The 20 Best Restaurants In San Juan, Puerto Rico - San Juan - The Infatuation

"Pirilo’s in Old San Juan is easy to miss—its tiny entrance leads to a narrow flight of stairs that takes you to an exposed brick, industrial-looking place. Order a classic pie, like their margherita or the Pirilo, which has tomato sauce, mozzarella, ground beef, and ripe sweet plantains, as well as the croquetas de mamposteao or the garlic knots. Add a Genoveva sangria and you’ve got a classic, albeit a bit unexpected, San Juan experience." - adriana silva, tiffany yannetta, mariana trabanino

This was my favorite restaurant we stumbled on while visiting Puerto Rico! Some of the best food, we couldn’t stop talking about it and went back a second night. The chicharrones de yuca was everyone’s favorite, I wish they had options for a larger portion! The pizza was great and the capuchino was delicious. Vegetarian friendly as well! The atmosphere inside and outside were beautiful, the food just made it even better. I’m so happy we found this place on accident, I will definitely make sure to return on the next visit!

From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere transported us it felt warm, traditional, and nostalgic, just like being at my grandparents' house. Every detail, from the decor to the background music, added to the cozy, homey vibe. The service was outstanding, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The staff greeted us with smiles and offered spot-on recommendations that made our meal even better. We tried several pizzas, and each one was delicious perfectly baked with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Love the 7 cheese pizza. It's clear they put a lot of care into everything they do. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Time travel to the beginning of the 20th Century! Food is great! Servers are super friendly!! There is a terrace area in the back which is breezy and welcoming. Along with 2 live muscians singing melodic danceable tunes.

Good, but not my first choice if very hungry or in a hurry. I would normally give this place an excellent review. As a Dorado-born local, my family comes here often, and we regularly recommend it to friends and business partners. The food is usually excellent. That said, I’ve had a few recent experiences that were frustrating. If you place an order by phone, you’re not allowed to dine in, even if you’re willing to wait for a table. The purpose of calling ahead is to help expedite service, so this policy can be inconvenient, especially when you’re short on time. I wish there were more flexibility in considering different customer needs. On my most recent visit, the to-go order was missing utensils, which added to the frustration. It sometimes feels like there’s no ideal option; whether dining in or taking food to go. Overall, the food quality remains strong, but customer service could be improved. Small accommodations shouldn’t feel like unreasonable requests, and a bit more flexibility would go a long way.

Great rustic pizza with a boricua flair. So delicious. My husband got the churrasco and it was amazing. Highly recommended it you wnat to switch up the traditional food while on your trip. Great for families but also a nice bar area. Also recommend the 4 leches!

Great atmosphere and decor. Very rustic. This place is definitely bigger than their other store at Old San Juan. You can even get a peek of ocean from from the small deck located at the back were the restrooms are. We arrived at lunch time, just after opening so we had the full attention from the friendly staff. We were a large group of 20+. Food was great, just like in Old San Juan. Very consistent quality, everything was tasty with excellent presentation.
