I hadn’t been here in years and decided to try the chicken shawarma rice bowl, but unfortunately the quality has gone down. Chicken was a bit dry, it was mostly lettuce, and they forgot the red sauce I paid extra for. It didn’t seem like this was worth $16 for me. I’m a rather tiny person, 100 lbs, and I’m still pretty hungry after eating what I could..

You walk in and immediately smell deliciousness and can see meat on a spit being made at Pittsburgh’s most authentic shawarma. Pita My Shawarma located in Lawrenceville, serving up Lebanese street food, falafel, Halloumi fries, hummus and more. Started as a food truck and has evolved into that plus a storefront. Absolutely incredible food. They have some seating indoors, some outdoors, offer pickup and are available on food delivery services as well. Super clean space, very friendly staff and you can watch them make your meal as the kitchen is exposed. Tried their hummus dip and pita which is fresh homemade hummus with two loaves of fresh pita bread- may be one of the best homemade hummuses I have had! The Chicken Shawarma & Rice is a fresh, hand stacked, & rotisserie shaven chicken over Lebanese rice with fresh veggies and a garlic sauce. This was delicious and the portion was a decent size (I had leftovers)! Had to taste their hand-cut Zaaatar fries- wow were these good. Hand cut fries with sesame, thyme seasoning and kosher salt with a side of ketchup and aioli to dip! Couldn’t leave without tasting their Baklava- with an order you get two pieces of this sweet dessert made with filo dough, walnuts, simple syrup and pistachio crumbles. I am jumping on the bandwagon, Shawarma Is Life!!!

Google
I did my research and it paid off- Pita My Shawarma has the best Shawarma Fries in Pittsburgh. This is not hyperbole. The Zataar seasoning adds so much flavor and complexity that you don’t find a lot around here. Getting even more to go. We’ll be back A LOT.

Google
Chicken Shawarma was great. Fries are seasoned well. I can still taste the garlic in my mouth 👌 Small inside but enough for maybe 6 to 8 people for dine in.

Google
Pita My Shawarma isn’t just a place to grab a bite—it’s a neighborhood gem that truly feels like part of the community. The owner is one of the kindest, most welcoming people you’ll meet. He greets regulars by name and makes newcomers feel right at home. You can tell he genuinely cares, not just about the food, but about the people he’s serving. The menu is full of fresh, flavorful options, but the loaded fries are the absolute standout—crispy, savory, and piled high with shawarma, garlic sauce, and all the good stuff. Every bite is pure comfort. It’s rare to find a place that nails both heart and flavor like this. Pittsburgh is lucky to have it.

Google
Bright space with fresh Lebanese street food. There are a few counter seats inside and a great, sunny patio outside. We tried the hummus dip with pita. It was good but a little bland. The fries are fresh cut and tasty. I also has the Chicken Shawarma wrap. The chicken was flavorful and the toppings were fresh and evenly distributed. Again, it was a tad bland but nevertheless very good. I definitely recommend.

Google
Food had lots of flavor to it that was definitely unique. Portion sizes were pretty solid. The chicken in the bowl seemed a bit more tender than the pita. Not our go to spot, but if you’re in the mood for this type of food, it may serve you well.

Yelp
Kind Owner, Incredible Food -- Get the Loaded Fries! Pita My Shawarma is one of those rare spots where the food is amazing and the people make you feel like family. The owner is truly one of the kindest I've ever met--always welcoming, generous, and clearly passionate about what he's serving. Everything is fresh and flavorful, but if you only get one thing, let it be the loaded fries. They're hands-down the best thing on the menu--crispy, perfectly seasoned, and piled high with juicy shawarma, creamy garlic sauce, and all the toppings. It's comfort food done right. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, this place hits every time. Highly recommend

Yelp
Everything was very delicious! Service was quick and the meal was very filling. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
I ordered Pita My Shawarma and had it delivered so I definitely want to try this place again in person. Based on what I ordered and what I received, I think it's slightly overpriced but I'm wondering if it's different in person. I ordered the chicken and rice bowl and it was $16. Fine, but it was a very small container and the portion was definitely on the small size. Almost $10 for a cup of fries was a bit much to me too. Overall, the food was pretty good. It was cold but that's because of delivery. So like I said, I want to try again in person because I'm hoping I'll have a better experience.

