I own a hair salon in Scottsdale & this year we decided to go to PIP for some coffee & a wheel throwing class as our holiday party! It was so much fun & very reasonably priced! The instructor was amazing, encouraging & patient. Plus the space was just so gorgeous with the morning lighting

Google
My group of four friends took the menorah making class with Nadia today and had such a good time. She was an amazing, helpful, patient and motivating teacher! She encouraged us to get out of our comfort zones and try to make something a bit more daunting and ambitious and was super helpful every step of the way. The studio was well equipped and clean. We loved our time at PIP and can’t wait to pick up our fired pieces! Also the ube blondie brownie was amazing

Google
Had an amazing experience here! Booked the whole studio for a work team event and everyone had a blast ! The studio is super cool and the staff and instructors were great - especially with dealing with 15 unruly novices! The cafe section is great too! Looking forward to another visit.

Google
We had such a great time! We came as a family of 5 from ages 38-75. The teacher was fantastic offering so many techniques and lots of encouragement. If you have ever thought about doing this - just sign up and go. It was so much fun and we all left wanting to come back for more!

Steve T.

Google
Steve was very clear with his instructions and his demonstrations. He was very encouraging and helpful while we were making our pottery. I will recommend This class to my friends and family.

Google
Amazing date night! Bennett was a great instructor. Patient, humorous, informative, and intentional. Andrew was great and assisted where/when needed. Will definitely be back!

Google
Took a beginner’s class with my boyfriend and had a great time! Our instructor (so sorry do not remember their name (had frosted tips)) was excellent. Super supportive and funny and just let us play in the clay after a very thorough demo on how to properly get things started. The class was 2.5 hours so a good amount of time to make a couple things. I’d go back for sure.

Brionna C.

Google
Had my first experience here today and it was awesome. The staff was so friendly and helpful, getting us set up in the open studio time for the first time and helping us choose from their different clay options. The studio spaces are nice and tidy, and I especially enjoyed the one with the big garage doors and natural light. It was perfect weather to have the doors open and enjoy some fresh air while creating! Thank you Andrew for showing us around and being so kind, and Kevin for answering my questions before we came. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
This is my second time visiting @pipcoffeeclay in Phoenix. I brought a group with me and this is their first time experiencing this ultra-friendly and down-to-earth café and clay throwing and sculpting studio, that also serves cocktails, bagels, burritos and more. The food is high-quality with a lot of house made items in the café at the front of the establishment. There are also clay items for purchase, as well as some other fun gifts to shop through. At the back of the building, there is a clay studio with large windows to let the sunlight in and an upstairs area for clay sculpting that also brings in a lot of natural light. We decided to come in and take the Beginners Wheel Throwing class for only $55 each. This includes 10 balls of clay, two creations of your choosing to be fired and glazed, and an instructor taking you through the steps and walking around helping you if you need additional support. All equipment, wheels and tools are included. The class lasts for two hours of clay throwing and the last half hour is cleanup and choosing your glaze. This gives you a total of 2 1/2 hours. I think this is a bargain for the class that they are offering. My crew and I were celebrating our girls' birthday and enjoyed some lattes and bagels before and after our wheel throwing class with Elena, who is an excellent and patient instructor. She said our entire group was extremely chill because nobody was yelling or cussing as our creations got demolished on our wheel - Haha Namaste Clay Ommmm We get to pick up our creations in three weeks after they have been fired and glazed twice. I chose a yellow glaze for my two bowls. My girls, guest and hubs chose black, clear, and yellow. There was also a pink glaze available on this day. I will post how they turned out when we pick them up! You just come into the café and give them your name or go back and pick up your pieces and they're ready. We'd like to try the clay sculpting classes next. The instructor said this is very different from wheel throwing and you do not need to have any experience for this as well.

