In Bergen‑Lafayette, this family‑owned spot riffs on Asian comfort food with care—hand‑folded dumplings, udon in coconut curry, and rice bowls with seasonal vegetables. Featured by Thrillist and local outlets, it’s an inviting detour beyond downtown’s usual circuit.

♥️Absolutely the best coconut curry I've ever had in my life! Perfectly spicy, incredibly flavorful—just the way it should be. 💘The taste blew me away. Huge compliments to the chefs! I also want to wish you all the best—this café is not only beautiful but also serves truly delicious food. Highly recommended❤️😊

Google
Food was phenomenal and fresh. For 2 it was basically a $100 lunch. But I would definitely come back. It was clean food and a clean facility. Laid back and comfortable atmosphere. It’s not the cheapest chicken but it is REALLY REALLY good. I had curried tofu supreme with added chicken. My son had the short ribs. We did the lunch special with the rice pudding.

Ordered takeout after hitting the Statue of Liberty. Food is delicious and they were super courteous in answering questions! Definitely would recommend anyone looking for good Thai/fusion in the area.

It was a nice experience. If you want to enjoy authentic pan asian cuisine, this is a nice cozy place. It’s not a very large place for dine-in, but the atmosphere is warm, making it a great spot to enjoy a relaxed meal. Recommendations: Chicken and Shrimp dumplings and Thai Basil Fried Rice. Mushroom Drunken Udon Noodles were good, I have had better though.

Google
Wonderful service and atmosphere combined with delicious food! I would recommend this Pinwheel Garden to vegans, as they have many delicious and clearly labeled vegan options. We got the Aloo Gobi Dumplings, Coconut Milk Curry (with rice), and the Lamb on Mashed Potatoes. The Blueberry Iced Tea is also very refreshing, not too sweet at all.

Google
Must go for mushroom lovers! My 2yo and I really loved the thai chicken and shrimp dumplings and the maitake ramen. For those who aren't fungus fans... The mac & cheese dumplings were also scrumptious!

This place is a Hidden gem in Jersey City. So many Vegan options, and ingredients are organic. You can eat out and not have to worry about what you put in your body. Food is very reasonably priced for the portion and quality. The environment feels so cozy and welcoming. My friend and I ordered two meals and we were stuffed. I recommend their drunken noodle and blueberry lemon tea. Definitely visiting again.

Google
The place was inviting , the atmosphere was great, the server was attentive to us, answering our question with option choices, but unfortunately the meal was not up to a great standard. My friend bourbon fried rice had an over powering taste to it, was not enjoyable for him, I even tasted it myself I didnt get a good taste of a fried rice. As for my ramen I don't think it was worth that price at all . The chicken slices and pork was hard to chew on.

Yelp

Yelp
I've lived in the neighborhood for years and have always enjoyed coming to this restaurant. The food is consistently great, and I love supporting local businesses--this place has been one of my go-to spots for a reliable, quality meal. That's why I was so disappointed with my experience tonight. My boyfriend and I came here for my birthday dinner, and things started off fine. But midway through our entrées, the waitress (who had actually been the one to seat us) came over and asked us to move tables because a family of four had just arrived and wanted our table. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of how disruptive and inappropriate the request was--nothing to make the situation right. We weren't offered anything to compensate for the inconvenience, and the whole interaction felt rushed and completely lacking in empathy. It was clear the priority was accommodating the new party, not treating existing customers with respect. Even though the food was, as always, delicious, the way we were treated left a really bad impression. I've supported this place for a long time, but after this experience, I won't be returning.

Yelp
We felt like we were eating Art. We felt like the chefs here are ingenious and have so much passion for cuisine. I seldom feel that for food but this place, I and my kids felt like all the food was strong art pieces. So pleasantly fragrant, delicious, perfect textures on ingredients. Amazing!!!