Yelp
If I could give this place negative stars I would. It was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had!!! The service was terrible. The young man at the counter was extremely rude and clearly didn't care about customer service. The food was not good either. I had a chicken shawarma salad that had very little chicken and the bacon was so hard you couldn't chew it. The shawarma wrap was very dry and not good either. I definitely don't recommend.

Renas R.

Yelp
Not recommended. Your money will be wasted. And you'll have a strange taste in your mouth all day long. And of course, You may need to go to the toilet 3-4 times

Yelp
You can definitely tell that this food is good for you! Very fresh and makes you feel good when you eat it. Showed up at my door and couldn't wait to dig in thanks to insider eats!

Yelp
This was my first time trying this restaurant. I'm a big fan of shawarmas in general and had heard from some of my friends that this was a spot worth investigating. So like the food detective I am, I decided to stop by on one of my walks and take it home with me to properly savor it. I was not disappointed. The first bite let me know everything I needed to know. Pairing it with extra garlic sauce was a great decision that I recommend. You can tell the chicken is fresh and spiced very well. I know it's a small thing, but I also appreciate how they heat up the pita bread before assembling the shawarma. It's a small detail but I think it adds a lot of value. This is definitely a spot worth stopping in and grabbing a shawarma to go. I wouldn't say I was particularly inclined to sit in the restaurant. In my opinion, this is a more grab and go type of establishment. Nonetheless, I think it's a restaurant worth trying if you haven't already. 4/5

Yelp
I ordered takeout from here last night and it was so good! I can't speak to the restaurant itself as I door dashed it, but delivery was quick and the food was great. I got extra chicken, and I'm so happy I did because it was so good. The hummus and garlic sauce was amazing, and I loved the pickles!

Yelp
This place looks cute but I was pretty disappointed. There was no AC inside on a super hot summer day. Everyone says it's expensive here and it is for a basic chicken pita wrap since it ended up being $14 for just chicken and lettuce in a pita. I am low fodmap and the food here isn't really that low fodmap friendly. I had the garlic sauce on the side that I didn't end up using. Inside the stale wrap was chicken and lettuce. It had little to no flavor and the chicken was not what you normally get at Shawarma spots I've been to in NYC. It felt more like grilled chicken. It didn't feel like the pita was heated up either, the whole wrap was kind of cold. Definitely have had better shawarma from a cart on the street.

Yelp
We just had a chicken shawarma and a falafel at Pita My Shawarma. The owner was very friendly and the food was delicious. I had the falafel, which was fresh and tasty. I love the Pittsburgh twist of fresh crunchy pickles in the falafel. I heard that the chicken shawarma was good too. The fries were good too. But the best part of the meal was baklava. It was crunchy with a tinge of sweetness.

Yelp
It was exactly what I was looking for! Wanted something that didn't cost too much, had a good bit of protein, and wasn't too fatty, and this fit the bill!! The pita was overfilled with lean chicken and surrounded by lettuce and pickled veggies. There was also this great garlic sauce on it that really tied everything together. Nice location well decorated.

Yelp
Easily the best, THE best shawarma fries I have ever had. The guy at the counter was chill and made the food fast. I could talk about these fries for days. The seasoning, the hummus, the chicken, absolutely phenomenal. Top notch in every field imaginable. Great drinks too. I personally got Mexican coke, but they have a wide variety of other stuff.

Yelp
I ordered a build your own falafel pita. It was excellent. Fresh, tasty, and filling. My only extremely minor issue was that the garlic sauce is strong enough to kill an elephant. I'd like it toned down a bit. I think that next time I'd go w/ sesame sauce. My wife was less than thrilled w/ her falafel and Shwarma bowl. She felt that the falafel was too dense. I'd happily go back. Jason - the chef / order filler / do it all guy was pleasant and working hard. The restaurant isn't much to look at but it's bright and clean.

Yelp
My husband got the supreme shawarma and I got the chicken shawarma with salad, add feta and siracha aioli....WOW...these exceeded our expectations and we will be back! HIGHLY recommend!

