Pittsburgh’s Pub Review - Sunset - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Located a few blocks from Ocean Beach on a quiet stretch of Judah St., Pittsburgh’s Pub is at the end of the world. On cold nights, the dark dive feels like the last stronghold - a place to drink, smoke, and socialize with Sunset locals before getting swept up by the fog and chucked into the sea. But before that happens, you’ll probably want to do a few things: Feel like pool? They have two tables. Saving up for that yacht you’ll want to buy once you get to Karl the Fog heaven? They have cheap drinks and well-shots, too. Craving pinball? Play the machine in the back. And no surprise here: It’s cash-only." - Lani Conway

I've been here a few times - on the weekdays, this place is cool and has a relaxed vibe. But when visiting on a Saturday there was initially just a handful of customers. I was enjoying some conversation with some people at the bar, but around 6:30, about 25 obnoxious college kids showed up all at once, completely changing the atmosphere and I had to leave – not sure if this happens often at this bar but I probably wont be returning on the weekends

Google
Cool little bar with a pool table and two pinball machines alongside a jukebox. Good variety of beer!

Google
Fun little neighborhood spot. Fun time chatting and talking some crap with locals and the bartender who gave us some great recommendations.

Google
Love the relaxed atmosphere of this place. They have a cool happy hour for the first 3 hours they are open every day. Great spot to go on weekends after some time in the sun. It's walking distance from ocean beach! I love the dive-y feel, and also the pool table and pin ball machines. The bartender was super friendly and attentive. I loved the old movies playing on all the screens! They switched this off to play the football game which is great too. Great spot in the neighborhood. Will definitely be returning.

Google
drinks weren't bad, bartenders were cool, but it smelled like cootcoot in there.

Google
Nice little bar welcoming and friendly staff. Good place to enjoy a game of pool and relax. Good selection of tap beers.

Google
Best dive bar in the Irving Street-Judah Street neighborhood of the Outer Sunset. Live bands a couple nights a week. Great selection of beer and liquor. They have things you won’t see at just any bar. Fun atmosphere.

Google
Not sure if Dan is still the owner but he is a huge Steelers fan- he has a “Terry Bradshaw Sings” LP on display at the bar. This place used to named Pittsburgh’s but after a bit of Covid-era trouble, a name change/reboot was warranted. As far as I can tell it’s still the same nice neighborhood vibe.

Yelp
It seems like this bar is at the edge of the city itself. Strange to be at night. The place is old school enough. The kind of dive bar that is so popular these days, with a little bit of Tiki. The bar is mainly filled with locals, since parking in that area atrocious. They have the usual spirits, and some pretty good craft beers on tap. They had these hurricanes that extremely strong. There is actually warning on the sign that they can only serve you no more than two of these at once. Once sip and you'll understand why. This is a good place to meet up if you want some place that has chill vibe, and doesn't feel too touristy.

Yelp
Stayed in Ocean Beach twice and visited Pitt's each time. Super friendly and welcoming local bar. Locals even bring their dogs. Bartender remembered us from our first visit and knew the drink my wife ordered. Played pool and pinball and met lots of wonderful people. We'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Just a good outer sunset dive bar. I went to check out Bette's Parm (great!) and stuck around for a beer. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to head to Pitt's but it's a good option post OB when it starts to get cold.

Yelp
Dive bar turned yuppie. Some regulars noses are so far up their forehead they look alien. The new beer selection is cool and live music and always a plus. I miss the old crowd though, it could just be the sunset has changed as a whole since I moved. Bartenders are alright.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere, great bartenders, very welcoming. I ordered a Hemingway Daiquiri and it was beyond delicious. Really a wonderful spot and local favorite though it makes all feel welcome.

Yelp
Friday, 5/31/24 around 6pm, stopped in for the first time to find a bar that actually serves Porter. Surprised and delighted to find a great bar. Comes to find out I was grossly overcharged for 2 pints at Happy Hour prices. Please contact me in hopes to resolve. We would like to stop in for pints from time to time. We are the group who asked to turn Hockey (Dallas Stars) on the telle.

Yelp
It's the old Pittsburghs but way less smelly! Seriously, the decor and services (bar, pool, pinball, seats) hasn't changed but it's much nicer.