Yelp
After spending a chilly rainy day visiting Lady Liberty we stopped in here for a late lunch. Nice selection of teas and I warmed right up with their house made hot chai. My husband had their cold blueberry tea which was also flavorful and refreshing. Started with their Aloo Gobi dumplings which were light and tender served with I believe was a tamarind sauce. The chef cooked our entrees in an open kitchen so I was able to enjoy watching him work his magic. I had the Thai Basil fried rice with butter garlic shrimp (I know, right!) and my husband had their Bourbon Bacon Drunken Udon with Char Sui Pork (again!!). It all was layered with flavors and presented beautifully and bountifully. The atmosphere is super laid back and unpretentious. If you are from the area and you haven't been there you are missing out!!!

Yelp
If your life needs a little bit of spice, Pinwheel Garden is the place for you. I ordered the mushroom drunken udon with tofu and it was exquisite. The place is small and woodsy but great for a date or simply a take out.

Yelp
Got this meal to go and I loved the different flavors. I haven't had Thai food in a while and this curry dish definitely hit the spot .

Yelp
This hole in a wall was an absolute treat. Found it by searching for top spots in JC and was delightful to find out it is true for pinwheel. The food here speaks for itself with great flavors and perfect fusion blend. We loved everything we ordered especially the dipping sauce that came with the alo ghobi dumplings. I don't even like curry generally because of the heavy coconut taste and this place changed my opinion on that. Great portions, very reasonable prices, friendly staff this comfy local joint shouldn't be missed!

Yelp
Came here for dinner with friends. I have to say though the ambiance was the best thing about this place. Service was good. The food taste was good and the portion was normal. However, the price was a bit on the high side. We came here Feb of 2025, even though we are known for inflation and shrinkflation, but I didn't expect to be charged an arm for food in here... A bowl of udon with proteins for $30 and a bowl of short rib, which didn't feel unique and special, instead I felt like i was eating normal beef for $40... I'd reconsider coming back here in the future if they lower the price... Otherwise, I'd stay away from here for a long while...

Yelp
I came to this restaurant with my fiance during the evening. We walked 50 minutes to get to this place, so we were hoping to be served really good food. They had outdoor and indoor seatings and the restaurant was very cute and cozy. There weren't a lot of people working there but they made it work. This place turned out to be amazing and I'm glad I walked 50 minutes to eat here. There were two chefs and one server. We could see the two chef cooking and work their magic in every dish. We ordered trinity ramen and curry with tofu. Both dishes were amazing. The trinity was more on the expensive side but they do pack it with a lot of meat. The dishes were so flavorful and very filling. There is water that is self serve at every table. Overall, we really enjoyed this place.

Yelp
Food (5/5): Wow this place is super inventive and the food is so beautifully presented. When I walked in and saw the menu I had some doubts because the prices were a bit high and there were a lot of vegetarian dishes. However, the food ended up amazing. We got the ramen Trinity and it was so beautiful and well tasting. We watched them cook it since the kitchen is open and it's impressive how they got it to look so nicely. Taste was also great. We also got the tofu curry and despite no meat it was amazing. Service (4/5): Solid service where they were flexible, helpful, and got our food out efficiently. No issues but the servers could've been more friendly or checked up on us more. Ambiance (4/5): Well lit and cute store with indoor and outdoor areas. The rustic organic vibe fit the dishes of the restaurant. The surrounding area felt a bit gritty at night. We were going for a night walk for 50+ minutes to end up here and it ended up being worth it.

Yelp
As Californians, we do enjoy Ramen so we made a quick stop at what appeared to be a local Ramen shop. we were greeted and asked if this is our first time which was definitely a plus. We were also asked if there is any dietary restrictions, I personally have several food allergies and was just going to carefully distinguish myself how to order but we were assisted with suggestions so I was able to order something that was absolutely delicious, which was the coconut curry With rice and my protein would be shrimp . The chef was made aware of my allergy. The knowledge of the menu was helpful to each one of our choices. Thank you for the experience. The restaurant it self was clean and the music was perfect . Our first meal in town .

Yelp
It is a small place, not that many tables. The food was overly pricey. The waitress used the same pair of gloves to clean a table and then went to the register to place orders and collect payment and then used the same gloves to serve us our food...... major health and safety concern.....not sure I would come back. Plus she used the same pair of gloves to wipe down the table and the cloth gets reused... I guess what you don't see /know won't hurt you....

