"If you’re looking for stand-out hummus and shawarma, Pita Chip is where to be. Their tasty raspberry rugelach and rice bowls are also great alternatives for those who want to shake-up their Rosh Hashanah dinner." - Ernest Owens

Google
Pita Chip is an absolute game changer! This restaurant is a small local chain gem that has been a favorite of my wife and I for a few years now. While I’ve never dined in at THIS specific location, I have gotten take out from here at least 3 times. They’re generally pretty consistent with the food quality, flavor, and portions at this location. If you’d enjoy customizable middle eastern food with a modern feel, then Pita Chip is worth a visit….or multiple!!

Google
Literally the best testing tenders accompanied by the best sauces and the kindest people. They always recommend the most delicious and healthiest foods!

Google
I usually go to the North Broad St. store which is very nice. Today I went to the 36th St store and I love the setup even more! My bowl was so full, it'll take a while to get through it. That's ok because every forkful is a flavor explosion 💥 in my mouth!

Sagar Patel

Google
Like this place during lunch hours. It is a good place for quick lunch. This place has increased their prices by 30-40% which is a lot. Used to go there often, however, reduced a lot due to not consistency with their service and order. Sometimes they charge for garlic sauce with fried and sometimes they give for free. Never know what they in mood for during serving your food.

Kayce Dygert

Google
Nicest workers I've ever met. Every single time I've been there it's not just the good food but the 11/10 personalities you higher!

Adam Finnefrock

Google
It's basically Chipotle for Middle Eastern food. Staff were unfriendly to the point of not even acknowledging a hello. The Chicken Shawarma was unremarkable. You could do better at a food cart.

Abel Cuellar

Google
This used to be my favorite place to eat. The beef and lamb Shawarma was excellent. They no longer serve it very disappointed. That was the only thing I went there for

Google
I’ve been to this Location multiple times all the staff here is very helpful and accommodating. The store is always very clean and a family friendly environment Cat where I can bring My children Definitely would recommend!!

Yelp
They were generous with the rice and chicken, but the rest of the toppings were tiny tiny scoops. The chicken was marinated so well and very juicy and tender. I got a build your own rice bowl, topped with chicken shawarma, regular hummus, tomato and cucumber salad, baba ghanoush, any other goodies. Their in person selection seemed to be less than online, so I'd try ordering online to see if they have some of the more hidden options? (Ex: I could not find roasted veggies or seasoned onions at the actual store!) The garlic and tahini sauces were so delicious, highly recommend! The store was packed around lunchtime, but it's formatted like a Chipotle in an assembly line, so the turnaround is very quick.

Yelp
One of my favorite healthier fast food spots ever! The food is always fresh, plentiful, and flavorful. The garlic sauce is a MUST. I eat here pretty consistently and they never fail.

Yelp
Food: The food here is delicious. It's fresh with lots of options to pick from. I opted for the 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad bowl with falafel. The falafel here is delicious and made to order, which takes it to the next level. The chicken is also quite moist. Service: There wasn't too many people inside so service was pretty quick. Ambience: The inside is clean and modern. It feels like a Mediterranean Chipotle

Yelp
Tasty fast middle eastern food, served quickly daily. I eat lunch here a lot and it's always yummy. I recommend either the wrap or the rice dish, both are good, depending on what you're feeling that day.
google avatar

Shannon C.

Yelp
The food was a good portion and tasty. I like that you can really customize to what you're feeling. That being said we were rushed through ordering even though the restaurant was practically empty. It felt like we had walked in on something. However, got the job done and would suggest when you want a fresh and filling meal.