Yelp
PIP Coffee + Clay + Hayley = Pure bliss I've fallen in love with pottery this past year, so I was beyond excited to explore this pottery / coffee shop hybrid in Phoenix. This storefront is absolutely to-die-for. There's a coffee shop in the front and a party in the back.. aka a room filled with pottery wheels. While PIP is known for their caffeinated beverages and baked goods, they also sell pottery supplies, hand crafted pieces, and stationary items. I was really excited to see that they sold the famous Gloop glaze, which goes hand-in-hand with Seth Rogan's artistic style. As for coffee, I ordered the Garden Greens Latte and was also able to sample their chai latte. Both beverages were extraordinary and gone too fast. I wish I bought two. PIP offers pottery classes, with options for beginners and advanced throwers. They also have hand build classes to make unique items like pet bowls, plant pots, and even bongs. Highly recommend checking out their website and starting your pottery journey.

Yelp
Came here for an introduction hand building class to make casserole dishes with my girlfriend. Class started promptly on time and if you get there early it doubles as a cafe. So we got there early and chilled and grabbed a drink. I opted for a seasonal drink called the bumble bee it was a lavender and honey latte. Very good complex flavors. The honey was so good in it and a hint of lavender went a long way. Drink was about $7 and you can take it upstairs to the class while you're building. Our teacher was Danny (hope I'm spelling that right) great teacher. Very non judgmental and encouraging which is what I needed considering I was doing poorly. They let you do what you want and don't interject unless you ask or if you need help. If you're shy to ask for help they do go around and did a great job of checking in. 2 and a half hours to build 1 or 2 objects using clay and then paint. Very easy instructions with a great teacher made for a very fun time.

Yelp
Came here for a beginner wheel class for my friends birthday weekend, the few of us had a great time. The instructors are very nice and made the class fun! We got coffee before the class and the iced latte with vanilla syrup with oat milk was some of the best coffee I've gotten in a while! When the staff heard we were celebrating our friends birthday they offered us a free treat, very thoughtful. Very chill relaxing space in the front, with walls covered in local small business art.

Yelp
The staff here were so sweet. I had a great time in the wheel throwing 1 beginners class. They really told you step by step what to do. One demo first and then they walk you through it as you try yourself. Time flew by!! I ended up making a few pieces and had to toss one to keep two. Loved it! Would come back.
google avatar

Sofia P.

Yelp
Got a matcha latte, and it was great! My friend's drink was also very tasty. I loved the setup of the cafe with the games and knick knacks, even the furniture was really cute. I would love to come back and make some clay art! Also love that they have shaded parking which is hard to come by in the area apparently.

Yelp
10000% recommend this place. We signed up for the pottery class and got there an hour early. Enjoyed some beverages and a couple of board games in the adorable little coffee shop. We also bought a couple of stickers and trinkets. Then we made our way back to the class area which is a big open warehouse type space - had lots of natural light -- loved the vibe! They walk you through the instructions and demonstrate the process. Our instructor was Bennett and he was fantastic! Very informational, funny, engaging and genuine. Had a great date night with my daughter and hope to book more classes with the hubs. Might recreate the scene from Ghost. Who knows?!

Yelp
Great coffee shop with a building behind it for clay making classes. The lavender chai is delicious. I had it made dirty and it was heavenly. The vegan peanut butter cookie is giant and sooooo good. So happy I was told about this gem. Close to my doctors office so tried them out. Great coffee shop!
google avatar

Gisselle G.

Yelp
I had such a great experience in the beginners wheel class I took. It was much harder than I expected but the instructor was a great support during the class. The class time does give you adequate time to get used to the wheel and to make your pieces. You're also able to bring in your food or drinks you've purchased at the front into the studio. Overall it was such a fun time and I'm planning to come back for some more practice!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a wonderful time yesterday doing the beginners class, I plan on actually returning and trying again soon. Avery was a great teacher, and I look forward to possibly pursuing this as a new skill, or at least a fun hobby. Love the coffee drink I got from the coffee shop, staff was incredibly friendly and vibe of the environment was really relaxed and welcoming. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Went with a few friends to celebrate a birthday and this was the perfect activity! Our instructor was Bennett, he made the class so engaging and fun. He was super patient and willing to help! Best part is you get to keep 2 pieces that you make! And there's a coffee + wine shop right next door where you can grab a quick drink before or after your class.