Yelp
Clean, great service and reminds me of carinderia food and vibes back in the Philippines. I highly recommend this place, especially if homesick or craving Filipino food.

Yelp
Here's another vote for the mushroom drunken udon, a basil-infused offering that continues Pinwheel's dismantling of my long-held fusion-skeptic beliefs. I don't know the technical term for this but was delighted at how the sauce was kind of built in to the whole dish. The pork was an appealing add-on option (on Uber Eats I paused when seeing Mushroom Medley as one of the options; since it already has mushrooms I wasn't sure how different the extra mushrooms would be). The regular Spicy category was on the low side of moderate so I'm curious about the Extra Spicy choice.

Yelp
We ordered this for takeout and it was FANTASTIC. I just know that means it would've been even better in person! We got the Mac & Cheese Dumplings (so unique and delicious dipping sauce), Coconut Curry with Chicken (flavor was delicious) and Beef Short Rib Bowl. Honestly, we loved all of them and will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Thai basil fried rice was absolutely flavorful. You would think walking past it, it's a plant shop with the number of plants in and out of the restaurant. Not much seating but they also have tables outside as well. Customer service was great as our food came out fairly quickly. I totally recommend the blueberry lemonade.
google avatar

Chaunna H.

Yelp
I've only ordered delivery. The food traveled pretty well. I'm sure it tastes better fresh out of the kitchen. I had the mushroom basil udon with tofu. Good flavor the first time. Second time was a little bland. I ordered the shrimp dumplings. Also kind of bland but good enough. The rice pudding was really delicious.

Yelp
- scallion pancakes are the truth - the curry sauce on the side is the condiment that I never knew I needed - 6 minute turnover time leads to a great snack on the go - they're kind of expensive tho, they cost much more than the 99 cent scallion pancakes u get in the nyc chinatowns - they're really good tho

Yelp
Hosted a community event and the food was so good! Everyone enjoyed the coconut curry deluxe with jasmine rice, mushroom udon noodles, strawberry rose rice pudding and blueberry tea.
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy in my tummy!!! The food here hits. The flavors are out of this world. The scallion pancakes are some of the best I've tasted, the Korean BBQ was quite tasty, and the udon noodles ... nom nom!!

Yelp
If you're in Jersey City and haven't been to Pinwheel Garden Dumpling and Noodle Bar, you're seriously missing out. My girlfriend and I stopped by around 3 or 4 PM and were seated right away. It's a small spot, but it has such a cozy neighborhood feel, perfect for a date. The staff was super attentive and gave us great recommendations, which did not disappoint. We started with the dumpling sampler platter with two Thai chicken and shrimp dumplings and two bacon and veggie dumplings, both absolutely delicious. You know the dumplings are good if they got that crispy dumpling skirt! For the main course, we went with the mushroom drunken udon, which was packed with flavor, and the best part is you can customize it with your choice of protein. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and worth every bite. Don't sleep on this spot because it's a must-visit.

Yelp
Fun place in the Morris Canal district. a group of 5 of us came here for dinner the last weekend in August, and it didn't disappoint. At first we were going to sit outside but then we moved inside because of the biting critters. We chose this place because one friend is vegan, another is gluten free, and both felt they would be able to get what they wanted here. I thought the menu was a little limited, considering what I had heard about this place in the past. I ordered the Bourbon Bacon fried rice and while it was huge, there wasn't much bacon in it at all. However, it was delicious. I had to bring more than half of it home and wound up sharing it with my daughter as a side dish the next day. Too many onions, not enough bacon, but still very tasty. My friend ordered the Trinity Rice Bowl, which looked great. She, too, brought most of it home. We could have ordered 2-3 entrees for the 5 of us and would have been satisfied. Service was great, the place is tiny so make a reservation if you plan on going on a weekend evening.

