BANKS' Favorite Seattle Restaurants & Bars - Seattle - The Infatuation

"I’m from LA, and anytime I’m sick, I get chicken and rice soup or matzoh ball soup. And they don’t really have delis in Seattle [like LA’s.] Piroshky is a Russian place that has the best matzoh ball soup, the best borscht, and the best meatball and rice soup. It feels a little bit like home." - aimee rizzo

Piroshky Bakery - Review - Bellevue - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Not to be confused with Piroshky Piroshky at Pike Place, this Crossroads food court spot in Bellevue also specializes in Russian stuffed pastries. You can also expect pelmeni, as well as various soups in varieties like matzo ball, meatball and rice, and borscht. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Piroshki offered a delightful taste of Russia with their flavorful dishes. We started with appetizers of pie meat , and for main dish we had pelmeni and manti served with a curry sauce – both were well-seasoned and enjoyable. The meat pie i personally didn’t like as much but the pilimeni and the manti with curry I love it and .Piroshki is worth a visit for a taste of authentic Russian cuisine

Google
This is one of my absolute favorite places to get food. There isn't a single thing on their menu that I don't love. I hope they open up more locations across the US!

Google
I had the stuffed cabbage, chicken noodle soup they were marvelous. I loved how the soup tasted. I get sick of mine. The stuffed cabbage was yummy and good portions. I ordered borscht which I’ll try tomorrow. I like putting prime rib in mine but love vegan style too.

🕵️‍♂️ Nothing feels better than stumbling upon a hidden treasure. Especially where you least expect it. And the place I least expect to find a hidden food gem is, honestly, a food court. Tucked away in a strange, “back-alley-esque” portion of the mall, obscured on all sides by a plethora of Asian inspired kitchens, sits a quaint little bakery with actual babushkas (well, they’re Estonian, so properly “vanaemas”) rolling out the dough, filling the pelmeni and peroshki and vigorously chatting away. The vibe is immaculate. And the food is *chefs kiss* The highlight food-wise, is in the perfect crispiness of their piroshki and desserts.

A small portion of iconic Piroshky Piroshky at Seattle's Pier Place Market at Bellevue Crossroads. Our favorites are Spinach & Cheese Piroshky , Curry chicken Piroshky. We also tried their minced meat Chicken Kabab which comes with roasted potatoes and side salad

Google
Randomly decided to grab some lunch here and was pleasantly surprised. Very good cabbage rolls, and the staff is super nice.

Google
Best Russian dumplings, (the traditional chicken is so comforting and tasty), plus the fresh Piroshky's are to die for! Been coming to Crossroads for 30+ years and Piroshky Bakery has withstand the test of time and flavor. So many other restaurants but it's always a beeline to Piroshky Bakery, its just too good!!

Google
They are amazing! The food is fresh and delicious. Please open more locations!

Yelp
This is an Estonian European bakery and restaurant that we accidentally stumbled upon while shopping at the Crossroads in Bellevue. Hidden gem really applies here. Not only are the people so sweet, you can watch them operate and create heavenly wonders. I literally fell in love with the Pelmeni dumplings. 24 for like $16. I had mine prepared Siberian style but you could also have them traditional or Russian. The fresh made piroshkys are unbelievably tasty. Addicting. Pro Tip: Do yourself a favour and order the White Chocolate Cherry Piroshky. Now there's heaven. ALSO, if you're having your meal here, expose yourself to all the soups you can! Reeeeeeemarkable! 06/24

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised at the great menu selection, with not just piroshkies but also soups and dumplings. I wanted to try the daily special, which states "match any soup with a piroshky for $13.49". I clearly specified I wanted the daily special with the pelmeni soup and beef & onion piroshky. After receiving my receipt, I see that these were charged separately. When I clarify with the staff, she states that soup isn't valid for the special. I ask if I can change my order, but she said no because the order has already been placed. It is pretty frustrating having misinformation printed on the menu and no clarity when ordering and makes for an unpleasant dining experience.

Yelp
I love their bef and cheddar piroshky! It is so tasty! Easier to get my fill at this location than the one at Pike's! They are my favorite!