Yelp
Ever since I heard this was coming to fill a frequently vacant storefront on Drexel's campus, I couldn't wait to get back to class to try it out. I'm not typically a fan of the Chipotle-style buffet build-your-own plate thing, but when done well it's actually really good. Pita Chip offers a great deal of variety, offering 3 options of a base, lots of protein choices, two hummuses, lots of vegetables, tons of sauces, and more! From my limited experience, you can't really go wrong with anything you choose. I'm most excited about decently moist and crisp falafel since that's almost rare to come by in the quick-service food industry. This is the type of place you can take all of your picky or food-sensitive friends and everyone will have a full stomach at the end of the day. Bonus points for fellow Dragons: They take Dragon Dollars (and have free Wi-Fi! for your inevitable Week 3 cram)

Yelp
Pita Chip is a fine Mediterranean Fast-Casual food. I ordered their falafel rice bowl with a bunch of their pickled toppings and garlic sauce. Their falafel was freshly fried when I received my order! But I feel like there are better Mediterranean fast-casual places through out Philly that are better. Better variety of toppings & sauces. Pita Chip has the bare minimum of toppings

Yelp
Only happened to stumble upon this place after a doctors appointment, but I'm so glad I stopped by! The falafel bowl was very flavorful and it was perfect for a quick, casual meal. Will be coming back again

Yelp
Best most amazing food ever. Incredibly fresh and flavorful. Need to get here more often.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome Mediterranean food. Chipotle style make your own bowl place. The food is fresh and you have a ton of toppings to choose from. The portion is very large and filling. Great option for lunch in the area.

Yelp
This spot has quickly become favorites for a quick lunch or dinner. It solidly hits on all levels: flavor, dietary options, portion size, speed, convenience, price, and friendly service. They got wraps, they got bowls, they have tons of sides (their dolma and falafel are not to be missed). In terms of proteins, my favorites are their chicken shawarma, their grilled veggies, and their falafel... which is most of their options. They're all good, it's that those three in my opinion are actually a good bit better than their beef offering. Have it as a wrap and eat with one hand while you do stuff with your other hand, like type this review. Or have it as a bowl with some rice and hummus, as well as copious toppings like their cucumber-tomato salad, fresh herbs, and various pickles and sauces, and baby, you got yourself a nap going. But not really because their portion sizes (for me, a large-ish man who can sugar crash on a bag of chips) hit that sweet spot between filling and "I can't stop but I really should". If you're a fan of mediterranean/middle eastern flavors, and you don't have a ton of time to sit down and grab lunch, give Pita Chip a shot. And yes. They have garlic sauce (aka white sauce) and hot sauce (aka hot sauce).

Yelp
Delicious & fresh!! We had the chicken shawarma & falafel platters. One over salad. 1 1/2 rice & 1/2 salad. Everything was superb! My favorite - the spicy falafel chutney. I will purchase the bottle! My cousin & I wanted something healthy & delicious. It didn't disappoint- I may order again today (had it yesterday!!)

Yelp
This is a new Pita Chip location in University City! I dined at their location near Temple University before and really liked the food. Essentially, it's a fast-casual mediterranean restaurant in a similar style as Chipotle. You can build your own wrap, rice bowl, or salad bowl by customizing your protein, veggies, with mediterranean toppings and sauces (e.g. hummus). Price is reasonable, food is decent, a great place to grab a workday lunch in University City. Also, you can jump the line by ordering ahead through Yelp/Grubhub.

Cassandra F.

Yelp
Food is fine but the woman who served me was extremely extremely rude and just out of pocket. Will not be returning just because of that B****!
google avatar

Rich B.

Yelp
I checked out the grand opening special... any entree for $6. You can customize your order as a salad, wrap , or with rice. Lots of stuff to choose from, sauces, pickles, tabouleh, hummus, etc. The falafel was tasty, but really dry. The roasted red pepper hummus tasted like it was going bad. The chicken and beef shawarma looked very unappetizing. I got a stomach ache after eating my meal. Disappointed, not returning
google avatar

Cori M.

Yelp
The food here is SO fresh, so delicious, and the portion is perfect for the price. I have literally ordered delivery from here twice in the last week/ it's that good. I could literally drink their sauces with a straw. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Suf L.

Yelp
First time here, and I was very happy I ordered online because they were packed around 12! The manager (I assume) gave me two free baklava's because I had to wait for my online order, which wasn't even that long (maybe 5 min max), considering how busy they were. I got the chicken and rice, and it is a lot of food. Like if you eat this all in one sitting, you're a champ; it's enough for two lunches, and it came out to be $7.55, which is such a deal for two meals! You can customize your order just like chipotle, and it's totally worth it. I'll def be back here for lunch soon (probably tomorrow).