Yelp
I have been to Pinwheel a few times now. It's one of the only places that has a pretty good balance of vegan and non vegan options. It's very small inside and byob. If you can snag a spot inside to eat it's cozy otherwise you can take out. I've done both and the food quality is about the same. My favorite thing there is there is the scallion pancakes. Something so simple yet moist and good. It's great with curry dip. I've also had the coconut curry with Udon and chicken, the mushroom drunken udon with chicken, the Thai basil fried rice vegan style, the mushroom duxelle fried rice, and the Trinity Ramen bowl. My favorite is the Mushroom duxelle. Something about their fried rice that's really good. It's not heavy on the stomach either. All of the dishes that I had were pretty amazing. They also have a great tea selection as well as a dope rice pudding. Definitely a place that I will frequent. The staff is friendly and the food have always tasted fresh.

Yelp
We never really dine in Jersey City but had this place bookmarked from our last visit to the Liberty Science Museum and finally decided to try it. The staff is really nice and well-informed on vegetarian options. We ordered a decent variety for just the three of us but we were excited to sample! Most everything is a generous sized serving and makes for great sharing. Miso Soup (tofu)- our son liked this- decent size serving and the tofu was perfectly bite sized rather than the tiny pebbles we have seen elsewhere. Scallion Pancakes - came to us hot off the grill, the sauce that accompanied it was not useful as it had that strong "alcohol" taste. However the pancakes had the right texture and flavor to hold their own! Mushroom Fried Rice- this was not memorable at all. It tasted like earthy wild rice with not a lot of distinct flavor. We actually did not eat more than a few bites. (Note: they did knock a few bucks off the bill because they saw this) Coconut Curry with Udon- This gave us sustenance for the night and was filling and presented well. We did feel they were really heavy-handed on the turmeric. Overall, we were glad we tried the place, and felt taken care of by the staff. The food has potential and it may have just been a slightly off-day.
google avatar

Julianna Y.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place because everything looked delicious! I have to say though the ambiance was the best thing about this place. Service was good but the food is sub-par at best. It looks delicious, but the flavors all had something either missing, or it just lacked flavor. If they changed recipes , this place has amazing potential!!

Lovetoeat T.

Yelp
We chose to go to this restaurant based on the great review of the restaurant. Especially the review, which said Jesus have came off from the cross and make the dumpling. We ordered bacon, vegetable, dumpling, and Thai chicken dumpling. These dumplings were freshly made taste above average. The onion pancake was also freshly made good taste for the main course. We ordered the trifecta Ramen bowl overall the taste is above average but not great that I would want to come back anytime soon especially with the high pricing.
google avatar

Yelp
Pinwheel gave this cozy intimate atmosphere as soon as I walked in. There are only a few tables but the whole place is well laid out and decorated. We went with chicken and shrimp dumplings. They were okay. The mushroom fried rice was bomb. They used a small variety of rice that is well tossed in the wok and has the actual fried aroma with each bite. The ramen was very good too. They used the long udon type of noodles but were creative with the toppings. The entrees are vegan and vegetarian friendly and they give the choice to add any protein. This is modern Asian fusion food and they don't well.
google avatar

Leah C.

Yelp
I gave pinwheel another try since I seemed to be the only one to have had a negative experience, but, I still was not a fan. I added a star because their peashoot greens were extraordinary. I got the drunken mushroom udon and it was disappointing, it wasn't very flavorful and the dish was just a cluttered mix of things that didn't blend together to make a cohesive dish. The udon noodles themselves were cooked well but that's really the only positive I can give this dish.
google avatar

Thriscia L.

Yelp
Best dim sum around. So convenient that it's close to the Liberty Science Center. Will definitely go back. The mac and cheese dimsum and thai chicken dimsum are my fave! Service is impeccable and they are very welcoming to family with young kids.
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorites in town. Discovered them during the pandemic but I remained a regular until I didn't. Nice to be back, love the food here. Now they have more variety more to chose from.
google avatar

Diana H.

Yelp
Wow! I was in the area for work and decided to check this place out for lunch based on the amazing reviews. It definitely did not disappoint. I ordered the mushroom drunken udon and it was amazing. An explosion of flavors, so buttery and savory. I'd love to try more things in the future. I'd highly recommend.

