The 21 Best Restaurants in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca | Eater

"Relatively new to the Puerto Escondido scene, Piyoli — which means “bee” in Nahuatl — is a casual restaurant where everything is fresh, healthy, and local (the dedication is real: There’s a salad on the menu called “Fuck Monsanto”). The extensive menu includes a catch of the day, squash blossom tacos on handmade tortillas, fish burgers, and vegetarian burgers made with lentils and pea protein; the eggs are organic and all the breads are made in-house. In the morning the bar serves fresh pressed juices, while in the evening it shakes up original cocktails: Try El Anochecer En Piyoli, made with mezcal coffee, almond milk, cocoa, and grated coconut. Open from 8:00 a.m. to Midnight. [$$]" - Tirza Bonifazi

We came for the delicious pita falafal and were surprised with live music by Mango Dream. The falafal was really crunchy and a bomb of flavour. It was the perfect Saturday night we were looking for. A cold beer, with some soul food and live music. The owner even took the time to have a little chat with us. We have to come back to try more of the menu.

We came here for breakfast! Food was decent! Had Avocado toast & acai bowl. The green juice was really good. Extra peanut butter portion was good size. When we were given bill it already had 15% extra charge on it (for tips)-like service charge. Only after i checked it and asked about it, waitress asked if it was ok to keep 15% tips? This shouldn't be added to the bill, it looks like VAT if you don't speak Spanish. Option to tip is always on credit card machine after putting food price in. I bet more than few people double-tipped by accident. Not very cool practise, seem little dishonest. Please be aware of this.

Really nice and chill restaurant. Amazing shrimp tacos, along with sauces. The aguachile negro was very flavorful, the French fries with paprika as well. 10/10 recommend along with presentation of meals 👌🏼 although 15% of tip is included

The açai bowl was delish! Very chill vibes for a nice, calm breakfast in the morning. Music was playing but not too loud that you couldn't have a conversation. I was able to take a video call for work and the wifi was strong. Make sure to use a virtual background, though, to cover up the fact that you're in sand🤣

Ate lunch here on a Thursday. Outside of the relaxing atmosphere everything else was underwhelming. Minus one star because the server from Argentina has horrible customer service skills. From not having answers to questions about the food, to not being attentive to the needs of her customers. Minus another star because the mango avocado “salad” turned out to be more of a guacamole with mango dip and the fries were pretty average with hardly any paprika on them as advertised. Also the watermelon basil drink was full of seeds. On a high note the stir fry with chicken was really good, the restaurant was pretty and they are kind to animals.

I really wanted to try this restaurant. I was craving something healthy and this looked like a great place. We had two girls come to our table to help us, one was very nice and other one had a bad attitude. She wasn’t too happy when I asked some questions about the menu. We finally decided what to order and it took a long time for them to bring our food. My smoothie was very watered down, the food was ok, nothing special. The girl with an attitude brought us our bill and I payed, and we left When we were around the corner I looked at my bill and the girl charged me for something I didn’t get, I came back to the restaurant and they gave me back my money. It was a bad, expensive experience, I don’t think I would ever come back.

Came here multiple times during my stay in La Punta. The vibe was pretty chill. The food here is vegetarian and they can be delicious (saying “can be” because it’s not really consistent, but there are times when it’s pretty good). The service here however, is just awful. They look at you, and decide if they want to serve you. And when they do serve you, it’s usually with an attitude. One time I ordered a glass of iced water, and they only give me ice with no water.

NOT A VEGETARIAN RESTAURANT FYI Food was pretty good. Nice burger and good falafel. Service was quick but pretty unfriendly and the place is jam packed with tourists. Toilets were pretty gross as well no loo roll.