Yelp
A small bar that blends into the neighborhood is surprisingly spacious and lively inside. There's sit down tables, a pool table, and pinball machines. The bartender is welcoming and friendly. It's a full bar. I ordered a drink to kill some time before my appointment and was pleased with the atmosphere. Would come back next time I'm here for the beach :)

Yelp
Anyone have a phone number for this place??? Can't seem to find it anywhere online? I lost a jacket last week and need it back. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Yelp
It's a little sad to experience the end of an era. I used to come to Pittsburgh's Pub when I lived down the street, and it's hilarious that the new place is called Pitt's Pub. Love the glow-up but also how they kept the structure of the original bar, as well as the pool tables and jukebox. It was just as crowded, but my friend and I managed to find seats at the end of the bar. Cool to see a LOT more liquor options at Pitt's so I ordered a dirty gin martini. Perfectly dirty. Perfectly boozy. Hats off to the bartender. I thought they did a great job of creating a space where "old" regulars are welcome and new customers are invited. Plenty of parking in this part of Outer Sunset, and it's right next to the N Judah line. Come check out the new space!

Yelp
Stumbled in here one foggy Tuesday night. After not knowing they reopened with a new owner. And instantly loved the vibe. If you like beer, you def need to visit. As they consistently have a phenomenal beer menu. Something for every taste preference. I particularly appreciate that they often have a sour beer on the menu. And can't forget that the bartender whips up the best cocktails. The bar is huge, with plenty of space. We've even made a few new neighborhood friends here. Or at least carried a friendly conversation. Post pandemic shyness problems. IYKYK. Anyway, come here for a pint, or five!

Yelp
Nice place. It's a nondescript bar from the outside but once you enter, you're met with a well-stocked bar, and an open space with two pinball machines, one pool table, and a small seating area. The liquor is well-stocked and it has an excellent beer selection. Happy hour will reduce your pint by $2 I do believe. My only beef is that the drinks are measured instead of a free pour, and that will cost you $13 so I think I'll just use this bar for the quality ale. The other thing was that my friend requested a specific whiskey and the bartender just stared and informed him they didn't stock it, when the bottle was literally behind her on the shelf. She really needs to have a better grasp of the inventory to make a sale. Finally, it's located in a nice, quiet neighborhood but it's close to the ocean, so bring a jacket.

Yelp
Only went because it is a local spot and we know the owner (Matt). Would never recommend. Very young crowd. Bartenders are young as well and they definitely don't cater to older drinkers. We are very local and the bartender was so rude to us - blatantly ignoring us. She was a tall blonde. I've gone there on a few occasions and had a similar experience. Unfortunate because we are pretty generous tippers looking for a local pub to enjoy a beer.

Yelp
This bar used to be pretty scary going by growing up here in the Sunset. But new owners and management has made this my favorite bar in the Sunset. Its laid back, great cocktails, owner is dope. Always a good time here. I think I remember this was like a sister bar to White Cap or they came from white cap. Anyway so come out and check out one of the best.

Yelp
"That's the Pitts!" Amazing little bar in the heart of Outter Sunset, SF! Super welcoming, great drinks, and a bartender that will make you any drink you need! Pool table and great atmosphere! We were there on a Friday night and they had live music! It was and the best vibe!! Totally recommend!!!

Yelp
Come here. But also maybe don't because it's a hidden gem and I don't want this place to be too crowded when walk in. I'll leave it at that.

Yelp
Decent neighborhood dive. It's a little brighter and cleaner than it was under the last iteration. You can still shoot pool. Convenient to the streetcar and the beach.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Great dive bar vibes. I was visiting for a few days and the locals made me feel welcome

Yelp
Great cozy local's bar! Recently redone inside is cheerful and inviting. Great drinks too.

Brianna C.

Yelp
I don't usually leave reviews, but the way the staff does customer service really made me not want to step foot back in here again. Their pool table and juke box is nice but it's not worth the treatment of their customers. The drinks are OK btw. There are many other bars in the sunset like One Up Bar and Karls Beacon that have nice pool tables and a way better, positive atmosphere.

Joseph S.

Yelp
It's a dive bar that's no longer a dive. Basically the same thing that everyone else said is true; cleaner, updated, fancier drinks. Service was good. No complaints at all, and while it won't be a destination I will definitely stop by again when in the area.

Wayne W.

Yelp
Great update of Pittsburgh bar in the outer Sunset. Good cocktails. Good crowd. Def go again.

Susan K.

Yelp
Clean and nice update to a local institution. My biggest issue is the jukebox... owners seem to have limited any music to a very select few bands. I'd love to see a wider selection of music available-- I used to love walking into an eclectic mix!

Ruari H.

Yelp
Great revamp for the neighborhood. Knowledgeable bartenders and a great selection of beer and drinks. A few cocktails on draft but the bartenders are able to make pretty much anything you want. Was made these two off menu drinks after some beers.

Aa L.

Yelp
Great place. So glad this place has been rejuvenated into a clean fun bar. Had a beer and a cocktail. Even though the cocktail I had was from the pre-Mix tap, it was perfect. I will make this a frequent stop for happy hour and more.

Yelp
I'd follow Jordan anywhere - from California Gold to Pitt's He knows how to make a bar fun and community oriented and he makes some mean drinks