Yelp
Great lattes and natural wines (not quite sure what that means, but seems cool haha). I've taken some fun art workshops here - pottery, clay jewelry, and pet portrait painting! I love this unique business concept, and the class instructors have all been wonderful. I think they serve Bagelfelds bagels here too, which are the best bagels in town! This place does seem to struggle with disorganization in class scheduling, pottery pickup, and cafe service. I've had a number of small issues here, but if you can look past their imperfections, it's really an awesome place! I do wish they had a changing table in their bathroom - there was no place to change my baby's diaper :/

Yelp
This place is super cute and fun. My friend and I decided to sign up for one of their ceramics class and we both enjoyed it. Booking online was easy and fast. The day of the class finally came and we arrived right when it was about to start. It was a full class and there were about 14 or so of us? All the seats and wheels were taken. The instructor was very friendly and helpful. Me and ceramics have never gotten along and for some reason I can't comprehend how I am supposed to make something out of wet clay and this spinning wheel... nonetheless I was struggling. I asked for help and she quickly came over and got me back on track without making me feel dumb. She showed me how to and I was finally able to make a bowl. We picked up our pieces about a month after our class date and I was very happy on how they turned out. The colors that I chose are sooooo pretty! Pickup day, we bought ourselves some coffee and they were really good. Service was great. Parking can be a struggle so we parked at the building in front and walked a little. You get to keep two pieces from your session! Can't wait to book another class soon!

Yelp
Such a fun and cool place! I asked for a pottery class for Christmas, and my fiancé and I had the best time at PIP! Danny was our instructor and he did a phenomenal job with the time allocated for the cl (2.5 hours). Danny's demo was very informative and helpful, and he was more than happy to answer questions throughout to class or assist when you got stuck. I had such a great time!

Yelp
Makes for a fun couple of hours if you're looking for an activity to do on date night or looking to give a gift certificate to someone. My husband and I did their 1:30 class with Rachel and it was a fun time. We tried something new and made two items each. They take three weeks to get ready and then you have some new bowls or cups at home! My only piece of feedback is that there was more options for glaze colors. Otherwise, everything was great. The cafe up front is pretty convenient. We had the pumpkin pop tart and it was good!
google avatar

Yasmin T.

Yelp
Decided to do a beginner wheel throwing class with my girls for my birthday and it did not disappoint. Our instructor Bennett was super helpful and so nice! Our pieces turned out really cute and the drinks were great! Highly recommend doing this with your friends it was such a fun experience :)
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
My review is solely on their pottery class. As someone with no knowledge of how to do pottery, the instructors certainly taught me well. By the end of the class I had two pretty cute creations (one of them became my little guac bowl). This place is fun for any sort of occasion. I know the cafe is probably just as good. Just be sure to wear clothing you are okay with getting dirty because as you'll see in my photos...things got very messy quickly.
google avatar

Shelby F.

Yelp
A friend and I did a beginners wheel throwing class and I cannot recommend it enough!! We had such an amazing time and Bennett was such a fantastic instructor! So helpful and delightful. I was so stoked with the way our pieces came out. It's such a cute place and a fun idea! The chai latte was great as well! I'll definitely be back for more coffee and classes.

Yelp
The drinks are incredible, the pastries are even better, and the beginner pottery wheel class left my mom and I with wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. The parking is bad, but the street parking nearby is perfectly acceptable. The staff is incredibly friendly and seem to know their regulars. I wish they would put some salt on their pretzels and bring back their Ube matcha latte! The first time I had the matcha Ube latte, I told everyone I knew that it was the most delicious drink I had ever had at any coffee shop. The drinks are all served in adorable hand made mugs, which adds to the charm. The baristas seem to default to cold drinks to go, so be sure to specify if you want a hot drink in a cute mug! I love this spot and will be back many times in the future.

Dan R.

Yelp
Went there last week, just really bad experience. Some of the people that work there really need to learn how to treat people
google avatar

Yelp
Service: the barista was really nice Drink: I ordered the rose pistachio latte and it was amazing!!! Ambiance: cute coffee shop with all their pottery and local items for sale Parking: good amount and covered I want to come back for a pottery class soon!

