When my Spanish friend who knows about Pio Pio he was so excited because he went to Pio Pio in Queens and he had great experience with the food and service. This location is a small place with (not ready vibes) looks like just open for few day. The ambiance isn't look good and only some painting on the wall. Service was so so, there was a mistake on order, rushing, I have no idea if this is a Spanish style of service. Steak, Chicken were good buy Caviches Mixto was not that great. I went to Peruvian restaurant before and this place taste like American Peruvian more than an authentic place. Price is way too much compare to quality and taste of food. Should be better.

Whole in the wall with authentic homemade Peruvian cuisine. The Lomo saltado was tender and perfectly seasoned. The fried plantains were sweet and perfectly fried to a carmelized golden brown crust. The Aji sauce was the icing on the cake👍🏼. Spicy as it should be, not for amateurs.

I have eaten at another Pio Pio location once before, and it was great. This time, however, left a lot to be desired. I ordered online but I called to ask about the chicken serving sizes. I was placed on hold for a long time and when she finally spoke to me she seems hurried and grouchy. I asked her what size chicken she would suggest for 2 adult men. She said to order a half chicken for us to share. That was no where near enough food for both of us. The first time I had Poi Poi everything was exceptional and the attention to detail was remarkable. This time around the food was just mediocre and the customer service was disappointing.

Be careful with the menu prices!!! I called to put a take out order, the lady didn’t tell me the total billed amount, when I arrived they charged for 4 empanadas 24 and the matador is 74!! They raised the prices!! Check the website for the updated menu version

This was my first time trying Peruvian food. I was very impressed. I had the Matador Combo. At first, I was about to order another selection from the menu, but our waiter told us the Matodor combo is enough food for two. She was definately telling the truth. It was more than enough for two, and the price was very reasonable. All the food was AMAZING! The Sangria was okay. I think it would taste better with a mix of fruit in it. Google gave me directions to the location closest to me. Pio Pio 3 is very small inside; a bit tight. Very intimate I would say. Since they have 9 locations in all, I would prefer to try another location that is not so tight. Overall, I had no complaints. I enjoyed myself, and the food was AMAZING!

If you haven’t tried Pio Pio yet your missing out on life changing Peruvian food. All I can say is that nothing bad comes out of that kitchen. Go and make sure to order extra green sauce ;)

I like Pio Pio and the chicken is damn good but the restaurant was empty and yet they made a deliveryman stand outside in sweltering heat while waiting for the order. I understand the restaurants position that they can't have all these people waiting inside but there was noone there and exceptions must be made sometimes on a human level. I'm sorry i didn't demand that the delivery man sit at my table.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this restaurant open on New Year's Day after the first place I tried was closed--and honestly, it felt like fate because the food was absolutely delicious! We started with the Arroz Chaufa, a flavorful fried rice with chicken (we added shrimp), which was fantastic. We also ordered the Lomo Saltado. While it was a bit salty, it was still very tasty. To drink, we had their most popular red sangria, which paired perfectly with our meal. The only disappointment was the dessert. It was my first time trying it, but it lacked flavor and wasn't as soft as I had expected, especially since it's similar to a cake. Despite that, I'm giving them 5 stars because the service, ambiance, and quality made up for it. The restaurant was clean, and our server was patient and helpful, which made the experience even better. I definitely have to come back for the chicken!

Their Peruvian roasted chicken is still so tasty. Had a half chicken here as a late lunch and it was the perfect amount along with the avocado salad. The green sauce is a must.

Only had their delivery so far but omg, their fried rice is so addictive! Chicken was also perfectly cooked and the green sauce never disappoints.

After living in the neighborhood for over a year, and constantly saying "we are going to try this place one day"... we finally did and really enjoyed it! The place is small, but it was pretty quiet and empty when we went so had no problem getting seated right away. The server was so sweet. Took our order quickly, checked-in on us periodically, and food came out pretty fast. Here is what we got... - Yuca Fries... probably the only thing we didn't really like/ won't order again. They were just a bit dry and not so flavorful to us. - Ceviche Mixto... solid portion and good amount of variety. Flavor was also good. - Juanita's Chicken - okay if there is one thing you HAVE to get here, it's this. So juicy, so good, and definitely reccomend. - Saffron Rice and Red Beans - Good! - Sangria - also really good! I didn't know this, but they have a really good lunch deal - $14/$15 for quarter chicken, salad, and 1 side. It is a bit pricey, but I did like that chicken, so I might just start coming for lunch to get some more!