Yelp
Another delicious meal at Pinwheel Garden. We started off with the Shrimp/Thai Chicken and Bacon/Veggie dumplings which were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The Trinity Ramen Udon Bowl had lemongrass, chicken, pork braised beef, kimchi, and topped with two soft boiled eggs. Everything was tender, and broth was perfection.!
google avatar

Angyl B.

Yelp
Steve (owner/manager) reached out regarding the experience and apologized for the unfortunate treatment and inconvenience. Our family will continue to eat here as the food is undeniably delicious.

Yelp
Super savory and flavorful ramen! Loved the Kimchi on top with the onion crunchies and fresh greens. Mushrooms were top notch and it was a good sized portion. Service was fine. Food was very delicious!

Yelp
Cute small restaurant very close to the Liberty State Park. We wanted to visit the park and see NYC from a New Jersey and we were able to park at the state park and do a 30 min-ish walk to this place to eat. There were plenty of parking available so you could drive instead. The food was good - but ultimately it felt like a "stir fry" assembly bowl/noodles place. Maybe because it was an Asian fusion place nothing tasted authentic but more of an Americanized Asian food taste. The kimchi was the delicious though, would highly recommend it as a side dish with any of the main entrees. The flavors were a bit lacking. I got the mushroom drunken udon and my partner got the Trinity ramen. The mushroom drunken udon was disappointing because there were BARELY any tofu!! They smashed it into tiny pieces to incorporate into the sauce. They trinity ramen could have had more flavor. They say they cook the soup base for 36 hours but it was quite bland. The char-Sui pork was gross, I'm not sure where that meat came from but it did not taste fresh and does not look appetizing either. Lemongrass chicken and beef was good though. Overall it was a good meal but not enough where I would go out of my way to drive here just to eat it again.

Natty C.

Yelp
I highly enjoyed my meal here. Came on a week-day evening and it was getting packed. They only have a few tables inside. It is also BYO. Went with the dumpling sampler and tried 3. My fav was the Mac and cheese dumpling, next the spanakopita and last chicken and shrimp. Also tried the scallion pancake which was very good. Entree, I had the mushroom drunken Udon noodles and added beef as my protein. It was a very big portion and packed with veggies and flavor. Overall, everything was delicious and I'd definitely go back. I did notice they closed their doors at around 8pm during the week.

Yelp
Decent modernized taiwanese cuisine in the area. Amazing service from the owners as well. Here are some dishes we got to try: - mushroom drunken noodle 4.5/5 - great taste with pact with umami but lacking in portion size - bourbon bacon fried rice 4/5 - fragrant and colorful. Definitely not your traditional fried rice - dumpling sampler 3/5 - would skip this. They lacked a bit of flavor compared to their other dishes They also have a great selection for vegan/ vegetarian options
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Came here a weekday lunch. They didn't have all the dumplings, only had bacon one. Disappointed. Bacon drunken udon- yummy but salty. Need to drink a lot of water after. Pretty pricey.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally tried this place and it is AMAZING! We tried the thai chicken and shrimp dumplings, mushroom drunken udon and the bourbon bacon fried rice. Everything is tasty. The mushroom drunken udon is my favorite.Must try. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. The place itself is small with a few tables and street parking can be tough at times.

Yelp
Cartwheel for Pinwheel! A perfect dining choice for Valentine's Day. The dining room was cozy and quaint. Very clean with plenty of room. We picked up our take out order and look forward to coming to sit and dine in. The prices seemed a little high but each dish we ordered was enough to feed 2. The dishes were well packaged with enough room to breathe. All was presented and garnished in the box as it would served on a plate in the dining room. We ordered the bourbon bacon udon noodle with braised beef and the thai basil fried rice with lemon grass chicken. Both dishes were packed with flavor. The proportions of meat to noodle/rice was balanced generously. The aroma was mouth watering. Every bite was delicious and the leftovers were just as good if not better the next day. We will definitely return to try other menu items. Thank you Steve!

