I live out of town and found myself here twice in one month. SO good. The service was right on, super friendly. All I can say is, the tomato salad, summer squash, pickle plate, fried fish, beef tartar, lobster ceviche, cookie butter ice cream, candy car dessert, and the blonde brownie were simply fantastic.

Google
Very enjoyable retirement dinner with family at Pinpoint. Loved the farm to table approach. Veggies with my seafood dish were outstanding. Quinn R our server did a great job taking care of us along with the rest of the team that recognized the event. Thank you!

Google
Incredible food. Everything was good, and I'm not being hyperbolic. The housemade pickles were great, oysters were incredible, and the entrees were interesting. Drinks were just okay, but they have a big menu so there's lots of options to choose from and customize. The service was amazing. I spent an anniversary dinner here, and it was perfect for the occasion. Would absolutely come back again.

Google
We liked this place! We had there amazing dinner with friends. Staff was so friendly, he explained us everything.

Google
Fantastic service and a great atmosphere. Went for our 34th anniversary and wanted an above average dining experience which we definitely enjoyed! Really appreciated our server and his flexibility on serving my wife and I. On negative was a bit pricey. But for something special it delivered. Will go back in the future.

Google
Jeff, Cam, and the entire team at PinPoint are so friendly and accommodating! They just hosted our rehearsal dinner and welcome party for our wedding weekend and every detail was perfect. From helping us curate a timeline and menu, to flawlessly executing an amazing meal with wonderful service for all our guests, everything turned out better than we could have imagined! I highly recommend PinPoint for a perfect date night or any events.

Google
Fantastic experience. The owner was wonderful, atmosphere was perfect, and service was wonderful. After excellent drinks, we went with the waiter's ( Devin) suggestions. Looking forward to trying everything, but will need to get those delicious drinks and Shrimp appetizer and raw oysters again soon!!!

Google
We came here on a whim when the first restaurant we tried to visit was closed. We were blown away by the level of food and service here. The steak and pork were both fantastic - amazing blends of flavor that were unexpected and really fun. Great wine selection, and a fun atmosphere. We will be back!

Yelp
Just a delightful dinner experience - from the time we were escorted to our table until the "goodbyes" at the door. It is obvious the people here are determined to treat you in a first class manner and they didn't disappoint. The idea of farm-to-table is interesting and they make it work. My Mahi-Mahi was perfectly prepared and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her pork tenderloin. Oh, one other thing: the BEST Manhattan I've had in years.

Yelp
We made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner at Pinpoint. There were 4 of us. When the food arrived, the sides were all mixed together. We were given a plate of sides the same size as the two tables next to us that were both parties of two. Really? What shocked us was the small amount of turkey, and let's not forget that the waiter forgot our ham halfway through our meal. When we asked if we could get more sides if we were still hungry the waiter said he would have to "ask the chef". It was awkward and embarrassing. The apple pie was cold and tasted fairly good. It was just too cold, but the least of our concerns. All the parties of two went home with leftovers and we left hungry. $400 for a turkey dinner for 4 that was barely enough food? It's sad that restaurants would take advantage of people. We visit Wilmington often, and we will just put Pinpoint on the do not eat list.