Yelp
The stuffed cabbage meal with a coleslaw and half potato is outstanding! The stuffed cabbage is tender and meaty with a nice light tomato sauce. Unlike many other coleslaws with a mayonnaise base, this one is light with just the right amount of tang. The bakery is in the food court of the Crossroads Shopping Center. As such, the ambiance is casual. I love the meals it also offers. Service has always been good as are its choices of entree choices and piroshkis. I like their option of a choice of a soup and a piroshky for a reasonable price. I'll be back.

Yelp
I ordered a Smoked Salmon Piroshky to go-it was really good! I just wish it had more of the amazing filling that was on the inside. This review is short and sweet, but I enjoyed fast service and great flavor. I would definitely come back for more!
google avatar

Yelp
TL;DR: carb heavy. Located in the Crossroads mall food court. Parking: shared mall parking lot. Atmosphere: mall food court. Menu: posted on the wall. Pastry names are posted next to the pastries in the pastry case. Seat yourself if the food court if you wish. Service: order and pay at the register, your order will be handed to you. Smoked Salmon cream cheese: I guess I wasn't sure what to expect but I was expecting smoked salmon bits inside the pastry instead of a salmon paste mixed with cream cheese and some dill. The filling to pastry ratio wasn't really well balanced and was heavier on the bread side. For the price I think there should be more and better quality filling. I also wasn't impressed with the temperature of the pastry, it was lukewarm--which I didn't like since the filling was essentially salmon goop. I would have much preferred it to be hot, but that wasn't presented to me as an option. The pastry shape is fun though.

Yelp
The first time, I think mistakes happen, so I won't leave a review. But if this happens regularly, I will say that you need to be more attentive. I place an order online, and when I come to pick up the ready order, you are only just starting to prepare it. Why don't you start making it right away and keep track of the orders? Why do I have to waste 20-30 minutes every time because of your lack of attention?
google avatar

Yelp
This resturant is so delicious, and staff are so kind I regularly come and get the curry style pelmeni dumplings. Such a peaceful and calm environment Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
Chicken pelmeni soup. Service was perfectly executed in a mall food court environment. At the counter, quick and efficient in sending the order back and timely on the cook. This is a great mall, if one can still be great. Perfectly cooked dumpling and clearly homemade broth. Pelmeni's are a simple food so there's no hiding if it isn't perfect. No hiding needed as these were outstandingly well done. The dough was worked perfectly and was just the right amount of done. My wife and I shared the dish as it was too much for just one person. Be props and bigger recommendations! Next time I'm here for the baked goods!
google avatar

Elisha J.

Yelp
Pelmeni Soup, seriously delicious, it's like a better version of chicken noodle soup. Fresh dill and fresh green onion on top, a dollop of sour cream, and completely enough soup to share with another person. The pelmenis were stuffed with chicken, and the dough is chewy and perfect. I am just sad I did not have enough space for the meat pies. This place is such an amazing gem in the middle of a mall. Great service, quiet even though it's a mall, definitely a place to remember.

Yelp
Slavic food is always my comfort food. Every time when I see one nearby I will just grab a Piroshky. We randomly went to crossroad mall and found this gem. My fiancé and I ran to this place and super excited about the pel meni. My fiancé grew up eating borscht and Pel meni. Compared to other restaurants nearby they have quit a line that's how you know they are good!! My fiancé got pel meni and I got Pierogi (potato). Must eat with sour cream! And you will come back for more! We think we are addicted to this place! The borscht was okay for me and my fiancé thinks it's good but prefer what his mom makes more. So it doesn't really taste like home for him. I personally love the Piroshki from prioshki from Madison more. They have more fillings and seasoning. However I like it here because the bread is thinner instead of a big dough. Overall we gave it 5 out of 5 because it's just THAT GOOD!

Yelp
Piroshky, parakeet, la roche posay, fur coat please, pair of skis, lakers in 4. Swept in 4 stars by the nuggets, that is.

