Desserts ordered:
-Sipping Chocolate Affogato with caffe espresso gelato.
Delicious gelato to balance out the bitterness of the espresso. My description of the espresso gelato is the same as my other gelato: rich, creamy and not too sweet. 9.5/10
-Regular cup of Chocolate Hazelnut Affogato:
Rich, creamy and not too sweet. Hazelnut flavor was balanced along with the chocolate in perfect harmony 9.5/10
-Ambience:
Small interior with limited seating, but it had a nice decor and layout with good lighting.
-Cleanliness:
It was clean.
-Service:
Even though we came 30 minutes before closing (Sorry! I hate doing that!) they had good attitudes and smiles on their faces :)
-Transportation: Walking
-Value:
Average price of gelato/ dessert nowadays, but the taste justifies it. 8/10
-Wait time:
Served in less than 5 minutes. No line and all they had to do was scoop the gelato and get an espresso shot going. 10/10
Personal notes:
I've heard stories and had this proven in my own experiences: the true gelaterias are not those displayed with colorful mounds of cream, they are hidden under metal lids. It makes sense for me in a practical sense, keeping the bugs out of the sweet dessert. Also, in a sense, it speaks to a different culture over there. I've never been to Italy but I imagine the culture is different, including how they sell products. A gelateria with all its gelato displayed wows potential customers and draws them in. The gelato hidden in the pot is much more humble, and lets its flavor do the talking. I really do enjoy this line of thinking.
Ah, also the ingredient quality is amazing here. I've recently been drawn to organic grass-fed milk products, and considering how I can feel good about the ingredients along with the spectacular taste, I'm very impressed. I wish more places used grass-fed milk.
