad. Cold crispy lettuce with lot's of fresh veggies. The Italian dressing tasted homemade. Loved it. The cheese pizza was thin and delicious.

Big N.

Yelp
Still great food and service , and the same great old school ambiance inside have been visiting for years ! Greek salad awesome!

Bianca L.

Yelp
Nice little family pizzeria! Everyone was welcoming, helpful and patient. A polite kid working the cashier, you just don't see that a lot these days. It was great to see. The Sicilian slice is top tier! Thank you so much!

Jill G.

Yelp
It may be nostalgia but this is my favorite pizza. A number one and a number three is the way to go. A mix of classic with Sicilian slices.

George L.

Yelp
We ordered 2 Sicilian pizzas to go. Parking was a little challenging but we made it work. The pizzas came piping hot and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely worth a visit!

Adam R.

Yelp
Came from many states away to try this legendary pizza, but disappointingly received an over cooked pie. Harder than a rock. Couldn't even eat the crust. Nothing magical about the sauce. No flop. Really sucks cause I wanted to love this.

Paige L.

Yelp
I had dinner here with four other people tonight. It's been my uncle-in-law's favorite pizza joint for over 30 years. He took me, my husband, and some cousins there so we could try the steak & cheese sandwich. My UIL always orders it a special way and claims it's the absolute best, so I was excited to finally try this after literally years of hype. Well, let me just say that the food totally lived up to the hype! My UIL orders the sandwich as follows: steak and cheese sandwich (12" sub w pepper and onion. here is what my UIL adds: - lightly toasted bread - light mayo - light onion - light pickle - tomato - lettuce I was balking at the idea of lettuce, tomato, MAYO?? on a steak and cheese. But I trusted him and was not led astray. It was delicious. The bread they use is fluffy and light, so when it's toasted the outside gets perfectly crispy. The mayo and lettuce added that fresh creamy crunch. The steak they use is HIGH quality - not fatty or gristly. It's sliced thinly with slices of cheese in there. The best part is they serve the steak and cheese with a hot pepper relish. My UIL got ours on the side, which I liked so I could add even more. It's DELICIOUS! I will be thinking about that sandwich for a while and can't wait l have another one. Will probably have to try their pizza soon, too!

Johnny G.

Yelp
Took out a Sicilian pie, wow! Fluffy and pillowy dough, simple but zesty tomato sauce and cheese. Perfection in a rectangle! Try it don't skip it.

Dick K.

Yelp
Ambiance fine, hey it's a pizza place. Service is good; go to the counter and order pizza or subs. Subs are good, as is the pizza. And they'll make it the way you want, although I like it very crispy, and twice it came out of the oven, and I asked for more heat. The subs are one price:$12. Easy parking in front. The 7-11 if your hungry, the slices are low price, and not bad.

Donna C.

Yelp
It too expensive !! And very thin ..You ask for extra cheese they give you a little and it's not even melted .. What the hell!!Not very nice either .They just say next not saying hi or anything . I wouldn't waste my money .look else where trust me your not missing anything . Except your money

Shaq E.

Yelp
10/10 for pizza and subs. Staff is super sweet and attentive. You can tell it's a family working behind the counter. They're literally my go-to, especially for Sicilian pizza (it is HUGE and definitely worth the price). Because of all the colleges near by, it can get pretty busy and loud but aside from that, I've been going for years--never had an issue.

Will V.

Yelp
On a road trip and decided to visit this old haunt from my college days. Its local competition (Presto's Pizza) shut its doors years ago, so Pino's now appropriately is the King of Cleveland Circle. I went basic, with just two slices since I was only doing takeout before getting back on the road. The thin crust pepperoni slice was as good as I remembered. The Sicilian slice, cheese only, was even better. It was light as a feather, with an awesome taste and sauce to cheese ratio. It wasn't one of those heavy as a brick pizza bombs that Sicilian slices often are. This is truly one of the best slices on the planet and since I was sober and it was not 1am - the opposite of my normal visits while in college - I could appreciate Pino's amazing consistency and quality over decades of time. Service is quick, to the point, and not all that friendly, and the dining room ain't much, but who cares? I used to order the baked ziti dinner and it's probably still good, although today's price may limit how often college students lacking parental wealth (like me) could eat it. Whatever the situation, this is still some great f'ing pizza. As the pizza box clearly boasts: "End the quest, at Pino's you have the best!"

