Some of the best sushi I’ve had and definitely some of the freshest. You know it’s legit when the ginger is fresh and the soy sauce is uniquely made. We tried a variety of dishes and were not dissatisfied. We order a lot and even though the portions were decently large we weren’t stuffed. Just right! Will order again when we’re in the area.

No one at the counter when we visited on September 28, 2025 at lunch. Update on review as a response to the owner: Yes I am ok with giving you one star as you should update your hours. Google maps shows you open on Sunday from 12 to 10:30p. We are from out of town and rely on information from Google Maps. We specifically selected your restaurant based on review and to show up and not to be able to enjoy your offering was disappointing. We would have like to experience the chef of 24 years.

Super quaint takeaway spot with really great quality fish was super yummy! Packaging was clean and easy as well. Support local!

Absolutely exquisite sushi. The quality of ingredients and the care in preparation are without flaw. The nigiri portions are generous, and the sashimi was simply perfect. I can’t overstate the quality of the fish. One thing to know is that Pisces is take out or delivery only, and parking in Manhattan Beach can be tricky. My highest recommendation. Thank you Kiyoshi-San and company for a wonderful meal. We will be back!

These guys are the absolute best, our DoorDash driver was being belligerent and wouldn’t wait for the order to be ready, so these guys DROVE the order to our house themselves… Unheard of customer service in todays world. 12/10. Sushi is also incredible.

Fish was fresh and sushi bowl was pretty delicious. However, had to wait over 45 mins to get my order. Definitely recommend calling ahead.

the cheapest packaging i've ever seen. Overpriced. Undercooked rice. Cold salmon. Nobu prices. Hmart quality. a very interesting story from the owner. He called and started asking what nationality I am, Russian or Ukrainian. how does he care? Who would want to talk to a person who calls you and asks what nationality you are? then he wanted to tell the same interesting story, how long he has been working here and everyone likes him. ( Police, fire department) And about the rudeness of the staff - a total lie. I do not advise to visit thid place, it is better to go 100 meters ahead to the Fansea

The best fresh sushi you gonna have in the Manhattan Beach area. The food is fresh and it's so good that it makes you want to come back more different varieties of food they have. I recommend highly everybody to check out this nice sushi shop.

On business travel near LAX and came here not realizing it was take out only. Hesitated only slightly then ordered a spicy tuna roll, yellowtail roll and salmon sashimi which I ate on the beach. Quality as well as size of portions stood out, particularly the very large and reasonably priced salmon. Only slight complaint was seasoning is on the heavier side but freshness of fish and quality of rice and other preparations makes it a 5 star, thanks !!!

Love their fresh fish and is still my favorite place. They are closed Monday and Tuesday, so other times I was out there I wasn't able to go there. They used to have a few seats available to eat there, but now they are exclusive take-out. The fish is still amazing.

We had three different kinds of rolls. One was a vegetarian roll and the sauce that came with it. Yumm. It was super fresh and tasty. Great portion for the cost.

Have you ever walked by a place and you're not sure what to think from the outside but have a suspicion that they serve good food? That's Pisces sushi. The lady who took our order at the front desk was friendly. We ordered the: Chef Chirashi Bowl (salmon, yellowtail, tuna, shrimp) Salmon roll Yellowtail roll Bluefin to sushi Tamago sushi Solid portions. Everything tasted great. We took our order and ate it by the beach.

Quality sushi rolls from such a wonderful small business. The salmon roll and yellowtail roll was super good. We ordered ahead and picked them up so easily. Thank you, we'll be back again.

Fresh sushi, usually less than 20 min wait on weeknights. Ownership is very nice and friendly. Easy to call in your order and pickup without messing around with 3rd party website orders.

To go orders only so you know it's GOOD. I call ahead and order and it's read for pickup in 20 minutes. My go to rolls are the crunchy shrimp, yellowtail roll, and salmon nigiri. This Sushi hits righttt

I've ordered take out here twice and the quality of the fish is consistently great. It's a very small business with a humble store front, don't let it fool you, the food is excellent! There is a little standing bar area but not sure if you can eat there. It's mainly set up as a take out place. First time we came we didn't order ahead and there was one lady making everything so it took a bit since it seems she cooks and makes everything by scratch. She suggested us call to order next time so we don't have to wait. This time we called our order in and it was right on time! First time we went, we ordered a few ultimate rolls, forgot which ones. They were all good but felt like it was a bit saucy. She added some decorative sauce I would probably ask for on the side or not at all since I like dipping my rolls in soy sauce and wasabi more, but that's personal preference. My sig-other loved it. This time we decided to go more purist. We ordered a Chirashi Bowl, Sashimi Mix plate and a California roll. Everything was excellent, great variety. I honestly think the quality of the fish here is the best in South Bay! I have yet to find a place that is great, consistent across the board and not $$$$. This place is definitely earned it's place in my favorites list. Do call in your order if you don't want to wait, she does seem to get very busy during meal times!

