"Don’t be put off by the long line; the staff at this beloved falafel shop keep things moving at a brisk pace. This is at least in part because falafel is the one and only thing on the menu. You can choose white or whole wheat pita, and spicy or mild, but beyond that it’s best to surrender yourself to chef-owner’s Nadav Weiss’ culinary talents. There’s a charming indoor dining area and some covered picnic tables outside. If you arrive on a bicycle, you get a free drink." - Kris Farmen

Google
Very friendly and welcoming environment, the food was incredible. I’m so glad to know there is a great falafel place nearby the house! The Pistachio rose ice cream was amazing also!

Google
This place is amazing!! We had fresh vegetarian falafel sandwiches and we loved every bite. Delicious and healthy. Easy to order fast response. Highly recommended.

Google
Sooooo good and cheap for lunch. My 2 kids and I had four 1/2 sandwiches and oreo Gelato for $35.

Google
I was not expecting a Falafal dining in Alaska, being from Michigan which is the hub of Falafals, and used to eating them they are doing real decent jobs in making vegetable Falafal sandwiches. The host are really nice and welcoming. The prices are very reasonable. They have only outdoor seating which is nice. Overall good place to take a snack on your way to Dinali.

John Dougherty

Google
This place is amazing! Best falafels I have ever had.

Thomas Mery

Google
Absolutely worth eating a meal here. Delicious. Well portioned. Happy environment!

Google
Best falafel I ever ate, similar to New York. Wish it was open for longer hours. Hard to find good food in central Alaska and this place is definitely a go. Great experience for 1st timer. My buddy had it for the first time and he absurdly loved it. Don't be afraid to try this amazing food.

Google
Hands down the most incredible falafel! Love this food and this amazing family! You can tell by the lines here (even after 15 years) Fairbanks loves Pita Place, and for good reason!

Johnny C.

Yelp
Despite being very small, this is one of the best restaurants in town. Their food is absolutely delicious, and the owner is friendly. I've been a fan of theirs for many years.

N K.

Yelp
Love the simplicity of this place and the freshness of the food. Their Turkish coffee is to die for

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Closed forever. Never will be open again. Closed yesterday. No more falafel. Really, no pita or falafel ever again.

Victoria M.

Yelp
I'm not a falafel fan, but they seem to have a cute no -falafel option with eggs for people who can't appreciate it. My Greek husband loves this place and the people are kind. I wish they had high chairs for little ones.

Alexia K.

Yelp
Super delicious food that is incredibly flavorful and fresh. My husband and I each got a whole white pita with falafel and all the toppings. We were completely blown away by how much flavor was packed into one bite. I don't think they have meat options but honestly, try the falafel. You wont regret it. For all my coffee people out there they serve Turkish coffee and me oh my is it strong. I highly recommend the Turkish coffee and baklava together.

Kaitlin R.

Yelp
My coworker has been talking about Pita Place for daaays and with my food sensitivities I thought I would try it. I was super happy that pita pit was so dairy and egg friendly. The sauce was free of those elements and my pita could automatically be a salad. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. This was a winning stop, staff was knowledgeable of ingredients, food was quickly prepared, and I had a delicious lunch.

Harvey V.

Yelp
Incredible falafel. Great service. Good prices. Excellent coffee and baklava. What's not to love! I had lunch here today on the recommendation of a local. If they were open for dinner, I would have eaten here twice today! This is a must when in Fairbanks.

Rick Z.

Yelp
I love this place! Vegan friendly. Every time I'm going to fairbanks I am excited to order their pitas. I'll see you soon again!

Yelp
After almost every person we came to meet on our trip to Fairbanks recommended this place. There was just one other customer in here when ee arrived. There menu is limited to 4 choices! Which in my book speaks volumes. The less choices, the better they are going to be. Focus is on fresh produce, house pickled cabbages, onions etc. I ordered the pita falafel with everything they had to offer. It was quickly put together and I began my first bite. I tasted bits of 10 different flavors in every bite, how can that happen you may ask? Well if you watch them assemble your pita you are to realize that they create layer after layer going thru each ingredient. I almost wish I lived here so I can come back to one of the best pita place on this state!