Yelp
We took advantage of the Labor Day weekend and drove to Wilmington. This was our last day in the area and thought we would celebrate with style by dining in one of the notable restaurants in the area. This was one of the more recommended places to visit. And I'm happy that it didn't fail. The decor was subdued and tasteful and reservations were easy to come by. We got an awesome table facing the street by the door. It was nice and warm so it didn't bother us too much when the door opened for people to get in. We were supposed to order the following entrees - Mahi Mahi - Raw Oysters - St. Louis Ribs - Potato Salad Unfortunately, the menus changed when we arrived so that left us with the following alterations - Changin' Ways Fried Chicken - Six Baked Oysters - Six Raw Oysters - A mocktail and a Guiness - A brownie and marshmallow dessert The fried chicken was well seasoned and tasty. Not spectacular but filling given the fairly generous portion. I'll give this a B+ The baked oysters were delicious but I wish there was more. This gets an A-. Likewise for the raw oysters (yes, I ordered same, cooked two different ways - is it obvious I love them?) My wife's cocktail was refreshing and mildly addicting. I wish I ordered the same instead of my stout. But how can you not pick a nice pint of Guiness when the establishment has it? The brownie dessert was good. Again, not spectacular but satisfying, nonetheless. A solid B+. I was going to give this place 4 stars but it's the service that elevated the experience to a 5-star rating. The staff was friendly, accommodating and helpful in recommending the choices as well as allowing us to sit even though we were 30 minutes ahead of our reservation. We were willing to wait, but they wouldn't have any of it. They asked us to wait for 3 minutes and found the perfect table. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Fantastic meal at Pinpoint in downtown Wilmington! Modern atmosphere and friendly staff as you walk in the door. Our reservation was seated right away and they acknowledged our birthday celebration with a toast and a sign. This farm to table restaurant had a great variety of options for appetizers and entrees, all in season. Cocktails were very well crafted. Food was amazing! Everything we had was incredibly fresh and had dynamic flavors. We didn't have room for dessert but they all sounded great. Definitely a top notch restaurant!

Yelp
I've been to Pinpoint three times now and all of the times were great. Menu is always changing so keeps it interesting. Most of the food and ingredients are local too, so that's nice. Parking garage and lot are right across the street or if you're lucky you can park on the street. From the most recent visit, we started off with the assorted pickled carrots, cucumbers, green beans, cauliflower, and parsnip. I liked the green beans the most because it had more seasoning, was the most flavorful. The one I liked the least was parsnip, only because I'm not a big parsnip fan. The rest of the pickled vegetables were very vinegary. For dinner, I had the spear caught grouper which came with a mixture of spring peas, black-eyed peas, asparagus, cooked collard greens, flavored with herbs and fresh mint, mezcal strawberry beurre rouge sauce. Black Eyed Peas mixture had a tinge of spiciness. My partner had the 1855 NY strip 48, which came with smoked carrots, asparagus, mushrooms, parsnip purée and a chimichurri sauce. Both of our dishes were delicious, wish I could make these at home. What could've been better is if the collard greens were cut into smaller pieces as they were just long strands I had to keep slurping up. Regardless, I loved the abundance of vegetables. Also had complementary bread, which was good, fresh, served with butter. Would've been better if they were served warm though. Bread is made in-house. For dessert, we tried the German chocolate cake with a coconut and pecan filling, cacao nibs, salted caramel and dulce de leche served with a scoop of house made vanilla ice cream. It was so divine and perfect! One of the best desserts ever and best ice cream. It hit all the spots with different textures and flavor. It was like a brownie cake. To celebrate my birthday they sat us at the booth seat right at the window, which was fine. But it was a little annoying to eat dinner at the time right when the sun was going down, with the sun shining in my face. At least it made for good people watching. Limited high chairs are available.

Yelp
PinPoint is all about giving you the freshest local ingredients and putting a unique spin on dishes. Because of that, the menu is always changing so be sure to check before you visit as it is a smaller menu. We tried the seafood pasta which used a delicious sourdough noodle and pesto cream sauce. We also enjoyed the mushroom peach bbq platter. The sauce was sweet but the smoked carrots gave it a nice balance. Lastly, we tried the fingerling potatoes which were crispy, garlicky and everything you'd want. The service was EXCEPTIONAL. Best I've had in awhile. Everyone was attentive, genuinely friendly, were passionate about the menu and food. I would recommend for a special meal!

Yelp
I had a wonderful evening at Pinpoint with a group of fellow Yelp Elites- we decided to try a bunch of different items to share and loved them all! We made a reservation to make sure we had a table- we were seated in the back which allowed us to admire all of the artwork on the walls as well as see all the dishes coming out of the kitchen. Our waitress was super nice and answered all of our questions. The food was across the board delicious! Definitely worth it every once in awhile (it is pricey).