Yelp
When it comes to authentic plus modern takes on Russian food in a food court style setting this is the top contender. I could literally have no interest in eating piroshki that day, but when the smell hits you... you can't resist. Compared to the piroshki and crepes in Everett and the piroshki piroshki in Seattle the fillings here are much better and better seasoned in general. I love the options and the sweet options. They also have tainted pelmeni dumplings and vegetarian ones, borscht and other soups. They now offer exciting flavors with their pelmeni including buffalo style. So far, it's always been a hit for me here and never a miss. I think the customer service could be more Americanized, but if anything it adds to the style lol

Yelp
Loved this place. All. The. Piroshkies. are. GOOD! We went there twice on our Seattle trip. It's even better because no line, compared to the one next to the famous original Starbucks. We tried ham & cheese, chicken mushroom, Chicken Peirogi curry - Husband would have preferred the cheese peirogi, but i liked these a lot too.

Yelp
I forgot to take a photo of my food cause I ate it too fast. I got the daily special of a Piroshky and soup so I picked the beef and cabbage plus the matzo ball soup. They were both delicious on a cold fall day. Everything was delicious and huge portions. It's also surrounded by a bunch of diverse other food options. The area is great. I'll be going back for sure!

Yelp
It's all about the Salmon pate. You have to stop by. Even if your full get it go for later!
google avatar

Yelp
Had the Pelmeni chicken dumplings. Tasty! Sort of like a Ukrainian spin on the soup dumplings you'd find at Din Tai Fung. Came with a salad with a tasty honey mustard dressing. A reasonable option at the Crossroads Food Court!

Yelp
Been here for many years and have never disappointed us! It's such a a wholesome place and I wish the owner good health

Yelp
Was cold and I've had this place on my list for ages, the crossroads was basically empty and no one was at Piroshky, got my order in and everything came out nice and toasty. I got the loaded Pierogies and they also come with a salad and a side of sour cream. I waited like 7-10 minutes and I was out the door. The place where Piroshky is, is essentially a food court connected to a grocery store. It was dead quiet, only a few people around and the guy that helped me was kind to give me time to look at the menu, as I didn't have my glasses and I'm blind. The salmon Piroshky was bomb there's onions that are cut so small they melt in your mouth and the salmon was so moist and perfect but it didn't effect the pastry at all, it wasn't soggy. The pierogies were great, but what isn't to like about dumplings, mashed potatoes, cheese, onions, and bacon?! On a cold day, this was a phenomenal treat. Also not pictured but I got the Bavarian Piroshky too and it was super flaky and buttery and the sausage was very good, not snappy tho, but nice and savory. I wish I had gotten something sweet! But that's for my next visit. So I definitely recommend to come here instead of waiting ages and ages at Piroshky Piroshky Downtown in Seattle, like there was no wait and the people are nice. Also Slavic food just hits the spot when it's cold out, it kept me fueled and warm. 8.5/10 for the Bavarian Sausage Piroshky, 9/10 for the Salmon Piroshky and 7.5 for the pierogies.. just a tad bland for my taste but I'm used to a ton of spices. Overall this place is... a solid 8.5/10 will visit here again :)

Yelp
Wow! I've lived here almost my whole life and never had anything from Piroshky Piroshky! Glad we stopped I for a quick snack. Grabbed the smoked salmon pate and it was perfect, warm, soft bread, slightly sweet, lots of filling that wasn't overpowering. Can easily see why this item sells out! Service was great. Excited to try other items.
google avatar

Yelp
Where I come from these are called beerocks. Usually a bit of minced cabbage in there with the beef. To be honest, the ones that the church sells locally for fundraisers are better. The puff pastry they are using is obviously commercially made. I guess I don't blame them, most places don't make their own but if they did and used real butter instead of the crap commercial manufacturers use it would put this place in a whole different category. Overall uninspired, this just proves the 3 golden rules in business. Location, location, location. Still glad I went, it's iconic at this point.