Yelp
It was a late night at work and I was looking for something quick but healthy and filling. I was lucky to find this cute little spot nestled into a side street. It reminded me of a Mediterranean Chipotle. The portion size was generous and the quality of food was amazing. I spent a little less than $11 and got a rice bowl with both beef and chicken topped with literally everything (the pickled jalapenos are so good.) I also received a free piece of Nutella baklava which was so nice and yummy. Definitely a place I will frequent and recommend to all!

Yelp
Pita Chip has quickly become one of my go-tos for fast, healthy food to go. I usually get the half and half bowl (rice and lettuce), with chicken shawarma, hummus, and a variety of fresh toppings. I love that there are so many vegetable options to choose from; everything always looks so colorful and healthy! I'm a big fan of their vegan tahini as a sauce, but I recently tried the garlic sauce which is almost like an aioli. It would be great with fries! I haven't tried Pita Chip's fries yet, but when I do I will definitely get the garlic sauce for dipping. My bowl rings in at eight dollars and change, which is really great for a hefty amount of food that keeps me going for hours. The employees are always friendly, and there's a loyalty card program as well as emailed coupons. Great spot for quick, healthy eats!
google avatar

Loretta C.

Yelp
Yesterday I ate here for the first time and it was wonderful! I had chicken shawarma and it was delicious with the garlic sauce over rice with roasted veggies. All of the ingredients were fresh and well prepared. I will return for more.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
I placed an order from Pita Chip off their website. They have an option to set a time for pickup/delivery which is helpful if you want to prepare for later in the day if you might be busy. Their food are is customizable with the main choices between wraps or bowls, a rice or salad base, meat options, veggie options, and various sauce selections. My food definitely tasted like something from a halal food truck. However, the meat quality was much better and there were more veggie options. The sauce was just slightly less heavy as well. The sauces were the most powerful component of the entire bowl. It definitely overwhelmed the bowl which made it similar to eating from a halal food truck. I added in hummus to my bowl which gave it a creamier texture here and there. The bowl itself naturally comes super messy in the container. The price for what I received was fair, it came out to be approximately $8.50 for a very filling and generous serving. I probably would not opt for this place again anytime soon, but I can definitely see the appeal for this place for popular catering options. They have a decent amount of seating inside and various other side orders like hummus available as well!
google avatar

Harry K.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. I wanted some fresh food and this was the perfect spot for it. I ordered the "create your own" option with the chicken shawarma and rice. On top I added all the veggies, sides, and got the original sauce on the side. This was much better than my expectations. The food was delicious and very filling. I'm used to going to chipotle 2x a week, but this restaurant is going to make to consider other options! The price was very affordable too; $7.75 for the bowl. I'd recommend this place for everyone.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
I tried Pita chip at the Broad street location and loved it so I was so excited they opened one here on Market! I've been here 3x already and each time the line is fast and the food is fresh and delicious. I love how customizable the food is and I always ask for 1/2 salad, 1/2 rice even though that option isn't on the menu and have had the chicken with lots of yummy hummus and toppings. The portion sizes are plentiful and can't beat the price! Overall I would keep coming back and always recommend others to try this place out!
google avatar

Jessica Y.

Yelp
Pita Chip is where to go if you want a healthy but very filling lunch. I am a fan of the chicken schwarma rice bowl with tomatoes, pickles, cucumber salad, regular hummus, and a generous dollop of garlic sauce. For a heartier carboload, add a pita on the side for $1. If you've had a long day, order a side of fries, crisped to perfection and comes with a garlic dipping sauce. The customer service here is also superb.
google avatar

Fabrice S.

Yelp
I don't know what to say anymore, the flavors are so bad and not balanced that it's a miracle I didn't get sick. The tahini is way off the meat is dry and not clear what kind of meat it was. Over all You couldn't pay me To eat there again.
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
Freaking awesome! I was in the area for work So I had to find a place to eat. The food was so good I returned the next day. Like the Terminator "I'll be back."
google avatar

Angela G.