Alec I.

Yelp
Moving to Boston recently I was excited to find a good pizza spot. Pino's is always great for a slice or a pie to take home. Service is very nice and efficient. It feels like a tradition in the area!

A R.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place based on the reviews here and on the promises of the website but the pizza anyway is just... meh. Maybe the other stuff is better.

Benedict H.

Yelp
I let out a Paully walnuts "ohhhhh" when I got on here and didn't see a five star rating. Second day in a row coming here. Sicilian Pizza bout made me nut my jeans! Great local Italians behind the counter, get on down here they'll get u right!

Cara B.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza and great subs. Quick, fresh, no-frills place. In my opinion some of the best NY style pizza in the Boston area. This place has been reliable awesome for the 15 years I've been coming!

Barry L.

Yelp
Worst pizza around Stay away horrible It use to be great New owners have no clue how to make a pizza

Tim B.

Yelp
Buffalo chicken calzone LOL never seen a worse order. Not only was it wrong but it was barely made. It was just dough. Literally never seen a calzone this bad. $16 haha

Noah L.

Yelp
On national pizza day, you gotta have pizza I tried Pino's out as I heard some solid things and ordered the buffalo chicken and pino's special pizza. The pino's special was topped with veggies but didn't really leave any major impact. It is solid but it's just that The buffalo chicken had solid flavor and it came with blue cheese dip which was ok. The crust for the pizzais probably the best as it had a nice mixture of bite back texture and chewiness Pino's is solid, but given the price and the lack of anything novel or exceptional, it only warrants a 4 star from me

Ralph K.

Yelp
We ordered a pizza at 8:34pm and was quoted 20 minutes to cook. We showed up 20 minutes later and the pizza was ice cold. When I called to see if we could get a credit the guy was unbelievably rude. He told me he "didn't know how long we came after we order it" when I explained we were there on time and live around the corner, and we are heating the pizza up in the microwave after just picking it up and that I couldn't come back but wanted a credit for a future use he said "I don't know what to tell you". This is unacceptable. If you want a premade pizza there's a 7/11 down the street, At least it's hot

Jay M.

Yelp
10 bucks and lousy sub . Each time inconsistent. Steak overcooked and not enough in sandwich for 10 bucks. I guess pizza way to go there.

Mike D.

Yelp
Really good pizza, my favorite is the Margherita. You can really tell the ingredients are fresh. Decent size and the crust is soft. The prices are ok but i can't fault them for charging what their ingredients are worth. Definitely recommend!

Joe B.

Yelp
Best pizza in Brookline/Boston! Recommend from a friend, these 2 slices ran about $8 and were perfectly delicious and crispy and held up every way you want a pizza to! I wish I could have this so much more often. All I can say is TRY IT and get extra, you won't be disappointed. Upgrade that small to an extra large pie and prove me wrong!

Laura D.

Yelp
Editing to add more detail. 3.5/5 Pros: -Slices available -Super crispy Cons -Credit card minimum (not sure what it is, but the employee said "I hope you have cash" when I bought one slice) -Oily -- Cheese Slice ($2.88 with tax) Large slice. Super thin and crispy, which is the best part about it. It's fairly oily. It doesn't taste that indulgent, but on the flip side I also appreciate that it's kind of light. If you're craving pizza that's not that heavy, I'd recommend Pino's. If you want to go all in, Regina's or elsewhere!

Lyric L.

Yelp
I got delivery through a separate food delivery service. We got two large pies: one cheese and one pepperoni. This is the BEST pizza I've had in the area by far! Super crispy crust and delicious flavor. Also, the prices are reasonable. This is definitely my new go-to!!!!

Hilliard W.

Yelp
Just okay. The Sicilian pizza is good, but $3 extra per topping is just downright greedy. Antipasto is not good, I get that it's just a hodgepodge of Italian-y ingredients, but it's mostly carrot, lettuce, and big cherry tomatoes with barely any olives or pepperoncini peppers. Also, they slap a big ole ice cream scoop of tuna salad smack in the middle of the antipasto. Who does that?