Yelp
Piroshky Piroshky In the Crossroads Mall food court, came here mainly for one thing, Salmon Pate Bake. Ended up calling them about 3 hours prior to picking g up and they were more than willing to bake special for me and save because I was flying out back to Phoenix several hours later. I ordered 10 Salmon Pate Bake and 10 beef and Cheese to go and Tamura had the order ready and actually called me to verify the order. I packed them up into my cooler and stuffed them in my check in luggage which made weight at 48.5 pounds and have a great snack for later. Was very fortunate to get these gems and the family loved them.

Yelp
I'm from Russia and have tried every single place that sells pirozhki that shows up on Yelp in the Greater Seattle Area. For the authentic taste and textures, this one is my favorite. I tried most of their savory offerings and have been pleased with everything I've eaten. I haven't tried their sweet stuff (not a huge fan of sweet pirozhki) but it looks very legit. Everything I've eaten here reminds me of the delicacies that my Ukrainian grandmother would bake - absolutely delicious and also the reason why I was a chubby preteen! The people who work here are friendly and welcoming. You can tell that they are hard workers. The stall is located inside an international food court in a mall. It's a strange place to visit if you're not used to the suburban lifestyle. I was in a bit of a shock when I came in, but actually had a great time - browse around and you'll find more cool businesses. My favorite Eastern European grocery store is just on the other side of the mall (it's called European Grocery). If you've never been here before, it takes a while to find the stall - it's on the northwest side of the mall.

Yelp
We tried the Chicken curry piroshky and the potato mushroom piroshky and both were good. Chicken curry puri was really filling and I am so surprised that I haven't been to a Piroshky place before. This was my first ever try at Russian food. These Piroshkies are very similar to the puff pastry we get in an Indian bakery. I look forward to trying more of their other items on the menu. The owner was really nice and was preparing everything from scratch. I got the last of the chicken curry Piroshkies and it would have taken him 20-25 mins to make another one. This just tells me that everything they sell is freshly made.i am going to try their minced meat chicken kabob next time!
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
My husband and I come here often. We came here once with my Russian father in law and he ordered the pelmeni soup. I tried some of it and have gotten it frequently ever since. It's such a simple but tasty comfort food and seems rare to find. I also love their beef/potato/cheese piroshky. As others have mentioned, the soup is a large portion so we always share a pelmeni soup and share a piroshky and it's the perfect amount. Service is always kind and their other dishes are great as well!
google avatar

Thomas Z.

Yelp
Ordered Mama's cabbage rolls. Um it was good. Not my style of food but wanted to try it. The lady here has been cooking for 30 years and will be a good fit for anyone that wants Russian or Siberian food. It does taste and look very "small village in Russia" but it's not for everyone.
google avatar

Chris E.

Yelp
I can't believe I don't have a review out for this. I've been eating piroshky and variants since I was a young child - absolutely love 'em. The offerings here are great and I also enjoy their main dishes - the stuffed cabbage in particular. It's outstanding, though I normally eat two portions when really hungry.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
Delicious. Delicious. Comrades if you're in the area definitely stop in and you won't be disappointed. The piroshkis are all delicious. If you're looking for something more hearty go for the beef and onion or beef and cheese. Pro tip: ask for sour cream The borscht is mellow and a fantastic compliment to the heavier piroshkis. For a perfect balanced meal have the pelmeni soup. It takes 8-10 min but totally worth it. Broth is light a spiked with fresh dill. The pelmeni (dumplings) are cooked perfectly. Again ask for sour cream to give it just a little richness. Looming forward to popping in in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
What in the world took me so long to try a piroshky? Having strolled by the iconic place in Pike Place Market a few times, Piroshky Piroshky was always in the back of my mind of places to try. In Crossroads mall, it sits near a quiet spot. We tried Chicken Curry and Potato mushroom piroshky. They only had 1 chicken curry piroshky left which probably means it's one of the customer favorites. Both piroshkys were really great tasting and you could tell they were freshly made. A couple of piroshkys are certainly filling. If thinking about Russian/Ukrainian food conjures up images of bland potatoes, cabbages and harsh winters, then you need a visit here to shatter it. No matter which side of the current conflict you are on, owners of this particular branch are hardworking people who would appreciate your business.
google avatar

Smaly K.