Yelp
Do you even like falafel???? Open during summer, Pita Place is a must stop for not only yum falafel, but a gigantic pita stuffed with toppins' and perfectly crisp falafel. You even receive a free beverage if you bicycle there! There are plenty of picnic tables and napkins at the tables. You walk up and order and they make it right there and you pay and boom your falafel is ready! The women helping me were very nice. I ordered the "Whole Falafel" on white pita. The "whole" is huge! Be hungry! It was stuffed full of fresh tasting lettuce, tomato, onion, hummus, and fresh sauce. I guess the best way I can describe it would be "fresh" and "flavorful." All the flavors really complemented one another, and none stood out too prominently over any other one. Nothing tasted like cheap ingredients. It was just an explosion of flavors! And all for $10 total! Ten bucks for all those fresh flavors, lots of food and a drink!? Wow! I would highly recommend Pita Place. Value, friendliness, taste, speed, overall a very satisfying experience! I will DEFINITELY return and would definitely recommend!

Maria H.

Yelp
Local Fairbanksans anxiously await for the Pita Place to open every summer. Pita Place offers homemade pitas packed with fresh vegetables and tasty falafel and/or hummus at an amazingly low price. The owners are incredibly friendly and committed to providing a great experience.

Marla S.

Yelp
Simple menu with delicious homemade pita and falafel. I love eating here and the employees are friendly! Fun games in the sunny eating area and the BEST baklava this side of the ocean! Can't wait for them to open up again in the summer!!!

Dhruv K.

Yelp
It's like Subway but Falafel. The sandwich was tasty but it was a little dry mid way through eating it. They put sauces on top (at the end) so it was expected. But the falafel was soft and flavorful. The staff was friendly!

Jean Marie R.

Yelp
I have no idea how they make the pita or what they put in it but it is legitimately the best I've ever had - and I grew up eating Mediterranean food. It's not flat and dry like traditional pita can sometimes be, it is chewy and fluffy and somewhat dense. The Falafel are equally amazing. They are light but crispy and very flavorful. If you order a full size pita it is huge! A half size pita or certainly fill you up. The menu is extremely limited, serving only Falafel sandwiches and soup, but if you're going to do one thing it better be excellent. Mission accomplished. So far this has been our favorite meal in the Fairbanks area.

Kelsey F.

Yelp
This place is awesome!!! Super fresh. Filling. And simple yet quality options. Got a giant pita for just $8.50 and if I wasn't so full I would've eaten another. Their other offerings were equally as appealing so I'll definitely be back.

Richard R.

Yelp
Falafel sandwich or platter is spot on!! Delicious. Great place. Everything is made fresh and service is quick and friendly.

Marta K.

Yelp
LOVE! At first I was miffed there was no meat/lamb/shawarma but the vegetarian falafel and sauces are sooooo epically good here, who cares?! Pita bread is hand made/baked evey morning AND it shows. Not to miss if you're visiting Fairbanks! Also Gluten-free friendly if you forego the pita. Baklava was good.

Rose Mary F.

Yelp
Came here not knowing what to expect, after a long day of travel. Just saw a lot of great reviews, but didn't have time to read. Boy, we over ordered and had way more delicious food than the two of us needed! Like everyone else mentions, the menu is limited, but the customer service is great and everyone is so helpful to answer any questions and the food is so fresh and flavorful. The half sandwich is plenty for an adult. We'll definitely stop by more during the season.

Sasha R.

Yelp
Great Falafel Pita Sandwich. This place is great! Not a regular restaurant, since it is open during the summer, and seating is outside, but a good place to eat. Even though the lines seem to be really long at times, you get your food pretty quick. The people are very friendly, and the food is fresh. Since it is a pita place, there are only a couple of choices to pick from. White or whole wheat pitas are available. They also serve fresh brewed Turkish coffee and baklava for dessert. I recommend it to anyone that visits Fairbanks!

Paris F.

Yelp
Once again Fairbanks rock at making fresh warm delicious falafel perfect size not too big or small. Lots of veggies and warm pita. Half a size is good enough for me. The price is perfect. I also had a baklava. Could have been more nutty so it was alright.

S C.

Yelp
Love love love the falafel. I always get a whole pita (half to eat here, half for later), white flour pita. Everything but pickles and onions :) Perfectly fried chickpea balls with good spices. The outdoor eating area is so cute (even if it does only overlook a very dusty parking lot). Hansen's soda of all flavors to choose from. I've never had a bad meal here (nice claim to fame).

Riga G.

Yelp
Best healthy food in town!! The falafel is perfectly cooked and tastes amazing with all of the spices/sauces and veggies. My go to order is a E^2 on a whole wheat pita . The outdoor seating is also spacious and comfortable!

Janie S.

