After 30 Years, Albona Ristorante Istriano Is Closing in North Beach - Eater SF

"Downtown Berkeley cafe Piq, known for its large patio and Italian baked goods, closed abruptly over Thanksgiving. Plans are in place for a new Italian cafe, Passione Caffe, to open soon at the same location." - Janelle Bitker

Good selection of pastries and baked goods. They have a section upstairs with seating. Lots of students camp out here with their laptops. Coffee is a tad better than Starbucks

Best appetizer ever. The original taste of prosciutto with cheese in a just baked bread. They have a terrace outside and two levels. Nice place to have lunch and coffee!

Delicious bakery and coffee. Nice and charming serving. Recomend... the music could be more appropriate instead of the regular pop radio...

Overall a very nice place. The ham and cheese croissant that I ate was very tasty, so good that I forgot all about the price which seemed high at first. They have seats on the main floor, an upstairs area as well as outdoor seating. Good mix of young and old people here. Lots of pastries and drinks but the main food selection is a bit limited. They do have a pasta of the day.

Newly expanded, menu selection simple and very well done. Staff helpful. The upstairs had many people on laptops while downstairs was more conversation. The breads and rolls outstanding. I had sandwich with heirloom tomatoes and provolone and it was excellent. Good place for a simple but satisfying lunch.

Had the vanilla orange organic tea. It is a wonderful blend. Also great if you like to add soy milk to your tea. Can't beat the price either, with free resteep if desired. Pastries are great as well. Didn't try the food. Selection looked good but a little pricey. Overall great place, great customer service, and plenty of tables. Please tap the thumbs up icon below if this review helped thank you.

The best bakery I found in the US so far. I had a vegan sandwich, which was extremely good, mostly because of the (spinach) bread. The baker was so nice he even gave me a huge piece of delicious sour dough bread to take home! I highly recommend this place, it just became my favorite European spot!

Best Italian style pizza around. It's not cheap, however, though it is in-line with other restaurants in the area. Their coffee is also fantastic - we use their beans in my office, and those are actually cheaper than the major name brand competitors nearby.
