Best Restaurants in Cambridge’s Inman Square | Eater Boston

"While Pita Cambridge is a much more casual, takeout-focused spot compared to its bigger, upscale sibling restaurant Moona, the quality of the food is just as delightful. The kafta shish kabob is incredibly flavorful, and they also serve some of the best hummus around." - Karen Wilber

The food is good. The beef shawarma roll and Tazzini sauce was awesome. Very reasonably priced too. Baklava was ok.

Google
I got the mixed chicken and beef kafta rice plate, and my wife got the chicken shawarma wrap. I would say the food is average in flavor and quality. The shawarma meat was quite tough although the flavors were way better than the platter I got. If your palate seeks dishes with less spice and seasoning, this is the place to go. The garlic sauce helped improve the shawarma immensely but we still needed to add some hot sauce at home. Platter was alright, it could have used some more seasoning.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I absolutely love Pita Cambridge! I recently had the chicken shawarma rice bowl with hot sauce, and it was incredible. The flavors were bold and fresh, and the portion was perfect. I could honestly eat it every day—delicious and feels like a much healthier takeout option. The hospitality here is also amazing. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. If you’re in Cambridge and craving some solid Mediterranean food, definitely check this place out!

We came with a group of school friends. This is my first Google Foods review ever. I got the Chicken Shawarma with rice bowl. I was excited as the reviews were very positive. However, the food was the biggest let down I have had in a while. The Chicken Shawarma was not flavored at all; the chicken was dry and it tasted more like my school's salad chicken than a Chicken Shawarma chicken to taste. There was minimal sauce, the rice felt a bit stale, and the salad felt out of place. I expected a lot more in terms of flavor and sauce and chicken. Maybe the chef was just having an off moment. However, the vibe of the place was pretty cool - you can sit outside and eat, and the people that work there are nice.

Google
A truly authentic meal that feels wholesome and well seasoned. Pita Cambridge is a staple for my partner and I because the quality of the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and I never feel like I want to change anything about their recipes. We almost always order at least one Lamb Shawarma Rollup - the best part about this is that they never skimp on the shawarma. And they pair it with a really great parsley/pickle sauce situation that just makes you feel better about what you’re eating. We also ordered a combo plate with chicken and lamb - also delicious, also plenty of food, and the garlic sauce is a must for an additional $0.60!!! Lastly: the fries. This is how I tell a great takeout spot from a good one. They season their fries with salt AND pepper!!!! Key move, makes the experience great, would be a crime to put ketchup on it. Love this place, and the staff always greet us with a smile :)

Google
I recently tried the Lamb Kabob plate at this restaurant, and I must say, it was absolutely fantastic! The lamb was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. The portion size was generous, and it came with a side of delicious rice and fresh salad, which complemented the dish perfectly. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall great experience. I highly recommend trying this dish if you’re a fan of Mediterranean cuisine. Can’t wait to go back for more!

Google
Absolutely loved the chicken and lamb plate at this Mediterranean gem! The flavors were incredible, juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The portions were generous, and the sides of garlic and hot sauce complemented the meal beautifully. A must-try for anyone craving authentic, delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Highly recommend!

Google
Ordered carnivore platter, falafel plate, baklava, pita and hummus. The taste was so amazing. The meat was well cooked and had lot of flavor. Loved the sauces and sides (salad, hummus and other things). The food was really delicious and the quantity was good for the price. Definitely worth to try this place. I will definitely try it again too. 👍👍👍👍 I don't know why it shows the restaurant name as red fez in Uber eats instead of pita Cambridge lol

Yelp
We have been ordering from Pita (sometimes even going in person) for lunch for a while now. I think it is really great place for some middle eastern food. The place is halal as the sign outside says. Place is right in inman square and next to parking lot. It is small place but has some seating outside as well. The food is always good (except for this one time and hence one star less when we got undercooked chicken ) and the salad dressing and Tahini are amazing. Their Hot sauce is also house made and mild but fresh. We usually get the Chick kebab plate with rice and salad. it is great portion for lunch and i think picking up or eating there is much cheaper than doordashing and for the value the quantity is def great. I def love their house dressing as well for the salad they have. Very fresh , little tangy and creamy. Overall great place for lunch . They have quite a bit of menu so for dinner it is a good place as well as long as you are not looking to sit and dine and wine.