3.5 Stars Haven't been to a Pío Pío in ages. Remember when they were the game in town in terms of rotisserie chicken (back in the days). First time having seafood at a place known for their chicken. Must say that their ceviche wasn't bad. Cool twist with the two types of corn . Also, those two slices of potato were interesting. Just felt it was a bit pricey. The chicken didn't seem as "fresh of the rotisserie" as I have experienced before. The rice was a bit on the sticky side. The salchicha-papas and the maduros were on point. The portion of flan was generous Our server was very friendly and attentive. The establishment is small but cozy.

Always delicious food and service. The spot on the UES is small like the midtown spot. The UWS is much larger. Anyway the chicken, avocado salad and rice and beans are always our go to dishes. The green sauce is so delicious. The chicken is always cooked perfectly. The best ingredients are always used. We love it.

Disappointed in how quality has gone down, this used to be an amazing place with great service and food. Went in today and waited to be seated and nobody came to take our order, waiter passed us about 3 times and not even a "I'll be right there with you". So we walked out, and the prices are crazy. 60 for a combo. No thank you.

I've been away and tried a few other Peruvian chicken places. I'm back and I'm convinced that Pio Pio upper eastside serves the best chicken in NYC and all the other entrees on the menu are well prepared. It looks like a Real Chef is in the kitchen. Bravo to the management to rededicate to serving good Peruvian food to NYC. Keep up the good work.

Delicious affordable traditional Peruvian food. We had a great experience in this location even though their menu is a bit smaller than the location on the UWS, they had available exactly what we were looking for, we had the lomo saltado, 1/4 rotisserie chicken and the fish ceviche. Everything was delicious. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely come back again or order delivery from the restaurant since they offer delivery directly through them, which can be more convenient if f you are trying to save some bucks for all the delivery apps fees. The decor is authentic more like a family style place than a fancy restaurant where you will have a date, however the food was too good to care about anything else. Would recommend sharing the big plates like the lomo because is huge for one person.

hit the spot came here with a friend and we hit up the peruvian combo. came with a whole chicken - came out hot and super tender. also came with a giant plate of crispy fries and a fresh salad w/ avocado. dressing was light and delicious. really hit the spot. service was fast too.

Food here is solid- we shared empanadas, arroz chaufa, salchica, and half a chicken. I'm not sure how the arroz chaufa is Peruvian style because it tastes like any other fried rice but it was delicious. I thought the salchica would be sausages but turns out it's a plate of hot dogs (still good). The half chicken was juicy, and tasted even better with the table side addicting green sauce. Service was friendly and we did not feel rushed at all. The food came out quickly despite the high volume of takeout orders they were preparing.

If you're looking for tender, flavorful, dream worthy roast chicken, look no further. Pio Pio is a true winner. If you're looking to feed a group, consider the Matador or Peruvian combo. Both come with fries and avocado salad but the Matador also comes with rice and beans, salchipapa instead of regular fries (added pieces of hot dog, sounds weird but it's good!) and tostones. Avocado salad - delicious and simple- ripe avocado, tomato, radish, carrot, celery, onion and iceberg. The dressing is yummy, I think it has garlic. Chicken- so flavorful! It is marinated and somehow it isn't dry. Sangria- you can get a glass ($10), half pitcher ($20) or full pitcher ($42). I recommend the half or full pitcher since it's a better value. I like that they fill the pitcher with wine and give you glasses with the ice so the pitcher isn't full of ice. I'm a big fan of Pio Pio and recommend you check it out!

The sweet plantains we're old and overly fried .. the steak sandwich has crumbles of meat scattered fries no sauce or cheese dry with hard bread. The small pork chops are overly salted and not worth the price. My tongue is stinging from the salt. That's not ok!!! I called the restaurant who doesn't understand English and could fix their mistake because of this. Unacceptable!!! So disappointed and to add insult the manager told me to call Uber and get a refund. which did not happen. No accountability. The ignorance that I just paid for was disgusting. Definitely lost a faithful & long time customer.

I've only gotten delivery here but everything I ordered was yummy and delivery was quick. I usually order branzino and octopus.

The chicken is excellent. The green sauce, remarkably by itself, makes everything better. Yucas, beans, rice, all top notch. The ceviche is also excellent and fresh. We just love this place. Only average thing is the salad- a skip with iceberg and flavorless tomatoes.