Yelp
Tried this for the first time, and to sum it up Pita Chip is essentially a Mediterranean chipotle! Pick your base (salad, pita, or rice), meat, toppings, and sauces. I had the chicken shawarma with half salad and rice, a bunch of veggie toppings, and tzatziki sauce. The portions are huge and lasted me both dinner and lunch, and prices are around $10 per bowl. Service was super quick, would definitely go back again for a quick grab-and-go meal.
google avatar

Carrie H.

Yelp
My go to place for a relatively healthy, quick, and satisfying meal on a work day lunch! I would describe it as a Mediterranean chipotle. The value is great because the portion sizes are huge! I usually get the salad base with beef schwarma. The schwarma is good though I wish it were a little more tender. The veggies are fresh and I usually like to stack them all on for a nice, full meal. You can add on hummus, and the sauce varieties are great - my favorite is the spicy tahini.

Yichao W.

Yelp
The salad is fresh, the beef tastes good. Healthy and tasty. A large range of options of food. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
After eating at the Temple location a few times, I had high hopes that something like Pita Chip might come to the Penn/Drexel area. Fortunately, Pita Chip themselves has ventured out to the University City area and even more college students and associates can feast on fast and fresh Middle Eastern deliciousness. Everything is super-fresh and delicious, there's a good variety of options beyond the main items (try the grape leaves and some of the more interesting bottled drinks), and the price is very reasonable for the portions that you get. Friendly staff too. In short, Pita Chip is better than all the other kind of fast-casual options in the area. Good thing they have a loyalty card since I could very easily see myself coming back here nearly every day given the other nearby lunch options. Go check it out before the lines start forming once the word gets out.
google avatar

Yue Z.

Yelp
I came back! And he recognized me! What a surprise! And I ordered a really huge...roll! Love it! I will come back again(^-^)
google avatar

Sandy O.

Yelp
Pita Chip is awesome! The food is always fresh and delicious and you get a TON of food for an affordable price. I have redeemed one loyalty card already and am on my way to filling up another! Their catering is also very good, I have had it at work several times. Everyone who works there is very friendly too. Great place!

Yelp
I've never had a falafel wrap as big as the one I got here at Pita Chip. I was in town for the Roots Picnic and was looking for food that was cheap and fast so I wouldn't miss an act I was excited to see. The people behind the counter were a bit spacey and hard to communicate with for some reason, maybe they were tired, but after getting the sandwich and fries I wasn't disappointed at the portions or taste. One gentleman who I'll assume was the owner was super nice and friendly, offering me and my gentleman friend a free dessert on the house as we had never been there before. All in all, we had a great meal and the Nutella Baklava was really tasty. If I'm ever in the city again and looking for quick mediterranean food on the go, I'll definitely stop here!

Grace S.

Yelp
What a gem! I ordered the 6 person family meal from the app to take to a rooftop picnic at cira green (only 15 minutes' walk away). Everything was ready and neatly packed up when I arrived, and when I unpacked everything I was pleased to see they had thought of everything - plates, napkins, utensils, serving spoons, tongs. Everything was great. My friends enjoyed mixing and matching their meal, and there was enough variety to fit everyone's preferences and dietary needs. I can't stress enough what a good deal it was. We got rice, salad, pita, falafel, shawarma, hummus, three mixed veggie sides, three sauces, and baklava. It was $75; each of the six of us ate 1-2 plates and we still had enough left over for everyone to take leftovers home. I'll be eating what I brought home for most of the week. Thank you Pita Chip for a great meal!
google avatar

Gabriell M.

Yelp
I love the Falal Rice bowel, grilled veggies, roasted pepper hummus, tomato cucumber salad, tabbouleh, red cabbage slaw, seasoned onions, parsley and cilantro with vegan tahini. Always a lunchtime favorite. Staff are always friendly. Restaurant always clean. Nice atmosphere.
google avatar

A N.

Yelp
Great place. Small dining area but the food is phenomenal. Very authentic. It actually is real shawarma. The sauces and the variety of them is also great. You really can't go wrong. They are also very receptive to their customers and take pride in that. If you have to choose between pita chip and halal guys nearby, Pita Chip wins out!