Yelp
I had catered dinner from here, and everything was delicious. I love that they have plenty of vegan options. The fava beans were especially great, and the rice was well flavored as well. The falafel was a little dry, but that might have just been because I didn't have any sauce with it. Would definitely love to come in person and try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
A coworker highly recommended Pita and after tasting it I can see why! It's off the chain good!
google avatar

Nino E.

Yelp
I came here strictly for the falafel. I'm going around trying all the falafels in the Boston area to see which is best. Among the 5 that I've tried, this is the 2nd best. It was delicious by itself and didn't even need hummus, but the drizzle of course elevated it. Its as authentic as it gets, I'd come back here if I wanted falafels in Cambridge.
google avatar

Aparna R.

Yelp
Ordered a lamb kabob plate and a chicken kabob roll up. Both were excellent--the flavor was rich and the portion sizes were great. I do wish there was more seating in the area so we could enjoy the food there

Yelp
Below was what we got for our lunch! 1x 2 SCRAMBLED EGGS, HUMMUS, TABOULI AND PITA BREAD (BREAKFAST) $8.50 1x BAKLAVA (SIDES ) $1.50 1x KAFTA KABOB PLATE (COMBO PLATES ) $15.50 I'd get Kafta combo plate again, portion is generous and beef was rightly cooked! My gf was not satisfied with breakfast meal, she mentioned she liked hummus but eggs and tabouli were mediocre. Baklava was good but they are so expensive ($1.5 for thumb size piece) It's bit pricy so I'd be hesitate to try this place again.

Yelp
4 stars is what I give, their wraps is what I ate, too much pickles loaded in it, had to work myself to pull out ain't it, but 5 stars are the burgers and poutine, because of the serving size-in, order online because you get a free drink, and ordering ahead you won't have to wait in, small place with outdoor seating, best to sit out on a nice day in Boston.

Claudia M.

Yelp
Service is fast, and prices are affordable. Salad was small, but fresh. Rice tasted like it was out of a box you'd buy at a grocery store. Meat portions were OK, but only the chicken was tasty. (We got a combo plate.).
google avatar

Jillian C.

Yelp
I tried Pita Cambridge for the first time and was not disappointed! I ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the chicken shawarma poutine . The portions are HUGE and will probably feed you for more than one meal. The flavor of the dishes was excellent. Will be ordering from here again!
google avatar

Christine J.

Yelp
A reliable plate of Mediterranean yumminess whenever I crave some tasty grilled chicken kabob on a bed of rice pilaf, salad & their garlic sauce. This has been my go to spot for take out (or you can eat at their limited bench outdoor seating area in the summer.) PS. Don't forget the hot sauce.

Eileen S.

Yelp
Good food. Accommodates quick orders. Don't forget if you are picking up yourself, order in their website, it's less expensive.
google avatar

Eliz R.

Yelp
I am so happy right now. This is a huge portion of magically delicious, healthy (ish) food. I treated myself to the chicken shish kabob combo plate. The rice, salad dressing, tahini sauce...everything was beautifully seasoned and plated to perfection. They were fast, efficient and the person working at the counter was nice too.

Yelp
Yum - if I'm going to completely out of my way to get the best Mediterranean in the Boston area, this is my go-to spot at the moment! The menu includes a wide range of salad bowls, rice bowls, combo plates, salads, roll-ups, and burgers. I've ordered twice from Pita so far. The first time, I ordered special #1 - chicken kabob, rice, Mediterranean salad, and sautéed cabbage. The chicken kabob was well marinated and juicy. The salad is filled with mixed greens and includes tasty Kalamata olives. Even the rice is packed with taste. The second time, I ordered the chicken shish kabob combo plate - which pretty much replaces the cabbage with a little more of everything else. The meals are large. Every time I take food from Pita home, I tell myself that I have enough for two meals. Each time, though, I end up eating the whole thing because it's that tasty. I'm glad that this restaurant isn't really that out of the way for me, because it has definitely earned a spot on my repeat order list.