T M.

Yelp
Portnoy gave this an 8.8, tied with the great Modern Apizza of New Haven. That's entirely undeserved. This is not in Modern's league. It's not even as good as Stella's in Watertown, to which he gave a measley 7.7. This is a solid football pizza. It's tasty, but not elevated in any way, and certainly not worth the 25-minute trip I made to try it. If you want to try Pino's, just go to your local pizza joint-- the one that everybody orders from for their superbowl parties. It tastes the same.

Evan S.

Yelp
Full disclosure: this five star review is based on one slice of cheese pizza. But this is the best slice of NY style pizza I have had in all of greater Boston. Pinos has managed to fully replicate the extra large NY slice. From its foldable thin crust with a thicker nicely toasted edge to the perfect cheese and tomato ratio. And just the right amount of grease/oil! I realize taste in pizza is subjective, and Boston offers many varieties from Deep Dish (Unos), craft pizza (Otto's and Stoked), uniquely Boston (Santarpios) and Greek (everywhere), but Pinos offers the closest thing to a NY slice I have found that does not require having to head out of state.

Brian B.

Yelp
Gets the job done. Area staple with friendly staff. Pasta dinners aren't great. They also charge $6 to add meatballs to baked ziti (which is just pasta with mozzarella - not like a real baked ziti) but the baseline price for ziti and meatballs is the same as the baked ziti. So really you're paying $6 for melted cheese... If you get a Calzone it's ridiculously thin and doesn't really seem like a calzone. The chicken in the chicken parm sub or dinner has a sort of rubbery consistency. Many of their sides are made next door at Eagle's so timing isn't always great for orders. But the pizza is good in a pinch especially if you're just stopping in with a friend to split a slice/pie.

Fiona L.

Yelp
I love these people. They are fast and probably the best pizza around.I will admit that sometimes the pizza will arrive on the cold side and maybe not as fresh as it should be. But when you get a super fresh one, it is amazing.

Krissy W.

Yelp
Best pizza ever! Every time we're in the area we always make sure to grab a pizza. It hits all the marks of what a good pizza should be.

Alex S.

Yelp
rude workers the pizza is bad the cheese just falls off like it didn't melt new owners dont know what there doing

Evan C.

Yelp
I mean listen. Pinos has been the best pizza in the area for decades. They beat out Prestos ( rip ) and even Conan and his brother agree Pinos is the best in the area. Side note to owners. Conan's on his latest episode shouted you guys out.

Fi M.

Yelp
Since the pizza place has changed over, it's WORST than ever. I ordered a sub and small cheese pizza. The owner was rude barking at me that it'll be 15-20 minutes and to leave the place than waiting inside. I parked right outside and came in 15 minutes later, The owner bark back at me and said it wasn't ready and to leave and come back in 7 minutes. I didn't argue in both times and walked out and back to my car. I waited 10 minutes and gone in. The pizza was ready but I believe the sub was done probably 10 minutes ago as the bottom was warm and not hot. A.K.A. they made the sub and left it on top of oven. They may have the local customer and Boston College students but not with that attitude and service. Will not go back and will hope you who read this do the same. So rude and I hope they lose the business!! Pizza was not good and sub wasn't the same. So what did I get out of this but the owner barking at me.

Jeff G.

Yelp
Food was good and service was excellent at a fair price. If your from a big city with many options you'll enjoy but won't be impressed.

Ricardo S.

Yelp
Nothing special, just regular pizza. Good when it's hot otherwise hard and bland. Good for students.

M W.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to try Pino's. Ordered a small cheese pie online. It was ready when promised. The pizza was solid, not bad at all. Being from NY, I'm always looking for a decent slice of pizza. Pino's is decent!

Cailin B.

Yelp
this pizza is a disgrace to pizza. dave portnoy doesn't know good pizza if it hit him in the face. yuck. nasty. gross. period.

Emmanuel O.

Yelp
I ordered pizza and two sides using the Grubhub app and got only the sides delivered but no pizza. Way to ruin new year's day.