The mothafriggin tostones dipping sauce. That shit is so fire, it's a suplex straight to the tastebuds. I ended up dipping everything in it. The food reminded me of my grandma's cooking. Slow cooked with love, simmered all day long, while us kids ran around crying, whining, breaking shit. Highly recommend. The Peruvian beer they have was crisp. Really wet the appetite.

by far the worst one i've gone to yet. the restaurant was not busy at all, and yet we struggled to get the staff's attention. I could hear everyone on TikTok, the waiter and the receptionist. The waiter also criticized me for the tip I left, even though he only had to come to our table to take our order and drop off the food. The food was great, although it should be expected by this chain of restaurant.

What a disappointment. Used to be a staple ordering weekly. prices have gone up and quality way down. A citerella chicken is half the price and 2x the quality. The chicken is now dry, soggy fries. They forget items regularly.

While I have yet to dine in at Pio Pio, I have done take out and the quality of the food has been outstanding! Large portions, tasty dishes, and quick delivery. It's a great place for a well-rounded, tasty meal!

I really like Pio Pio. The Matador combo hits the spot every time! We went almost as soon as they opened on a Friday for lunch and I knew that there would be more than enough food for the three of us with the Matador combo. It comes with a rotisserie chicken, yellow rice, red beans, tostones, salchipapa, and avocado salad. We added on an order of maduros. This is the third location of Pio Pio that I've eaten at and the consistency among the restaurants is impressive. The chicken is so tasty and really everything is very flavorful, even the rice and beans. The portions are excellent too and it's served family style. At lunch, they also have a quarter chicken special with a house salad, side of your choice, and drink for $13 (Juanita's chicken). Known for simple, but flavorful, peruvian food, Pio Pio is fast and won't break the bank. The food and service were 5 stars but they didn't have heat on the cold day in January when we went so -1 star. It's hard to enjoy food when you are shivering!

Prices have doubled or more $13.50 for half a chicken! ! Outrageous used to be reasonable.

Absolutely one of my favorite Puerto Rican restaurants. They have the best chicken here and the sides were also really really yummy as well altho I didn't like the olives in the empanadas (i personally don't like olives so I wouldn't order this again). I would highly recommend coming here. This is one of the few places I think about coming multiple times

Horrible experience today June 4 2023 called in an order @7:28 and was told 30 min which is fine got there and was told an extra 20 min which is now 50 minute went back in @8:25 pm and was told they didn't have any chicken and was told maybe another 25 minutes. how does a place know for there chicken not have chicken on dinner hours , no I'm sorry I apologize nothing very unprofessional from Margaret who was in the front . Also please inform customer of your chicken problem before taken orders .

Casual Peruvian restaurant located in the Upper East Side. Generous portions that can last for a few days amongst two people. The Matador Combo was the ideal order as it came with a main plus multiple side dishes and salad. The combo included Juanita's rotisserie chicken which was tender and fell off the bone. Sides included saffron rice which was fluffy and incredibly flavorful alongside red beans. Out of six additional side dishes, we choose salchipapa (fries with hotdogs) and tostones. Tostones were a bit bland. There was also a side of avocado salad which was relatively fresh.

I'm not even able to judge the food, being that the order was 20-25m late even though the order was submitted 1.5h in advance.

Yum. Moist. Flavorful. Chicken. The skin is a little salty but SO good. It definitely satisfied my craving compared to a similar meal I had closer to home which ended up in disappointment. Can't go wrong with Pio Pio. A whole chicken is 24$ and if you only want dark meat it's an additional $4. So pretty much 4 thighs but at least it was a decent size. With inflation these days... these prices are to be expected. The saffron rice was SO good and moist as well with that green sauce - decent portion for $10... No ragrets

Lettuce in the salad had clearly gone bad (brown edgers) and when we called for a replacement they wouldn't send one nor give a partial refund because it had been 2 hours since it was delivered. We had finally put the kids to sleep after feeding them the chicken and had put the salad in the fridge. Lettuce shouldn't go bad in 2 hours....Not ordering from them again.