Yelp
Decent food just needs better customer service as well as working Air conditioning. Food is plenty but a little too heavy on the salt/seasoning/sauce. Sometimes less is more.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome! I saw good reviews on Yelp but didn't know how close I lived until one of my walks around Inman. It's a small cute shop that has very, very limited seating. I got the deluxe plate (lamb, kafta, chicken), chicken shawarma roll up, and chicken plate with extra hot sauce on the side... Yeah I know I went overboard, but I was craving Mediterranean! The food was super fresh and delicious! The lamb wasn't shaved but kebab style to my surprise, so I had a ton of food with that as well as the chicken and kafta in my deluxe combo. The meats were a bit dry but with white and hot sauce mixed with rice and salad, it was just stupendous. I will be back! Very grateful to have Pita not too far from me.
google avatar

Hank D.

Yelp
Solid spot. The roll ups are quite satiating. The white sauce in it is money. I enjoyed the chicken shawarma one. It is neatly and skillfully wrapped like one of Wiz Khalifa's phattest bleezy's, and packed with a generous amount of meat, some tabouli, pickles and sauce. Well done. The basbousa was kind of wack in that it was drizzenched in sweet syrup and otherwise had no complexity of texture or flavor. I'm comparing this basbousa to stellar renditions that Dar525 makes in Brooklyn. I'd recommend this spot for the roll up for sure if you are famished and need something to fill you up for a few hours!

Yelp
I hate to be the one negative review because I really wanted to love this place - I live on the same street, and love this sort of food in general. But, it made me really sick, and I've never gotten food poisoning ever before. It was the same night. And the food seemed not that flavorful - we didn't eat a lot of it, even before I got sick. (I was immediately cured after losing all of the food, so to speak). Proceed with caution, dear fellow Yelpers.
google avatar

Masmin P.

Yelp
Totally craveable kebab platters and roll ups. One of the best kebab places I've been to in a while. Food is fresh and delicious. The add-ins can start to get a little pricy, but I've found that their basic wraps and plates are tasty enough without any additional flavors. It's right across from Ole's Mexican Restaurant so perfect for the two stops I have to make to satisfy my family's diverse tastes!
google avatar

Emily X.

Yelp
The first time I came here I was very excited since I saw the great reviews - I ordered the beef shawarma salad and baklava but found myself a bit disappointed. The consistency of the beef shawarma was like pulled pork (I tend to prefer the chunky type of shawarma more, as found in street food). It wasn't that the shawarma wasn't flavorful, but I found myself wishing for more. The second time I came here, I tried the lamb kabob and THAT was the right move. Pictured below is the lamb kabob in all its glory - glistening, juicy, freshly made to order - what more could you want? The cook isn't as consistent - some parts are well done, some medium, some medium rare, but pervasive through the entire dish is juiciness and flavor. I can't wait to be back and experience the juice again
google avatar

Pete B.

Yelp
Hella good food. Easily one of the best lunch spots near Inman ... go here & be happy. Got various pitas & plates for lunch and always leave full & impressed. Good consistency and good / fast food
google avatar

Phil S.

Yelp
Another brilliant takeout dinner... This time was the kofta, which may have been the very best I've had EVER, and more of their highly addictive babaganoush. I literally can't get enough of this.
google avatar

Kay Y.

Yelp
Got my free meal here w/ Food for All: Shameless plug: get the Food for All app and use my code: kay1730 to get a meal for free! I got a plate of lamb with rice. I wish there was more veggies, but when I got home, I cut up some tomatoes and lettuce, and it was perfect! The lamb is super tender and rice was delicious! Will probably come back for more food with more spicy sauce next time!
google avatar

Suzanne L.

Yelp
The food is BOMB! Beef shawarma is amazing-- well seasoned and very tender. Roll up is great and not soggy at all, and poutine is *chefs kiss* I've just recently started eating falafel and theirs is delicious.
google avatar

Chuchezare B.

Yelp
All I wanted is some rice and meat on the day I'm sick so I paid the extra fees and 15% tip for delivery. Where the hell is the rice and the sauces it comes with it???? For $25 with a dude with the "I'm so cool attitude" for delivery, not worthy. Food is good, but this is not the service I was expecting and paid a lot extra for. Pay attention? just read the instructions? Or simply don't do delivery if not ready
google avatar

Kim J.

Yelp
I ordered via UberEats. I got the chicken Sharma poutine. The fries were good to so-so. Some were crispy and nice and others were mushy. The chicken was try but it was seasoned nicely.

Ruby T.

