We were in the mood for a new delivery experience the other night, and I came across Pinwheel Garden Dumpling & Noodle Bar, which had been on my list. The menu was brief, but also creative and an interesting blend of Asian cuisines. It appeared to pride itself on utilizing better ingredients, like grass-fed beef. Those premium items came at a price, though, as each of our meals was around $30, which seemed insane for delivery.
I will say that I adored the way the restaurant packaged our meals. My Coconut Curry was kept separately from the accompanying noodles, so they retained their texture. The Udon noodles were thicky, chewy, and topped with fried onions. The curry sauce was unbelievable! It was more Thai curry than Indian curry, as it had a sweetness to it. I spent the $2 upgrade fee to go beyond protein and peppers to also include onions, cashews, raisins, broccoli, cauliflower, and grey squash. I also spent another $6.75 to add antibiotic-free chicken as a second protein beyond the included organic non-GMO tofu. In the special instruction section of my order, I asked that the tofu be steamed and not fried. When the food arrived, there was a note on the check responding that "we cannot do this". I figured that was fine, and I would just deal with the fried tofu, which was just not my preference. However, they just omitted the bean curd entirely! Also, the chicken was a very strange texture. The pieces were thin and lean, but somehow very chewy. They were not dry or fatty, just hard to break down. (I later looked through past reviews and saw similar feedback.) Despite the protein mishaps, the curry stew was unbelievable and all of its vegetable ingredients were very fresh! Next time, I think I would get it with rice and a different protein, though. I also heard rave reviews about the Grass-fed Black Cherry Bulgolgi Ricebowl, which included similarly lean beef, onions, snow pea leaf (which was like bitter Chinese broccoli), house kimchi, and Kalijira rice.
I think we would consider ordering from Pinwheel Garden Dumpling & Noodle Bar again, but I would need to change up my selections nest time.