I've been coming to this place for years and years now. And nbot a single time has the chicken tasted any different nor anything less than AMAZING!!! Other dishes I'm not big on, but the chicken makes up for everything else. I've had the lomo and the empanadas and I always ended in what seems will be my go to for the end of time - Juanita's Chicken, Yucca Fries and Avocado Salad. You will never ever go wrong with this selection. Their green spicy sauce is also and absolutely wonderful complement to the fries. This is the one things that does vary in taste ... sometimes more or less spicy, but always good. The service is good. Servers are pleasant enough and have never had a reason to complain. As for the ambiance ... it's a small location, when compared to the other Pio Pio's, but it's nice. And they redid the bathroom and it's a normal sized bathroom which is most definitely a plus.

I came with my fiancé for just a regular dinner date during the week. This was his first time at Pio Pio but it wasn't mine. I knew the food was great, but he didn't know until after. We ordered a pitcher of Sangria which was so tasty and flavorful and not to mention the fruits inside Just gave it a kick. We ordered some empanadas and they were great! I really wish I took pictures of what we ate because it was sooo good. We have gone once more after this and there will definitely be more dinners here. The service was also superb, the host seated us in a timely manner and our waiter attended to us and made sure we at all times were good!

I loved loved loved this place. I thought cali Peruvian food was good, but This def held its own! I have a new go to when I'm in NYC.

I tried to give them another chance, they continue to disappoint. Don't order delivery, they don't seem to care about the chicken they select for you or the packing of said chicken/food.

This review is mainly for the treatment I received. I ordered through ubereats a pick-up. I arrive there a bit later and my order was given to someone else. I ask the hostess to put my order again, she calls someone (her manager presumably) and tells me to contact Uber eats despite it not being their fault. I do but they take forever. I had to order again and leave my Uber eat order pending, having lost 1 hour instead of them being proactive and helping me restart my order asap. I'll adjust my review accordingly.

I absolute love this place! This will forever be my go to spot to eat. There green sauce is what makes everything extra delicious, and there garlic sauce for the tostones is delicious as well. I always get there Matador combo. Chicken, salad, rice and beans, tostones and hotdogs with fries. I never can finish it all so I end up having the rest for the next day. (Which I don't mind) lol the service is quick and prices are affordable for the amount you get.

Perfect! Two people recommended this restaurant to me. I had never been there as the one closest to me is above 86th St. in Manhattan. I don't usually like to eat above 86th St. only because I am never sure of the quality of the food. I went there today for lunch. It was fabulous! One of the first things I look for is cleanliness it looks spotless. I will be going back many, many times. I had a quarter of a roast chicken with salad and plantains and a soda of my choice was included for $15! Even had enough to take home for a snack later it is a very small restaurant on First Avenue but very pretty. It was painted with bright colors and designs. The staff was wonderful. Very accommodating. Most importantly, the food was delicious!!! The chicken was soooo good. Moist and the plantains "Maduros" we're really special. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a terrific meal with lots of options at a reasonable price.

We order once a week from Pio Pio on First Avenue. Margaret takes our order for delivery. She is a warm and very nice person. Our food is so good from Pio Pio. We get the Peruvian chicken breasts, Saffron Rice and Red Beans and the wonderful Sliced Salad. If you haven't tried Pio Pio you are missing a wonderful food experience.

Consistent, good food and great takeout and delivery. Love pio pio! Everything is so flavorful and they are so prompt w their delivery.

Originally wanted to try international wings factory but they had a mid afternoon break? So we came here instead to tide our stomachs over. The place pretty empty when we stopped by at 3:45pm. We sat down and asked for the lunch menu only to be told rudely that lunch was over. We countered that it was only 3:45pm and she said "oh ok" and gave us the menu. We order the lunch special, which consisted of 1/4 chicken, a salad, and fries for $12. We also orders empanadas that was $8 for two. The lunch came first. I was severely disappointed. It was literally the thigh of a chicken and a small chicken at that. The salad was just lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken was ok, tasted to me like a slightly better Costco rotisserie chicken. The best thing about the meal was the fries. Tossed some salt on it and it was actually quite tasty. The empanadas were also decent, a better deal than the lunch special. Overall, only empanadas were worth it. I wouldn't go out of my way to any of their locations for chicken again.

Really, really enjoyed my meal here today and will be coming back for sure. Came here for some Peruvian food and boy was I blown away. The service was great, and the food was served quickly. The calamari was perfect to start. Not rubbery, didnt feel like it was frozen, and not dripping in grease. The most with rice and veggies we got to share was delicious and tender. It was so flavorful I had a hard time not spooning the sauce into my mouth. The whole chicken was just devine. Juicy and tender, cooked perfectly and goes so well with the green sauce. Excellent all around, and the sangria was SO good too! Definitely get a pitcher of red!