Yelp
The best Falafel Pita I've had!!!! It is perfectly spiced, had the freshest ingredients, and a very hefty portion. I would recommend going with a half pita, just as big and filling. There was nothing I did not like about this place, except the fact that it's only open during the summer. Such a friendly staff, very clean and great atmosphere! !!! Bring cash!! They did not except credit/debit cards when I went. You will not regret stopping for a bite! Open Tues- Sat, 11-7pm

April Q.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick mini-meal and I thought it was cool that they let me order the kid's portion (places don't always let adults buy kid's meal options). It was super cheap at $2 or so and it was really filling - they say the only difference is 1 less falafel and less stuffing (so not as wide of a pita pocket). Their staff is really friendly and mostly young college people. The falafel was very flavorful, filling and perfectly portioned and the little spot is convenient, has nice little patio seating and I would definitely come by again for a quick lunch.

Ming S.

Yelp
1. Fantastic falafels. I know falafels. These have the perfect texture and crunch and spice... *Deep sigh* 2. Super comfy atmosphere. Stay and eat at one of their picnic benches or floor cushions under the shelter..or don't! The wraps are great for one-handing while you rush off to another place. 3. AMAZING service. They make you feel welcome and ensure that you are satisfied with your experience. 4. Free drinks for people who bike. Yeah.

Brent K.

Yelp
By far the best Falafel anywhere I've traveled. They even take credit cards now, although I enjoyed the numerous times people would pay it forward if someone new didn't have cash.

Carrie P.

Yelp
I ate here several times in years past. On this recent visit, the pita and falafel and the works are all just as good. What has gotten even better is the expanded and improved eating area. In addition to wood tables, some with built-in shade and some with umbrellas, there is a covered area with low seating. On this visit I had borrowed a toddler and said toddler enjoyed the low seats that we just his size. Looking around, there were families as well as adults having in-depth conversations. They also have some outdoor games, which I love. They have giant chess and giant connect four. These were also heartily approved by the toddler. The giant chess pieces are great for knocking down and banging together.

Alt S.

Yelp
Before I visited the Pita Place, I had only ever eaten the pita bread that you buy in the grocery store, which is tasty enough and makes a tidy pocket to hold your lunch salad. I had no clue how delicious fresh pita could be - and Pita Place pita is AMAZING! I love the falafel with "everything" and spicy, but the pita is what I think about happily long after the meal. I've since visited a couple of other restaurants that make their own pita. Also very enjoyable to eat, but light years away from the excellence of pita place's. I was super happy last winter to find that the Coop Grocery sells Pita Place hummus and pita. The Pita Place restaurant was closed in the winter, but I could still get their tasty tasty food - yay!!

Kay V.

Yelp
Best falafel in Fairbanks IMHO. I've tried several different falafels around town and have been disappointed with how dry/flavorless they were. These did NOT disappoint. Their pitas and toppings are so good and the falafel is moist and flavorful. The price point is great too. I can only eat half of a half-sized one before I need to take a break because they are so filling. Their ordering process is super simple and customizable, you can buy Mama Bear Kombucha to drink along with your meal, and they have great outdoor seating to enjoy during the summer.

Kirsten R.

Yelp
Had another great lunch at The Pita Pit. As always the falafel pita was fresh and delicious, I love summer when we can sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy this great food in Fairbanks.

Christina K.

Yelp
I love falafel and they are masters of their craft indeed. Perfectly made falafel balls with all the flavorful toppings. I love that you can sit outside to eat. If I could go there everyday I would. Perfect summer lunch spot!

Carolyn S.

Yelp
Visiting from Texas. BEST FALAFEL EVER! Authentic & delicious. I never want to eat anything else. Kind & attentive service. Great prices.

K M.

Yelp
Yeah. You need this. Best falafel ever. We also ordered the shakshuka, but were told we couldn't get it to go. Apparently the owner, who we were talking to, couldn't really figure out the exact mechanics of having to-go shakshuka, because it is served in a cast iron pan. Amazing. I think it speaks volumes that he is unwilling to compromise a recipe or presentation of a dish simply for the sake of convenience. After our first bite of falafel, we decided that we just had to stay and also have the shakshuka, which was absolutely fantastic. The coffee is amazing too. So yeah, you need this. The outdoor seating is really nice... at least in June! I also was in great admiration of the joinery work on the awning. There is an incredible four way wedged splice joint on one of the pillars that is worth driving to Fairbanks to see.

Rakefet L.