Kelly L.

Yelp
Visiting Philly for Drexel events and found the yummiest Mediterranean food. Think of it as a Greek Chipotle. Comfortable, clean and delicious.
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
I've used this place for catering before and went in personally for the first time today. I had a delicious salad with sautéed veggies (great vegetarian options). The portion was very filling. Also, if you like spicy, the falafel chutney tahini is delicious!!
google avatar

Kellsey R.

Yelp
Pita chip is the best Mediterranean lunch spot in university city! It's a fast casual style restaurant, with a Chipotle-Esque setup. The chicken schwarma bowl is the best, topped with pickled turnips, onions, tabbouleh, cucumber tomato salad, and the most epic garlic sauce ever. My only complaint is that their chicken is a bit salty. Otherwise, a wonderful lunch choice!

Hagana K.

Yelp
Easily my favorite new lunch spot in an area that is way oversaturated with options! This is basically a bouged-up halal cart set up in a Chipotle-style assembly line fashion with Goldie-level fresh ingredients. I'm a huge fan of the beet salad topping. You can get a salad, wrap, rice, or half/half salad and rice. I've gotten the half/half every time. The chicken shwarma is pretty spicy so I may forgo the spicy sauce next time. There are a ton of sauce options, but I haven't yet made it past the house garlic sauce. I love this place for being basically a veggie bomb of a lunch, with ample protein mixed in and easy options to limit the carbs. Since it's new, the lines are fairly short, but I doubt that will last..
google avatar

Yoon Hee C.

Yelp
Great place to go for a hearty yet healthy (?) chicken shwarma salad bowl. I'm not sure how healthy it is since I usually douse my salad with a ton of tahini sauce. Their spicy tahini options are truly spicy so be aware!
google avatar

Shekia P.

Yelp
Very delicious and healthy quick casual Mediterranean food. I loved my half rice-half salad bowl loaded with fresh toppings!

Nhi S.

Yelp
I like how I get to choose an unlimited amount of veggies. I also got to taste all the dressings before I had it placed on my wrap which was a thumbs up. The portion was plenty only cause I don't eat a lot. I paired my wrap with a drink for $9.99 without tax I believe. The workers were nice too.

Zoe P.

Yelp
This place has amazing food and for a good price considering it's in Philly! Highly recommend even if your not the biggest fan of mediterranean food. The sauces are to die for!

Tobi O.

Yelp
My two go too dishes are Chicken Shawarma and Beef Shawarma because it's fresh and tasty and have recommended it to a lot of my friends
google avatar

Robert E.

Yelp
Ok for the price and if you are looking for something healthier. Just a refreshing respite from burgers and pizza. Service was quick and you get plenty to eat. Then why not five stars? I don't just give five stars all willy nilly..that's why!!! I reserve five stars for real restaurants. Not fast food or almost fast food.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
Omg DROOL. This place is amazing! The food is fresh and delicious, and the prices are affordable. The lines might get long during lunch hour but they move quickly. Lots of veggie options as well. My new go-to!
google avatar

C T.

Yelp
I don't understand how this place has good reviews. It's horrible ._. The atmosphere is nice for fast casual but the food is like old meat

Adriana L.

Yelp
After my first terrible experience I swore I'd never go back. As time passed, I chalked it up to an honest mistake and gave it another try yesterday against my better judgement. Spoiler alert: I shouldn't have. It's my understanding that the format of the restaurant is either build-your-own or order from a standard/suggested list where toppings and sauces are preselected. Thus, when I ordered a chicken shawarma bowl and asked for "everything that comes with the chicken" I was shocked when I got back to my office and realized the staff member had put literally EVERY POSSIBLE TOPPING (including some that obviously clash such as various styles of hummus, pickles, etc.) on my lunch. I did realize that I was in a group of coworkers and perhaps should have noticed but this seems self-explanatory? Or am I a jerk? Yesterday, I again went in a group. I ordered a beef bowl (thinking I'd play it safe) only to receive strips of flavorless, unseasoned beef on top of my lunch (maybe for customers with allergies, etc.?) Was this because I didn't explicitly say "shawarma"? Fool me twice...