They're this small mom and pop shop and it's really just so so cute! She's super friendly and sweet (i believe its the owner?) I wasnt that hungry but got one roll, and omg it was delicious. I def am coming back here- and knowing it's a small shop, it makes me wanna support even more. its a to go place tho i think? but just take it, walk down to the beach and have sushi by the beach. in the sand. 10/10

Fast, fresh and authentic take out sushi joint. The owner is super nice, prices are reasonable and consistent quality. They also have Japanese beverages and sweets to grab to go. Parking can be a little rough but this is a great little sushi spot in north manhattan. Definitely recommend!

Delicious!!! It's nice to know that a high quality/low fluff sushi joint exists in Manhattan Beach. My favs are the veggie roll and CA roll. For their Salmon Lover's roll and nigiri, you get GIGANTIC pieces of fish! Pisces is a lovely delight - with service so friendly and sushi so flavorful.

Love this place! We get Pisces a couple times a month for the take out sushi. Call in the order and 30 mins later you're eating a super yummy chirashi bowl. The rolls are huge too - usually get the crunchy or salmon roll.

Super warm personable owners ! I came back several days days in a row in the beginning of the pandemic. I finally was able to come back and try this place again for the third time and can confirm that this is one of the best sushi spots in Los Angeles county. It's a moderately price sushi joint right near the beach. The owners are actually from Japan. The wife is actually a Pisces which is how this cute little pick up eatery get its name. So far I believe I've tried the tuna roll , The spicy crunchy tuna roll, The salmon roll , The spicy scallop roll and the rainbow roll! I don't think that there is a mediocre tasting item on the menu. Everything I live tried so far is superior to A lot more notable sushi spots in LA e.g. sugar fish / sushi kazu nori. However there are definitely stand outs That I would judge as being the best in LA County such as their rainbow specialty roll!!!!! Honestly the best rainbow roll is the best I've ever personally had. Even though I have never been able to actually try sushi in Japan I believe this is the closest thing that you can get!!!! I also love that they also offer little Japanese candies to purchase at the register. I always make sure to pick up a few because if you don't know Japanese gummy's are the best you'll ever have!! Enjoy . You can thank me later!

This is the type of mom and pop shop you want to support! There is usually always a 2 hour wait so call ahead. Then you'll get a call when your order is ready (very convenient). Pisces sushi is serving up quality fish and generous portions! Salmon lovers- 10/10 so good and fresh unagi sushi- 7/10 unagi was a little over cooked yellowtail sushi- 10/10 huge pieces, great fish to rice ratio spicy scallop roll- 10/10 BOMB shrimp tempura crunchy- 9/10 can never go wrong with this roll, tempura stayed crispy even when taken togo Miso soup- 10/10 WOW. it was much better than your average miso soup. much more seaweed and tofu with lots of green onion

A local neighbor recommended this place and my husband and I surprisingly have never heard of this place . First off, it's take out only (even when this Covid thing is over) because of the way it's set up. It's a super small but cute ma and pa place (husband and wife team). I called around 5:30 on Friday night (the lady apologized in advance that the wait would be around 2 hours for whatever I was ordering and to please wait for a call from her when my order was ready before heading over. She was not kidding! My order was not ready till closer to 8, so glad I didn't just swing by. Remember : CALL in your order first. I got the following: 2 order hamachi sushi 2 order toro sushi 2 order albacore sushi 1 order sashimi platter 2 order blue fin tuna 1 order tamago 2 miso soups Everything was fantastic!!! Parking is going to be tough , so I recommend you either walk if you are in walking distance or drive with someone and they drop you off while you run in to pick up. The owner is SUPER SUPER sweet, to a fault in fact ! I came in before she called me because I just figured if I went shortly after the 2 hour mark that surely my order would be ready. It wasn't, and I felt so bad and emo at how apologetic the owner was being that I felt like a jerk for coming in before she called! I kept apologizing for not waiting for her to call and she kept apologizing for making me wait! It was like a comedy skit after a while. I can't wait to come back! Cheers!

We love the tempura veggie roll and the crunchy tuna roll with spicy mayo. Miso soup is also excellent and comes in huge portions if you want. Only thing is it takes a WHILE to get your order (~2 hours) but well worth it.

If I could give this place 5 MORE stars, I would! This is our go-to sushi spot in the South Bay. The fish is fresh, delicious, and the portions are generous! Note: it is take out only. If you plan on ordering some time during the evening on weekends, call about an hour before you want to eat as they tend to get pretty busy. All in all, this is a gem of a place in the South Bay!

Seriously the best sushi I've ever had. I visited Manhattan Beach and got the spicy tuna crunch roll for lunch, and I'd eat it everyday if it wasn't a 45 minute drive! The owner was also so sweet and the service was great.

Great food, took over 90 minutes for takeout dinner for 2. They were apologetic but it was just too long.

Best take out sushi in MB! I absolutely love supporting this small business. They put hard work and love into all of their food. Don't be surprised if there's a 1-2 hour wait on your order because it's totally worth it.

Best To go sushi in the South Bay. That is if you like clean rolls not covered in sauce. Fish is always very fresh and fish portion are on the larger size. Very sweet couple owns and work there. Calling your order can be a little challenging since they are always busy, but so worth it!