Yelp
I decided to give the place another try. My first experience wasn't the greatest, but things can happen, and wanted to give a second chance, since their pastries are pretty good. The fillings are flavorful, and the bread has a nice and soft texture. Service is friendly. There are definitely other flavors that I'll have to come back to try.

Yelp
Cute, fragrant, little Russian pastry store offering an impressive amount and variety of baked goods, soups, and warm dishes for such a small space. Located within the interesting, multi-ethnic food court of the Crossroads Bellevue Shopping Center. Smoked salmon pate piroshky: Taste: 4 - flavorful filling that is complemented by the pastry. Order again? Yes. Excellent filling to pastry ratio; delicious flavor of the smoked pate. Also, cute fish shape! Curry chicken mushroom rice piroshky: Taste: 2.5/5 - very middling. Can't taste the filling, but at least the pastry is flaky, and the rice has nice texture. Order again? No. May satiate the hunger, but won't satisfy the tastebuds. Beefy potato and cheddar cheese piroshky: Taste: 2/5 - dismayed by the combo of the sweet bread and the salty, yet bland filling. Order again: No. Sorry to say that I didn't want to take another bite. Overall: Solid 2.5/5; good bang for the buck, but smells nicer than it tastes. Would only come if I needed a quick to-go meal that stays warm for a few hours.
google avatar

Trav H.

Yelp
I thought the beef and cabbage one would be my favorite but to my surprise, and I don't even like spinach, the spinach one is definitely my fav! It would be really cool if they made like little mini bites of each type for a dollar each so I could try like 10 of em before deciding which I really liked and wanted big ones of... or I could just grab a bunch of mini bites! One can dream.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Delicious Piroshkies! I've tried a few savory ones: spinach, beef and onion, and potato mushroom. It's not just the filling that's different, they each have a unique dough resulting in flaky think pastry for spinach piroshki for example to thick bun for potato and mushroom. It's delightful to get a few varieties and explore each. I'd say these are better than the ones in like pike place and you don't need to stand in a long line! Do give it a try next time you are near by. It's a great takeout option.
google avatar

Smrithi S.

Yelp
I love Piroshky, and love all the different Piroshky's I have in Pike Place and was expecting the same when I decided to have one here. We stopped late morning and they were out of a lot of the options. I picked a ham & cheese out of the available options. It wasn't as fresh as the ones I am used to, which was disappointing. I am only going to get Piroshky's in Pike place.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious Russian pastries and food. I really liked the beef and cheese pastry. I got it freshly baked from the oven. The Apple pastry was kind of bland but it was ok. I highly recommend this place
google avatar

Sandy D.

Yelp
I've ordered from here every now and then for 5+ years. I'm no expert on the authenticity but the food I've gotten has always been delicious! My go-to items are the cabbage rolls and split pea soup. The split pea soup I got today was a little watery compared to usual, hopefully it was just a one off, though it tasted fine. Five stars to include all the other times it has been excellent.

Andry T.

Yelp
I saw an ad for the Cinnamon Cardamom braid on IG. So it peaked my interest and I came on a Saturday afternoon. No wait and the pastry was delicious (I took it home). I've been here a couple times since. And even when I came half an hour before closing the pastries in the case still tasted great! Also, I know everyone reviews the piroshky, but the cabbage rolls are really excellent. Still warm and delicious even after a 15-20min drive home. The cinnamon cardamom braid is also one of my favorite cheat foods now. I usually buy extra if they are available so I can have one in the morning with coffee. And chatting briefly with the staff there makes me feel like I'm talking to a real person, not someone putting on a fake happy customer service rep. I've gone 4-5 times now and had the same types of interactions with multiple staff. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Alice L.

Yelp
The smoked salmon pate and bavarian sausage were good (bavarian sausage is very crispy), but the smoked salmon pate had a lot less flavor than I anticipated (sort of like smoked salmon cream cheese). The cabbage roll had a lot of flavor and was very filling, so I would recommend bavarian sausage or cabbage roll over the smoked salmon pate. Overall, very large portions but a bit heavy.