Yelp
This place was such a gem. Located in Historic Downtown Wilmington, PinPoint is the perfect place to sample all of Wilmington's finest. We booked a reservation with OpenTable and were pleasantly surprised at how quiet and spacious the restaurant was. Our server talked us through each of the items on the menu and we tried a good amount of everything! The oysters were our favorite by far, they had a juicy saltiness to them that I just loved. We ordered the pimento cheese as our other appetizer as well as the local mahi and local grouper for our entrees. Both dishes were incredibly unique in their flavor profile and were the PERFECT size. Dessert was again a perfectly sized apple skillet that capped off a fantastic visit to Wilmington!

Yelp
I went out for date night with my boyfriend and we had such a perfect experience here! Drink list was varied from approachable to stout. I ordered the watermelon mojito and my boyfriend got the Blind Melon. Service was tailored to us and our server, Ryan, made sure to keep the laughs and celebrations throughout. He made us feel comfortable and educated us on everything we were eating. We also noticed the teamwork in the restaurant, and really appreciated that. Thank you so much Ryan!

Yelp
We enjoy ourselves during our dinner here. The restraint has a nice ambience. Host and waiter were nice and attentive. Drinks were strong. Although I'm used to a little more fruity drinks. Nice portion. Not too little or not too much. We finished our dinner nothing left. I'd go back.

Yelp
An expensive disappointment. My spouse had the mushroom dish which was original and tasty. I had the seafood pasta which came with 3 lonely, tasteless shrimp, 3 little nice clams and pasta (nice al dente) but the dish was insipid. I don't mind paying a high price for a dish but it has to be memorable. This was, but for the wrong reason. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong dish.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! It was our first night in Wilmington for my brothers wedding and this place was recommended. It did not disappoint! Would definitely recommend!!

Yelp
PinPoint lives up to its reviews and reputation. This is an excellent restaurant. Menu isn't large but they execute everything very well. Great place for a special occasion. Just note. It is expensive. Know that before you go. Also, make a reservation. You can do this online and via Open Table.

Yelp
We absolutely love this restaurant, and the waitstaff are some of the best in Wilmington. We had dinner the other night and surprisingly had issues with two of our dishes, hence the two star deduction. 1). The fried chicken entrée cost $34. What we received was one small drumstick, and one small thigh or wing. Mostly thick batter and what little meat there was, appeared to be slightly undercooked. A joke was made at the table referencing Bojangles was clearly the winner in comparison. Not sure if the chef was aware of how much this item cost but very little thought, skill and talent went into the preparation. 2) we had ordered the octopus that came with mixed vegetables including Japanese eggplant. The preparation of this vegetable was not edible and clearly the chef was unaware the final product. They were burnt on the outside and filled with oil on the inside. If Management is reading this, I highly recommend you have a secret shopper order these items to get their feedback.

Yelp
Food was amazing, I got the pork chop. Great for date night. Service was excellent and quick. Bartender made a really good cocktail to my craving!

Yelp
It wasn't amazing but it was very good. Our server was nice enough and the ambiance was absolutely fine if nothing special. It could be plucked up and plopped in any small city in the South and would look perfectly appropriate. As to the food -- very well done but nothing really stood out too much-- 1. Oysters were well shucked and tasty; 2. Beef Tartare was pretty interesting with tzatziki and really tasty pita chips -- probably the most memorable thing; 3. Grouper with parsnip purée and root vegetables was really well done but nothing amazing: 4. Smoked cauliflower with roasted carrots, sautéed mushrooms, braised greens and yogurt sauce was very tasty, especially the mushrooms and the harissa on the cauliflower; 5. Strawberry pavlova was a pretty solid rendition of the genre And 6. Sorbets were good though the basil and balsamic one was incredibly icy. Overall it was absolutely good and I would definitely recommend it. Also I will say I did like it better than its more famous neighbor Manna and, unlike Seabird, it was actually open, but I am not clamoring for a return visit in the very near future.