I am a sucker for little mom and pop sushi joints and this place is hard not to love. The couple who runs it have that old school Japanese charm and graciousness which is hard to find these days in a restaurant setting and provide a unique cultural experience. I have eaten here 3 times over the last 4 years and have always had a great meal. The sushi is fresh and well prepared. Personally, I think the nigiri are better than the maki here at Pisces. I had 2 orders of maguro and 2 of hamachi nigiri, shrimp tempura roll, medium miso soup and house salad for $45 and everything was awesome. The miso soup here is like a main course and really good. Add a bowl of rice and it's a meal in itself. So a 5 star rating for a place the size of a closet, with only 4-6 seats, really horrible traffic, nightmare parking and a 30 minute wait or more for your food?You betcha. This is my favorite place in Manhattan Beach. Check it out.

Pretty good! Pricey but it's sushi, so what do you expect? I came here once with my sister and service was fast and friendly.

My family and I wanted to grab sushi to go from a local place near Manhattan Beach and Pisces Sushi was just that place! When we walked in the small restaurant, we were immediately greeted. We took a few minutes to look at the menu and make out choices. While our sushi was being prepared, several local families stopped by looking to place an order as well. It was clear that we picked a favorite local spot! Our sushi was SO FRESH and it was ready in no time. We ordered one of the shrimp tempura rolls and two of the spicy tuna. I will say that the spicy tuna was quite spicy, so if heat is not your thing be careful! I would make this a regular stop if I lived in the area! I hope to make it back if I'm in the area again.

I'm always happy with what we get from Pisces. The food is fresh and tasty. Just make sure to plan on it taking 30-60 minutes from the time you order. Other than that everything is great!!

Hands down the best yellowtail I've ever had. Spicy tuna was a bit too spicy for my taste but was still delicious. Couple who owns it were super nice and immediately made me feel like I've been buying from them for years, just very warm and welcoming (especially for a take out place).

OMG.... what can I add the other reviews have not covered yet.... Absolutely top quality from start to finish. Outstanding customer service from the owners, and what I mean by that is getting great input on what you exactly need. Ordered 2x party platters for family and friends and everyone was just blowned out of their socks. Those guys are legit!

This restaurant is one of Los Angeles' last tiny hidden sushi spots. The husband and wife duo that run the shop are two of the sweetest human beings you can ever come across. Pisces is known for their incredible rolls but still offers a selection of sushi and sashimi a la carte. If you are ever rolling by this spot, definitely check it out. Don't forget they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays since it is just the couple that works there. My favorite is the spicy tuna roll.

I'm telling you right now, don't go here unless you have 2 hours to spare. I don't want to be dramatic, but this place legit ruined my birthday. We were going to get "take out sushi" and go to the beach for a bonfire and they said it'd be about 45 min for all 7 of us, and it was two hours. TWO HOURS. We checked in multiple times to ask how long was left and they kept saying, "only 30 min left" when it in fact, was not 30 minutes even slightly. People, it was 2 hours. TWO. It also was $50 for two rolls and some edamame. SO OVERPRICED FOR THE QUALITY, WHICH IS BAD QUALITY. By the time we got to the beach, there de was no fire pits left and our food was cold/warm and I don't even know how that's safe eating warm sushi that has been sitting for a few hours. Nothing tasted good and my birthday is ruined. This place is the worst. Do NOT go here. I REPEAT, DO NOT GO HERE.

So glad I heard about this place. My new favorite sushi spot in town. The rolls I tried were extremely fresh (spicy scallop, albacore, yellowtail) and the toro bowl was very high quality. Even the miso soup was tasty. The owner took our order over the phone and was so kind. Excellent food and service. Adding this place to our weekly takeout rotation.

I stopped by right when they opened (actually, I walked in before they were ready so I went to sit in my car trying to figure out where else to go, when the owner came out, knocked on my window and asked me what I wanted! So I can confirm what other reviewers are saying about how nice they are). I only got six pieces of nigiri and oh my goodness it was so, so good and fresh, and the pieces were HUGE. the photo doesn't show that but they were thick, big and so, so buttery. And, both owners were so sweet and kind. Would absolutely recommend!

I love Pisces Sushi! The service is incredible and are such hard workers, so sweet. They want each order to be perfect and go above/beyond to source the best quality sushi. I eat here once a week and always make sure I call in advance since they can get busy because they're so popular - but worth the wait.

We ordered 5 different rolls from the menu to-go and all of them were very good. Ran by an elderly couple that were hospitable, warm and polite. My only two complaints are that there is absolutely no street parking available. Four blocks south and west of this establishment is a public parking lot with lots of metered parking available. So even though this place looks like the type that you could go in and then out from immediately, it is not. This would not be a problem had it not been for the next complaint... There is very limited seating. And the 3 on the inside and 4 on the outside were reserved when we visited so we had to take our food somewhere else to eat. I wish I could have eaten on the sidewalk but I think I reached the point in my life where sitting down on the sidewalk in my office clothes with my legs sticking out on the street is... unacceptable.

Very small place and very limited seating. The sushi is good. The menu is straightforward and not overwhelmed with several choices. It's a delightful little place to grab a quick bite.