Yelp
Um, wow. How have I not been to this place before? I think I've been discouraged because I'm not a fan of food courts in malls (maybe it has somethin' to do with reminding me of when I worked at the mall at 16), but don't let my mistake fool you, too. This place is noms! I came to Crossroads and needed a quick snack before book shopping at nearby Half Price Books, and found Piroshky Piroshky. The Russian pastries looked yummy, and since I hadn't had one before I asked the employee there if she could give recommendations. She mentioned that there are two different kinds of piroshkys, the ones on the top shelf were flakier and the bottom ones were more dough-y, yet are more authentic. Though I watch my carb-intake because #summerbod, I had to go with the doughier piroshky after she mentioned it was more authentic. And I'm glad I did. I ordered the Beef, Potato and Cheddar Cheese Piroshky and it was way better than I thought. I wanted to only take a few bites, as a snack yet couldn't help myself and ended up eating half of it. The flavor was awesome, just like good ol' comfort food. But the best part of the piroshky was the bread itself. I hate to say but it was incredibly doughy yet crisp on the exterior and liked the cheddar cheese that was melted on top of it. And it was still warm when I was eating it, making it all the more yummy. It was so good, and I would say that the entire piroshky (which I rationed before and after shopping) served as a meal/lunch for me. And I still can't believe it's less than five bucks, like most of the piroshkys there. Unfortunately, summerbod ain't happenin' because this place is must whenever I'm at the Crossroads Mall. (Crap.)
google avatar

Yelp
I do this thing where I always take pictures of my food and text my friends before eating. But I couldn't resist the piroshki, so I took 2 big bites before taking pictures, hence the bite mark in the first pic haha. The flavors are great. The staffs were also great. All these negative reviews about the staffs "not smiling" are very judgmental and weird. People are not obligated to smile at you. As long as they are helpful and complete their service professionally, I find no issues.

Yelp
Tried the sausage, salmon, spinach and potato piroshky. All of them were super flaky and light!

Yelp
Amazing cocking. Delicious food and great taste. More of a home cocking. Extra star for the kindness of the people working there.

Yelp
I had their piroshky a long time ago but I don't remember how it tasted. I recently came back for pierogies and was quite pleased. They give you a lot of pierogies for about $8. What a great value! They give you a side of cole slaw and some sour cream as well. The pierogies were heavily sprinkled with paprika, which I guess is not so surprising given Eastern European cuisine. The potato dumplings were quite large and very filling. This plate was carb central and I felt awful after eating the plate, but it was a good meal. The thing that was missing was some caramelized onions on the side.
google avatar

June F.

Yelp
Was so delicious! Came with my friend Mark and we had delicious Borscht soup and stuffed cabbage with a side of coleslaw and potatoes. The stuffed cabbage was turkey meat. Everything was super tasty!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Best Piroshky and Pelmeni you can find! Very authentic. You can tell it's prepared and cooked daily and not just mass produced. Great customer service and pricing! Can't beat it!
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
The food itself is awesome and really authentic. I mean, that is the same taste that I remember from my childhood. I'd recommend you to try Golubtsy (cabbage roll with meat) or Vareniki (dumplings with potato and sour cream). Don't be confused by the awful pictures in the menu - that's just a poor ad. As a bonus, you can experience a free portion of apathy and indifference while making your order. Just like in mother Russia! :)

Strawberry S.

Yelp
STAY AWAY FROM HERE. The staff is very rude. We ordered Piroshkys and Pirogi's today. Both piroshkys were burnt. Don't bother coming here. They try to make you over pay anyway by adding on non existent charges.

Daniel D.

Yelp
Great food! Great service! Taste fresh and amazing I love the beef and cheese piroshky as well as the Pelemeni. The dumplings literally melted in my mouth. I would recommend that dish to ANYONE. The service was great as well, they were extremely friendly and even gave a free dessert to my daughter (who was trying to eat sweets before dinner haha) All the workers were wearing gloves as well as hair nets and masks which I found solace and comfort in. 10/10