Yelp
We dropped in for drinks only tonight as we were headed next door to "Channel" for a YES Event. Nate the bartender nailed these drinks this evening with the perfect summer cocktails, the wife's Victuallers Word and My Clergy's Cooler were just amazing and made with Nate's hands. Well Done Brother!

Yelp
We wandered into PinPoint last evening and had possibly our best Wilmington dining experience to date! And with all the great restaurants downtown that is saying something! Ryan, our waiter was very knowledgeable, and as a local actor/comedian, he was very engaging. We started with a dozen oysters and the smoked blue cheese. Both were fantastic. We also enjoyed the steak tartar, mushroom plate, and soft shell crabs. Really, my words are failing me this morning. I can't hope to describe how good it all was! Oh, and the prohibition old-fashioned was soul warming! We finished with some French press coffee and the German chocolate cake. We highly recommend everything. And if Ryan is your waiter, you will get a much better description of all these delectable treats!

Roy W.

Yelp
Food was tasty and special. Pretty small menu (only 7 main dishes) Service was good It's a pretty expensive place ($35 average for main course)
google avatar

Yelp
Stump sound oysters were delicious! Shrimp and grits entree was fantastic, too. Great service! Favorite Wilmington restaurant!

Yelp
Amazing service, incredible food, and the perfect date night location! I always love going to PinPoint, but they knocked it out of the park the other night! Octopus is my favorite food and restaurants in the USA rarely prepare it correctly. PinPoint's chefs made the most tender and perfect octopus! It's the way it should be--it should NEVER be chewy! RUN don't walk to try the octopus on the menu right now! Who knows how long it will be there....

Yelp
Best wilmington restaurant period. Attentive staff and uniquely creative and loyal local menu!!!

Yelp
We got lucky to be seated on a Saturday evening without a reservation. The ambiance was really cool. Very unique place inside. The hostess and our server were very friendly and helpful. The menu is small which we love! This means food is fresh! Very unique options. We opted for a few apps. The drinks and food were tasty and different. Not somewhere I would run back to unless there's something on the new menu I must try. I do recommend it though as it did not disappoint.

Yelp
The only issue we had was the time it took to get our food. We were seated before 6:00 pm, ordered by six and didn't get our food until 6:45!!! End of negative review.... The Mahi Mahi was TERRIFIC!!! Loved how the accompanying grits, green beans and cauliflower were prepared. The fish.....D-licious!!! The other person at the table enjoyed the oysters and the peach salad. They enjoyed their food too. I'm not sure why it took so long as the rush hadn't arrived yet - but the food was definitely fantastic!!

Yelp
This place is gem in downtown Wilmington. Let me start by saying the food here is delicious. From my cocktail to the almost dessert-like Roots & Fruits salad to that heavenly fried chicken with the accompanying squash, which was one of the best things I've ever eaten. My husband had ordered the grouper but about 10 minutes later they informed him it would have to be Mahi. There were several large groups that were seated right before us so the staff was hustling up and down the steps to get food as quickly as they could but it's gonna take you at least 90 minutes to eat here so plan accordingly. It took us almost 2 hours. Also they had a new hostess they looked like deer in headlights. She seated us at our 2-person chair/banquet table and then returned and made us move. That is really the only issue we had this busy weekend night.

Karen W.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting Wilmington for a long weekend and the best food and experience we had over the four days was at PinPoint! Incredible food and craft cocktails!! Delish!

Kate M.

Yelp
Fresh food, great drinks, great atmosphere, excellent service. Have paintings by local artists hanging in their restaurant.

Deborah D.

Yelp
Amazing French dinner and wine pairing. Service, food and wine perfect as usual. This young chef is so talented and thoughtful in his preparation of food!
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Great space (perfect noise balance) Fantastic staff Excellent oysters Interesting wine list/drink menu The food fell a bit short. I had the flounder. When plated and served the kale polenta base was cold. Flounder hot! Too hot. And dry. So the base was plated waiting on the flounder. And the flounder may have been reheated (was requested). And, sadly, not salt, no seasoning, no flavor. Great place but on this night my entree, was not very good. Maybe just an off night and a reheated entree that sat in the hot pass too long
google avatar

Caroline D.