Yelp
Vegetarian heaven! As an Israeli vegetarian I was absolutely thrilled to find this gem! The falafel was perfectly spiced, the pita were fresh and the veggies were piled high. Pro tip - ask for extra hot sauce. Oh and if you have a kid ask for the kid's falafel. It's the same size almost as the regular half and only $2.50. The owner is friendly and I really can't recommend this place enough. We even got falafels to go and they double wrapped them for our road trip!

Christy B.

Yelp
Small menu. Good prices. Fast service. Nice people. The seating could use some improvement, but overall a good lunch spot.

Kris S.

Yelp
Best falafel ever. Seriously! With another several days in Fairbanks, I just could have to eat here everyday...

Travis D.

Yelp
Outstanding falafel. The best I've had! Always look forward to this marvelous treat each Summer. Try the baklava too!

Joanna H.

Yelp
SUCH good food and amazingly consistent. I've gone months, even a year probably between visits and their pita pockets are always the same.

JoEllen L.

Yelp
Friendly and efficient service. The falafel is tasty and light. If you have a pita blowout, it can get messy. Would recommend ordering it platter style.

Joe K.

Yelp
I could eat their pita with falafel every day. Great food. The owner obviously cares a great deal. We started going here 5 years ago when he only had a hut and cooked on a shelf that was placed outside the window. I remember getting to the order window once and realizing I didn't have money. He said, "Just pay me next time." Great place!

Karthick-Babu P.

Yelp
I never expected to find such good middle eastern food so far up north!. Inexpensive, fast, tasty and healthy! What else can you ask for?

Ashley S.

Yelp
The employees are helpful to first-time visitors, they make your food quick, and it is delicious and FRESH! Next time I will grab a beer(which they now serve) and chill in their super-cute outside dining area.

Jacqui F.

Yelp
First time here and it won't be my last!!! Wonderful service wonderful menu beautiful seating. The owner is wonder. The price is right!!! This will become a weekly thing!!! You can get amazing falafel and pita and hummus to take home! Yummmmm

CJ P.

Yelp
This place is the real deal. It's the best meal I've had in fairbanks, legitimately. They have local, organic, farm fresh veggies. The falafel is THE BEST FALAFEL I have truly ever had, it was soft, moist, warm and flavorful. Many falafels are dry and hard, but Pita Place makes falafel like I've never tasted! Bear in mind two important things: they accept cash or check only, and they are only open seasonally. Today is their last day until May! See you next year, incredible Pita Place.

Christina S.

Yelp
You will not be sorry! This place is one of Fairbanks bests! Winter hours for 2017-2018 Tues-Fri 11-3. They haven't been open during winter for along time! Show them some love! Also speedy eats delivers from here! I love the simple yet amazing menu. The flavors can't be beat! Also the falafels can be purchased at the pit or at the co-op. The owners are amazing people. I get the spicy square! My toddler loves these as well.

Liz S.

Yelp
Maybe the most consistently delicious food in Fairbanks. The line may look long, but it always moves quickly, the falafels are the same every time ---DELICIOUS. You won't find another place like this around here.

Apostle C.

Yelp
This is the best ever falafel place in the whole United States of America. Believe me I've tried many, all others are incompetent. The food is incredibly healthy & more than satisfying to taste. The environment & service is of equal magnitude. I love this place, I love their food, & I love the service of the people. Great proportions, you will not be disappointed, I highly recommend them!!!!!

Adam S.

Yelp
This spot is legit! If I was blindfolded, and ate this falafel, I would have guessed it came from somewhere in NYC, not Fairbanks Alaska! Cheap, fresh & quickly prepared, I shall return...

Gail E.

Yelp
What's not to love about this place, and what has not already been said? Maybe that they are staying open year-round now!! The owner told me yesterday that since they have added on the additional indoor seating that they will no longer be seasonal! Possibly the best news I've heard all month! The most fabulous falafel I've ever had, anywhere! Don't even try eating falafel if you're out of town! You will regret it!

Jim F.

Yelp
I'm NOT a vegetarian and don't go to UAF. There is no Bernie Sanders bumper sticker for president on my Subaru and my adopted sled dog doesn't write my review of the Pita Place! However! If you have never had a Falafel from this place, and think "if" you do you'll be wearing hemp clothing and switching to IPA's. You won't! These are great eats. Try the spicy sauce on your falafel and enjoy. Wrote by a retired GI beard-O guy who drives a pickup and likes cheap canned beer, so please take this for what it's worth.