As you probably heard from many previous reviewers, the chicken is delicious with that special spicy irresistible sauce. I always get the matador chicken special with maduras, rice and beans, and avocado salad. Enough for three. Compared to other choices in this neighborhood, this is the place I return to again and again for delicious food at a bargain. When this place isn't too crowded, I have noticed the experience is a lot better. So I recommend trying to beat the dinner rush or come later. My review is strictly for takeout. I was staying at a hotel in the Uoper East Side and decided I wanted to get take out. In a city like NYC the choices are endless. I was in the mood for Peruvian Cusine. They are known for delicious marinated ROTISSERIE STYLE CHICKEN , JALEA ( which is a fried seafood platter) CEVICHE ( which is raw fish that is marinated and cooked in acids like vinegar or lime/ lemon juice.) , RICE N BEANS, and SANGRIA. When ordering their Rotisserie Chicken you have a choice of 1/4 , 1/2, or an entire chicken. You can request all WHITE MEAT, all DARK MEAT, or a COMBINATION OF BOTH. ( Tip) If you want to save a dollar off your total cost you should pick CHEF'S CHOICE. They will decide what pieces you get. No matter what you choose it's all really good. The prices here are very reasonable. This is not the norm in NYC where even spaghetti is considered a side and can cost $13 extra on top of the price your alreading paying when ordering chicken parmesan. You can get a whole rotisserie chicken for $10. PIO PIO 3 Offers complete meals for 2 or4 people. You can order accordingly if you are feeding more people. They offer a good amount of APPETIZERS and MAIN dishes if chicken is not your bag. I decided to try their 1/2 ROTISSERIE CHICKEN ( all dark meat.) It came with RICE N BEANS and a side. I chose YUCCA with garlic sauce. My chicken was super flavorful and their AJI VERDE SAUCE ( green sauce)really complements the rotisserie chicken. The combinations of flavors really had my mouth watering. The RICE N BEANS are some of the best I've ever had. The beans were soft and creamy and the yellow rice was cooked perfectly. For my side I chose YUCCA it was so good. The garlic dipping sauce is definitely a must.if you want extra sauces it's additional but well worth it. Alone, it's very plain. PIO PIO 3 Offers KIDS MEALS and they have over 8 tropical juices, and some Peruvian Sodas to choose from besides serving Sangria and Desserts. I would highly suggest trying this place. You won't be disappointed. The delivery was on time and there's no charge for delivery but definitely tip.

Delivery Review: I was really craving some rice and beans so I turned to Pio Pio 3 for some guidance. My roommate had ordered it once before and I had a little nibble and found their rice and beans to be quite delicious. I ordered their quarter size chicken with a side of rice and beans and the tostones. The delivery came super quick, in a matter of 15-20 minutes. The chicken for quarter size was sufficient to keep me full with all the sides I ordered. The chicken was the typical rotisserie chicken one would expect. What I really liked were the sides. Rice and beans were large in portion, with big beans and delicious yellow rice. The tostones were also large in size, fried and crisp on the outer edges, great tasting from the plaintains. Extra special with their verde sauce. Overall, yummy and filling take out. I would order again if craving rice and beans and some big tostones.

The Jalea should be taken out out the menu. It's the second time I order the Jalea and it doesn't come with the fresh fish or good seafood, it's only yuca and baby octopus for a high price. The quality is refried and old. I won't order this dish again. Suggestion: just don't sell this, I waste my money all the jalea went to the garage:(

I love Peruvian food and Lomo Saltado in particular. Therefore, when I noticed this Peruvian option was a block away from me, I absolutely HAD to come eat dinner here. $28 for a plate of lomo saltado seemed steep, but sometimes you have to treat yourself. Well, this was merely a decent meal, but definitely not worth the $28. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good.. just fair. The restaurant also lacked a nice atmosphere. Only myself and one other person were dining in. This seems to be a popular location for people to place an order for delivery since there were drivers constantly coming in and out to pick up orders to deliver. Overall, i can not in good conscious recommend this place at this price point. The other diner had the rotisserie chicken, so maybe that would be a better option if you do choose to dine here.