Yelp
The service and the food here are spectacular. On the food -- we had a full three course meal and not one dish disappointed. Do NOT skip dessert.
google avatar

Yelp
Pinpoint is one of those places we've been meaning to go to for a while, but never quite made it. Our loss. At least until now. It was a Saturday night and just the two of us, so we decided to head downtown and see where we ended up. I didn't really think we'd get into pinpoint without a reservation, but we lucked out. Admittedly, it was on the earlier side (6:30). Had we tried an hour later all bets would have been off no doubt. We started with the deviled egg dip appetizer, which came with crackers and simply the best focaccia I've ever had. Light and airy and hard to resist, even for this 'non-bread' person. I went with the Berkshire pork chop with ratatouille and hubby had the pork ragù. My pork chop was very good, but not the best I've had. It was a tiny bit on the dry side and the ratatouille was a little too vinegary for my taste. No complaints at all with the ragù, which was perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. Desert was a 'ring ding' looking concoction which was amazing! The ganache it was coated with was sheer perfection and as smooth as silk. Service was impeccable. Our waiter, Lewis, was professional, funny and knowledgeable. A real treasure for the lucky owners! Speaking of owners, he stopped by after we were finished and asked how everything was. A nice touch. Thank you for a lovely evening!
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Devin was our server and he was super knowledgeable. I appreciated that they could make some kid friendly options for our pickier eaters too. I had the steak and my husband got the pork chop! The food was delicious

Yelp
PinPoint is my favorite restaurant in Wilmington, hands down. I adore this place. Tucked in a narrow storefront on Market Street downtown, PinPoint has everything I love about a dining destination-- inviting ambience, excellent service, innovative cocktails and delicious food. Full disclosure: I thought I had already written a review of this outstanding establishment back in 2016. My husband and I were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary and had reservations with two other couples the night Hurricane Matthew was bearing down on the Cape Fear region. We had already been evacuated from Holden Beach, and were riding out the storm with my parents in Leland. Paula Poundstone had canceled her appearance at The Wilson Center, and we feared PinPoint would be closing as well. We needn't have worried. About an hour before our reservation, PinPoint called to make sure our party of six would be arriving. They pulled out all the stops that night. We secured the beautiful round table in the heart of the dining area, and were expertly taken care of by server extraordinaire, Matthew. Coincidence? Since that fateful night, I've been back to PinPoint several times, and each time has been as good as the last. This place knows how to entertain, and they do it right. The cocktails and wine list are on point, and if you grab a seat at the bar, you might get lucky and have Nate explain how a particular drink is made or suggest the perfect wine to accompany a plate of oysters. (And it might not be the wine you'd think. But it will be the right wine to go with those beautiful, briny jewels of the sea.) They are always happy to accommodate my gluten issues, even offering GF crackers as an alternative with my oysters. Which I passed on, as oysters need no additional accoutrements. But those GF crackers are excellent with their house-made pimento cheese. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Steven M.

Yelp
Great food. Oyster specials though the week. Great bar and ambience. Very worthwhile!

Lynn T.

Yelp
Devin was an amazing waiter! We were on a bachelorette trip and wanted a nice dinner - could not have had a better service experience. You must get the pimento cheese and potato appetizers! The steak and chicken were also excellent!
google avatar

Craig M.

Yelp
First time visiting PinPoint. Excellent food. Friendly wait staff and a very attentive back of the house. Kitchen was knowledgeable about gluten free food preparation which made the dinner experience a pleasure.
google avatar

Julia W.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place but the dishes just didn't meet expectations. Quail, pork chop and cheese plate were great but the oysters and beef tartare left a lot to be desired. Drinks were mixed
google avatar

FM O.

Yelp
The team here way compensates for the terrible delay in the kitchen. We ordered food at 8ish and did not have it plated until after 9:30. I had the $42 pork chop and it was as not worth $8 (Dry, warm and tasteless) the places seems to seek a NY vibe but they fall way short. Mostly because the staff is well meaning but lack organization. Very dysfunctional, starting with the bar staff to the servers. No disrespect to the hard working people, it's just that, when you spend $250+ with a meal and gratuity. You would expect great food and THIS IS NOT IT.
google avatar

Kaitlyn C.