Thomas M.

Yelp
Decent slice of pizza. Sauce left something to be desired but it did hit the spot of wanting a slice. I'd have no hesitation going back but wouldn't really venture too far out of my way for it.

Netalin T.

Yelp
Great pizza. Fast service. Love to order here. Good quality ingredients. Get it on time every time.

Molly B.

Yelp
So, my husband and I grew up in the area and have both been eating Pino's for 15+ years now. Anyone else spend their Friday nights in high school caching a movie and then heading across the street to sit in a red booth until your mom called and said you had to come home? Anyway, it's always been great and other than the closed-down Imperial in Brighton Center, has always been at the top of our list. This is just for the pizza, by the way, the rest of the menu is similar to any other pizza shop. The pizza though, comes with large slices and a taste that is definitely more Italian (my fave), vs the typical "pizza house" Greek style you see most places. The lower rating is for customer service and lack of safe COVID practices. They seem to be the ONLY restaurant not allowing payment and tipping over the phone, instead expecting their customers to pay in person and interact closely with their delivery driver. I find this practice to be very odd and potentially very unsafe. I even mentioned I was a chemo patient, and that didn't seem to matter. I have had to push back and have been able to get them to take my credit card over the phone (always with a nice tip for the trouble), but tonight they not only refused when my husband called, they SWORE at him. My husband is not as pushy as I am, so he backed off the request. So...is it a pandemic or not? This place seems to be confused about that. Makes me worry about safety practices in their kitchen, if I'm being honest. At this point, I may need to wait until the world opens back up to order from them again.

George R.

Yelp
This is an amazing community based Pizza shop. Once again they helped the Runkle School with pizza's for the Halloween fair. The pizza was so good we ran out and needed more and they made them for us in short order. So thankful for their efforts. I also order from here all off the time. I just received a pizza and posted a pic below. They don't skimp on anything. Great quality and flavor.

Victoria C.

Yelp
Right at Cleveland Circle with big light sign, you'll find Pino's with no problem! Come in to order a slice or a box a pizza. This place has been around for years and the people here know what they're doing. There's plenty of old style booth seating if you just wanna grab a slice a hang out for a bit. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and ordered a slice of pepperoni and Cajun fries. The slice of pizza is your average giant slice has lots of pepperoni on it and a bit oily. The Cajun fries were crispy and crunchy and the flavoring was definitely on point! The Cajun spices added a great kick to the fries, but didn't make it too spicy to eat. Pino's also sells sandwiches as well if you're not in the mood for pizza.

Dan S.

Yelp
Located on busy Beacon Street near Cleveland Circle, this place has been around for decades, maybe 50 years. Street parking only. The MBTA green line is a stone's throw away. Open from 10am til 1 or 2am, this is not a fancy place. Pino's does take out and delivery with a modest $3 charge and no minimum. The food is as GREAT as it was 30 years ago when I lived in Brookline. The pizza offered is either thin crust or thick crust. The thin crust pizza is amazing. The dough is just right and there is a virtually flawless blend of sweet tomato sauce and cheese. They don't skimp on the cheese. A huge choice of toppings with plenty of vegetarian options and meats, including BBQ chicken. Slices are only $2.75 and are the size of Texas. You can order meals like spaghetti and meatballs or chicken parm, etc for $12.99 or so which seems like a lot for a pizza joint. I will try one of them the next time I order takeout as so far, everything we have ordered is delicious. Pino's has amazing subs. We split a sausage with peppers and onions that melted in your mouth. Prices are reasonable and the portions are huge: about $8 for a large sub. This is a busy place yet they are highly efficient. You place your order at the counter, pay, and they let you know when it is ready. There is not a lot of space to wait so most folks sit at a table to wait if there is one available. Now that I have family less than a mile away, I will be back for sure!

John F.

Yelp
Pinots pizza was great the yelp driver on the other hand never rang. The bell never called us to say that he was there or she We found the food out left on the porch cold.

Ann C.

Yelp
Grabbed a slice of square pepperoni. Service was pretty meh, pizza wasn't fresh, and was soggy and greasy. Honestly, I think costco pizza tastes better (and is cheaper).