Yelp
It's a halal place in Pittsburgh, which is nice. But, I was pretty disappointed with my wrap from this place. The chicken shawarma was not what I expected it to be, and just left me really underwhelmed. First, the prices. Most reviews will mention the price, and yes it's definitely on the expensive side. I'd be okay with paying the premium if the shawarma was incredible. But, it's not. The chicken had a somewhat rubbery, chewy, odd texture and the flavor was also off. The pita itself was somewhat stale and I've definitely had far better pitas at other locations. Highly doubt that this is homemade (for a price like this, it definitely at least should be homemade pita). A few pieces of tomato. Barely any garlic sauce, as if it wasn't even included. Chunks of pickles that were pretty decent. They did follow my order instructions to not include the lettuce, which was nice. All in all, would not recommend. Very underwhelming, especially for the price! The flavor, portion, and prices are all off. Would rather drive to Mt. Lebo for Laziz's incredible wrap.

Yelp
The food great! My personal favorite was the chicken shawarma! (Get the Zaatar seasoning) Food didn't take long and overall good for a quick meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered to-go food from here last week. Everything was quick and so, so fresh! I got a salad, hummus and the baba ganoush. Love that the pita they serve is from a local business also!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious choices on a limited menu. Vegetarian and and Vegan options. Good food and large portions. Nice outdoor dining options, both on the sidewalk, plus a cute side garden. The front door is sticky, everyone struggled to open it. I thought it was locked. Fast, courteous service.

Yelp
Last night, we wanted to eat something different so we decided to try Pita My Shawarma in Lawrenceville. So glad that we did! Both the chicken and the beef (only available on weekends) were so well seasoned and so flavorful. The beef really packed a punch. Loved the garlic sauce On the beef. The French fries were hand cut fries and really good. We liked the chicken best. Next time, I'll either get the loaded fries with chicken or see if they could put chicken on the Halloumi Fries. The reviews said the Halloumi Fries were really good. I love cheese so I'm in. Check them out. There is no space to eat inside but they're little patio is open. There is also a table in the front we ate on. Masks are enforced which is good.

Yelp
Conveniently located on Butler St, I've been wanting to try this place countless times that I've passed by, so I finally stopped in last evening to grab a meal to go. I ordered the falafel wrap and baba ganoush dip while my friend ordered the chicken shawarma. Their pita comes from Pitaland in Brookline, another local favorite. The food is phenomenal, but the lack of a/c and unfriendly demeanor of the staff was just ok. I will be back to try some of their specialty fries and baklava, the outdoor space looked nice.
google avatar

Yelp
I stopped in last night for a falafel wrap and a side of hummus and it was very good! I really haven't been able to find good falafel in Pittsburgh and this is definitely the best I've had! We ended up taking these to Arsenal park and ate it there and we had a great time. This is definitely a good place to come if you're craving a falafel wrap! I also really appreciated that it noted which items were vegan right on the menu. More places need to do this!!
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
We had takeout the other night and it was crazy good. It was our first Lebanese food experience and we'll definitely be back for more. The flavor was incredible, from the grilled smokiness of the chicken to the depth of all the sauces and pickled vegetables. They accommodated any requests I made (sauce on side etc) and were quick with the delivery. Can't wait to try more!
google avatar

Ciara M.

Yelp
Me and my daughter got the chicken shawarmas and they were very good. They are very salty so a minute made acuas Frescas mango was great with it. We also got the loaded shawarma fries with chick which was also good but even saltier. The service was nice and quick and the ambiance in the little restaurant was nice and refreshing, a little more expensive then you'd think, but overall a very good experience
google avatar

Kari S.

Yelp
I came across this place on my Instagram and I couldn't believe we have a legit place right here in Pittsburgh. My Shawarma experience comes from Germany (Turkish and middle eastern eateries) and Israel. We got Chicken Shawarmas and mine came with an addition of Hungry Jess Sriracha Aioli. The pita was crispy outside and soft inside with the chicken just melting in your mouth. Loved the spice blend and took me back to Israel! It was really filling although I was sad when I took my last bite. I don't have any other places in Pittsburgh to compare with and I know it's a little bit more expensive compared to other prices. I am not sure I will try any other places just to save a few bucks.