Megan H.

Yelp
Wheel throwing classes are so fun. Instructor is really talented and helpful. Everyone there is so nice. Can't wait for another class!
google avatar

Yelp
I like this spot! This is a cozy little coffee shop/ceramic studio located on 24th street. There's some parking is available in the private lot next to the shop. You can find some window and table seating indoors, and there's plenty of natural sunlight that comes through the windows. There's also free wifi and bathrooms available if you want to stay and get some work done. There are also a variety of goods for sale (ceramics and non-ceramics) that are available on the shelves and at the checkout counter, which is nice if you like to support local artists. I got a matcha oat latte with honey, and it came out very quickly. I liked my drink! The matcha flavor was strong, smooth, and not too bitter. If I happen to be in the area, I'd love to stop by again and try some of their other drinks (and maybe take a ceramics class!).
google avatar

Luciana V.

Yelp
My friend gifted me a clay molding class for my birthday and I had a blast. The instructor was super pleasant and chill, you can just tell that she enjoys teaching others. I am excited to pick up the pieces that I made in a couple of weeks. I enjoyed an iced matcha while I was there which was pretty good. I'm looking forward to returning to hang out in the coffee area to put my head down and get some work done. The seating arrangements could be a bit cozier.

Skylar J.

Yelp
I would never return to this place for numerous reasons. Consider yourself warned..........
google avatar

Ali B.

Yelp
A little hard to find cause gps is misleading, and the parking lot is a crammed nightmare, but worth it!! I really want to take a class here but haven't signed up for one yet and just wanted to see the place so I stopped in for a matcha! I got a strawberry rose matcha with almond milk. So many things on the menu looked amazing it was super hard to choose. The matcha with marshmallow and ube whipped cream looked amazing too, I'll have to try that next time. My drink was ready fast! I loved walking around the little shop too and seeing all The ceramic stuff. Saw they have a paint a picture of your pet class coming up soon, I totally want to do one here sometime!
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
Love it! Drinks, treats, clay art, they even played a Cure song and a Smiths song. Loves!

J P.

Yelp
My friend group decided to do a beginner class since some were not familiar with how to work with clay. We had a blast during the class and our instructor was so kind! She was patient and uplifting. The plate had a great vibe and great people. The reason I gave only three stars was all 3 of us didn't get our pieces that we had worked on during the class. We were each given a sticker that stated "drinks on us something happened". I personally was given something that was no were similar to the items made. My friend only received 1 item in her bag home. ( we were bummed) Pictured are the items I made (grey bowl and light grey plate) Also pictured items received from pip ( green )

Yelp
Went to PIP Coffee + Clay for a weekend date recently! It was such a blast. To start, the main coffee area has tons of cute shop items, ceramic projects and trinkets for sale. Seating is relatively limited and did fill up fast, but they have tables and chairs throughout the space. As you progress through the building your led to the clay or pottery wheel room where they have about 20 or so wheels available. My husband and I signed up for the beginners pottery wheel class. They had our names written out to mark our spots and the instructor was absolutely amazing and so helpful. Pottery wheels are no joke! You're able to make as many projects as you want but are only allowed to keep or fire two. From there you pick you paint colors and pick up in about a week or two. The whole experience was awesome. In addition to coffee, you're also able to get light snacks or sandwiches from their menu along with beer or spritzer cocktails you can enjoy during the class! The offer many other classes for all levels, so it's work exploring if you're interested or already have a base to work with. Definitely will visit again!
google avatar

Liliana A.

Yelp
I love the concept of this place! It's a coffee shop and connected to it, is their pottery room. They have classes for everyone, you just need signup using their link in their IG or maybe even find it online through a Google search. Makes for a fun date night and even for cute lil hang for coffee and food.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
I've been here 3 times, and everything I've gotten is excellent. Great coffee; I've gotten oat milk lattes and an Americano. Maybe the smoothest Americano I've had; I didn't even end up adding anything and just drank it straight. They also have some great bagel options from Bagelfelds. I enjoyed the Onion Overlord -- which exactly how it sounds. (Tip: have a toothbrush ready.) And today was the Urmami, whipped honey butter on an asiago bagel. Service has also been friendly. Parking is tight so be careful (especially if a pottery class is meeting) and be patient.