Yelp
Our first time visiting PinPoint was absolutely incredible! I booked a reservation for my husband 28th birthday through open table and they not only listened to my requests but gave us the best service. I also surprised my husband with the table side scotch cocktail where they smoked his drink at our table! Our server was Audri and she was so spectacular!! 10/10 come here and enjoy the dinner service, you won't regret it

David L H.

Yelp
Had my Fathers Day dinner there with my son Horrible service from kitchen Food was mediocre to bad oysters dirty fish small and dry Took forever to get our entrees One star is being generous Avoid this place
google avatar

Raymond G.

Yelp
This being my second time dining at this amazing restaurant, all I can say is, what a wonderful place! Devan and Audrey both have gone well above and beyond to make my wife and I feel the most welcome and made our experience fantastic. Behind the bar, Samantha goes out of her way to make sure we're having a phenomenal time and has even come out to our table to say hi and to bring my wife a complimentary glass of champagne as a happy birthday token. It's the little things that go a long way with us. We're very pleased to have found this place and will continue to make it our weekly dinner spot. Most definitely recommend.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Had a fantastic and unique vegan meal! The staff was very accommodating and able to walk us through what on the menu could be made vegan. We had the Garlic Confit Hummus (no cheese) and the Country Fried Cauliflower Steak. Both were absolutely delicious! They also had two off-menu vegan ice creams available for dessert. We had the peanut butter ice cream which was fantastic. They also made us some great non-alcoholic cocktails.

Jeff ..

Yelp
Love this place! A bit pricey but well worth the money. Always a great environment with professional execution and great taste!

Yelp
No reservation but was seated quickly at the bar and they had a table ready shortly but we decided to stay at the bar. Great service, vibe, drinks, and food.
google avatar

Marissa S.

Yelp
So glad that we decided to try PinPoint for dinner during our 1 night in Wilmington. Definitely recommend making a reservation - we ended up with bar seating which is what we preferred. We started our meal with a couple of great cocktails and the bartender introduced me to one of my now favorite drinks - the aviation. The nutty bee's knees was another great cocktail I tried and they also had a pretty decent wine list. The service was friendly and attentive. They made great recommendations when it came to drinks and food. After we received our first round of cocktails, we had the best hummus I've ever tried. It was a sweet potato hummus and it's been months now and I still talk about it! For entrees we ordered a bottle of red wine and tried the NY Strip and fish special. Both were seasoned and cooked very well and the accompaniments were equally as delicious. Add PinPoint to your list for dinner if you are ever visiting the Wilmington area :)

Yelp
Here's the deal with this restaurant. The food was top notch but they receive 4 stars due to COVID protocols and service. We ordered the assorted pickles, the Pork Chop, the crab cake, butternut mole, and the warm brownie. I loved all of it. It was all amazing. But here's why I give it 4 stars we arrived at 7:45 and didn't get our main course until 9, but to be honest the food was amazing and worth the wait. The COVID protocols were not great though. We had a nice table that was distanced but I looked around the restaurant and it looked like they were running full capacity and the tables were close. All in all, the food was great but the service was a little slow and the Covid protocols were not so good.
google avatar

Sharon G.

Yelp
Ugg. Smallest oysters ever! $32 for 12 and barely fit into 1/4 teaspoon! Would not recommend. Smallest lemon ever as it's the piece the bartender won't even use; Remnants! Crackers you could not even find as there were 8 or so about 1/4" size fitted into a small cup. Luckily upon our dismal looks on our face, the mgr came out and comped the oysters.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Very meh, Very underwhelming for the price point. Drinks were good, just the food lacked any real flavor.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Everything is absolutely DELICIOUS! service is great, drinks are on point and the restaurant is small enough to feel cozy but big enough that it doesn't feel cramped! Staff is also super kind and accommodating!!