Yelp
Little while in the wall spot. Food was delicious, service was basic, not bad though.

Yelp
This place was pretty good. We ordered a bunch of different things and everything was flavorful. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I love the quaint ambiance as well. It had a good vibe and was welcoming with tasty food.

Yelp
Pinwheel Garden is one of my favorite spots in Jersey City! The restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's worth waiting for a table. It's usually pretty easy to find parking on the street, which isn't always guaranteed in JC. :) Some of my favorite things to order here are the Mac and Cheese Dumplings (sooo good!), the Mushroom Drunken Udon (a great vegan option), and the Veggie Bolognese. The portions are generous, so I usually leave with leftovers for the next day. I've seen Pinwheel Garden on a few delivery apps but I can't speak to how the food travels. I may check it out soon though!

Yelp
Good place. We had lunch there on a weekday. There were no other customers there. The service was excellent. We got seated right away. Mac and cheese dumpling was strange but good. It had mac and cheese in the dumpling and some white sauce on the side. I had trinity ramen which had a mix of different meats in a nice noodle soup. It was delicious. We finished off with nice green tea ice cream. Overall a satisfying lunch. Only street parking was available but easy to find parking. I recommend it here if you are looking for a good noodle and dumpling place. I would go back again, if I were in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I came here for Valentine's Day - this place is awesome! Parking can be difficult in the area (it's street parking) and the place is relatively small so be mindful! Definitely do reservations if possible. We started the meal with 2 appetizers: the aloo gobi dumplings and the scallion pancakes. The aloo gobi dumplings were okay - nothing special. The scallion pancakes however were a different story, they were so delicious and crunchy! It was recommended by our waiter so glad we did that. For our main we ordered coconut curry and a side of kimchi. This was honestly enough for 2 people so I'm glad we got an extra plate and split the meal. The portions are quite generous! This place can get pretty packed. We went at 6pm and around 7/8ish, there were lines of people trying to order for pickup! Overall I really enjoyed my meal here, it was pretty awesome.

Yelp
Was it worth the wait? Yes. The place is small, but great service. Unique twists on your typical asian dishes. However, theyre a bit more expensive but i think it was nice to try something new. I would come back just for the Mac n Cheese dumplings alone. Theres a lot of options for veggie eaters too, which i loved because i can adjust the dishes. Yes! I LOVE dumplings, and these are so unique. To be fair, they are on the expensive side. Also make sure you are clear about how many order, we received the wrong order (more of a certain kind) versus another. I highly suggest getting the Mac n Cheese dumplings! The spinach pie ones are basically similar to a greek spanakopita. theyre very unique and tasty too. The one i was underwelmed with were the THAI SHRIMP AND CHICKEN DUMPLINGS, the flavor wasnt as strong as the other too. although good, just didnt impress me, i could have had these anywhere else. scallion pancake is a must get, its perfect, but the serving is incredibly small. mushroom drunken noodle is a must get! HUGE portion too! looking forward to come back!

Yelp
Since it's lunar new year I thought some noodles would be appropriate! My boyfriend and I live around the corner but decided to Uber Eats since we're feeling lazy. We got the mac and cheese dumplings, the bourbon bacon drunken noodle and the mushroom drunken udon (add braised beef). Our order came with a free iced blueberry lemon tea. The mac and cheese dumplings are SO good. I wish there were more than 4 pieces. Both noodle dishes are really good and flavorful. My boyfriend got his noodles spicy and there was definitely a kick. Unfortunately our Uber Eats driver forgot the drink so I called the restaurant to see if I could come pick it up. The man on the phone (who ended up being the owner) was extremely apologetic and when we got there he gave us an extra free - extremely generous of him!! The restaurant is small and cozy. This is a really cute local restaurant. The prices are a little high but the great quality and service justify them. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Yelp
Nothing authentic but if you are willing to try a little mix and match, this place could be fun. Somewhat overpriced but I guess it's reasonable given the location. I recommend the dumplings. The Maitake udon noodle was mediocre, but my friend said the mushroom drunken noodle was good. Very friendly services.