Yelp
I'm a super happy customer of PIP's cafe side! Very cute cafe with delicious drinks and a celebration of local arts. I first came with a friend during PIP's one year anniversary event and got a Seth Rohan (matcha with coconut water, lime, and pineapple). I fell in love at first sip! I eventually came back to study here and ordered the New Horizons matcha latte (a peach matcha latte that came in the Animal Crossing Lloid mug - so cute!). The ambiance here feels like the cute, bright, artsy cafe vibe; and in between study breaks, you can admire all of the crafts (mugs, jewelry, plates, planters, + more) sold in the store that were created by local artisans. This is definitely a spot to keep on your list. Can't wait to try out some throwing classes and other crafting workshops next!
google avatar

Haley H.

Yelp
Had the best time taking a class with my mom! It was so fun and we got two of our creations to take home. Atmosphere was great, there was music, and the other people taking the class were upbeat. Got a tea before class but couldn't really drink it with hands full of clay

Alesther A.

Yelp
Love it at PIP! Took a mugs and hugs class and really could be super creative! Instructor was very friendly and helpful!
google avatar

Julianah A.

Yelp
My friends and I did the "round boys" class and it was wonderful! Danny the instructor was so helpful and sweet. The environment, pricing, and taste of the coffee/food was all great as well :) highly recommend! Will definitely come back
google avatar

Mary T.

Yelp
My friend and I came for the Build your pet workshop. It was a 3 hour class and I definitely felt like it flew by. I didn't think it would take me 3 hours to mold clay but I realized how much of a beginner I was real quick! Zane was our instructor and he was great. The vibe of the class is really chill and relaxed. You are able to grab food and drinks downstairs as you please. I made a dog bowl and was able to paint it afterwards. Excited to pick up my project in a week or so! Would definitely come and try the other classes!

J P.

Yelp
You pay for a beginner's class while in town with family and the instructor gives no help to those whom struggle. Only gives extra attention to those who are extremely experienced. Complete waste of money and the coffee barista barely mumbles 2 words. Made to feel like a failure. Wasn't worth the time and came away with absolutely no creations.
google avatar

Genesis S.

Yelp
My friend and I had the pleasure of taking a beginners pottery class here. It was both her and I's first time ever playing with clay. We had a great time. The instructor was very helpful. Whenever we made a mistake he was patient with us and ready to help. We got to make two works of art that we can pick up in 3 weeks. As for the coffee shop, we loved it as well! I got the Bumblebee Latte which had hints of lavender- it was delicious! Although the coffee shop is small and parking spots are limited, I do see myself coming back with more friends to hangout and enjoy their selection of drinks.
google avatar

Maegan A.

Yelp
Loved loved loved the 6pm pottery class! I couldn't recommend this class enough. It's a great price for the value you get out of it. The staff are hilarious and really friendly. Highly recommend Clinton as your instructor. He's the modern day pottery fairy godmother.. making all your dreams come true. I can't wait to book my next class- new hobby secured!!
google avatar

Alyse H.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time at Pip. No one in our party had ever thrown pottery before, so we were nervous if we'd be any good. The two instructors were amazing in their explanations and hands on help when we needed it. They also have a cafe so you can enjoy a coffee or alcoholic beverage during your pottery session. I made two pieces and chose one to be glazed white and the other light blue. You can pick up your finished pieces three weeks after your class. It was a fun and unique experience that got me so much more interested in learning more about wheel throwing.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I have taken two classes here, one was wheel throwing and the other one was sculpting. The instructors were very helpful and pleasant. Great place to start a new hobby. The environment is very trendy and artistic which helps spark a great ambiance and creativity. The coffee was absolutely delicious and high quality. I would recommend this to anyone beginning or advanced.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
I signed up for a class to make a trio of mini pumpkins. The instructor was very nice and helpful. During the session, I made my three pumpkins and painted them. I left them to dry and then be fired/glazed. The only downside was I received an email saying my pumpkin was ready to be picked up and it wasn't. So I had to make another trip back to pick up my finished pieces. They turned out nice and I'd do another class. The coffee shop is nice - open and airy with plenty of seating and gifts to purchase. I ordered a spicy/cayenne pumpkin pie latte (see a theme?) and enjoyed it. I would definitely come back if in the area for another latte. Overall, a fun place with a chill atmosphere.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Took a pottery throwing class here. It was a great experience! Good thing to do with friends.
google avatar

