The 18 Essential Filipino Restaurants in Los Angeles

"Pinoy Pinay opened in 1992 in the heart of Cerritos, where traditional home-style cooking. A lot of customers will call ahead to order heaping catering plates of beef kaldereta, sisig, and pancit for parties, but those just coming in for lunch can pick a two-item combination plate with dozens of options like pork adobo or lechon manok with pancit palabok." - Emily Joy Meneses, Eater Staff

After some time visiting our go to Filipino restaurant in Lomita and after they changed location, raising prices, and deciding to go full blown commercial, decided to take a drive to Cerritos and pay 'Pinoy Pinay' a visit and give them a try. Me and my family came with a healthy appetite for Filipino home cooking. Being our first time not really knowing the outcome observed the many people visiting this spot. The smells and displays of their food was quite tantalizing. They have a large variety of dishes to choose from and our favorite is curry chicken, chicken/pork Adobo, pork menudo, pancit, lumpia, and I love binagoongan (which to my disappointment they didn't have today). My wife and daughter got their special combo with Curry chicken, grilled pork skewers which came with 3 scoops of rice. One bag of Lumpia and sweet dipping sauce. I got their special combo with Filipino menudo, pork Adobo, and the 3 scoops of rice. One of the servers behind the hot cases asked if I wanted their free bowls of homemade soup (being that I love soup) "Yes please" she also asked if my wife wanted one as well for she was ready to pay without getting any. She turned it down knowing she wouldn't finish it. After getting our food we selected a booth and started to enjoy our meals. To all of our surprise, everything was delicious. I was disappointed in the soup for it was just a tad bit on the vinegary side. I have had the chicken soup at our old Filipino go to restaurant and enjoyed it there, however here, was not for the taste palette. With the soup being too vinegary and their fish sauce/vinegar bottles on the dining tables needing a little tending to (could use to change to a more convenient dispenser), being my only gripe, I give this restaurant a 4 star. Restaurant was clean, organized, and had great service. We will be coming back to check out more items on the menu. Great Filipino food Pinoy Pinay!

I came here for the first time with my daughter. I enjoyed everything, the food, the atmosphere, even the decor! We ordered two Pinoy combos with drinks. I was even happy to find a bag of pan de sal! My daughter is half Filipino and I have been taking her to different restaurants to try the food. She enjoyed the food (we got chicken and pork adobo). It honestly was one of the few places where it tasted like my grandma's adobo. I even enjoyed the decor, from the bamboo seats to the hanging decorations and pictures on the wall. Such a nice change from the modern Filipino restaurants I have been to.

Their pricing is cheap and large portion imo. It's fast food take away style so you order first and sit eat anywhere. Probably one of the cleanest and most presentable filipino restaurant in Cerritos. Highly recommend this place to fellow Filipinos and google local guides if you’re looking for a good Filipino restaurant. Clean bathroom and surrounding as well! Everyone is friendly. Free water and sauces is available. Can get hot inside.

Their pricing is cheap and large portion imo. My sis and I shared a 2 entrees meal and we had left over. We shared a cup of halo halo also. This is inflation, sharing food. It's fast food take away style so you order first and sit eat anywhere.

I like this restaurant they're very professional. I ordered full tray of pancit malabon, half tray of menudo, half tray of beef kaldereta, full tray of rice and half tray of assorted kakanin here for my daughter's 1st birthday. I ordered 3 days before the event and they made everything on time! It was even me that got to pick up everything late, and they called me to make it sure that I didn't forget to pick it up. My favorite is the pancit malabon it's so yummy! Thank you to the staffs of this restaurant! I will surely order here again next time we come back to Los Angeles!

This place is great! But you all who didn't like it need to understand this is a deli, set your expectations. We ordered two 2 item plates and an order of lumpia. My god this place has tremendous value. Each of the plates were $11.50 and the 5 lumpia we're $2.25. In the picture you'll see 2 combo. The first with the adobo in the box (all that is 1 of the 2 entrees) and the 2 BBQ beef skewers. The second has a box of rice out of view with pancit and beef steak. You'll see an order of lumpia as well. The flavor of the skewers were fantastic, great char, sweetness, and savory (was a bit cold when I had it, my fault). The adobo was garlicky, soy sauce and a not really vinegary ... I can't make out why it's orange, but it's good! The pancit had crispy pork skin on it so don't mindlessly chomp down on it! The beef steak taste kind of like beef and broccoli. Both were great with rice. All of this was pretty heavy so I'd say some lime or table vinegar would be a perfect compliment! Everyone was super friendly, and at 1:30pm Saturday this was was packed with a line that doesn't stop! Since it's deli style, I'd recommend going earlier when the food is fresher. This place takes card and cash, but with a $0.50 charge with a card. This place definitely hit the spot, not a place I'd take family from out of town to try, but as a local, I'm already thinking about my next trip back!

Wanted to try Filipino cuisine. I personally did not know what to expect and I had a mediocre experience. On the positive side though, the price is super affordable, the portions are huge and there is a wide variety of items hot and ready to go.