Yelp
Food was gross. No taste, just bland and generic nothing special. Just tasteless. Will never be returning here
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Where to begin! I ordered a chicken shawarma plate over the phone and picked up in shop within 20 minutes. The chicken was beautifully seasoned (I don't think I've ever associated chicken with the word beautiful but it's true). I never used to be a fan of yellow rice but it's growing on me. It was fluffy and light. Can I just say right now...I was SO impressed by the salad and the dressing. It wasn't just a salad with lettuce, tomato and dressing. This salad was super thoughtful with ingredients like cucumbers, an assortment of olives (including pitted kalamata), crumbled cheese, onion and fresh cherry tomatoes. It tied the meal all together with this magical dressing that I don't even know how to explain. My advice: try it for yourself! I will be back to Pita when I'm in the area, for sure!
google avatar

Ishneet K.

Yelp
I love Pita Cambridge! It's my go to for lunch on weekdays. Fresh, wholesome, delicious and their portions are generous! Love their falafel and hummus on the side, chicken kebab and kafta kabob salad as a main. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Asmae T.

Yelp
This place goes above and beyond for its customers during this time. It's delicious, fresh and healthy, with lots of options that accommodate every diet or intolerance. I'm usually very picky because I have grown up eating this cuisine but they make no cuts or sacrifices when it comes to taste. Everything is perfectly spiced and cooked. I got the deluxe plate, which has 3 different types of protein and they were all tender and perfectly cooked. I'm used to bland, overly greasy rice from other places but this one was fragrant and steamed well as it was not mushy or dry. Check out their insane Tabouli salad too, perfect on a hot summer day. Their garlic sauce is next level too, wish I could order an entire tub. Anyway, this place is super legit and awesome and I can't wait for my order next week.
google avatar

Chantel J.

Yelp
Okay so I'm writing this review based on drunk Chantel ( we call her Sydney) who loves to try new food in areas she's never been....similar to sober Chantel... Anyways. Came in and saw the HUGE menu, which is super neat and laid out. Already knew I was the shawarma plate. Now I was a bit skeptical because it wasn't on the skewer but it smelled so good. The plate came with meat, rice pilaf and salad. The plate was HUGE. It easily could have been 2 meals, juicy meat, seasoned rice. Drunk me ate the whole thing AND ordered a baklava to go with it because YOLO. Baklava was sweet and crispy, prefect made. Definitely would come back here and the pricing wasn't bad either.

Mary J.

Yelp
I come to this place at least 3 times a week if not more. The food is always fresh and tasty. The customer service is excellent. The girls in the morning Karen and Yance always take care of me. It's a shame the tip option isn't available anymore. I never carry cash and these girls deserve it.

Tasia R.

Yelp
got for a girls night takeout. tried falafel and bean burrito. both were very tasty. hit the spot i like the falafel a bit better but the beans had a bit of a nice sauce and kick to it
google avatar

Lovely R.

Yelp
This was probably my best restaurant find in all of Cambridge, MA. I visited for the week during my spring break with around 77 USD and I had maybe 10 left on my 2nd last day here. I came when they had just opened for the day, and asked the woman for their cheapest breakfast option. Instead of just receiving scrambled eggs which was the $4, she gave me the scrambled eggs with spinach and feta, and told me that I could have some pita bread as well as a cup of coffee. I could tell that the workers loved to cook and give to people more than anything, and it was such a genuine, selfless encounter that I had coming from them. The space was small, yet more than enough. Thanks so much for making my week!
google avatar

Musicsphere O.

Yelp
4 stars for hospitality, they give away food for the homeless and gave me a free side of Tahini when I had already paid and forgot to order. Falafel wrap was nice, I like the way the actual wrap tastes here, it is nicely toasted and almost crunchy. Side of hummus tasted too generic for me, I personally enjoy my creamy hummus at Andela. Their chicken looks so good though, I had to come back for the Shawafel roll, will update how it tastes. Get that rose water lemonade or Morrocan mint tea at the counter, it's refreshing. Keep in mind no bathroom on premises but you can use across the street at the Mexican place, as Pita customer. AND YES, Shawafel tastes great!

Utsav P.

Yelp
I ordered Falafel Salad Bowl for delivery. It was tasty, decent quantity and delivery was quick. Giving it 4/5 stars as Falafel were not warm, but otherwise satisfied. Looking forward to ordering again!
google avatar

Ravneet M.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service. The babagonoush is the smokiest and freshest I've ever had. The hummus has the perfect amount of tahini. We also had the kafta rollup and falafel rollup. The meat was perfectly cooked and the pita was soft. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Shariq A.