Shelby S.

Yelp
firstly- I love that they are open late. It's sometimes hard to find good coffee past 2pm, so this is convenient! secondly- there's parking out front; anytime I don't have to street park going to a new place is a good day! I ordered just the mocha and it was great. Good coffee- not too bitter. They also have food items, pastries, and breakfast type foods. The inside is eclectic, and attached to the pottery studio. There is some merchandise for sale towards the back of the shop as well. Neat concept, and I'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
PIP is a really cute place to have coffee and hang out. The drinks are good and the staff are super nice. I signed up for the beginner ceramic class, I've never taken ceramics before or made anything before so I was excited to try something new! Our instructor was great! She went over everything very thoroughly and helped a lot of us in the class when we were struggling to center on the wheel. She helped me so I was able to make two pieces before class was over. I was so excited to see what my pieces would look like after they were glazed and fired. So I was pretty disappointed when I saw the finished product. The bottom portion of my pieces weren't glazed and are pretty rough feeling and kind of sharp. My friend made this bowl and it barely even has color on it. I'm not sure if there was a reason they were done this way but it would be nice to know before hand what to expect our pieces to look like in the end. I don't know a lot of pottery places in Phoenix and PIP is cool place, I'm just not sure if I would sign up for another class.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to go in the neighborhood. The food is shockingly good . The baristas are friendly and engaging. My favorite part is that PIP allows you to drink out of the pottery they make on site. This is so important for supporting their coffee/clay artistry as well as reducing plastic waste! My go to drink here is the espresso tonic - you got to try it if you want something simple and bubbly.
google avatar

Julianna L.

Yelp
I finally healed from my broken ankle and this is my new spot! I've studied here three times and each time I was able to concentrate on my homework. My favorite drink is the Snickerdoodle Mocha with an extra shot of espresso with oatmilk. The drink is tasty, creamy and gets you fueled for the day! I love the vibes here and all the cute items you can purchase! They also host pottery classes which I will be attending soon!
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
I first came to PIP for the coffee, and started throwing with a beginner class in June. I now come in quite often. Everyone on staff is kind, helpful, and welcoming. The baristas are amazing and know how I like my coffee, which makes me feel at home here. So far, I've tried every sandwich except for the grilled cheese, and The Hot Pants is 10/10 crave-worthy. When I'm at PIP, I feel like I'm part of a larger community, and I had no idea how much I needed some clay in my life.

Yelp
A fun little coffee shop in uptown area. Me and my furnace went for a beginners pottery class and what a dope experience !once entering you can see various pottery and painting pieces around so you know you're definitely in the right place. I tried a roasted camp fire coffee definitely a 10/10. The flavor was on point, not too sweet, just how I like it. You walk through the small door thinking it's leading you to the bathroom but instead there is a whole pottery station back there-- very impressive. The instructor was great, very patient with all of us (especially myself). She went through a quick tutorial of how you want to start, mold and finish and then allowed us to try for ourselves. She was very attentive and walked around the room as needed, she jumped in if our project was falling apart or if we needed guidance. At the end, we chose two and put them aside for pick up at a later date. Definitely a very fun, hands on friend outing... would recommend everyone try it at least once!

Love this coffee house, very cute and fun. They have coffee, teas and such but they also do pottery classes. I went in for the pottery class, it was so much fun and I even bought my own pottery wheel after. Sadly, they are so amazing that they don't have many open reservations but if you can find one, DO IT! perfect for a friend date or an actual date.
