Honestly, I dream of the Pita House quite frequently. There are a couple reasons for that...
1. The grocery side of things: they have lots of spices, baking supplies, frozen foods, hard-to-get middle eastern ingredients, and, perhaps most importantly, OLIVES (in bulk!). I have a passion for foreign grocery shops (especially spice shops... am I an emperor if she's past? We may never know) and even though this place seems small, it's quite good and it's probably best for my wallet that I don't live closer. The pitted, oil-cured olives are the best. I put them in everything, salads, pizza, with cheese/charcuterie, plain as a snack. So good. But generally speaking the prices are competitive with other international markets I've been to. Definitely worth a stroll through if you come for lunch someday!
2. The food: I don't think I've ever eaten in the restaurant because it's usually crowded but I've had so much of their food via takeout and love it all. Falafel is great, the lamb and hummus are great, usually served with pita. It's a great meal. I also have a special place in my heart for their baklava (and most of the other sweets haha), so definitely don't skip that if you enjoy dessert.
3. The service: despite the Pita House being packed and busy nearly every time I've gone, the staff are always very kind and have smiles ready to go. That's not something I see at every store and I really appreciate it here. The owner is older and Syrian still works the register in the restaurant and grocery side of the shop.
I know a lot of folks in the Greenville area have been to or at least heard a lot about the Pita House, but if you aren't from that area or haven't been yet, I can't recommend it more than I already have! Immerse yourself in a little Arabic culture and eat some good food!