Yelp
Tried the lamb shwarma roll-up, which had smelly and stale lamb meat, Hardly would call it a shawarma , they don't do the rotisserie for the lamb so it's not shawarma at all. Would never repeat it.
google avatar

Arielle D.

Yelp
I'm really upset that I did not capture a picture of this greatness! I recently moved back to the states from the U.A.E and was a bit hesitant about trying middle eastern cuisine in the states. Pita did not disappoint! I ordered chicken shawarma with rice, cabbage and falafels. For dessert, we ordered the baklava. Thank me now!
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Love this place. How many times have you been to a middle eastern place where the falafel is a day old, and crammed into a stale piece of bread with some iceberg lettuce? This ain't that. Actually delicious falafel in a toasted wrap. Friendly staff. Agreeable pricepoint. It fits a need for the neighborhood, and is perfect for a quick lunch. They nailed it.
google avatar

Sam F.

Yelp
This was my first time at Pita Cambridge. I got the Shawafel Pita Roll-up with some hot sauce on it. It was delicious! The right combination of chewy, crunchy, and lots of flavor! Its not too heavy of a sandwich either. Just enough to keep your belly happy! This is a small store front with some stools for seating by the window, as well as some seasonal picnic tables outside. There is street parking, as well as a public lot right across the street from it. I look forward to going again and trying some other menu items.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
I've walked through Inman Square numerous times, but never saw this place! I'm sad I didn't find it earlier, this place is such a hidden gem! I ordered a chicken shwarma plate, pita, and baba ganoush for takeout. All of the food was ready quickly, and it was all so delicious and portion sizes were generous. I was surprised when I ordered one extra portion of pita but it came with so many huge pieces of pita -- all of the food lasted me for several meals. This is definitely going to be my go-to takeout place from now on!
google avatar

Eduardo N.

Yelp
Small but very nice place, good quality food, nice friendly service, and the outdoor seating is wonderful whenever the weather cooperates. They use some very unique and delicious spices not usually found in most Middle Eastern places. Prices are not great but typical for the area. I wish they were open into the wee hours of the morning, but oh well, that's sleepy one-horse Camberville for ya...
google avatar

Ethan M.

Yelp
Wow this place was amazing! I got a little sample of pretty much everything vegan that they had and it was all fantastic! Quick service and reasonable prices as well. I'd highly recommend it
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
Get the shwalafel (falafel + shwarma) roll up and a side of baqlawa. Amazing. The pita was warm and the shwarma was spicy, with the right amount of pickles tahini and hummus. Service was excellent and prices were right. I've been waiting for a fast shwarma place to go to on warm Cambridge summer nights, and with the outdoor seating this place takes the cake.

Ishneet K.

Yelp
Love, love, love Pita Cambridge! They're food is fresh, wholesome, delicious. Their hummus is heavenly!
google avatar

Stuart L.

Yelp
Just had the best falafel wrap I have had in a long time. The falafel was fresh crunchy, nutty and spiced perfectly. The balance of hot and garlic sauce and pickles was perfect. And got a side of the roasted cabbage, which was delicious. Easily the best falafel I've had in Boston. Completely serendipitous since I swung by while running errands in the area..
google avatar

Kaitlin H.

Yelp
Stopped to get takeout during a long Saturday walk. Ordered the chicken kebab plate. It was delicious-- everything was so fresh! Abdul heard it was our first time in and gave us some tasty additional treats (hummus, tabouli, and tzatziki). I've been eating them for leftovers ever since. We will definitely be back!

Joe K.

Yelp
Had been good but not tonight! Lamb kabobs were tough and stringy. Falafels we're cold and dry.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
Just around the corner from Moona, Pita serves Arabic and Mediterranean cuisine in a casual atmosphere. The menu is huge with options from breakfast to dinner, combo plates great for dining-in, and roll-ups perfect for take-away. Everything I've eaten here has been excellent, and the staff are great to talk to.
google avatar

Jeainny K.

Yelp
Their chicken and lamb plate was delicious! The host was super friendly and I loved the vibe of this place too. Definitely visiting again and bringing friends :)