Yelp
A neighbor has been working with several area food trucks to come and set up shop in the neighborhood once a week. Tonight, Pita My Shawarma was the scheduled food truck (if the food truck is sent from a different location than Butler, my apologies). I like shawarma. My kids are too finicky to try something new, and my wife isn't one for it, so I don't often get the chance to pig out on the stuff. So when I heard this food truck was coming, I eagerly awaited it. Scheduled my dinner around it, actually. It was our understanding that the truck was supposed to arrive at 5PM. 5 o'clock rolls around, no sign of any truck. 6? Still nothing. By 6:30, I had to make other dinner arrangements, and apparently others did as well. Eventually I find out the truck eventually DID show up. Just shy of 7PM. Okay, shit happens, so be it. Maybe I'll still be able to grab one as a snack for later? No. Why? Because whoever was in charge of the truck for the day decides to pack up and leave at 8 on the dot. So you're two hours late, and then you only stay for an hour? What the hell guys?
google avatar

Karla D.

Yelp
I've loved them since they were still a good truck. Being able to go to a brick and mortar spot is even more special. We've been here several times since the opening and have never been disappointed. The authentic flavors and love put into the food takes me back to the same style home cooking of old family friends.

Yelp
Stopped in the afternoon and picked up a chicken shawarma and a falafel wrap for the wife and I. Food is made to order and was made up in just a couple minutes. It smelled so good that it took every ounce of my self-control to wait to eat until I got home! The falafel was light yet flavorful, and loaded with fresh vegetables. The chicken shawarma was also very tasty and worked well with the sauces. Food is reasonably priced and I'd definitely come back when in Lawrenceville!
google avatar

Binoy K.

Yelp
So I went back at the request of the business. And I must say. He treated me really well and gave me a try at their chicken schwarma sandwich and fries. From my last review I barely got fries. Barely got a sandwich with warm meat. This time. Much much different. They have worked the kinks out and are now able to not only provide fresh and warm meat but they didn't run out of chicken. Which I must add is seasoned perfectly and tasted out of this world. I wish I had pictures to post but I killed half the hot fries on the way home. The portions are much fairer now and quite large. I'd say they would challenge five guys in terms of how many fries I got. The sandwich itself. Perfectly cooked and seasoned chicken. Veggies and a sauce. It was simple and traditional but delish. I wish they did add more sauces / a hot sauce though like you see on those foreign Instagram food posts. Would be a sick addition. All in all def will come back for that giant chicken sandwich. So good.
google avatar

Mallory M.

Yelp
The wraps here are delicious! They have chicken, steak, falafel and hummus. I got the falafel which was excellent. The falafel was nicely prepared--not overly deep fried at all. Everything tasted very fresh. You can order online from their website. The staff was all very nice as well.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Nice place to get a quick, satisfying meal in Lawrenceville. We tried the chicken and rice bowl and chicken loaded Shawarma fries. Personally, i loved the tenderness and seasoning of the chicken. I was also in love with the garlic sauce they added on top of both dishes. However, my friend thought it was too garlicky. The portions are generous. Their inside seating is a bit limited (bar stools) but they have outdoor seating next to the building. I would come back to try their wraps.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Really good grab and go food. Something a little different but not too different for people who may have a more meat and potatoes palate. I got the chicken shawarma, a side of fries, and baba ghanouj. I liked how they put pickled in the wrap. I love sauces and condiments so I ordered extra garlic sauce on the side. Be warned if you may be getting this for date night because the garlic is STRONG! I really enjoyed it though! The fries were fresh cut and had a really nice amount of salt and seasoning on them. I wanted baklava as a well and was sad that they were out of it, but I'll just have to get it next time! A little on the pricey side, but nothing to deter me from coming back.
google avatar

Allie O.

Yelp
This place is so expensive. The pita isn't even homemade $20 for a hummus wrap and small fry because you were sold out of falafel at 630. It's insulting really to pay that much for a hard pita and a small amount of hummus and one pickle. At least the fries were hot
google avatar

Meghan B.

Yelp
I first tried pita my shawarma through a yelp event and absolutely fell in love with the falafel pita. When I was in the area and was looking for something to pick-up for dinner, I knew I wanted to visit Pita My Shawarma again. I ordered through my yelp app which was super easy and gave me an estimate on when I could come pick it up- super easy process. We tried the falafel and the chicken shawarma- both of which were delicious. Will def. order take-out again soon!
google avatar

Nithya G.

Yelp
The food was great. Shawarma was exactly as it should be and filling. Service was quick and courteous. We ate inside as it was windy and cold out. Place itself is small but works as it is not a sit down restaurant anyway and that was not the expectation. Chicken in every bite, flavorful and wholesome and satisfying. Will definitely make this our stop when the Shawarma craving hits.
google avatar

Julianna M.

Yelp
YUM! This local spot has some great shawarma. Very fresh food. Highly recommend getting the chicken shawarma bowl, great portion size. The cheese type stuff they put on top is so good. We got take out but they do have an outdoor patio area and some indoor seating. Check their social media for some great deals!
google avatar

Kyle J.

Yelp
Really nice authentic food! Not my typical but it's awesome! Give it a try when you want something different than normal!
google avatar

Giana R.

Yelp
I don't find enough authentic middle eastern food in the city! The food was rich in flavor and made by heart right in front of you. The environment is more of a grab and go with limited indoor seating, but an outdoor patio when weather permits. Lots of vegan/vegetarians options are available! You're definitely eating the rainbow here. Comfortable environment and reasonable prices. I'd go back again! Check it out

Morgan B.

Yelp
I'm always wanting to try new places, but I can't stop coming back here. The food is unfailingly flavorful, and there are healthy options unlike a lot of other fast casual places. The smell, the look, the taste of the chicken is mouthwatering, but I really love the falafel with hummus. Don't forget the fries, either! SO GOOD & it's evident that there's a lot of heart behind every piece of this restaurant
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! This place is right beside Cantina in Lawrenceville on Butler. Its a cozy place with great outdoor seating. They have an nice size many with lots to choose from. You can order a regular size Pita or a mini shawarma for eating there or to go. Make sure you order the "hungry Jess Shawarma".
google avatar

Chad N.

Yelp
I wanted to get the chicken but they ran out as it was the end of the evening, I ended up getting the falafel and was really impressed that it wasn't meat and all veggies based. Would return again. Fast and quick service. Few spots to sit inside and they have outside patio seating which is nice.

Sandra T.

Yelp
We were visiting Pittsburgh last weekend and wanted to try this restaurant. We had a chicken shawarma wrap and a falafel humans bowl. Both were delicious! Also a side of cheese sticks with chili dipping sauce and some french fries. The food tasted so fresh and was seasoned to perfection! Afterwards we walked in the area and enjoyed the fun shops! This is a fun and delicious area to visit!
google avatar

Ostap L.

Yelp
Best mediterranean food in Pittsburgh Food was amazing. I tried chicken and beef and they were both nicely seasoned. Fresh cut were great. Food made freshly and you can taste it. Shawarma is great. Falafel is top notch
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
Great flavor, had the chicken wraps and fries. Good for a quick casual bite but a little more pricey
google avatar

Rick W.

Yelp
Wonderfully garlic-generous, pickle laced, chicken shawarma pita wrap... my first one was a bit light, but I just did a second visit and it was a well apportioned with chicken, etc. The food was quick too.
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
Oh boy. What a great lunch. My first time here and I had the chicken hummus shawarma and it was delicious!! So I noticed as I was leaving that they come in two sizes, sorry I didn't get the large. Food was ready in minutes. Will be back tomorrow as I am working a project in the area.
google avatar

Elle D.

Yelp
Wow, picked this place because it was one of the few casual things open for lunch near our Airbnb and was not expecting one of the best chicken shawarma pita wraps I've ever had! This guy's shop is the real deal. Definitely try it!

John E.

Yelp
The food is great and shout out to Jay for the amazing service!!! He's the man. Will be coming back
google avatar

Dan A.

Yelp
I tried both their falafel and shawarma wraps during a Yelp event. Definitely loved the falafels. They were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. However, I did not like the chicken shawarma so much. I would be back to give them another try but I think their prices are steep at $12 for shawarma and $10 for falafel with no sides.
